Whoever came up with the idea of putting a Post Office in a major mall was brilliant! Whenever I need to buy things to send to the mainland, Ala Moana is my one-stop shop because I can do my shopping, and then head straight to the post office to mail my package. Sorry, I can't tell you what the customer service is like because I never stand in line (which is usually out the door, even when it's NOT Christmas). I use the self-serve kiosk directly outside of the entrance. After a few pushes of a button, my postage is paid for and my package is on its way! If you're just mailing a package, use the self serve kiosk! read more

Sending out mail period around this time of year can be crazy hectic- especially on the weekends when the mall is jam packed with holiday shoppers but Laurence who works here helped me out big time with sending my package out. My package arrived torn apart and opened, the contents were missing. The only thing left was the torn up card board box sealed in a plastic bag and delivered in that condition. I attempted to call the office but nobody answers the phone. The USPS website is a bureaucratic nightmare and is very difficult to navigate or use. I finally filed a claim which was denied based on the fact the box was delivered. No further action can be taken. That's why the USPS is so inefficient. read more

Now that Marshall's is open - parking situation is HORRIBLE. Drive around this section of the parking lot for 10 - 15 minutes to find a spot is not worth it. I can't believe this mall created a few reserved spaces for Marshall's customers (I think there is a time limit though - not sure). Reserve a few spaces for the USPS customers too. Put a time limit (15 - 20 min?) so that we don't have to drive around forever. There are instances when I just gave up - and went to another USPS. read more

Convenient! This is the best word to describe this USPS location. Parking: You have so much parking in Ala Moana that you can utilize if you go to this location. It's free and most of it is in the shade. Security is always around and cameras everywhere. I don't worry about my car when I'm here. Service: I don't know if it's because they go through so much people in a day or that they deal with a lot of tourists but I think that they are nicer here at this location than all the other locations I visit. They are always fast because they have so many people that come here (shoppers, tourist, businesses around the area, etc.). I find that coming to this location is usually the quickest from the time I find parking to when the package is paid for and accepted by the Postal worker. Supplies and Ambiance: They always have all the boxes and flat rate envelopes in stock which is nice. The supplies you buy here won't be taxed so you can get shipping tape or cards for special occasions here without tax! That's awesome!! I'm very Chinese lol. read more

It's that time of year for me. Time to ship my bottles of pepper jelly and Lion's coffee off to my sisters in law in the bay area. I can usually send them in the biggest flat rate box but this year, I'm also sending some framed pictures I shot so had to use a bigger plain box. Much to my surprise, the shipping rate for Priority Mail was $60! The biggest flat rate box is around $19...GRRR! They did give me the option to ship it on the boat but that was $55, and would take 4-6 weeks! They got you by the balls, I swear! One thing I recommend is if you're waiting in line and not inside the door yet, make sure you're in the right line. The morning I was there, the international shipping is on the left side and the domestic shipping is on the right side. I got there 15 minutes before they opened (8:45) and there were already 23 people ahead of me. There was a girl with a fairly large box, 3rd in line so she must've gotten there early and when the doors opened she went directly up to one of the 4 domestic counters open, but she was directed to the international line (which is only 1 counter.) Unfortunately, there were 6 people (that knew how to read the sign at the door) already in that line so she now had to wait in that line. She got to the back of the line and from her standing position, she dropped the box from chest height onto the ground, it made the hugest noise! LOL. I tried super hard not to laugh. Anyway, that was my entertainment for the morning. I will say that the staff here were pretty friendly and the 23 people in front of me moved along a bit quicker than I thought it would. This location is also conveniently located in the mall which is nice. The cost to ship a package that's not a flat rate box is not as cost effective as it used to be compared to FedEx or UPS ground rates, though. read more

This is such a convenient location- located in the parking garage (I don't think that I've seen that in other malls BTW). I stopped here to drop off postcards (I usually have the postacrd stams with me already before we leave LV) so I didn't actually go inside for any services so I can't comment on the inside. It seems to be pretty busy whenever we pass by (on our trips). I just love the idea of a post office in the mall, though. There are two other branches that I know of in Waikiki, one is off Saratoga (full service) and the other is an outpost/internet cafe in the International Marketplace. Years ago, there used to be so many USPS branches in the grocery stores here at home, but many Albertsons stores have since closed. Sad. This would be a great idea for Las Vegas. read more

Out of all the US Post Offices I've been to, the Ala Moana location is by far the best in customer service! There's plenty of parking since it's located at the Shopping Mall. I wished the inside was a little bigger but it's okay. I came here to buy stamps for work and I anticipated a long line and the worst service ever from past experience I had else where. The line was long but it kept moving. What intrigued me was how genuine the USPS worker was. She interacted with me and she didn't make me feel stupid for asking some general questions. Her name was Lisa! She was great and she made my negative thoughts turned into positive thoughts about visiting US Post Offices! read more

¬With all the technology being advanced, I don't normally frequent the post office anymore. I don't send a lot of packages since I have amazon to order all my necessities, send gifts, and I pay a little extra to get presents wrapped during holidays and birthdays. Until recently, I took a step back in time and started writing letters the old fashion way and gained pen pals in the last few months. I've discovered this whole new world of analog once again and learned to embrace the fun of sending letters, wrapping presents I made, creating my own wrapping papers and started sending them to friends I've gained all over the world. With this new discovery, it required me to make many trips to the post office. Here's my experience. Since I do all my mailings during the week, Ala Moana Center post office is my go to and most convenient for me. This post office is located at the mall on the mountain side, ground level with free parking spaces. Depending on the time of day, parking could become hectic. However, walking to the location is easy and the post office is near bus stops. It is a well-equipped post office with boxes and envelopes of most sizes available for your shipping needs. Depending on which supply you grab, some may be at a cost. It's a rather small post office with two lines avail. The international shipment line is to the left of the writing stall and domestic to the right. I've experienced services on both. Reed has serviced me on several trips and was patient and kind to educate me on international shipments. Every trip is a new learning experience. Since I was sending international pen pal packages and letters he always humored me with choosing my own pretty stamps. My pen pals love collecting cancelled stamps on packages, and he understood the importance as to why I must choose and apply them myself. Mei assists me on the domestic shipment line frequently. At first I was intimated by her presence because she was firm and tough with the customer before. But after being serviced by Mei, I found her to be patient, kind, and funny, I'm no longer feeling intimidated by her. Overall I enjoy coming to this post office. The service is fast and worth the patience during busier days. read more

The young lady with the horrid highlights behind the counter is completely RUDE! Raising her voice at me in front of the entire store, embarrassing me in front of everyone. The US Post Office is conveniently located at the Ala Moana Shopping Center on the ground level mauka (mountain) side of the center. I normally stop by this post office if I have mail to drop off in the outgoing mailbox. I like this post office because I am able to buy stamps from the Automated Postal Center out front. The kiosk accepts credit cards and debit cards as payments for your postage stamps. Inside this post office location individuals are able to purchase money orders, stamps, and even mail off flat rate boxes that needs to be shipped to the mainland USA or overseas. During the holiday seasons the post office would always have a line going out the door since a lot of individuals would have a minimal of 2 boxes or a maximum of about a dozen boxes to be shipped out to the mainland USA or overseas. I haven't stepped foot inside the US Post Office so I would not know what the customer service would be like. I just come to this location for the Automated Postal Center kiosk and to drop off mail. read more

I had to mail packages yesterday morning. The post office at Ala Moana opens at 9 a.m., but there were at least a dozen people waiting in line. I've been here when the wait was half an hour or more. There's always a long line here, but at least it moves pretty fast for being such a small shipping center. And if you're packing something there physically, then make sure you bring tape, or otherwise they charge you about $3.50 for a small roll of tape which is a rip off. read more

I ship multiple items about 3 times a week, and this USPS location is by far my favorite. I've been to several within Honolulu and this location has all others beat. Reed is an employee at this location that always gives me such top notch customer service. Multiple times he's gone above and beyond helping me with shipping items and other related situations. His kind, upbeat and positive attitude is why I keep coming to this location! This location also seems to have a lot more employees working at once, obviously because it's located in the mall, but still the long lines go really fast here. Sometimes they run out of priority mail boxes that are in the front, but if you ask an associate they always have more in the back. I always need extra because of how much I ship and they are kind enough to give me extras. Great place to go! read more

While you normally think of government, you think of the normal bureaucratic inefficiency, not a lean mean business machine! Well, the USPS is proof that government can be efficient and helpful! The Ala Moana location has this uncanny ability to make the line go pretty fast. Even when it is filed with seniors that didn't wrap their box right or didn't write the label correctly. Plus they are incredibly friendly and helpful which makes me wonder "why do they say you are gonna go postal one day" to define crazy people? Either case, a great place to mail your boxes. Unless of course, it is the holiday season...then you might want to think about doing it online and taking advantage of their awesome drop box! read more

On the rare occasion that I need to mail packages, this is an easy post office to access because it's located right on the street level of Ala Moana Mall. If you have the foresight to buy your postage online you can just drop your boxes off in a bin right outside. The USPS system in general needs a major policy overhaul. I was sent a package that look to be the incorrect zip code based on the tracking information. I tried emailing and calling a general number that no answers. I finally was able to leave a message but when I got a call back on voice mail the person didn't even leave a direct number to resolve the issue. I was able to send an email which USPS acknowledged acceptance because in the tracking info the item was places in 'research.'. By now, USPS has my phone number and email to contact me to get me the package. But what do they do, they place in tracking incorrect address again and mail the package back to the sender. HOW STUPID IS THAT!!!!! This is why USPS has mo money they keep wasting cost sending stuff back instead of trying to resolve issue. They have my info....call me to deliver my package or hold it foe pickup anything but sending it back. I have NO sympathy for USPS until they change how they treat their customers. Oh! and the old Chinese lady at the counter is mean and rude and don't no shit. She told me I only could do an intercept online which cost money to upsell their services which I didn't need to. Not all workers are bad but these with attitude need to retire or get fired! read more

THAT'S IT, Post office lady, I'm ready to throw down. Yesterday when I was lovingly hungover, my sleep was interrupted by a knock on the door. Why, who could it be? Well, it was a mail man returning the box I had mailed via your office two weeks ago. Return to sender? But why? Well, when you were being bitchy to me because I didn't know how to send a package internationally. . . apparently you didn't know how to either. So because I so wrongly followed the directions of a post office employee (and this is directed to you, D-bag lady), I may potentially have to pay ANOTHER $25 to send a 2lb package. Post office, please train your people more. Efficiency is only defined as such if you get the job done CORRECTLY. You fail epically, lady. One of the most convenient post offices on the island. Many people of all walks of life and work can come here and do their mailing business. The staff and customer service is good. No matter how long the line is and how intimating it is, the lines are no match for me here!!! If it was anywhere else than I would have easily just left but during the holidays this place is busy and it is just no ending to the madness. However the staff is always so pleasant and I don't know when I am in line I become this grinch but by the time I get to the counter the staff takes it all away, the power they have :) The hours are reasonable and if you don't make it in time they always have machines that will help you with all your needs. I usually go there after work because I can never run away from the office in time and I use the flat-rate box machine. That machine is magical, you can print labels, pay for your package and get everything from delivery confirmation to insurance on the package. And they have a huge drop off right next to the machine. So no more rushing to beat the lines to the post office, you can use the machines right outside while you have the view of the line. read more

On our way to the North Shore, I wanted to stop by the post office to send some chocolates back home to Vegas, instead of packing it in my bags. Although there was a long line, it went really quick. I just wanted to write this review to give a shout out to Iris who was our greeter. She prepped us before approaching the representatives at the counter. Probably one of the sweetest ladies I've ever met in a post office setting! She recommended some packages for me, started a personal conversation with me and even joked a bit. So personable and really made my overall experience one that I'll remember! If you're looking to send a package, make the choice to use this branch! Worst experience ever !!!! Do not go this place .... This post office used to be always nice but seems like it has been changed a lot... it is very shame. Today my sister went to their store and when she was trying to send me a box , one of the clerk lady was complaining that she was doing a little slow and even she was doing wrong!!!!! my sister wasn't wrong. She just doesn't know what to do because this is the first time for her to mail a box in foreign country. and then later, the clerk lady was telling her that there is only one option to mail it so it cost them 100dollars to mail for a just a box!!!!!!!!!!! because that lady did a express. I've told them that I don't need a express....... It is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll never use this post office again. read more

There is something truly amazing about this USPS. It might be the lack of bullet proof glass NYC is known for. Or maybe it its that the employees smile. It could also be how quickly the line moves... whatever it is they need to bottle it and spray it at other locations. I had an APO package and had filled out a form that was too large for my package. The cashier was beyond amused by the challenge of getting that slip on my tiny package. He managed to get it done laughing the entire time. It was seriously refreshing. read more

I've never had an issue with an employee here until today. I was just mailing something out nothing unusual. I didn't get his name but this morning he was working at the international shipping line, clerk 2. Anyways was just looking at my phone to match the address I have on there to make sure that's the same address on the card reader. I feel as though he was trying to rush me when I didn't need to be because there wasn't even five people in line. He copped an attitude when I was explaining to him I don't know the address by heart and was just trying to make sure it matched what was on the screen. I was on my phone to look at the address but he took that as me a younger person not paying attention to what I was doing when I was literally just on my phone looking at the address and I explained that to him but I don't think he could accept that he was in the wrong so he was trying so very hard to make himself right when he had no clue what he was talking about. I don't care if you're older or younger than me. Age doesn't define the respect you will receive from me. I hope in the future he will learn to let someone explain instead of cutting them off every two seconds. That transaction took longer than it needed to. read more

Most Efficient Post Office While post offices are known for their long waits. The post office at Ala Moana Center is no exception. The wait is mainly due to the people who never mailed anything before or the tourists who need to mail stuff back home. If this is your first time mailing something please check online for the rates and how to. All the information is available to you, use it. The employees here have a lot of patience and are very knowledgeable and helped me out many of times when I have questions on mailing stuff. They handle the first timers and tourists appropriately by moving them to the side and let them handle whatever they are missing and then take another customer. they then help them afterwards once they are done. So while the wait can be long. It could be longer if the staff weren't so efficent. read more

Wow! Who would ever walk into a post office expecting to have a positive experience? Certainly not I. At least not until my last visit to the Ala Moana branch. This branch has completely changed my views of what a post office can be. The line was fairly long as is expected on a Saturday afternoon, so I braced myself for the long wait. To my pleasant surprise, they had such a good system down that I probably waited less than ten minutes despite having at least 5 people ahead of me in line. One worker was designated to going through the line to triage customers so to speak. She asked us what the purpose of our visit was and gave us a sheet of paper indicating our needs to give to the people at the counters. She also knew what questions to ask to make sure customers were fully ready by the time they reached the front. I overheard her helping a man getting his box ready to go. While he was in line, it wasn't yet taped, which she quickly identified. She informed him it needed to be all closed up when he reached the front and brought him a roll of tape that he could use in line and then pay for once he reached the front. Addressing issues such as these while customers are just standing in line definitely saves on time at the front. The workers were all polite, even when having to answer my likely obvious questions since I rarely utilize the post office and thus don't know how everything works. Whenever I have to mail something in the future, I'm definitely coming back to this branch. read more

I never give reviews on here, but after coming in yesterday I just had to. Everyone was so freaking nice (even when I got there at 4:55) they still helped me. The local guy who helped check me out was the sweetest & assured me while I was trying to rush because I knew they were closed that he's in no hurry & asked me how my day was. I frequent this post office because it's close to where I live & there are always at least 4 employees behind the counter. The workers here for the most part are pretty nice and I guess because of their location they seem to be pretty busy (especially around Christmas) which leads me to believe that's the reason they hardly smile. Anyway that's beyond my point, I was completely turned off today because of a man in front (not behind the counter) was rude. I always have to fill out custom forms (that they made longer) which I still dont understand because I'm sending to US soil (US Territory) & when I got in line they had put a sign out saying that all forms should be filled out before reaching the counter. That I could understand because it would help expedite the process however, they never have those forms out for me to grab. I have to wait until I get up to the counter to ask for this form and basically rush to fill it out because I feel bad for the others waiting in line. I simply asked him for a customs form (he was assisting someone) and he snapped back at me. I guess I shouldn't take it personal & wait for my turn but in my opinion they should just have these same custom forms readily available where all the other forms are located so that EVERYONE could be set and ready. Instead of helping everyone out and dismissing me they should at the very least keep their stock of forms filled up before trying to assist to keep the line moving. I already knew I'd get scolded by the person at the counter if I didn't have my form ready. Anyway, let's just say that I'd rather go out of my way to a post office further from my residence to send out my boxes Aloha! read more
