Tucked away in Manoa Shopping Center next to the laundry place is where you will find this post office. It is relatively clean and has lots of PO Boxes and has a nice counter to do your business. The workers are friendly and I've never encountered a long line like many other post offices. One reason for that is because they only take cash or checks. Yes you read that correctly they do not take charge cards. What in the world?!?!?! Good thing i had cash to pay for the postage for the things I was mailing out. This US postal office is located in the Mānoa marketplace. It doesn't have all the services of a typical post office since this one is a contracted post office. It's very conveniently located, and not crowded. They do have PO Boxes located here as well. Unlike regular post offices, they do not have a automated machine to buy stamps, or ship packages and letters, So everything is done in person. They have two windows to service you. This post office in Mānoa was originally planned to be closed at the end of September, due to contract/rent issues, but with the help of local residents, neighborhood board, and our US representative Ed Case, a compromise was made so it will continue to stay open! read more

I've been coming to this postal unit for over five years now (clearly never checked in haha). It's a very convenient location, even if I have to schedule a trip to meet their hours. Plentiful and free parking. Cash/check only can be a hassle but there are banks in the Marketplace (ASB, CPB, Territorial Savings) and nearby (BOH, FHB) and BOH ATMs in Safeway and Longs. They stock supplies of USPS boxes and envelopes, and clearly labeled for sizes and rates. Bring your own packing tape, scissors, labels, Sharpie marker/pen etc. I brought my online purchase for a return. I asked Clay (I think, name is embroidered on uniform-- new thing?) to weigh and for the rate ($19.95), and he recommended I use the flat rate box (medium, $14.35) It's true that the limitations can be frustrating, but this is not a USPS post office, so we just have to note what they don't have and bring our own. WARNING - AVOID THIS POST OFFICE!!! I sent a package that had a very sensitive delivery date and paid for priority shipping (over $70!) to LA. It's been over 2 weeks and it still has not been delivered. The tracking number shows it's stuck "moving through network". More concerning, there is no evidence on the website that it was sent via Priority. I visited the post office to complain in person. The manager was very defensive and his response was that they "provide a valuable service to the Manoa community". What does that even mean? It's not like you are performing charity for us. You (over) charged me for Priority shipping and failed to provide that service! The manager also said "once it leaves our office, we have no way to tell you where your package is or what happened to it". OOF. This Post Office is so lame, understaffed, and under prepared for transactions that are supposed to be simple. I printed a Click-N-Ship label, put it on a small box to ship out locally and the USPS Counter Lady rudely told me they don't have a Bin/Basket to drop off prepaid Postal Packages & I have to wait in line to hand it to them, like everybody else! No lady, NOT like everyone else! This transaction has already been completed, ALL YOU had to do was Receive it nicely, but that was too much for her to set out a Mobile Bin/Basket with a "Click-N-Ship" Drop Off sign. She would rather complain to Customers, not wanting to wait in line for doing the work for her that she is doing all day long. Management should be correcting this issue for daily customers AND Staff! Unfortunately, by the looks of all of the 1 Star Reviews, they need NEW MANAGEMENT! read more

I was appalled that C.L. would claim this post office has the best phone service, obviously a friend of the business because they DO NOT HAVE A PHONE. Only post office that does not have a phone. How do I know? I had to find a post office to send a rush package out as early as possible. BAD BAD BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!! DID I SAY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE? K, went there Friday to try and open a p.o. box. Was told that I had to go online to do it. I asked the worker if that was the only way to do and was told that online was the only way to do it. Seemed kinda fishy since not everyone has a computer, internet access or access to a printer. Called the 1-800 number today to ask if there was any other ways to do it and to see what other post offices offered p.o. boxes and he confirmed that this branch should have been able to help me do it in person. Lately this post office has felt like a safe place, with everyone inside properly masked and distanced. I used to bring my dogs in (I still would, but in pandemic times I'd rather come and go as quickly as possible), and it's nice to see that some people still bring theirs. There's also a post office dog hanging out in the back behind the counter. How WANderful! Only drawback to this place is you've got to pay by cash or check, not credit. read more

I've been acquainted with all the different owners and staff of this PO for 25 years and their varied personalities contribute character to the overall customer experience of Manoa Marketplace as a commercial center of the community. This satellite post office is The Worst privately run PO ever. They close early even during holiday rush and we've seen little old ladies with their shopping carts and presents to mail arrive like we have, on time before closing hour (3:30pm) only to find these guys gone at 3:25p. Not an uncommon complaint. They are the most impersonal unhelpful and uninformed staff and we find ourselves going to a "real" postal clerk at the Makiki office to get accurate mailing fees tor international mailing. This is my go to post office because it's close to home and work. Every time I come in it's always pleasant and quick. Their flat rate boxes are always stocked up and easy to obtain. Yelp says they're open at 830am but every time I go in the morning around 8am-815am they're already open so that's a plus! Quick and easy. Only down side is that they don't accept check or credit cards. Which is why I took away 1 Star. I understand why places only accept cash but it's a little inconvenient if you don't have cash on hand. read more

This is a contract post office, i.e. they make their own rules. There are always the same workers, who don't wear name tags, and aren't USPS employees. They'll give you the run around if you run into any issues, with no one else to talk to because they are the managers, apparently. If you can manage to have your PO Box elsewhere, you should do so. They don't have a branch phone, don't accept payments via card, and don't know much about the overall USPS system other than their own branch rules and policies, that are totally obsolete. After speaking with an actual USPS branch, they recommended that since the Manoa location doesn't have a phone number or anyone to really talk to beyond the employees there, you can call consumer affairs regarding issues (808)423-3471, which is located at the airport location. read more

Super unprofessional. I came to the location on a Saturday. My phone that is set using GPS to the current time and also my girlfriend's phone that is also set was showing 11:55am. I get inside and they close the windows on me. I have been going to this post office for over 25 years. You would think they would accommodate us since this is a small community that supports this small 3rd party USPS location. But now way, they close the windows and are telling me it's past 12. I knock on the inside door asking for a manger. The guy who I find out is the owner only answers after I knock over and over again. He refuses to speak to me face to face which is how most business owners would handle a situation like this. Instead he tells me he will call the police if I don't leave. I understand convenience. But, if you want a very bad experience. If you want people that are watching their clock and want to leave early. If you want customer service that threatens to call the police. If you want an owner with no Aloha Spirit, then please visit the Manoa Post Office. I will say this though. The owner's son is very classy and professional. It's kind of ironic that the son can actually teach his father how to act and treat people. If the owner was smart, he wouldn't come to work and he would let his son run this entire place. In the past four months, I've been coming here on the regular. Although it is the most convenient location for me, I'm not sure why you would go to another USPS. The parking is easy, there's hardly ever a line and the workers are really nice. It's really a no-brainer. My only thing is they close a little early. I have to make a special effort to get there before 3:30 on weekdays. How about changing your closing time to 4:30 Manoa USPS?! Please?! Anyway, maybe due to the fact that I come here closer to closing time, there is never a wait. ever. The workers look really young-like college aged. They are pleasant and helpful and get me in and out an on with my life. It's basically the same two guys every time I go...why I haven't officially made friends with them is beyond me. Friendly, efficient, and most of the time the lines are short. If the employees aren't busy helping people, they will usually greet you from behind the windows, when you walk in, even if you are just passing by them to check your mail. Sometime in 2012 this contract postal station was sold to a new owner who is running things with a younger, friendlier crew. I previous owner was a good guy, and was very good at running the place, but I have to admit some of the old employees were grumps. Although the new crew doesn't have as much experience, they all seem knowledgeable. It's a contract station so they don't do passports or passport photos. They always have a huge stock of flat rate boxes and envelopes, as well as priority mail (by weight, not flat rate) boxes. They have all the necessary forms for insurance, certified mail, proof of mailing, customs, etc. For mailing these days, I highly recommend printing your shipping labels at usps.com. You save money (there is an actual online discount!) and there's less chance of you or others making mistakes. Plus you will get a free delivery confirmation number where you can track your package. I believe you have to pay for it if you do it in the post office. Funny thing about this place, depending on the day, the employees might be wearing their "uniforms" which consist of matching funny t-shirts. Also, take a glance behind the counter and be transported to the world Star Wars. That's all I'm gonna say. read more

If I could give 0 stars, that would be my rating of this PO. I sent a xmas gift last year & it was never received by the recipient, even though a tracking# was given to an employee to search for it! I immediately opened a claim after it was determined they could not find it. It took up until this month of May (over 4 months) after filing the claim to verify, YES, it is indeed LOST! I talked to the company that originally shipped the gift & they are reshipping free of charge! USPS did not even take responsibility in the matter! This location has a bad reputation, but the people that work there are actually very nice and helpful. If you dont have cash, there's a BankOH atm a few steps away! Or write a check. Plenty of businesses don't take cards, so people just need to take a few deep breaths about that. Relax, it's a little old school. They have all the flat rate and priority boxes and envelopes. They also have a variety of stamps. The hours are kind of junk, but whatever! Its a convenient location and kind service. For example, a nice employee today advised me to use the Priority box based on weight rather than a Flat rate box for my package going to Hilo and I saved $8! Cheerful, amiable young people making a good deal of a potentially mind-numblingly repetitive job. I actually enjoy the prospect of going there. They are one of the few community P.O.s still in operation, and they save a long drive out of the valley - thus, deserve heaps of encouragement. They are a major defining distinction between Manoa Valley Center as a village, versus a strip mall. Let's be real, here. Their service flat out sucks. I don't know if I've ever experienced anyone outwardly so rude. They are so rude here, they almost have to be trying to be that rude. There usually aren't many customers which is why I come here...but I bet I know why there aren't many customers. I'm down for any employee that can multi-task. I think it makes them more valuable. But this lady...her idea of multi-tasking is ignoring me to play a game on her iphone and talk to her co-worker (who is not quite as rude as she is, but is pretty rude too).
