The only hard part about coming here is the lack of parking. There are only a few dedicated spots next to the building, and the street can be full. I never thought that a post office could be welcoming as this one customer service representative is each and every time I enter the post office. I don't know her name yet. I've only visited this post office three times to mail letters and documents for my family. Each time I visited this post office, I was greeted by this friendly face working behind the counter with a smile. WHAT!!?? Is she smiling? Is she actually greeting me? Is she providing friendly customer service? OMG!?!? Twilight Zone?!? No, I am really experiencing this great service and a pretty good personality. PO is on the first floor, there is a small parking lot on one side with exit onto Melrose St. I only needed to drop off a small package with a paid label on it, and the box to put packages in said "letters only". I went in and the guy in front of me was dropping off something he had received by mistake (pretty nice, most people would probably just toss it out) and I handed my package to the nice woman at the counter. She was very nice, gave me a receipt so I could track it and off I went. If you were to go here during the holidays - or to get your envelope postmarked on April 15 - the line would probably be out the door since it is a tiny space, but arrive early or go to another location (that probably will not have free parking).

As is the custom in every other post office that I have frequented, I politely excused myself as I went to drop my package off at the counter. Suddenly the big burly male clerk shouted at me yelling about how I had Cut the line. I politely explained that my package was prepaid and I was leaving it on the counter as I was the protocol in Newtonville. The clerk snarked at me saying "Well this isn't Newtonville". I was so shocked and offended by his raging, disproportionate response to my mistake that I snatched my package and turned to leave. I didn't intend to but was so upset that I shouted "F" YOU, on my way out the door. I am embarrassed by my blurted response. However, I have NEVER been treated so abusively. Three arrived fine, but one, a floor lamp, arrived broken in two pieces. Since then, I've made more than a dozen attempts to get compensation, including several visits to the store, phone calls to the UPS complaint numbers, and emails. I have an official "claim number" from UPS, but the only substantive response is a verbal reply from the store manager that they weren't able to provide any compensation for the loss.
