I highly recommend downloading Uhauls app. While waiting in line, I checked in on the app and followed the instructions. You have to take a picture of yourself and your driver's license and locate the vehicle. When it was my turn to be helped, all I had to do was get the keys. So easy! read more

When we arrived, there was a person ahead of us so we waited outside (only 1 person was allowed in - covid rules). While we waited outside, other people kept going in/out to drop off/pick up mail. Appt ran late but was friendly and well organized with all the safety precautions. Had to tell a few people to wait outside due to small space we were all crammed into. Only 1 person was there on staff. Felt bad but occupant restrictions probably didn't help. Noticed that was also a remote u-haul spot too. I first used Mail Stop to rent a UHaul Van to pick up a beverage refrigerator for our sake import business. (Mail Stop.. it's not just for mail). Raj, the man behind the business, took great care of me, so much so, that I started using Mail Stop for urgent shipping needs. (And for renting a UHaul van a second time to pick up some lumber. ) And for notary services. And for friendly conversation, when nobody's in line. Here's where Raj went above and beyond...the other day I went to the store close to closing time. I had samples to send to two places in LA. One needed to be there the next day; the other was a two day shipment. As luck would have it, I just missed the FedEx guy who was picking up. Raj drove my stuff to FedEx himself. There was an end-of-day snafu at FedEx...so he shifted gears and shipped it via UPS, so it would get there on time. Long story short: the prospective client got his samples on time; we were able to have our Zoom meeting; and our prospective customer turned into a customer. I've been in a few times to drop off packages with return labels and boxes, always quick and easy. Had to ship a bulky item and a couple of others things I didn't have a box for so brought it to them in to see if they could pack them for me. Yup they could! And they had a used box available so they didn't charge me for that. I got the tracking number and could see it went out that afternoon, was delayed along the way due to weather - but just got confirmation everything arrived in great shape. I called today regarding a U-Haul reservation I booked almost a month ago because yesterday I received a reservation confirmation with incorrect info. The person that answered the phone was EXTREMELY rude! He asked me for my last name which I gave and he said he didn't have my reservation. I asked how could that be, that I have a confirmation number for that location, and if he could look up under the number and he said NO, that I need to call U-Haul customer service. All this was said in a very RUDE manner. At for which point he just hung up! Unbelievable! How is it ok to treat customers like this?! I strongly recommend not utilizing U-Haul services through this location!!! Update to this review 8/28/20: Check out Raj's response to my review. Instead of making excuses, how about apologize! I get Covid has created some barriers however this is not an excuse to be so unprofessional and rude to a customer! When I called this could have been explained to me with an apology, then refer me to customer service. Not act like a complete a$$ and hang up! Zero stars if i could. Owner gave us unsolicited advice that was completely not needed. Which could have been avoided if he spoke up to his other customer that wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. Would have been a fine experience if he didn't open his mouth and try to scold us for speaking with this other customer. Needed a notary done for my moms birth certificate and was not helpful at all. Once he took her cash he didn't say anything just walked in the back and left us standing there? You don't have to like your job but its not my fault you work here. The items were going out to 2 different people and for some reason I received a message that the person received the wrong package. So I came to this place to see what they can do for me. When I got here I explained to the owner what had happen and he didn't hesitate to say that it is my fault. The owner said that he doesn't make mistakes and that it is on my end where it went wrong. Once the package leaves his store its not his responsibility. I suggested that maybe he may have accidentally switched the labels and he talks over me and says I'm not listening to him and that I am disrespecting his small business. After talking to his assistant which she only made things worse for the owner, we compromised and he said he will help me find a solution. He asked for my name. Then he says I am not even in the system and I never sent anything out before. I have receipts to prove otherwise. It shows that he entered my name incorrectly (which is a mistake) then tell me that he was just trying to prove me wrong all along. He never went through with trying to help me. I still think that they had switched the labels around. They did not do the same procedures with me that they say they normally do with a customer and I can see that now reading other people's experiences that's he's not on top of his shit as his assistant made him seem to be. She even tried to say he has OCD. With the way the store looked... I don't think so. He even tried to threaten me saying "you don't know me." What's that mean? That he can do something to me? What a shame to have a business owner who makes small businesses look bad by treating the customer like shit. As a business owner myself I do what I need to keep my customers satisfied and happy. I was looking for a rental truck last minute for tomorrow morning. I would be moving several large, boxed furniture items from San Jose to Oakland for my move in day. Mail Stop has a high roof cargo van available to rent for $30 a day, plus $0.79 per mile. In comparison, U-Haul charges $1.89 per mile on top of the truck rental fee. I drove about 100 miles round trip with the van, saving me $110 than if I had gone with U-Haul instead! There is a $100 security deposit fee, but that was returned to me after returning the van. Renting the van with Mail Stop was quick and easy. The van had no issues, had A/C and even a rear view camera for when you backin' it up. The van easily fit a queen size bed foundation, queen size bed-in-a-box, a sofa bed (un-assembled in a box), 50-in TV, sound bar, subwoofer, and various boxes. There was still plenty of space to fit more boxes for clothes, dish-ware, etc. We Tetris'd all the items to make sure things weren't flying around while driving. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I'm grateful Mail Stop had a vehicle available to rent last minute. read more
