-1 star for the hour I waited in line here on a weekday late morning, with only one person (!!) available at the counter. -1 for the self-help kiosk with the busted QR scanner. I had two packages with prepaid labels that I just needed to drop off and get the receipt with a tracking number, which is exactly what the kiosk could've accomplished if it was in working order. -1 for the completely lackadaisical service. Fine if you're in the area and need to drop something off but be sure to budget a substantial wait regardless of what time you go. Absolutely unacceptable. I have never seen such ignorance in my life. I went to mail an important package and they were closed from 2 to 3 for lunch. I waited patiently until almost 315. The guy pictured comes out walking just about as slow as a person could walk with several people in line. Very, very slowly, he opens things back up. I didn't think it would be possible for somebody to walk this slow. He truly did not give a rats ass about the customer This is pure lazy government employees absolutely disgusting This man will never amount to anything because he clearly did not care and purposely went extra slow when he saw I was starting to get impatient. He was so rude that I was afraid to leave my package that he would deliberately damage it or make sure it didn't get to its destination. This man should be fired. read more

Avoid if possible. This is your typical poorly run postal office. Went in there to mail a letter and waited for 20 minutes while the counter clerk lazily and rudely kept telling the few people in front of me what was wrong with their package and sent them back to the counter to fix it. He also would not take the next person until the previous fixed their issue. The other clerk ignored us and kept sorting letters in the next station over. I ran out of time waiting for this lazy crew and had to leave without mailing my letter. The post office in Newton Highlands was much better. read more

I stopped in to pick up a package and there were only 4 people in front of me in the line. 40 minutes later I finally made it to the front. The fact that there was only one person working the front is simply a lack of respect to the individuals that use this location. read more

Horrible experience with the employee who handles the passports' renewal. Impolite to the extent that he was yelling at us. The passport counter was taken by other clients who were mailing boxes from the wrong counter. We had an appointment husband & wife which we were excused only for 1h from our work hours just to be with our minor to renew her passport; we ended up wasting our time yelled at & got humiliated. I feared he would sabotage our application process so I decided not to renew the passport there. He was extremely rude to us. Never had such an experience. read more

Debbie was amazing. We forgot to make an appointment for our passport renewal, and she let us give her our number so that she could call us when someone cancelled their appointment. Even though nobody cancelled their appointment, she still made sure we got our passports renewed, working extra time at the end of her shift. I have never had an experience quite like this at a USPS. I waited to write this review so that I could to go to another post office and confirm the arbitrary issues the postal worker was creating were indeed him not knowing how to do his job. I wouldn't have given this place a single star but the three stars are partially in the hope that he will learn and partially because i didn't know which forms to fill out and naively thought the workers would be more helpful than they were. I went into the Beacon St. post office four days ago on Monday to mail a package to Canada. I admittedly do not have any experience mailing international packages and did not know what to fill out so I assumed that the postal worker would tell me as they have in the past at other post offices for domestic packages. Got a box off the wall to purchase. Glad they have the stickers on the box itself now to secure the package without having to purchase more tape. I packed it up, wrote the address and just didn't tape the top yet. One of the workers was watching me the entire time but waited until it was my turn to tell me "no no go back, the box has to be fully taped and ready by the time you get to the front." But still nothing about a form. Fully taped up the box, back in line. This time I got the other postal worker. He curtly tells me, you have to fill out the customs declaration form "go back, no no, everybody has to go back in line." I said sure, went back, filled out the form and got back in line. I left the weight blank because I did not know how much it weighs and thought the postal worker would weigh the package. He weighs it and tells me 1 lb 3 oz, which I wrote down. And then he says you wrote that there's three items in the box so write the weight of each item and it has to equal 1 lb 3 oz. I thought that was a bit strange as not everyone comes in knowing how much each item in their package weighs, especially since they expect you to have it all taped up by the time you get to the counter but Okie dokie. Back to the counter. I figured since it was not possible to weigh each item at that point i would just divide the total number of ounces by 3. I know 1 LB = 16 ozs, so it's 19 ozs total, and 19/3 = 6.3 ozs. I mean that was more math than I was expecting to do to mail a simple package but I did it. Anyway I wrote down 6.3 ounces per item and 1 Lb 3 Ozs for the total and got back in line. At this point I have been back in line a number of times and I am running late to pick up my kiddo from school. When it's my turn, the worker again tells me the computer is not letting him enter 6.3 for each item to make it total 1 lb 3 ozs so go back in line and figure it out again. Now I had a sense that he was entering it wrong but he was starting to yell at me "I'm just doing my job, you go back and figure it out, you people don't come back and tell me if customs sends the package back!" And so on and so forth. At this point I was ready to give up on customer service and call it a day because I was running late to pick up my son from school. So I told him "you know what you don't have to be rude, I am out of time now so I will have to go to another post office to figure it out. Goodbye." He shrugs and I leave. I got into my car and he comes out and bangs on my window "you have to pay for the box." I was really running late at this point so I gave him cash and explained I really have to go. He yelled "no you have to come back in, i have to ring up THIS box." So once again, I went back in stood in line for the fourth time paid for the box and ultimately wasted 40 minutes because the package did not get mailed. Today I went to the little post office on Lincoln st. and, as I suspected, the worker there confirmed that I did not have to write the weight of each item, it was enough to just write the total and list the items. TL;DR: do not go here to mail things if you think you might have any questions because the workers at the beacon st. P.O. will not help and will likely make it harder for you. read more

The staff at this location couldn't be friendlier! They are always so helpful and professional-even when an angry man in line said was extremely rude. After my completed visit, I left happy and satisfied only to find the angry man outside, who told me I did not deserve the quality of service I received. Made an appointment to get passport for my son and due to staffing issues, they canceled our appointment withOUT notifying us. Got to the post office and saw signs posted up front that they are "not accepting passport today." Asked the older Asian lady in glasses and she was so rude, didn't even look at me nor apologize. To get a passport for my son/minor, both parents need to be present. We made effort and time to get to appointments on time, leaving work early, while dragging the whole family with us to make this appointment. We deserve an apology! read more

The staff do try really hard but it's frequently understaffed and the "self-service" kiosk doesn't take chip-enabled credit cards - so you go through all of the steps and then are foiled at the end...and then have to go wait in the long line with only one person helping customers. read more

I don't bother going here during business hours. I come for the automated package sending setup - open 24 hours so my lazy ass can mail boxes out after work or on the weekends. While USPS has a great thing going with the automated postal system... this place never, EVER, EVERRR has a goddamn PEN. What's the point of having a fancy one-stop-and-ship setup, if you can't write the address on your fancy label that the machine spits out? Its like the employees purposely remove all pens in the lobby when they close. Why??? So if you ever plan to send something with the "automated" system - bring a pen. read more

Used to be very professional stuff and helpful and courteous! Especially guy who did passports. Pleasure! Now the stuff changed ... Person was not efficient or knowledgable took forever to find correct zip code.. I had a heavy package to mail with little infant in my arms.. he kept giving me Hard time, It took 45 minutes and I gave up. People in Newton center post office please train your staff before they are ready to take care of customer. That person seem so new to this job. I came in there was no line 45 min to mail 2 package one local and 1 international!!! Is too much.. He kept clarifying things with someone not knowing the rules. read more

Having just moved to the area, I have a lot of shipping needs - mostly returning things I thought I needed and now don't! Unfortunately, this post office is a bit too small, and around the holidays WAY too crowded to be convenient. I've found myself hauling large packages onto the T on my way to work just to get to any of the post offices downtown where the lines move much faster. I would have given this two stars but the staff is really pleasant and has always been helpful - so +1 for that. Something you can't always take for granted with the USPS. read more

I had the worst experience from a post office. The staff Michael who served me was absolutely horrible and very unprofessional!!! Here is the story: It's a Saturday afternoon past 1pm, there was a long line before my turn. I waited about 35 minutes. Finally, it came to my turn. It was an international package with 2 items in it. And I wanted to control the weight to 2lb since I don't necessary need to ship one of the items ( I filled out the custom form except the contents. I asked him to weight the package for me. He seemed so annoyed and kept telling me that I don't need to know. It literally took him no extra effort to do this. He started to tell me that there 's a long line behind which I absolutely was aware of. So he ordered me to step aside and filled the content ( it took 5 seconds) which I did. Then there was another lady's turn after me. She wasn't ready as well. Instead, he didn't ask her to step aside and filled the address. He just let her take her time to do it in front of the counter. I couldn't understand that and I said " how come she got to fill out the rest of the form in your counter and you didn't even bother to take 5 seconds to weight my package". He responded" it's different, I am selling her a upgrade service". What is worst, he said to me in front of other customers in line twice " I am not serving you next, you have to wait for the other counter!" How unprofessional this is to say to a customer when you are selling a service. This is absolutely not acceptable!! I couldn't stand all of the humiliations and what he said to me in front of so many people. I called out his manager. I was in tears when I told him the whole story. I wish the store manager can give the employees proper trainings so they don't humiliate customers in the future. If this is a private company, it will be out of business long time ago!!! read more

Who wants to deal with a person when you can deal with unbiased cold hard machines? As long as you have a credit card, you can do almost everything 24/7 at the automated mailing center. I love this feature. The 24 hour access makes a great deal of sense to me as most people I know have 9-5 jobs. Whenever I am in there during business hours, there is always some ridiculous Newtonitee being ridiculous to one of the clerks. You would go postal too. read more

Why did I wait in line for 30 minutes so you could tell me that you can't tape my package, I have to buy tape, and you can't hold the line for me to do it? This is my local post office and since I've been a teenager, the employees have been rude and unhelpful- very different than the employees in the Newtonville office who seem to remember their customers and are very helpful. West Newton, MA Post office. I just received a mail important from the Mass Dept. of Revenue that my address was changed recently to a new address that I do not know about it. I tried to contact the post office no answer. I want to know how come someone can at random changed the address without an ID to prove they are the right person I am still in my home for 8 years. didn't change yet. What is going on. I am going to the one in Lynn to see if they can help me I don't even know where W.
