With cellphone/instant communication in today's (and tomorrow's) World, I strongly prefer written…read morecommunications, specifically postcards. For decades, as I've travelled the World, I've always found the postal service--regardless of the country of origin (though most frequently the USA)--an extremely effective means of sending heartfelt messages that carry far more impact than an brief text message or email (though pix, when appropriately captioned, are very powerful statements, too!). Whilst a teacher in the World-class Ysleta ISD, part of my employment involved helping students obtain their very first (paid) employment, usually in fast-food. I regularly would visit with the employers, who might get as many as 100 applications a week, which is, of course, an overwhelming amount of competition for the few openings. It was during the visits that I'd ask if they had received a postcard from me; realizing that I was there on the behalf of my students, that single application would suddenly go to the head of the line for consideration. I was always pleased when they were bona fide paid employees, and like to think that my postcard enabled it! Yes, that was a digression, but I could not have performed that important part of my teaching position without the postal service, especially the USPS. While I wasn't at this great post office sending postcards (I'd retired 31DEC2017 from YISD after 28 years in the classrooms), I was performing a vital document delivery for my much better half, and the postal date-time stamp was important. Whilst in the queue, I witnessed the hallmark of ALL USPS personnel, which is unfailing service to every customer, regardless if that customer is positive or negative (I'm always positive). This particular customer ahead of me should have never come into the post office; he was determined to make someone pay for his horrific inadequacies/poor planning. Unable to get his mail acted upon in exactly the way he wanted, he berated the window agent, threatening later action with her supervisor. The wonderful window agent maintained very professional demeanor and responded to every question with calmness and clarity. She was the perfect representation of EVERY postal worker I've encountered in over a half-century by demonstrating her commitment to the "service" in "United States Postal Service". It's unfortunate that some (influential) people fail to understand how incredibly important the USPS is to an effective/fully functioning USA, but it is another gleaming aspect in our currently floundering country! Obviously, I highly recommend this station (as well as all around d the USA); it definitely has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!"

I've been to this FedEx Office location in the past -- but never to actually ship an item. Rather,…read moreI've used their printing services and shopped around the items that they have available for sale. This morning, I needed to send a very heavy item across the country. I've had such bad experiences with the United States Post Office over the last couple of months; so, I decided to give FedEx a chance. After all, I never have issues with FedEx when a package is mailed to me (whether from business or friend/family). I had read several sources online that explained that FedEx is often the surprisingly less-expensive choice for larger or heavier packages (*anything over 2 lbs). I used the price calculator on their websites -- and the cheapest USPS option for my package was nearly $100 more for this package! I didn't want to risk paying so much for service that has been very inconsistent. So, choosing FedEx is a "no-brainer." This FedEx Office location is ALWAYS clean. It is also very convenient (and with ample parking in front or the rear lot) -- despite the busy nature of California Avenue (even further east near the Mollie Stone's grocery store where this particular FedEx Office is located). The employee behind the shipping counter was extraordinarily helpful. As I stood in a short line, I listened as he patiently helped a man sending multiple packages. He answered every one of that man's questions (which helped me just by hearing those answers). The employee noticed that I had not filled out a label on my package. So he paused while helping the man at the counter and invited me to fill out a form on the table to my left. It was a simple and easy form -- as straightforward as a certain TV detective used to say, "Just the facts." When I arrived to the counter a few moments later, I was greeted with a smile (beaming even from beneath his COVID mask). He offered all of the information that I needed in a quick, professional and patient manner. He seemed genuinely happy for my business. This is a stark contrast with the "service with a scowl" that (unfortunately) seems to be the norm at the USPS now. Plus, I have the added benefit of realizing that FedEx always seems to have better reliability when it comes to delivery. I will certainly be back! I live nearby, so I can actually walk from my home to this location. It's not far from the California Avenue CalTrain station in Palo Alto. Well done, FedEx Office. Well done!

Came in to order some printed material recently. Coy and Eli were super helpful, five stars each…read morefor both of them. Order was correct and on time! And then Nathan had to ruin it. Had a friend go in to pick up the order on my behalf and he refused to release it without a photo ID or make even the slightest effort to be helpful or find a solution. I had to drive an hour down from San Francisco to show my ID for the pickup. The most irritating part was that once I arrived, the person at the counter asked for my name, took the payment, handed over the order without a word about IDs. Employees like Nathan should not be allowed anywhere near customers. His attitude and unhelpfulness made a five-star review into a one-star review. I've spent a few thousand dollars each year at this location, would not want to go back.
