Over a month ago I rented a PO Box at the Santa Cruz Avenue Post Office in Los Gatos. Initially they could not find the keys to the box they rented me. Accordong to Jose, since the system had assigned the box they were not able to give me a different box. Jose told me I would have to come back to pick up the keys. When I returned the first time they said they did not have them and I would need to come back later. This happened twice. When I returned again they still didn't have keys. This time they said they would put a new lock on the box and gave me keys for the new lock. When I tried to pick up my mail on my next stop the keys didn't work and they were closed. I tried to get there on Sat. after work and just missed the closing by a few minutes. When I told them the problem Jose said I would need to come back yet AGAIN (this will make the 5th attempt when Is actually talked to a postal employee). Oh and Jose was the one that initially rented me the box. I paid for a service over a month and a half ago that I am not getting. The staff at the post office is mostly rude and unhelpful when there is a problem. Because of the hours I work getting there during open hours is difficult. It's also a problem that was created by the post office and they refuse to rectify it by providing me with a USEABLE P.O. box. I'd love to know why they just don't give me a different box, but so far all requests for one have been ignored --even when I initially signed the rental agreement!! They are great as long as there isn't a problem --even if the problem is due to THEIR mistake. When there is a problem they treat you like it's your fault and getting them to fix their mistake is next to impossible. There is a reason why the USPS is struggling and this is it. They forget that the very people they are rude to are the same ones that not only use the service but also pay the taxes that pay their salaries. Then again that's true for all government workers. End of rant. Just beware if you use this post office and don't expect help when you have a problem, or they leave packages on the side of the road (which they have also done) and it's stolen. read more

I have had several bad experiences with this post office. A few years ago, I sent a packaged of coffee to my sister who lived in another country, and the posting fee was $50, but my sister had never received it. I made three attempts to the local office, and I showed them my receipt, but they could not do anything. I asked them to refund me the postage cost, they refused to do it. read more

This review is for the Filipino lady with glasses (with the horrible highlights). She is rude and obnoxious! I've been selling a few items via Poshmark (it's like ebay but easier to use since I have instagram) and have been coming to the Post office here a little more than usual. Hope is usually there and she is TOTALLY helpful, and this review is not about her at all. Actually, she is the ONLY reason I will ever come back to this location! I LOVE HER! So let's get to the point... So these buyers who purchase my items on Poshmark pay for shipping, and a prepaid label is emailed to me via Poshmark. I then stop by the post office to ship it out, I could have shipped it out at work and wait for our mailman to come by. Instead, I go to the Post Office just in case I used the wrong box or if the items are too heavy. As a new seller using USPS, I asked for the correct box that goes with the label that was provided to me. Well can you guess the outcome? The Filipino lady pointed me to the wrong priority box! (I was given the stink eye at the other post office the day after... ) Anyhow, recently I had an issue with an item I purchased and was told by ebay I would have to ship the item back to Europe. Well, I went to this location twice and Hope kindly explained to me how everything worked, how you cannot have tape on the outside and it has to be the brown tape... and gave me the slips to fill out. I didn't want to hold up on the long holiday line @ the post office, so I turned around and went home instead to repackage it. Unfortunately, my 3rd trip to the Post Office was a disaster. I went in and waited over 30 mins in line, Hope was not working (OMG... I NEED HER!!) The rude Filipino lady first condescendingly scolded at how i needed to "peel off" all of the tape off my package, and that I need to step aside to fix it. She then gave me another brown paper tape, and quoted me a MUCH higher price than what Hope had quoted me. I specifically told her that I had come in TWICE before to ask about this shipping charges on this particular item, and it was NOT $55 to ship to Hungary. SHE continued on speaking in a very condescending manner which I was extremely uncomfortable with, I moved to the side to fix my package (WHICH THEN RUINED MY MANICURE....) In the mean time, I heard her interact with another customer and she was also rude. This customer was making a complaint and all she kept on saying was "Speak to the Manager, speak with the manager." The end of the story is, next day I returned and of course I only waited for Hope. When Hope saw that my package was sealed, she stated that in order to make sure that the item has not been tampered with she will have to put the brown tapes around the edges so she can place these stamps. Now if the Filipino lady had mentioned that I think I would've completely understood where she was coming from. Explain yourself so clients can understand why you have these outrageous requests. (You cannot use CLEAR tape?!??! Then how do you seal off packages?!?!?!?) Now the real reason why I am FURIOUS and is writing this review on Yelp (will write to Post office too)... is that she saw hope helping me and it was NONE OF HER BUSINESS but she told HOPE to make me go the the side AGAIN so I can fix the package again. She obviously cannot be left alone to deal with customers. Do your job and if you're not happy about it stop working there. Get another job, this is not the job for you! ****PS. HOPE is an angel, she is always happy and smiling. I love her and will only return to wait for her. She is a true gem working in this location and she should be rewarded with a raise! It is not easy to smile all day at clients even when there are a million clients in line. I know how she feels because I am in customer service myself. :) Hope gets five stars! I have had nothing but positive experiences at this post office. Everyone at the front goes above and beyond to be helpful and informative. Someone even assisted me when their register station was technically closed! I just had a question and didn't see the closed sign and he was more than happy to assist me with finding the correct box to use for my shipping method and packing correctly. Everyone is friendly and pleasant to deal with. It gets a little backed up at times but it's understandable with high demand- and the front desk employees never let it affect their positive attitude. Yes, there does tend to be a line, but think of it this way: when it is your turn to need help, you will be glad that each customer is valued and treated with respect. 24 hour lobby, with access to self service machines and post office boxes. Knowledgeable, quick and friendly staff. Staff that do not act as though they hate and resent you for intruding on their leisure time. The best way to really appreciate this post office is to try using one in San Jose. haha! read more

My cousin and I drove from San Jose to this specific location to get his new passport and this was the best post office experience we've ever had. Hands down, thank you to Mark for being so kind and helpful even though we were his last clients and patient w my cousin who was on crutches. I can go on and on, but I appreciate so much how smooth our process was there. There's a post office next to my house, but I wouldn't mind driving all the way here for this kind of customer service. I came here to get a passport renewed and to apply for my kids Passports. I got all the paperwork I needed for my kids and myself. Made my appointment and came in. The staff were very kind and helped threw the process. The reason why I didn't give 5 stars was because they had told me that I had to renew my passport and I got it returned back to me. I had to re apply for a passport again. So I had to do a couple more trips to get this passport fixed. I don't live near this area so that made it hard. other then that there customer service is great! read more

Mail addressed to neighbors is sometimes put in our mailbox. So, it's safe to assume that they sometimes get ours. It would be good if the sorting process could be more precise in order that everyone receives their own mail every time. read more

Los Gatos is a shining example of what all post offices should be! They're even open on Saturday when other post offices are closed. The staff is friendly, courteous and is always seeking to help you out. Additionally they're very personable, while that may make the line go a little slower, you never feel forgotten or treated like a number. read more

Yelp posted hours are incorrect. Made a special trip here to drop off a package. LOBBY hours are early. No idea what time the RETAIL hours are, as there are no posted hours anywhere stating what time they open. read more

The passport office is simple atrocious.. Not only are the staff incredibly rude, I'm calling the 2nd week of Jan to be told the first available appointment is in March. I was on hold for more than 10 minutes just to make the appointment, only to be told that everyone is having problems with MS calendar but that she is certain that they have an appointment available on March 5 because they only do THREE appointments a day at 12, 12:30 & 1 pm. WTF? No wonder there are no appointments available until March. So much for customer service. read more

Rudeness, falsehoods and the inability to listen for more than a couple of words makes for a poor customer experience. The clerk whose name begins with A. was unable to stop talking and listen long enough for me to state the problem. I did not receive my package even though the shipper said it was out for delivery a week ago. There is no notice left at our house or mailbox but when I look on line at the USPS website it says "Unable to find a safe location to leave package" which is lie #1. We were home at the time of the alleged delivery, and no one tried to deliver the package. Review of the video recordings of the driveway and front door showed that no delivery attempt was made. Presumably realizing that the reason for non-delivery was false, Clerk A. then says it wasn't delivered because your road was closed which was lie #2 as it was open all day. I asked why the reason for non-delivery given was no safe location instead of the false claim that the road was closed but didn't receive an answer. The reason A. couldn't answer is that he is interrupting continuously and giving a list of unrelated reasons (i.e. the lies about why the package wasn't delivered) for questions I never asked. Then Clerk A. proceeds to explain that UPS can deliver places USPS cannot which was a complete non sequitur and it was unclear what UPS had to do with anything. Realiing that the excuses don't make any sense and are obviously false, Clerk A then proceeds to lie #3 which was that they couldn't make it down our driveway and I mentioned the local USPS driver by name who has delivered 100s of packages to our front door over the years. Clerk A. gives me the stink eye, and disappears into the back and doesn't reappear after about 10 minutes. Before I leave without the package, I give Clerk J my name and phone number and said have A. call me. He said he would have A. call which was yet another lie (#5) which never happened. After the bungled attempt to deliver, inability to find the package or let me speak, Clerk A. should remember why we have two ears and one mouth - to listen more than we talk. Not at all surprisingly, Clerk A. didn't call with the info. I called the shipper and told them I never received the package and to please refund the money which they did. read more

I just love Hope. She is the best part of Los Gatos USPS. This location is pretty efficient and dependable, but she just takes the cake with her sweet and friendly personality. If she ever has a bad day, you would never know it because she always has a smile on her face. She makes me want to bake her cupcakes even though I find baking tedious haha. I wouldn't want to go to another location even if there was one across the street. read more

This is my go-to post office. It doesn't matter if it's early in the morning or right before closing, everyone is very friendly, especially Hope. It's a pain to park, particularly after 5, but that's Los Gatos for you. We drop off time-sensitive mail often for work. My boss has had good experiences as well, i.e. allowing him to drop off mail even after it closes. read more

I ordered a text book from Amazon and received a message from Amazon that delivery attempt failed. It was a mistake by Los Gatos post office. The lady on the phone was irritable. She was a poor listener to start with and constantly cut me off when she actually needed information from me in order to do her job. She made me feel that I was bothering her. For all 11 years I lived in Los Gatos I only bothered them this time. If this happens again I will press the button on Amazon and return, reorder. No drive thru facilities for envelope drop off. Very limited parking & it is not uncommon to find elderly & yuppy Los Gatos citizens poorly double parking while dropping off mail. read more

I love the Los Gatos Post office! The mail clerks are super friendly and really take the time to get your order right. This post office is open 24 hours for PO box check and also has a Fed Ex box right in the lobby, so you can send via US mail or Fed Ex. I've found it to be crowded a couple of times, but mostly is very accessible. They have several parking spaces available. A very enjoyable way to send a letter. :) read more

I was so pleased with the staff here, specifically in the passport office. I had to get my application processed quickly, and the staff here was so helpful in making sure it all got taken care of. Got my picture taken, got everything filled out and double checked for accuracy, even got help with a problem I had when I needed to run downtown to the courthouse to pick up a notarized form. the lady helping me was rude and not nice at explaining. wears glasses. was pretty rude when i told her i didn't know i couldn't order stuff the post office. she said she was not going to spend the time looking for my package even though she had the tracking number and could've found it pretty easily. plus she was very annoyed with me. idk if she was having a bad day or something but like it's still courtesy. even though on google it says you can. will not be going back here. saratoga post office has my full service now. I paid $33.55 for one stamp to mail an envelope to get to a location by the 2nd day. This envelope would normally be $.49 for regular mail. The actual stamp and receipt both stated the date and time for the delivery of the envelope. The envelope was picked up late from the box inside the lobby of the post office and was a day late on delivery. We were able to follow the information from the tracking number. I went into the post office to get a refund and after waiting for 50 minutes(over 20 was for the supervisor who was late) I was told by the supervisor that the refund was denied because I probably didn't put the envelope int box. She wouldn't listen, was very rude and completely unacceptable. She couldn't get away with this behavior in any other business. read more

Came here about a month ago to renew a passport. I stupidly misheard my appointment time, so I was late. When I got there, there was a huge line and only one person working. In retrospect, I should I should have cut and asked where to go for passport appointments. Twenty minutes later, two more employees come out from the back and I'm sent to one of them. She was irritated with my tardiness that had been made worse with the line (understandable, but to show it so blatantly is pretty unprofessional). She says she has a lunch to take in 30 minutes, so she doesn't know if she can help me. Ok, my bad. But then takes my application and starts looking it over anyway. Great! Or so i thought. She says my old passport is too old and she can't use it. Instead, she says I *HAVE* to get an original birth certificate. I'm from another state, so the process wound up taking nearly a month. When I finally got it (mind you, birth certificate's aren't free and expediting it would have cost an extra $50), I call to make another appointment and they're booked through the next month. Luckily another USPS wasn't as busy. Turns out I never needed to order my birth certificate, my passport was just fine and the entire process took 10 minutes (no idea why lunch in 30 mattered to the woman at this location). Due to the delay caused by her incompetence, I had to expedite my passport, so I didn't avoid that extra $50 after all. Avoid the woman that's roughly 5'11"! She speaks in certainties when she clearly doesn't know what she's talking about and could seriously use some more training. read more

I have maintained and paid for a post office box in the downtown Los Gatos Post Office for over 20 years. During this time, whenever a payment was due, I would receive a notice envelope in the box and pay the bill. Recently, however, I went to retrieve mail and noticed a red card at the back of the box. When I inquired with Jose, a clerk I have known for many years, he stated that my payment was overdue and I would not only have to reapply for the service but pay a late fee as well. Unfortunately, no notice of payment due had been placed in my post office box. I talked to 2 clerks and a supervisor and was told they were shorthanded and someone failed to do this. I was chastised by the supervisor that this was my responsibility and that the notice was merely a courtesy, despite the fact that I had been receiving these any time a payment was due. Ironically, a customer directly in front of me was paying their post office bill with their notice envelope. When I returned to check for mail a few days later, the infamous "red card" was still attached to the box and I again had to talk to someone to clear up the problem. I contacted the local postmaster and felt like I got the same type of answer--we are shorthanded, have new people who may not fulfill their responsibilities but it essentially was my fault. The front desk personnel at the branch have always been efficient, courteous and friendly. This is not an issue of the late fee, but one of principle. But, at this point, I will stop using this branch of the post office unless absolutely necessary read more

Upon a visit to the post office in Los Gatos, I found them very rushed, and not taking the time to ask questions, preferences of shipping, etc. I was helped by a woman (0568370153-0096) who did not take the time or care to do her job properly. I was charged $20 to send two packages- one book locally and another was a DVD and book. I asked for the cheapest rate and was told that there wasn't a price difference between priority for one of the packages. One small Dummies book weighed 1 lb 6 oz and the other was 1 lb 10 oz. Since when is book rate $20 to ship 2 books in the US? The whole transaction was very rushed and I left feeling like I had been grossly overcharged for what I wanted. I highly recommend that this woman take the time to ask a customer's wishes, have a little empathy for her customers, show care in her job. I think this easily could have been done by adding an extra 10 seconds and a smile to the transaction. read more

After having a PO Box for 30 years I closed my box & put in a change of address form to my new PO Box in Austin. It's 5 weeks later & several phone calls & not 1 piece of forwarded mail has come. In talking with Pinky she tried to blame me by saying that I did not put put in a change of address form. I asked her why they were notifying certain businesses of my forwarding address then? She was very uncaring & took not no accountability that the problem was on their end then told me I'd have to pay to have my mail forwarded. When I asked to speak to a supervisor she hung up on me! I tried calling back 3 times and no answer. She had my phone number so she could have called me back if the hang up was an accident. Pinky I really think you need to change professions since you don't seem to care about your customers. read more

We've been having issues with our mail carrier who is based out of this office. The staff is snarky, sarcastic and rude. They make up roles as if they are not part of the USPS mother ship which actually does a decent job of stating what they want. If they ran like a real business instead of an entitlement, they just might, maybe, be in better shape. read more

I honestly hate to leave this post office a 1 star rating because many of the employees here are very friendly and helpful. However when it comes to actually getting packages delivered this post office is a nightmare. We live out in the country a bit and do not have a safe location to leave packages here, so we always have to wait for the postal slip and bring it in the following day. Unfortunately the driver on our route does not seem to be capable of leaving consistent notices or returning packages to the post office in a place where other employees can find them. There have been soooo many times that we arrive to pick up our packages and they can't find them because our driver put them away in the wrong spot or just forgot to unload them off of the mail truck. Very frustrating to wait in line for 20 minutes only to be sent away empty handed. Today we brought in our slip and they told us that the package had already been delivered even though it obviously had not. I really wish they would fire this incompetent driver and figure out a way to streamline their package delivery. read more

Favorite post office and nicest employees hands down. Yes depending on the time of day it can get busy in here, and parking is limited. But honestly go to san jose and wait in line at any post office over there and you will see the differene for youself. I can typically stop by this location while out and about on my luch break and still have plenty of time to grab a bite before heading back to work. read more

I went into the post office today at approx. 1:10pm as I expected there was quite a line which was OK with me because I was not in a hurry. While waiting I noticed one of my envelopes had not sealed well and asked the male clerk for a small piece of tape. He stated he could not give me any tape because it was against the law. I said excuse me, and to which he said "no tape, it's against the law". I got back in line and while waiting watched another customer bring a package to the same gentleman, she paid the amount, started to walk way to which the clerk said take the box. She turned to him and said, "can't you put in the stack behind you"? He replied with a harsh "No, take it out side and put it in the drop box". She grabbed the box and stormed out saying some harsh words. At that point I left the line and walked out. I have been at the Post Office on Branham Lane a couple of days before and had such a pleasant experience I decided that it was worth my time and effort to drive there rather than deal with the rude employee in Los Gatos. The lines were equally as long there but the clerks met you with a smile, were friendly and could not have been more helpful. And by the way, when asked for a piece of tape the clerk said"sure" with a smile and handed me the holder ! The clerks need to take lessons in Customer Service from the clerks on Branham in San Jose read more
