This Post Office is located in the downtown area of Menlo Park. There's no specific parking lot, but there are several lots downtown that you can park at. There are two street parking spots in front that are temporary 15 minute spots. There is minimal street parking. Parking can be a pain during peak hours when downtown is busy. If you park in the lot behind the building, there's a hallway that lets you enter from behind too so you don't have to walk all the way around. Very average post office, nothing really special. The office was closed today. No reason given. A note was taped to the top of the door - you would not see it unless you craned your neck to look up. Note said that they would reopen at 1:30 pm. Least they could do was to replenish priority mail envelopes and boxes in the lobby before their impromptu closing. The post lady inside held a piece of mail in front of her face so she I guess could not see me? She would not replenish the boxes in the lobby and let the last customer out through the back door - the whole time with her back to me. read more

If I could leave 0 I would. We've all heard the saying "going postal"? Well I actually saw it live at this post office. I went into the post office because I was worried about a birthday card I wanted to send. It was a unique card and it weighed more than average and I needed it hand stamped. I brought it up to a postal clerk, who I later learned was the supervisor and asked if I had enough postage on it. She literally gave offf the feeling of someone who really hated her job, but she managed to grunt her response in the affirmative. I left it at that until it came back to me postage due! I went back to this post office to make a complainant and this woman literally started screaming in front of a full post office in front of people who could not believe it was happening.i It was a frightening experience and I could realistically see how a worker at the post office could just lose it and become dangerous. I don't know what it is about the US Postal Service that makes their employees lose it, but there's no doubt they lose it. read more

There is an older gentleman that worked there today, who I have also seen work at the Menlo Park branch near Marsh Road, who is consistently rude and short. Before Covid, it was hard to understand him because he spoke so softly, but with the barriers and masks, its much harder. I understand that it is a tough job working at a post office especially when times people come in with entitled attitudes. They don't pick up phone. The automatic system doesn't work - no agent available- tracking number doesn't exist even I was informed I got mail and should reschedule delivery to the my po box. When you go inside the post office -bad customer service- they are some Asian person he is so rude annoyed to give me my mail. read more

I send a lot of packages to friends and relatives, and a few business items. I give 'F' grades to two clerks here and the supervisor, Nancy, The clerks, one man, one woman, were just hostile. When I complained to Nancy, it was clear they ran the show, not her. I go elsewhere whenever I can. Best, I use on-line postage to avoid the lines. I ship plenty of packages because I sell items on eBay and Poshmark. Because I print my shipping labels at home, I just need a place to drop off my packages. This location is open late (I've gone into the lobby after 9:30 p.m.), it has an Automated Postal Center (APC), and it has a drop off box to fit small and large packages. I've gone inside during business hours, and I've been lucky enough to get in and out. Just like every other post office I've been to, they do have one person behind the counter when six people are in line, so I've knocked off a star for that (gosh, GOVERNMENT)! Avoid this branch. The service is always terrible, and the employees seem completely demoralized. This week I gave them a try again. I took in a Thanksgiving card to be sure it had enough postage. I was so upset when I left this post office yesterday. I bought a beautiful card for a friend for a special occasion. Decorations were glued on the front and it was in a fancy envelop. It was larger than a standard envelope so I thought it would require extra postage. I wanted the cashier to simply weigh it on the scale in front of him and let me know. Instead, he took the card from me, smashed it all over between both of his thumbs and index fingers while turning it all around trying to figure out what was in it and THEN he forcefully bent it back and forth!! I was stunned and I couldn't get my words out, it happened too fast. I wanted to yell, "STOP!!! What the hell?!?"... Someone with common sense would know that it should be handled with care and not so rough since it was a pretty envelope, hand addressed and stickers on the front. I'm sure some of the decorations on the card were damaged inside after he man-handled it. I'll have to send my friend a note to apologize for what was supposed to be a beautiful intact card. I'm still fuming from this.... I don't think this post will help, these guys probably do not give a crap about being careful with our mail. I just needed to vent... so upsetting. read more

I come to this Post Office all the time. You can't beat the location, it's near all the nice downtown Menlo Park stuff. I would have to interpret the service here as not friendly but not rude either. What do you expect from govies? I've always had to wait in line, but I've never waited longer than 10 minutes either. So far, so good. "Govie" means government employee. I hate going to the post office because I don't understand how mail works. I have no idea how much stamps cost or what things I can ship and how much shipping will vaguely cost. First perk: The automatic mail machine in the lobby is available even when the staffed area is closed. I find it easy to use, though people over the age of 50 seem to have difficulties with it. Second perk: One of the employees (Richard) has a sense of humor. All of the people I have interacted with have been very patient with my requests for more exciting stamps and complicated questions. Richard joked that our flat-rate box would cost $200 to ship. We didn't realise he was joking, of course, but it must be a good sign that he can still joke. read more

I never thought that I'd spend so much time in Post Office's but I seem to come pretty often. This location is allllllways busy. If you can go to either of the ones on Woodside Rd. I would recommend those more if you are concerned about time. If you don't mind waiting, the staff here is friendly and frankly they want to get you out just as fast as you want to get out! The lines here are manageable, especially if you come on off-peak hours, but the employees are so. rude. Today I asked if I could hand-cancel my save the date postcards and the guy just gave me a blank stare and a "NO." When I asked why, he curtly replied, "US Postal Service policy." We applied for my 2 month old daughters passport here. We paid extra for the expedited service and explained that we're going on a family trip overseas that's been planned for a year. The 'specialist' here didn't take copies of our ID and also said she didn't need the certified birth certificate for the application.Our application was denied by the Dept of State because those two items were missing. We might miss our trip because of this incompetent 'specialist'. We even had to make an appointment to apply at this post office which I've never done before. Truly disappointing! read more

Supplementing my previous review - this time I went in to make sure a tiny invitation (3 1/2 by 3 1/2) could be mailed. The clerk put it on the scale and said it would cost $.64 each. So I bought the stamps, sent the invitations, and naturally got them all back with a "too small" note. Well done, Oak Grove. You cost me $10.00 and now all the invites will be late. Finally got to the front and the 'self locking' box they sell seemed to be opening, I told the cashier and he said I needed to buy tape but he (Vincent) could give me 1 sticker. I would give 4 or 5 stars if it weren't for the mean Filipino lady, Rebecca or some shit. I don't go to the post office often, but the few times I do I always see her and try to give her the benefit of the doubt that she's having a bad day. Like I said, I don't go to the USPS often so I don't know what the norm is other than wait in line and pay for my package to be sent. Rather than kindly directing what I should do, whether it'd be fill out some certified thing or what not, she scowls at me like I've done the worst thing ever and makes me feel stupid every time. It's not like I'm being unreasonable doing normal mailing shit. And it's her fucking job, you would think she would understand that she is in the position of being the expert and therefore should help people because she's getting paid for it. But nope, she likes to take it out on me; and I say me because waiting in that long ass line, dreading and hoping not to have her next, I've observed that she is so much nicer to the white folks. Maybe she something against Chinese people. At first I thought that claim was ridiculous too but some of the other customers, generally white and possibly elderly, have been caught off guard like I have been when she starts spouting out mailing options and other shit. But she's patient with them, takes the time to tell them the difference between options and which is the best for them. Then its 'next!', and she sees me and her whole demeanor changes like I had wronged her in another life. For example, today I brought in a big package to be refused because I bought something from Amazon that I no longer need but was too late to cancel the order. Anyway, I've never refused a package before and don't really know how it works. Finally it was my turn and rather than asking what I needed, she assumed it was a package I wanted to mail and barks at me, "you can't mail it here. It's too big. You go. Go to UPS." I pause, not knowing what to do; I obviously can't challenge her because I have never refused a package before, so I stand there and try to explain myself but all the while she's barking at me to leave. I'm getting irritated because there's a big line behind and it's become a show. She getting annoyed because the line is getting held up. So then she impatiently walks around with her dumb measuring line to measure the box so she can prove to me that it is too big. And when she finishes measuring, she emphatically says, see! I told you! To which I finally finish my explanation of saying it is an unopened box, i want to refuse this package. Rather than offer her apologies, she gives a quick, "oh!...oh!" Like she's the hero that figured out the problem. Soon after she hands me a pen and says, "write refuse on the box and put it on the counter", just like that, like that public display of scolding didn't take place. She is fucked in the head to be behaving like that and it's always with me. I really think she has issues with Chinese people. What a fucking bitch. It's too bad she makes that place unpleasant; her co-workers are nice. read more

This review is the US Postal Service -- not just one location. The US Post Office is the worst polluter in the Western Word. They burn more gasoline (residential delivery vehicles get 4 mpg) than even the US Army -- delivering 95% dead trees into landfill. Their service matches. We just received seven boxes -- every one of them smashed. Rates differ substantially by locations, and often a location is out of something they should never run out of. BTW, our carrier, who is wonderful, says that the Post Office is the worst enemy of every carrier. read more

Counter service is ok, but slow. What annoys me is Netflix handling. Three times now they've "misplaced" a netflix return. What should be overnight takes a week. The main post office at Bohannon never fails - if it's in by 6:30pm it's at Netflix by the next morning. read more

There is always a long line out to the door. Maybe short staff? They only have 2 workers and believe me they don't look happy working there. To save time now, I usually do the self-service, easy, quick and the no-hassle of waiting in line. read more

I wish there were a way to contact this station. I have a PO Box and occasionally packages are sent there without my knowledge (otherwise I give the sender my work address which is secure for deliveries). I came back from vacation to find one of the yellow cards dated a couple of weeks ago, showing there's a package too big for the box. However, there's no way to find out if the package has already been returned to sender without taking time from work, going there, and standing in line! The main Menlo USPS phone goes to Bohannon office and they tell me that going in person is my only option. Not exactly a 21st century operation. read more
