Broken operation! Tracking a heavy, expensive, priority mail package online, I learned it had made it as far as the Menlo Park post office, where it was listed as "out for delivery" for three days. I visited the post office where they said they would check around and contact me (didn't). I phoned in and spoke with an angry supervisor who said the carrier was sure he delivered the package and just forgot to scan the code. I called every day for the next 3 days. Between busy signals I spoke with a series of clueless individuals. Two were very hard to understand basic English. One said he would "try to talk to the carrier." Four days later I see the package was routed back to San Francisco for an insufficient address. No word about where it spent the last week? I'm sure it's happy to escape Menlo Park! read more

I would say that I was just lucky here. I needed to apply for a passport for my new born son. I was not aware that this is peak season for the passport application and all passport application acceptance facilities are running with a back log of 5-10 weeks. I called up at least a dozen places around my area. There were only 2-3 facilities which accept walk-ins and to be a part of the chosen 40-50 daily, you need to reach those places way early in the morning and queue up. This was the last place I called up yesterday. It was late and the passport person had already gone for the day but the receptionist took my name and number to call back. In the end, she also informed me that there would be a passport fair tomorrow 10-1PM if you wanted to walk in. I accepted that gladly. Reached there today at 9:40AM and we were 10th in the queue. They did start before 10 as queue had built up. They arranged some table and chairs for the persons waiting in the queue. It was taking about 10 mins per family, depending on the number of persons applying and the completeness of the form and documents. We were done by 11:40AM or so. This was way better than waiting for 6 weeks for an appointment. Found all of the staff people friendly and helping. To surprise everyone, the main person coordinating the whole thing, started making balloon toys for young ones there. Overall it was a great experience in a real need. It is 1 star short just because the place is not ready for walk-ins with no public toilets which is probably understandable as they don't accept walk-ins in general. In the end it was a lucky call and half a day visit to the place was fulfilling. read more

I've had a p.o. Box there for a while now, and have experienced missed deliveries (important mail didn't arrive) as well as other people's mail in my box. Complaining is like yelling down a black hole, no results, no feedback. Then, today, I found my box taped off, turned out they failed to register my online renewal payment, and nobody could tell me where my last two weeks' mail was. True to form, these government employees all referred to responsible persons' coffee breaks. Honestly, it will be no loss to the community if they shutter this branch. This station sucks. i tried calling about a package that was so called delivered yesterday 04/04/13 and it wasn't. i called the Bohannon P.O. and Adolph(i can picture him having one of those Chaplin-like mustaches) was a very rude indivudual, telling me that it wasnt his problem that the site is automatically updated and nothing id for sure!!. if i wasnt working i would go there and go postal on him!! everyone talks tough on the phone. OK, first time, shame on them. Second, third and fourth time - shame on me. EVERY single time I have shipped a package from here it is somehow more expensive than the quote online at usps.com. Meaning I have a digital scale at work because we have to ship out accurately weighed shipments via Fed Ex every day. Well, somehow, this particular post office's scales always show that the package weighs more than it does on the scale at work (by approx. 2 ounces). I have not had this problem at any other location - just here. And as a person who sells stuff on Etsy and eBay regularly, I have lost money on 3 different sales due to overage in shipping FROM this one branch. NEVER AGAIN. Methinks they are padding their scales to make a few extra bucks. And while I'm at it accusing the PO of bad things, WTF happened to cheap shipping? I mean, it is often cheaper for me to mail stuff out via UPS ground nowadays. I feel like my wallet gets raped every time I go to the post office. It's putting me out of business. Which is sad. I am fed up receiving mail address to people I do not know. I have live in this town for over decade. This is the first year that I am receiving mail marked with the wrong house number, catalogs with the wrong names and international packages claimed to be delivered on that day but never received until the next day. read more

When you try to give this post office a phone call (say to make an appointment for a passport application) it's always busy. When you come during a busy time (say, lunch or just folks get off work) there are often long lines - yet - strangely, there is absolutely no discernible rush on part of the postal workers who proceed with their work as if they had only one customer in the post office. And they seem to be chatting away quite happily with whomever they are serving. Maybe that's not making the service much slower, but their apparent lack of caring for how long customers have to wait is a bit irritating. read more

We moved from Menlo Park to Redwood City on 5/28/14. We submitted the "Mail Forwarding Service" 2 weeks before hand. Until now we only received a few forwarding mails. There are a lot of mails/checks from the insurance companies that they sent to the old address since May until now that we are still not receiving them. This is horrible! read more

They lost our two different packages in two weeks both due delivery on Fridays!! The USPS website says it is delivered but we did not receive anything! We were watching the postman car while he was in front of the building and he didn't bring anything to us, yet reported that the package is delivered! When we went there and complain they just say that they have new employees who are not well trained and they are sorry for that! This place is stale. The guy helping us didn't have a name tag or I'd state who helped me. Trying to ship something to China and I don't really know what box to pick so I don't pay insane fees and of course he is very put out and upset that he works in customer service and has to help me. On top of that he was so tight lipped, spoke very few words to me. Just rude. I hope his day gets better. read more

I am not talking about the over-the-counter service, but about the basic mail delivery service in its territory. Since I moved to this area, there have been numerous times of wrong/none deliveries. We also keep receiving letters to other addresses. In spite of two complaint letters to the postmaster, the service has not improved much. DON'T use this location for passport applications! You have to call for an appointment, yet nobody picks up the phone. I called them 10 times yesterday, and 12 times today. They picked up once, promised that the responsible person would call me back. Of course I did not get a call back. I called them back (over and over) and finally got somebody to pick up the phone. The earliest appointment they could give me is over a month from now! Come on - 30 workdays later? read more

Not sure what everyone is b****ing about here. I get there just before 9:30, which is when it opens, with maybe 5 people in line. The door opens, and from that worker we get a string of "good mornings." There are 2 people working the desk. There is one more who handles package pickups. I give her the orange slip the mailman dropped off 3 days ago indicating in-person pickup or redelivery. I get my package and sign the slip. Done. This took maybe 5 minutes tops. read more

I don't have my mail delivered from this post office but I do stop in quite often because it is near my work. I recently got married and have spent a lot of time mailing out save the dates and wedding invitations from this post office. I have found the employees to be really nice and helpful. Note for brides: they will let you hand-cancel your invitations here. Many post offices won't let you but they have no problem handing the stamp over to you here! I also have P.O. Box here and have had no problems with it. read more

I tried reporting an incident last week and no one ever got back to me. A mail carrier had opened my front door and delivered 2 packages without ringing my doorbell! I find this objectionable! No one ever called me back or emailed me back to explain why the mail carrier did that. Was he/she inexperienced? I complained to a postal service employee named Adolph Granato, whom I was told to contact. I really find this unacceptable. read more
