Since I was working at a local credit union at the airport, I decided to stop by the airport location of the US post office to ship out a package to my friend on the mainland. Although the airport location ss is not a regular stop for me (as I normally go to the Kahala location), I do find the airport postal location to clean, service is pretty efficient, and there are a lot of available free postal supplies which you can help yourself to. There is also a self serve kiosk available, if you choose not to wait in the regular line. Today the wait and line was ridiculously long. 1 worker too! Was 2 but 1 had to take her break leaving just 1 person. The line is now 15 plus ppl. Stood in line for twenty minutes. There was only one counter worker. While I was standing in line another worker past by and notice that I had parcel in my hands. She looked at it and told me the they couldn't ship it. The Amazon label had a letter on it to designate that contained a battery. She said I should contact Amazon I thanked her and left the long line. read more

Postal services in Honolulu, Hawaii... Since I was in the airport area, I took my packages to this US Post Office. It's spacious, clean, and efficient! The parking lot is free and there are many spaces! They even have convenient drop boxes so customers don't have to get out of their vehicles to mail a small item such as a greetingcard!! If you go straight inside, there are several workers who will assist you. If you go to the right, there's a Self-service area for those who like to do it themselves. I liked the variety of boxes and envelopes available that were free of charge! I'm gonna use those next time - instead of buying envelopes! Lesson learned! I really liked this post office! Update 10-25-25. My husband wanted to go early to mail he's package back to Amazon. He was 3 deep in line at 9:15 am or so and I was wondering how cone the line wasnt moving. Well you know how the postal service works 1 service representative doing everything. Checking the packages, boxes, giving out stamps and getting people's packages. Well a representative came and told my husband he's hads to contact Amazon because it enclosed is a lithium battery for he's radio. So got out of line and left. The Grand Poobah... The post office to seriously get it done and though I don't come here very often it's THE place when you need to get it sent. This Daniel K Inouye International Airport in Honolulu is home to this US Post Office location as it's right beside Terminal 1 or Interisland Hawaiian Airlines and is easily found when following the signs provided. Parking here is decently available even during the peak of the holiday season as the line does move fast but they do provide places for some that need to pack and write on their packages/letters even with boxes outside for easy grab and go. They do have a separate area for their self serve kiosk which I absolutely love super fast and easy with a chute right beside to mail your items. Very efficient layout along with a drive by mail drop off so you don't have to leave your car places like this is what makes the stress of mailing items easy. Thank you! read more

5 days before Christmas, we stepped into the post office 8 minutes before closing and the employees were still joyful, patient, helpful, and pleasant. Merle helped to educate us on the boxes we used to pack our items and we changed them out quickly at the counter. This place is pretty convenient, large parking and several people working. I didn't have a long wait time. My only is after this sweet lady that took care of me requested for a worker to get boxes. The lady asked twice for me. And someone told the lady that was supposed to get the boxes to do something else. That Had me waiting for a while and then I noticed there were other people waiting. Someone finally got impatient and asked her for the boxes again and it took her two seconds to get them. So that was unnecessary. Or just put boxes out for people to get at their leisure. Even on a busy Christmas time at the Honolulu airport post office- I still found parking quickly. Workers are still courteous even with the long line of people that was moving smoothly along. The self-service machines were well used and alleviated some of the lines. I prefer this post office location since it is open on weekdays until 8pm read more

I love the convenient after hours of it being open for the working class. I usually can't make it to any post office but this location closes later at 8pm on weekdays! New discovery of this location has made it possible to get boxes out if need be. Service is great too, they are quick and friendly. There is a nice breeze sometimes too while waiting in line. :) read more

Most of the front counter personnel are nice and efficient. The problem here is the constant stream of customers who ship multiple boxes to overseas addresses. You see them with coolers, plastic bins etc. and they don't just ship one, they have half a dozen or more. Many don't fill in all forms and pre label which means they take up counter space indefinitely. Bring a good set of EarPods and your favorite show to watch because it's gonna be awhile. read more

Gotta give some love to the United States Postal Service, especially at Christmas time. The line at main off never seems to go down but it moves pretty quickly. The clerks on the window, especially Gerry & Merril, are the best and keep the line moving. USPS has done a great job putting empty USPS flat rate boxes outside so customers can just grab and go. If you use click and ship, you can just drop your package off in the bin on the right side of the lobby. It is a great option if you don't want to wait in line. Just have patience with main office, not many clerks and since this is the hub, lots of customers trying to mail stuff off. The USPS clerks are always working hard, friendly and very helpful. I'll continue to use USPS main office for all my mailing needs. Merry Christmas! read more

On several occasions I have come across Merlie. She is so helpful and knowledgeable. She makes it nice to come to this location near the airport. They have a conveyor roller thing that you can put your boxes on while waiting on line. That's convenient. They are open M-F 9am- 8pm and Sat 9am-4pm. Closed on Sundays. They have PO Boxes outside of the location with lights and camera surveillance. read more

Convenient location. It can get a little crowded but they usually have two desks running during peak hours. This Post Office location is conveniently conveniently right at the Honolulu International airport. Just off of Nimitz Hwy., easy to access; a nice central location. I have used this Post Office about 8 times. As with any Post Office recently, there is a wait for service.... so be ready to stand in line. If you prepaid your postage and they are labeled correctly, you can simply drop your packages off to the right of the windows. It was only during my last visit that I noticed that parking is not free! Previously the driver waited in the car and I ran in, so who knows? I am not sure if this is a new thing or it was just implemented. Anyhow, I fail to see how we should be paying for parking when utilizing a service that we all should have access to easily... kind of as a right, you know; being a US citizen and all? But I digress.... The last time I visited, I used the mail dropboxes. Mailing things out from the airport Post Office versus from my home, will get them to their destination more quickly, and reduce their exposure to hot trucks, etc. The drive-through dropboxes are very convenient because all you have to do is drive around the circle and pull right up next to them. Conveniently, the supplies are laid out in front of the Post Office, no need to stand in line for supplies. Mailing boxes, envelopes, and other such things are available and easy to access. I come here occasionally when I mail out my bills. I only have a couple that I mail out. I don't mail it from the other post office locations because I need my bills to go out right away. Why don't I pay my bills online? I don't really have time to be on my cell phone to go online but it seems like during the holidays I have more credit card bills. I want to just pay them off so no more owing money. Anyway this is the main post office and I know it will get out sooner if I mail it from here. Parking isn't plentiful but it does fill up fast during the holidays because people mail out packages. Good service, nice staff, very convenient! So far, it has been reliable. The staff works hard to process many customers everyday day. The self service kiosks work well. If you miss the open hours, your deposited mail will still be picked up from the post office mail boxes at 8 pm daily, except for Sundays. read more

I've gone to this location about 20 times over the past several years. This rating is based on a comparison of this USPS location against other USPS locations; as opposed to an overall rating of USPS. What I love the most about this location is that they have 2 self-service kiosks outside that are available 24-7. So even when the actual business is closed, the kiosks are still available. This is even better than then downtown and Mililani locations which only have a single self-service kiosk which is always busy. I also appreciate that this location has multiple options for dropping off letters/parcels with pre-purchased label. You can use the round-about which saves you from getting out of your car, and there are also multiple other drop areas near the self-service kiosks. Lastly, I feel like dropping off mail at this location means that it gets delivered quicker (since it's at the airport). What I dislike about this location is that it is ALWAYS busy. No matter what time you go, there is always a line out the door. After all these years, they haven't figured out, or implemented any solution to this issue. Additionally, the parking lot is always a parking lot hahaha. It is always crowded, with limited parking, and slow poke drivers that need to contend with a constant stream of pedestrian traffic. I've also had quite a few instance in which they failed to successfully scan my packages so that I was unable to track them until they were actually delivered (really upsetting as you pay for tracking for no reason). read more

This place is by far the best thing that's ever happened to Oahu as far as shipping items to the mainland because for one they are open super late compared to the standard hours of operation I guess because he is the main hub and a lot of mail comes to this location and get sorted out prior to getting placed inside the airplane, because this location is at the airport and the line is usually long, but there are several attendance and cashier that helps each customer to break the line down so much more faster than other places. There is a lot of parking in the area and the whole facility is under a building and there's a lot of places for you to eat lunch to grab a snack because there's a snack shop right there outside and also on campus there's places where you can sit down with your kids or with your family watch them play I have something to eat or drink like a small refreshment. The good thing about this area also is it's covered with a lot of shade and your kids and all your family will not be in direct sunlight so it's family friendly at the fact that there is a lot of parking it's great because if you plan to make a day out of it you could just get lunch find parking and eat on campus and then after that you could just go to the post office so that's what we have done before in the past with the kids and they enjoyed walking around the post office. read more

USPS does not make an attempt at delivery before sending a package or mail requiring signature to the postal facility. I live in a condo and the mail person could call on the call box. I was at home and had a letter that needed a signature. No call and I had to go to the post office. Also, the carrier's are now prefilling the pink slips and not even bringing packages to the property. They say they attempted delivery when we track a shipment but that is not true. read more

My favorite USPS location hands-down. The counter workers are always quick and friendly, but if there's a line they also have two self service stations. While I love the workers at my home post office, I notice that when I send mail out at the airport location, they always reach their destination faster since it's the islands distribution center. The one time I did experience an issue with my package going missing, I was instructed to contact consumer affairs. To be fair, the package was sent just before the holidays and considering the high volume the USPS experiences during December, missing packages are not unheard of. However, Marcel from consumer affairs was very helpful with the process from start to finish. The whole process took a while since they're a busy office, but in the end I was reimbursed for my missing parcel which is honestly more than I was expecting. My recommendation is that if your going to be sending out packages during the holidays, try to get it scanned in at the counter if you want to ensure it's confirmed in the system! read more

The automated service hung up on me 5 times after giving my tracking number and I almost got through once to get this message "All offices are closed" It's 10 am here in Hawaii and I don't remember any holidays. Well the reason why I tried to call In was to reschedule a delivery but for some reason, my address of 30yrs is broken and I can't reschedule anything so I tried calling it in and here we are, so I called in 4 times to my local post office and was hung up on all 4 times. It can't be this bad, I still need to get a hold of someone eventually until then services are garbage. I've never gone through so many hoops trying to contact the US post office ever. Another great stress free experience at this location. The line wasn't that long, and the employee was very friendly, efficient and addressed my needs. She helped me with sending off my 2 packages. Then she supplied me with priority mailing labels and custom forms. I needed a book of stamps, she told me that the price was going up so it would be a good idea to buy them now before the price increases. I was able to look through the book at all the available stamps and got 2 books! Such a seamless chore to run since you receive great quality service. Love going here! read more

Sent a box Priority express. Given the price of &135 from the clerk. I agreed to pay the cost since I wanted the box to arrive in Arizona the quickest way possible. I completed the address label, gave it to the clerk, he then says ok $185. Im like wth. How did it go from $135 tp $185. He says its because the size of the box I used. Wow he could at least tell me that from the start. I agreed to pay that price because I really wanted the box there the soonest. He says it will arrive to the destination on Monday by 3pm. Guaranteed delivery at the date given. I was given the receipt and tracking number. I tracked it on Saturday to see the progress and it stated departed Honolulu on 10/16 at 6:44pm. Well that was the last update since. No new updates. Box was never delivered as stated. I went personally down the this location and spoke to the clerk who helped me. He says it was still too early, ok its 4pm here and box still not there. He mentioned there might be a delay but I explained theres no new updates. My box fell off the grid. He says sometime they forget the scan the label. He told me I definitely get a refund though because it was not delivered on time. But I can't file for one until 7 days passes. I file a lost mail report on 10/20. And also file for a refund online, didn't need to wait the 7 days as mentioned.I get s response from the post office where the package was to arrive. They mention they are awaiting a reply from the phoenix location. I get a reply today from a customer service supervisor stating that it that the tracking still has no new updates, like duh! I knew that! And also stated it doesn't look like the box left Hawaii! WTH she tells me I might want to do a mail recovery search, if labels become detached or items become loose it goes to the mail recovery. She also mentioned 'it looks like you got a refund' that is besides the point! Like where is my box! I again went down to this post office on Wednesday 10/21, spoke to a supervisor and all she could say to me was 'you just need to wait until your box is delivered then I can file for a refund'. My concern was wheres the box?! She seemed like she wasn't interested in helping me. That was her only answer to me was to wait the 7 days. Nothing like 'sorry about this but let me see what I can do.' She just handed me back the form and walked away. Poor customer service on her part especially for a supervisor. Well I guess my box is somewhere sitting at this facility. Very disappointment of the outcome. I will do a mail recovery though to see if I will get the box or not. Yelp Challenge 365 # 26/365 I thought I would change my venue today and write about something most of us may take for granted or not give a second thought to and that is the USPS, particularly the main station located outside the Honolulu Airport. I will preface my review by noting I have USPS locations within walking distance from my office, I have a postage meter in my office and a few other reasons why going to a station is not a requirement for me. Be it as it may, I sometimes find mail which I want postmarked NOW, not tomorrow hence, my visit to the main USPS location The Cons: always crowded with a line snaking out the door, you would be driving there in which case regardless of what direction you're coming from you are faced with"traffic", depending on the time of day you go there you may have parking problems.... The Pros: Line moves FAST, in fact, they are in my opinion the fastest moving station I know of ANYWHERE in Hawaii that is, ugh! traffic is everywhere everytime of day so live with it and same with the parking The other highlights: friendly and helpful staffing, extended hours of operation, late pick up (I think 9pm), postage/parcel machine outside for you to mail, meter even parcels and purchase stamps. wonderful little machine. LIke I said, I find myself driving to this station rather than to deal with stations closer to me....The drive, the wait in line, the postal business, getting back in my car and driving back to my office may be "Faster" than my walking to the station close to me (7 min walk) , standing in line, doing my business and walking back to my office. Item was a small eBay package. Completed the Customs form, as instructed by the postal worker, and got my confirmation receipt with an estimated delivery date five days from the date sent. Honolulu to Guam, how difficult is that, right? Today--seven days later--THE PACKAGE ARRIVES IN FLORIDA!!! Not only is it now two days late...IT TRAVELED ACROSS TO THE WRONG END OF THE GOOD OL' US OF A! WTH?! Called this branch but they couldn't even offer me a new arrival date to Guam! Yep, my package is rolling around in some postal bin in Tampa supposedly, but they can't even tell me that for sure. Why wasn't I told that USPS keeps raising their postage prices so our packages can take the scenic route to their final destination?
