This photo is where I rewarded a city carrier who prevented a serious accident
    Harold W.

I started working for the San Jose Post Office in 1970 as a part time flexible city letter carrier just after I served in the Army in Vietnam. I started out working at the former city main post office on Meridian Avenue where I delivered mail in a three wheeled postal scooter. After I got promoted to regular carrier I then worked at the Alma Post Office off Minnesota Ave. I then got a mail route at Station D on the East Side off Alum Rock Ave. When Gunderson High School was built along with the new homes off Hyde Park Dr I was their first regular mailman while working out of the newly built Hillview Post Office. Then the Cahalan post office was built and was on same route. Then Robertsville Post Office was built and continued there while on same route until I bought my new Pyramid home near the Blossom Hill Post Office. I bid and was rewarded my new mail route where I bought my home. I served there on that route until I was promoted as carrier supervisor at the Cahalan post office. I then made Superintendent of Cahalan and then promoted to manager. When you see that clock tower at the Cahalan Post Office, I put that there years ago. I retired in 2004. I had the opportunity to work from Hillview, Blossom Hill, Robertsville from day one when they were new. I served my customers proudly including earning several awards as a craft employee and manager...and I am a proud Army Vietnam Veteran

My view of the drive thru drop off boxes. Grrr...

Your drive through mailboxes are facing the WRONG WAY! Everyone has to get out of their cars and walk around to the other side. Come on

How come no one answers my phone calls? I dropped off a a return box, it has a label on it. Unfortunately I didn't take note of the number nor did I ask for the confirmation receipt. I'm trying to call to see if anyone can help me but no luck :(

My review is going to start by saying thank you Harry! And 5 stars for his service!…read more I was in a bit of a bind with an upcoming work trip in the next 2 months, my passport had just expired and I had recently just got married and was in the process of a last name change for all my documents. I took a look online for process and to no surprise as all other government offices, appointments were months out. I did a quick google search for non appointment options and found Eastridge Post Office welcomed non appointments. I waited about (2) hours in line as there were a mixture of appointments and non appointments. Once I was up, the process was seamless and Harry was professional and delightful to speak with. He answered all my questions in some of the areas I left blank on the application and he worked as quick as he could to get everyone taken care of. Definitely an efficient multitasker. Anyone coming here to get help with processing your passport, I'd say downloading or filling out the application ahead of time helps with the process and bring your photos and all supporting documents to make it quick and easy.

First time at the Eastridge Loop Post Office today--walk-in line was decently long (maybe 15-20…read moremins), but it zipped along thanks to three efficient clerks keeping things humming. Mailing a letter was straightforward; they had plenty of envelope options to choose along the walls. I went for priority shipping (~$0.70 extra), but my clerk slapped on some stamps (+$1.50) without a heads-up or asking--frustrating on principle, even if it's costly. Pro tip: Lines move fast, so jot your return address while waiting (no pens on hand--bring your own!). Solid 3 stars--efficient service saves the day, but transparency matters. I would swing by again if needed but will try to generally avoid.

As I was waiting in my car in the drive-through line, the person in front of me shouted out that the box was so full she could not put one more piece of mail in it. I parked in the side lot to go inside. As I was walking in, a man told me the mailbox inside was so full you had to hand your letters to someone behind the counter. I was bummed because I was in a hurry and didn't want to wait in line. Fortunately, it turned out you could walk right up to a worker who was accepting stamped, outgoing mail with no wait. He kindly stopped me to say one of my cards needed two stamps instead of one. He also complimented the stamps I was using, which were WPA posters from the Great Depression that I bought a few years ago. It was so nice of him. This post office always seems to be crowded, but I've only ever had good service here, except the time I saw a manager throw an outgoing box across the room years ago. That's an image I'll never forget. I vow to mail my cards well in advance of Christmas next year.

This review is specifically for the in-person passport photo service offered here…read more After a disappointing experience with FedEx's online partner (RushMyPassport/govWorks), we decided to try the non-virtual option. When I called to ask whether an appointment was needed and what the recommendations were about clothing, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the assistance I received by phone. The young woman who took my call was courteous and helpful. At the store, we were very positively impressed by the service provided by MANPREET, who proved to be both skilled and knowledgeable, as well as pleasant. After the photo was taken, she clearly explained to us details concerning what to expect after submitting the digital photo to the US passport website. In the event that the photo was rejected, Manpreet explained that we would be entitled to a retry or a refund. Thankfully, the image was accepted on the first try and I have since received both my new passport book and card. What was also greatly appreciated was the thumb drive provided by FedEx (at no additional charge!), as we had forgotten to bring our own. TIP #1: Make sure you don't wear a white/light-colored shirt or blouse, unless you have a dark jacket over it. Otherwise, you run a much higher risk that your photo will be rejected at the time of upload or submission by mail. TIP #2: In the event that RushMyPassport/govWorks takes your money without ever allowing you to download the image you paid for--even after reaching out for customer support (as was the case with us)--remember that you have the option of doing a charge back through your credit card company.

All I needed was to drop off a package that was already labeled. She insists that I use the self service area and guides me there so I can scan the package myself. Of course, the receipt doesn't print and I have to ask for assistance again. She has to go through the trouble of opening the lock box to get my package and go through the drop off process just to get me the transaction receipt. This could have all been avoided if she just did her job and helped me directly to begin with.
