Terrible customer service. Tried calling them and no one answered (at least have an answering service). After answering a ton of questions so I could email a question, it wasn't accepted. I just tried calling them again this morning and the line was busy. After finally getting through I let the phone ring at least 50 times and no one picked up. DMV you finally have some competition. The worst post office. They will not answer their phone. The package tracking says the package was delivered to an address, but the business at that address says it is a non-deliverable address, so...trying to call and see where it was delivered and no one will answer their phone. read more

I definitely did not share everyone else's experience here!! I came in on saturday morning around 10:30 or so, the last saturday before Christmas! By the look of the overflowing parking lot and line almost out the door i figured it would take about an hour. I could barely believe we were in and out of there in close to 10 minutes!! I've only been to this location maybe a dozen times but the experience is always the same: long lines due to not having enough staff, and the people that work there don't seem to know what they're doing. Also, the passport service is a joke. You have to make an appointment but no one ever answers the phone. Appointments are 6-8 weeks out, also. We wound up going to the Evans St. Post office in SF as they do walk-in appointments, have on-site photos, and are fairly efficient. read more

I usually hate post offices. Un manned, and long slow moving lines. Today I was at this post office at 2:30pm. Sure enough, it had a line of 10 deep. I was last. But unusually, there was a person at every counter. Even a nice lady who asked everyone if they were trying to drop off or pick up. Deborah was the lady who helped me. Armed with a great smile and friendly service, she took me by surprise and calmed me about a shipment that I wanted to upgrade. Best post office I've seen in at least 10 cities. read more

I can't speak as to the physical post office as I've not been there in several years. I can address delivery service. Under the old postmaster the service sucked and his response to complaints was terrible. Under the new postmaster the service has improved dramatically and we don't have the surly mail man any longer. Coincidence? I think not. Keep up the good work. read more

It is true that this Post Office is pretty busy early , at or around noon and close to 5PM but the workers are pretty helpful I always go to this Post Office The only bad thing is that if you ship items frequently , the cost is kind of expensive. Last Friday, I came to this post office to ship something out. I already had the label and my item wrapped up in bubble wrap but I was missing a box...Otherwise, I would've easily just chucked it in the mailbox. I used the smallest flat rate box and put everything together. Now I just needed something to help stick my label onto the box. I patiently waited in line and as expected, service was slow. Finally, it was my turn. I put the box on the counter with my label in hand and asked if I could get one of the sticker pouches to slip my label in. The lady took one look at me and said "No, you can't use those pouches for this box. Your company should provide that for you." I was so confused and told her that this was a personal item and nothing to do with any company... So she clarified that the pouches are not allowed on those boxes and that my company should have provided some tape for the box. I then reiterated that it was a personal item and the reason the label was not on the box because I came here for the box. So do you have any tape then?!?! This B gives me the dirtiest look and says, "Fine, I'll tape it for you this time but next time you need to do it." No sh*t... if I had the box, I wouldn't be here nor having this conversation with you....! So stupid! Anyways, as I walked out, I took a sh*tload of boxes so I'll never need to come back to this one. My experience with this location is no different than my experiences at most other USPS locations -- crappy. Both when I moved into and out of San Mateo, I have had issues receiving my mail at my new address, even though I submitted change of address requests online WAAAAAYYYYYY in advance both times. This second time, Christian, who is supposed to be helping me, tells me that they are doing everything they are doing on their end, and that I should contact the other post office to find out why I'm not getting my mail. Huh? So it's my job to navigate the USPS and figure out why I'm not getting my mail? He also claims he sent me an email, which I still haven't received. So when I call the other post office, the guy says that the San Mateo post office should have been calling them in the first place, not leaving it to a customer to try to figure this out. Duh! The USPS is the worst-run piece of trash business in existence! No wonder it is constantly broke! read more

THIS PLACE TRULY SUCKS! I live down the block from this place and so I thought it would be great to have a post office close by..NOT! There is always a 20 minute or longer wait.. and the staff is rude and really slow (there will be a line out the door and they are making small talk with people).. They are also a passport office, which makes the office even more backlogged since there are a bunch of people trying to get passport help. After coming here 2x and having to wait over 25 minutes each time, I looked for something else and found the post office in downtown san mateo! I agree with many of the other horrible comments about lousy service, long lines, etc., but I am writing specifically about several employees (one male in particular) who can't speak English enough to transact the mailing. If you ask him to please repeat while I'm struggling to understand, he screams and slurs that my hearing is the problem. And yes, they make so many mistakes. WOW! You would think that the staff at this office would catch on that there is an issue with a package if it has been circling from this facility to the San Francisco Facility for two weeks! I have a time sensitive package that I NEED by this Thursday and I have not been able to contact anyone here to find out what is going on. This place needs some serious training on their customer service. I never experienced such terrible service and lack of accommodation from USPS as a whole, and I have never heard of this happening to anyone else. I write this while on vacation. I submitted a mail hold for 06/05/17 through 07/03/17 to cover my vacation period. I was informed by my son, who also placed a mail hold for his absence covering a shorter time period, that my mail was not held. Not only that, but his mail hold wasn't executed as well. Fortunately my neighbor was alert to the mail pile-up and secured the daily delivery for my protection. I can't imagine what would have happened had it not been for his goodwill. I will vehemently present my lack of goodwill to this office postmaster, criticizing its incompetence and negligence, and demanding an explanation. Incredibly poor service. read more

Worse service, a hose holder (rolled) which is a 1/3 height in front of my garage well below the mail slot. Mail carrier STOPPED delivering my mail the second time. NO NOTES, not even a knock on my door (I work from home) to say something is blocking the mail slot (which there is not). I've cleared it and he still does not drop off my mail. So the second time around, I actually goat hold of the supervisor at Delaware office. The hose was blocking it and he will NOT reach over as he might fall because of the hose holder. How difficult is it to reach the mail slot from less than two feet away? So I asked why did he not leave a note or knock on my door? It could have been corrected the same day! Supervisor said he was getting ready to write me a note (TWO WEEKS LATER)? All he can say is he will have the carrier bring me the mail tomorrow. read more

For over a week I tried to call them at (650) 358-8490, the phone number they post for this location, at all different hours of their work day, and it just rings, a deliberate refusal to provide service as complained by many reviews here. Zeny who works there was very rude and condescending. I was shipping out a package via Priority Mail with signature tracking. She was not attentive and I had to tell her 3 times how i was sending it. The box already had a label with the address. Then i asked to scan the bar code off the paid label to put onto my app that I use for tracking and she said NO. Never once did I have a clerk say no such a simple request. Rather than type 20 numbers manually into the eBay app for tracking scanning saves time and is accurate. I had to explain to her why and then she said ok here in a very negative tone. Zeny has a bad attitude overall and needs to be held accountable. I have visited this post office multiple times and never had issues. Zeny you are a bad employee and do not represent the USPS very well. Shame on you. read more

What a horribly unfriendly place. Staff are bullied by a coworker named Deborah who switches between a profane "I don't need this sh_ _!" unprofessional and uncomposed postal worker, to obsequiously calling the next three patrons in line "baby". Inappropriate in all cases. I'm not sure how she got a position with direct interface with the public. She is impatient, rude, and couldn't solve a problem to save her life. Her only skill is intimidation. Sadly, she is the reason the term "going postal" is perpetuated, and why post offices are being shut down or reducing their hours. People don't put up with inefficiency and childishness anymore because we don't need to. I would recommend instead, driving over to the Ellsworth and 2nd Ave branch in San Mateo where there is no drama and staff are courteous. I watched Deborah shut down a line and ask Henry to grab his cash box and come to another window, leaving a customer bewildered, stamps on the counter, and wondering where their mail was, after a vacation hold had expired. Deborah literally left a customer standing there without help, never bothered to hear the story, solve the problem. Just a reactive waste of a salary. This post office is wildly disorganized and inconsistent. It is the purgatory of post offices and sadly, it's the main branch. read more

The lines are extremely slow and inefficient, and sadly the employees are not at all the friendliest. I do feel bad if people are unhappy with their jobs, but in the world of customer service, the customers' needs must come first no matter what. There was a very long line today, and although closing time enforcement is important, or else there would be no end, it is unacceptable to turn people away in the rudest way after they have been waiting for a long time. Terrible -- Ordered stamps by mail - has been 10 days and still no stamps. Called the office -- phone rang for more than five minutes until answered . I was told that it takes three days to get to them and then five or more days to fill the order. No wonder the U.S. Postal Service is not doing well. read more

I waited in line for 40 minutes for a passport renewal. When I made it to the counter, I was told I needed an appointment to process the application. There was no one in line behind me, yet they still wouldn't accept my application. The next available appointment was over three weeks out. It was now necessary for me to use an expedited agency and pay big fees to get my passport. read more

The staff at this post office are really hard working and are respectful of everyone who comes in the doors. I have watched them deal with unkind people and still they keep their cool and treat them with respect. They have a great work flow and work to keep the lines short. We had a passport appointment for 1:30 and arrived early at 1:15. They asked us to take a seat and wait. At 1:45, we were told they couldn't find our appointment. When I protested they could have told us sooner to save us the wait, the clerk behind the counter threw up her hands and said "she couldn't work with people 'yelling' at her" and walked away for 10 minutes. It is now 2:17 and we are finally being helped, although by a very angry clerk who keeps throwing us angry glances. Awesome. read more

The ones that were helping customers were taking there time and making small talk. I waited for 10 minutes and in that time 3 people were helped while the line almost doubled. Sent a package express mail. The carrier not only delivered it to the wrong address, it was left on the porch even though the signature was required. The package went missing. Almost 80 phone calls, most of which go unanswered, no one in this post office can even accept responsibility. Most calls are not returned and that is when I actually get through to leave a message for people who are conveniently not there. I always need to talk to the person who is NOT there and different from the previous referral. No accountability whatsoever.Truly a disaster! read more
