Most days I ship, the transactions are usually easy and I'm in and out within 10 minutes. The postal office employees are usually nice and I can go about my day. Today, I made the mistake of having my package being 1 ounce over the limit for this particular service. That's fine, I can pay the additional fee. What was frustrating was that my previous label was not nulled & refunded, on top of being charged for the second label. Furthermore, the clerk denied me access taking pictures of the new label created before shipping. Having the receipt is fine, but it didn't have my recipient's name on it. All around annoyance, but I don't foresee issues with future transactions so this is a rare instance. read more

The counter staff are always lovely and very customer service oriented, but the manager/supervisor doesn't run the office well in general. no one ever answers the phone and there's no voicemail. They frequently don't pick up packages left well before the time deadline, especially on Saturdays, meaning packages just sit there from 15 min before the last empty/pick-up time on a Saturday until 3pm on the Monday when they finally get sent to the main distribution center. don't ask me why they don't send stuff to the distribution center after the first pick-up in the morning! And they also frequently sent packages back to the main distribution center instead of delivering causing delays. Use the San Carlos post office whenever you can, it's so much better! read more

The staff at this post office are great However, the Lead or could be the supervisor who I thought was a good friendly staff was just a front. She really showed her true color by being rude and ill mannered. The one I'm pertaining to was the tall asian lady. It started when I tried to exchange stamps that O have purchased from their Kiosk located on the other side of the building. The stamps disposed by the machine was printed individually and it won't stick to a regular envelope. The staff who is currently helping me asked the Lead for her opinion and she answered we don't give out refunds. I said I was wasn't asking for a refund but a replacement stamps that would stick better and something that looks like real stamps. The printed stamps that I initially disposed by the machine was printed in black. It looks like a fake stamps. Anyways all she said in a rude way was "get some glue". . And she threw my stamps back to the person helping me. Very rude! Other staff show a better attitude than this lady. Very disrespectful person. The person I just dealt with at the counter was rude. I needed a priority box shipped out. She looked at the package and asked for the address and said it's not on the box. Typically, when I've mailed out packages, they ask me for the address or type what's written and the label that prints out is affixed over what I've written so there's really no point. When I said this to her she told me I was getting upset, which I wasn't. Then when I filled out the address she point out in was in the wrong area (the from section) I then crossed out the from and put to and asked if that was alright. She said, it's up to you. I asked if it really made a difference, since the label was going over the top anyway and she just stared at me and didn't say anything. Like as though she was giving me the silent treatment. She proceeded to tell me I was getting upset again, which I wasn't. At that point I took the package back and used the kiosk. And just as I had said to her, a label printed out that goes right over what I had written. This post office is extremely slow when I come to sending out packages as it is, homeless people sleep in the P.O. Box area, at the least they could not immediately tell customers that they're upset when they are simply asking a question. My voice wasn't raised, I was calm, I was just asking questions and she looked me like an idiot. My family has worked for the postal service and I am always courteous to the workers but today was ridiculous. They are the cheapest to mail things out, so I choose to continue to come back but let's work on not being immature. read more

I usually don't review this USPS but I think this place gets a bad wrap. I've been to a few USPS in the Bay Area. Let me tell you why this place is awesome. -they always have priority boxes in stock. -friendly staff and fast -the drop off bin is always working, I've been to a few where it's always stuck. Yes the parking sucks, but you can usually park on the street and walk right in. Don't forget you can always drop off prepared packages on Saturday inside their drop off bin by 5pm!! read more

Seems odd to rate a post office highly, but this is one solid post office to drop and ship packages out of. The clerks that I've had work with are pretty kind, advise me on my shipping labels, and don't rush me off when I'm finished. Only real complaint is that the parking lot is small so if you're waiting for a spot to open up... it could be a while. Very rude and bad customer service experience.   When we got there, the young short-haired staff noticed us for passport applications, and without saying anything, pointed us to stand at another side instead of lining up at the passport line. That was already strange. But then the person who was taking care of our passport application was even more rude and ridiculous. For example, when my husband and son were directed to go take the passport photo, they got told "not to smile" which made the photos turn out awful! They looked sad and mad which we have to see every time we open the passport to go travel now. The lady provided such misleading instructions and had the worse attitude as well. Horrible. read more

They lost my package and admitted they lost it. The manager, Leya, was awful - no sense of ownership or pretty much not at all apologetic. She suggested I call amazon because you know, they will just resend it to me. Uh what?!? Why would amazon be wiling to pay for something the post office lost? There is nothing worse than trying to mail a package and having one broken machine. The machine will tell you the weight of nothing is 4.90 oz. when I put my package on the scale, I suppose I will only have the option of mailing my envelope Priority or Express Mail. This is causing customers to either overpay or to have to come back during service hours or go to another P.O. on another town as this is the only U.S.P.S. in Belmont. Ugh! Great service! I had a passport appointment at 9am. Stood in line and was taken promptly. They give a 15 minute block for the appointment but in reality it doesn't take more than 10 minutes. I didn't bring a copy of my ID but they were able to do it there for me for an additional $1 charge; kind of excessive but it was my fault for not bringing in my own copy. Depressing office like most USPS offices. Employees only wait for their breaks to come so they can get out. It seems like they only wait for your turn to come in order to put the "next window please" sign and leave the huge line all to their colleague. They also don't care to give you the lowest price when you ask for it and frequently overcharge you. The people at the front are always quick and kind. They'll tell me my options and point me in the right direction for a painless process. The folks here have improved their service immensely over the last few months in my opinion. Today I went in to mail a package regular mail and it was going to be about $15. The postal clerk at the counter looked at my package and told me if I put it in a post office priority mail bag that the cost would be about half and would probably get there sooner. I was very surprised and pleased she cared enough to do that. I also noticed that all three employees at the counter, three women were all smiling and greeting their customers with what sounded like very sincere welcome remarks. I only come to the post office a couple of times a year and one of those is usually tax day. Last year I waited almost 45 minutes to submit my taxes at the Menlo Park Post office on the 15th so this year I figured I'd go a day earlier. The parking lot at this post office is small, literally like 5 spaces + 1 handicap space. It was already full so I just found some nearby street parking and walked over. I guess the good thing about no spaces is no people inside. Much less of a wait then other post offices I have been too. Also the supervisor was at the table helping people with questions about forms etc. The line moved pretty fast and everything was good until I got to the counter. While it didn't take very long, the lady helping me was rude. I don't get certified mail since I don't care if the tax man gets my forms as long as I can prove I sent them. So I opt for a certificate of mailing which is like $3 cheaper. I'm only here because I am too cheap to e-file it for $25 when mailing costs $3. I filled out the form but left a few details off. The lady at the desk says in a really snarly voice, "Sir, this must be exactly the same, an exact match. You need to fix it." Umm, ok. I take a look and the only thing that wasn't the same was I didn't add the city which I think zip code should take care of and the word family after my surname. My surname was on the sheet. I filled it out and got my taxes mailed out. It was fast but man, that lady was rude. Guess that's what happens when you go postal. Anyways, quick to do mail transactions and I liked that the manager was helping out on a busy day. Small lot and maybe a rude counter person. I do not enjoy coming here because there's basically no parking and there's frequently these 'Impeach Obama' yahoos picketing outside with giant posters of Barack Obama with a Hitler mustache drawn on his face. I don't have 2-cents to put towards politics, so no opinions there, but I do know that I don't like when strangers try to talk to me or try to draw me over to them and I do feel like there's probably a pretty big different between modern day Belmont, California and the Nazi state of Europe circa the 1940s. I wasn't around then, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Hitler probably wouldn't have been too cool with a buncha women picketing directly outside a government office, clogging up traffic flow, harassing patrons, and making janky posters of him with the distinct facial hair of whomever still would've been considered a historical super villain at that time. I mean, what a great country we live in that you can mail parcels across the country in 2-days for under $6 and that basically anyone has the right to be as super annoying and publicly harass-y as they want to be and it's just totally cool with everybody. But basically, if you don't like being confronted by total strangers with an agenda while trying to get your errands done, this may not be the post office for you. The post office def seem to be cool with the crazies outside. In fact, I don't think they really GAF about much happening inside or outside their walls but my stuff has always gotten to its destination on time and they do on occasion offer some pretty cool stamps (I'm pretty big on the Harvey Milk ones, but if they bring back the endangered species ones I'll probably switch to those). There's usually one person working the line, which chugs along pretty steadily, and one person who just sits in a register area at the counter and watches people in line, but doesn't actually call customers up to help them. Really not sure what his deal is, but the more you watch him get paid to sit there and stare out into the line of people waiting, the funnier it gets. The people who work here who do actually help people are actually really great. Super nice older women and one girl whose pretty young and actually really smokin, especially for a postal worker. So far, everything I've shipped has made it to where it needs to go and they always make sure you're aware of the insurance/tracking/arrival details etc before you leave so there's no confusion. read more

I visit this post office a lot. The employees at the front desk are all really friendly and I've only had positive experiences interacting with them. Sometimes there can be a wait because a lot of people don't come with their packages 100% prepared. The manager could be a little more diplomatic though. Once, a USPS mail carrier picked up a package FedEx dropped off at my door. Later, I got an angry call from the manager who was blaming me for the situation. Parvin -the so called manager is a complete waste of space and resource for the post office. She is truly the worse person to deal with. Twice I have head her tell me she could not do anything because that's just how it is and it's not her job. There is absolutely no sense of ownership. The first time I had bought a book of messed up stamps. One side was ok and the other was cut in the wrong place. She wouldn't take them back because she said she had no authority to authorise it. I called the next day and the manager Anthony took care of it quickly with no problem, and simply replaced the bad stamps. These were for my holiday cards so didn't want any trouble having them delivered. Second time, I couldn't make a passport appointment online so I called and she told me to come in to make an appointment with the clerk. I get there and she says she can't help me, "it's not their problem it's the passport agency's problem". Well as an agent office and so called "manager" maybe you could make a call and try to escalate the issue. She is so lazy and simply gives lots of excuses and rude to the customers to boot. No empathy at all as I had minor children with me and they require appointments to renew with both parents present. She just laughed and said it's not her problem and insinuated I was upset because I couldn't have an appointment. Yes, because she told me to come in and even more upsetting is that she wouldn't take ownership and as a manager try to find a solution rather than laugh and pass the buck. Simply ridiculous to make someone a manager who just passes the blame around and this is the exact type of person that gives the postal service it's bad reputation. The other ladies are nice or try to be helpful but they just shrink around her and her attitude. I hope Anthony reads this and makes some much needed changes. It's sad as I use to love this location. Incident as follows: In August, I sent an envelope to Sacramento by certified mail. No problem. In November, the receiving party said they "never got it" Receipt (I saved) said that the PO keeps record for TWO YEARS. I took my receipt to Belmont PO. Man at counter said my receipt was no good because they "changed the database", so only hold it for 60 days now. Uhm what? Says he "can't do anything about it." Yes. He said that. I throw fit. Big one. I ask him "what good is this receipt!?" And throw it onto the counter, storming out in rage. Yes, I did that. IT's true. My husband sent me back in to get receipt (marriage is about checks and balances, ultimately.) PO worker has neatly kept the receipt taped to his desk. WTF? I ask him for the receipt back. No stars, but I'm not that cold...just very pissed off because this isn't my first time dealing with their lies and laziness. Firstly...the carrier on my route constantly overstuffs my mailbox..I mean... ALL the time! I live a floor up from the mailboxes and can be easily accessed by elevator. Instead the carrier would rather stuff any and all packages into a tiny mailbox...to the point the mailbox door is coming off its hinges!!! Lazy?? Burnt out on the job?? To good to deliver to the door??? Hmmmm... Secondly, they try to deliver most packages just once!! They lie and say the packages require signature. But two out of three times, I pick up the package and there is no such requirement. I am an active Amazon buyer and can't control which delivery service sellers choose but dread every time I see the carrier will be the Belmont post office. Of course, senders don't know that the Belmont post office has Richard as their rude supervisor who supports the lies his lazy staff tells. He tried not to tell me his name, by the way, when he came in the line after I had finished my conversation with a lying female staff member. The recent packages were "attempted" to be delivered on Monday and slated for redelivery on Tuesday. I paid for AmazonPrime shipping so I signed the blasted pink slip to authorize the packages to be left at my door. No other attempts were made after Monday. No other pink slips were received. I finally called the post office on Thursday morning and had the ever-so-rude female staff go over the hours the post office was open and even had the nerve to tell me that: 1. "Well , I'm sure you don't work the exact same hours this place is open..so you can just pick it up." (Uhh, yes! Most people do work from 9-5! And, no! I'm not coming in on Saturday just because you guys were too lazy..AGAIN...to not redeliver.) 2. "I can tell you why your carrier didn't deliver. Not that I have to tell you why we do our jobs. The packages require signatures per the sender. And since you are telling me you won't be home, anyway, they were right in not delivering."(Uhhh...really?!? The packages came Monday. I am having this conversation with you about not being home...it's Thursday. My bad! I guess it wasn't laziness that stopped them from redelivering...it was their psychic abilities that predicted I wouldn't be home!) 3. "Well you're calling the wrong people, ma'am. You should be calling the senders who require your signature! (Uhhhhh, one, that still doesn't explain why there were no attempts to redeliver. And, two, the two different senders never required signatures on any if the packages... Uhhhhh, lie much??) Now, there is one lady and one female supervisor who seem to really know what their jobs are and are customer service people!! The star goes to them! (But they couldn't find my packages and had me waiting there on my time off because Richard didn't leave the packages where he was supposed to...go figure.) I'll end my rant and I'll just get all their names and update my review so my fellow Belmont residents know who and what they are up against. read more

I ship out eBay items on a weekly basis and this USPS is on the way to Caltrain where I commute to the city in the morning. The 24/7 package drop off is almost always stuck and doesn't open. I'm stuck carrying 4 big boxes on Caltrain because I'm forced to find another USPS near work to drop off my packages. It's getting really annoying. Another big problem I have with this facility is they return packages to you if they're 0.2 ounces off the specified weight. By far the BEST experience I've EVER had in a government-run agency. Who knew that was even possible?!??! Gracie was an absolute sweetheart of a postal worker - I was definitely blessed by the heavens that day. She helped me with my passport (it was lost AND i needed to do a name change) and made that entire process smooth and easy. She did EVERYTHING and unlike other gov't workers i've collided with, she even gave me helpful suggestions that proved VERY useful. She even personally processed my hubby's application and his was just a standard 'mail-in'. In my case they needed to mail my original marriage certificate along with my app to change the name, but I also needed it at the DMV to do the same. Dilemma? Not here! She held onto my paperwork & waited for me to come back with it later that afternoon after my DMV appt to send it all off. Now that's personal service! I've come here every so often as a last ditch effort to get my ebay sales out. Needless to say based on my 1 star I'm giving them I won't go back. Over time I've noticed they seem to adopt policies regarding outgoing mail/packages that other post offices don't seem to enforce. Today was the last straw when I was told I couldn't add tape to a particular part of my package. Even though it was applied very cleanly and didn't pose any issues to belts or any machines they may use. After finding this out I snatched my package of the scale and drove 1.6 miles and was greeted with a smile and tracking number upon completing the transaction. If you want to save yourself a couple mins of time go right ahead but for anything short of dropping off a card or buying a stamp this place isn't worth a sh!t. read more
