The Post Office's updated look looks really nice. And there's parking available again. I can't…read morebelieve I'm geeking out. First, there's an area where you can drop off your letters and packages, a self-service area to buy stamps and to ship your own boxes, smart lockers to pick up your post office packages more easily, and more. The next area is the actual post office service area, where you stand in line. Now, the waiting room counter area is bigger. The line moves along the counter, so no longer do I have to kick packages forward (unless the package is huge - there's a joke in there somewhere), and I can place my packages on the counter and move them forward. I just had the easiest time shipping out all my holiday gifts because I placed them on the counter and moved them along easily. Thank you, counter! The service here is always professional, friendly, and fun. The line length usually sucks, but I understand that's not anyone's fault. But the workers here always seem to be in good spirits, so I can't be annoyed at the wait time for long when they are so friendly. The post office is WAY more space efficient, and the renovations - while lengthy - were totally worth the wait! The only suggestion I heard while waiting in line is for there to be music playing in the background. That would definitely perk my spirits up even more, but it may make it harder to talk to the cashier unless it is playing at a low volume. Just a suggestion, Oxnard USPS!

When I walked inside, the staff refused to take my packages, claiming the registers were already shut down. As I went back to my car to grab my phone, they immediately locked the door behind me. If a business states they are open until 4:00 PM, they should accept customers until 4:00 PM. Turning away paying customers early is completely unacceptable.

Sorry, but these people are too stupid to deserve anyone's trust, let alone anyone's business. I drove over to the store next to WinCo, where I'd never been before, and they found my info almost before I finished setting the package on the counter. It's located in not the best part of town, so just be always aware when you're coming to and from your car. Even though the police station is right across the parking lot, there are people loitering across the street. Always a good reminder to be on guard wherever you are. One thing that is rather annoying is that even if you're just dropping off a package, already labeled and paid for, you still have to stand in line and give it to a clerk. I remember at this location you used to be able to drop it in one of their drop boxes. That is now locked. So if the line is very long, which is usually the case at any P.O., that can be really frustrating. Part of it being pre-labeled is I want to save time by dropping it off! Other than that, the 2 windows are usually opened and the clerks are friendly enough. The young girl this morning was nice, although she spoke too fast and I couldn't understand a word she said.
