I am very happy with the service that i have received at the Belmont branch. Post office staff are not know for being the most polite or helpful but i am finally happy to say that today Cassiel made me believe that maybe they are not all the same. He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He recommended a service that ended up being much cheaper than what i had in mind and it will arrive within my timeframe. I can't speak as far as the other employees but Cassiel certainly goes above and beyond to deliver superior customer service. read more

I made a passport appointment for 1230. When I got there, there was a line out the door. They told me I had to wait in line not honoring my appointment time. This would be ok if I'm not recovering from surgery and should have been in bed. When I finally got called up I then had to wait for the other gentleman at the other window so another 5 mins. When I was finally seen the guy puts my paper work together I tell him to just charge me whatever cause I was ready to get out of there he insisted on giving me the break down. I told this man I couldn't stand anymore. Then to make matters worse when I was done with my transaction he reads LOUDLY OUTLOUD said my name, address and phone number. In a post office full of strangers. Pii is obviously something not stressed or enforced at this location. They need someone to go in there and organize that post office. Put those employees thru training. I do want to add that despite the negligence the agent I worked with was being nice. He just wasn't listening and leaked out my personal information. read more

I've noticed on Yelp that almost all the post offices in the Boston area get dismal 2-star ratings and reviews, and figured that no one bothers to review the *post office* unless they're really ticked off! But I have to say that the Belmont post office workers are the nicest, friendliest people and so helpful. It may seem irrelevant to write a Yelp review for a post office--but I saw this location had a pretty mediocre rating and I thought I would put my two cents in. Forget everything you know about your typical grumpy Post Office workers! The staff at this location are friendly and extremely fast. They are all knowledgeable and are able to have a fun time at their job. The energy in this post office is pretty different. The parking situation sucks however! The street parking can build up pretty fast because it's Belmont. The lot on the side is extremely small. I typically tend to park at various businesses and walk. The only benefit is people typically don't spend a lot of time at the post office. read more

I arrived at your Belmont USPS on Concord Ave with 70 bubble envelopes to mail. I pre-addressed them all but I had no idea of the process to send them out. Because of the Pandemic, my Baby Shower had to be "Virtual" and away from all of our loved ones. I was showered with gifts through the mail and I wanted to thank everyone with a little special "favor" that had to be sent in bubble envelopes. As I approached your desk with my giant bag of envelopes I could only imagine what your employees were thinking. I apologized for the large order and asked if there was an easier way for me to print and send them on my own time. But to my surprise, Stephen greeted me with a smile (and a little laugh) and said "No worries at all, I'll just work fast". And that's exactly what he did while his two colleagues helped your numerous other customers. Cassiel jumped in as well to help when he was free of customers and before I knew it I left with my 5 foot long receipt of tracking numbers and I thought to myself "wow, I will never go to a different usps again, they are SO kind and efficient in there!". Long story short, this usps location needs to be recognized. I understand to some they may just be "doing their job" but what I experienced was more than that from all three of your employees working the front desk on Wednesday 1/13/2021. I've had to go to this post office a few times lately for wedding related postal business, and I felt compelled to add the listing to yelp and write a review. The customer service here is so terrible that it's actually uncomfortable to be a customer here. There is one woman who is pretty much always there who is the GRUMPIEST, angriest person I have ever seen--if you go in and see her, you'll know exactly who I am talking about. She is not only brash and never friendly, she actually berates customers for being too slow, having an accent, or even just needing service. It's uncomfortable to hear her talk to other customers, particularly this one elderly gentleman who she treated like a dumb child because he spoke with an accent. I always cross my fingers that I won't get her, and it's bad when I do. For instance, the last time I had her, I was dropping off a package, only I needed to add another layer of packing tape to it (I ran out at home). I have mailed off quite a few packages in my life, and the post office has ALWAYS provided packing tape if I needed a little extra. When I said I needed tape, she just looked at me, then said, "well, you have to buy it." Okayyy...so I paid $3.29 for a roll of tape. She did not offer scissors or anything to help me cut the tape after I put it on myself...in fact, she walked to the back of the server area so after I finished taping, I had to just leave my package and walk out. She didn't even take it off the counter! The whole encounter was so rude. I understand silly rules, but I've worked in customer service. If I had to tell someone to buy tape, I would have, in a FRIENDLY, respectful way, explained that it's a policy that customers need to buy the tape and offered to help get the package taped. Instead, this woman looked at me like I had seven heads and was a moron, told me I needed to buy it in an almost sarcastic tone (like EVERY IDIOT knows you have to buy a roll of tape to send off a freakin' package!). If it was just the one woman, I would understand. Everyone knows a witch or two. But this other time, I had a very nice lady help me choosing stamps for my wedding invitations. I asked her about getting the invitations hand canceled when I finished them, and she told me that they'd be happy to do that if I brought them all back to post office. I brought them back a couple of weeks later and brought them to the EXACT SAME WOMAN. When I asked about hand canceling, she just said "we don't have time to do that!" and then offered to sell me something so I could go and cancel them myself. Rather taken aback, I assumed that since it was a Friday afternoon, she just didn't want to stay late to hand cancel invitations. I explained that I didn't need them to go out that very day, so it wasn't a problem if they needed more time. "We will NEVER have time to hand cancel YOUR invitations; you have to do it yourself." Okayyyy...then why did you tell me you'd do it two weeks ago?!?! Look, I hate going to any post office...I try to put my mail in a box on the street and get it out of my own box. I buy packing supplies at Staples and even pre-print shipping labels in order to avoid spending time at the Post Office. But sometimes, trips to the PO are unavoidable, and my last few experiences at the Belmont Center PO have convinced me to NEVER return here. It may only be my own small protest, but I'd rather drive to Arlington or Watertown than have to deal with the angriest, least helpful, "customer service" that I have ever encountered. read more

I have to agree with Elizabeth. The day I decided to drop off my two packages, must have been the worst day I had in long time. Not only it ruined my mood for entire Saturday, my aggravation due to such horrific customer service extended to the next day. The same woman, Elizabeth is referring to, worked that Saturday morning when I arrived to the post office. Unaware what was about to go down, I proceeded to the counter and announced what I was there for. I had two packages to mail out, one to Italy and one domestic. The fact that The Woman had an attitude, was pretty obvious from the start. Just her tone of voice spoke for itself. It got interesting when it was time to select a shipping method for a package to Italy. When I said that I would like to send it with standard shipping, she got all smart with me, saying that there is no such thing as standard shipping and that I should make myself more clear. Somewhat shocked of her attitude, I tried to explain what I mean by "standard" because apparently she could not figure it out on her own. After few words, she cut me off in very condescending manner and suggested that I didn't know what I was talking about! And as it so happens to be I speak with accent, I was instantly taken for a complete idiot! At that point I had it! Who she thinks she is? What the hell! "Are you trying to ruin my day?? I asked. Obviously, I was not just going to stand there and take this bs! Of course, the dialog that broke off from that point forward is not necessary to mention here but you can imagine how she instantly threw the authority card at me. It was really unbelievable! It is not even so much what she said but how she said it. The way she spoke to me was just unacceptable, I am surprised she has not been fired yet. Somebody with such poor customer service skill, shouldn't work in public. What a sad person........ I was in a bad mood the entire day and somewhat regret I didn't file a complaint with the management right there and then. My advice to you is: STAY AWAY! If you want to have a decent customer service, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! At least when you speak with an accent! I rather stick needles under my nails in slow motion than go back there! read more
