Interesting little PO at the corner of Comm Ave and Melrose St, I think the word I am looking for…read moreis "nondescript" for the building itself. PO is on the first floor, there is a small parking lot on one side with exit onto Melrose St. I only needed to drop off a small package with a paid label on it, and the box to put packages in said "letters only". I went in and the guy in front of me was dropping off something he had received by mistake (pretty nice, most people would probably just toss it out) and I handed my package to the nice woman at the counter. She was very nice, gave me a receipt so I could track it and off I went. If you were to go here during the holidays - or to get your envelope postmarked on April 15 - the line would probably be out the door since it is a tiny space, but arrive early or go to another location (that probably will not have free parking).

Watch out! Verbally abusive postal clerk! I have never been to a post office that didn't have drop…read moreoff service for prepaid packages. When I arrived at the post office there was no prepaid drop box in the hallway. There was a long line of people waiting in line to do business that involved clerk services. As is the custom in every other post office that I have frequented, I politely excused myself as I went to drop my package off at the counter. Suddenly the big burly male clerk shouted at me yelling about how I had Cut the line. I politely explained that my package was prepaid and I was leaving it on the counter as I was the protocol in Newtonville. The clerk snarked at me saying "Well this isn't Newtonville". I was so shocked and offended by his raging, disproportionate response to my mistake that I snatched my package and turned to leave. I didn't intend to but was so upset that I shouted "F" YOU, on my way out the door. I am embarrassed by my blurted response. However, I have NEVER been treated so abusively. That clerk has no business working with the public!

Writing a review of a post office has to be a lowpoint in my Yelp career. But it has to be done so…read morethat other Yelpers avoid this horrific location. Allow me the opportunity to explain. This post office opens at 9AM on weekdays. I arrive at 8:59AM on a Wednesday morning and see 4 other customers standing out in the rain waiting for the location to open. I hop out of my car, assuming that we will all be headed inside shortly. At 9:03AM, the post office remains closed and we all look inside the front window to see what the hold up is. After all, it is raining, and we would all like to be doing something other than standing in the rain. There is a USPS employee standing inside. She makes eye contact with the group standing at the window, and waves us away. Yep... she made a hand gesture to tell us to screw off. At that point, the other customers leave. I am the only moron who remains. At 9:07AM, the USPS employee unlocks the door. I walk in and this conversation ensues: Me: What was that? USPS employee: The computer wasn't working, what do you want me to do? Me: Uhh... open the door at 9AM so that customers aren't waiting in the rain at least. USPS employee: I'll do whatever I want. I'm the manager here. I'd love to have a job where I can show up whenever I want... anyone know if USPS is hiring?

I tried to explain I dropped a package off at the post office a week ago, but my tracking information was still showing "pre-transit", meaning it hadn't been scanned into the system yet. Wanted to know if it was still there, and what was going on. She didn't ask for my tracking number, didn't ask what size the package was or what it looked like, nothing. Literally just said "well, I don't know.".....okay, thanks for the help?
