Postal services in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii... Since I was in the neighborhood, I thought that I should stop in and ask a question. There were many free parking stalls right in front. However, inside, there was a line of customers. Luckily, there were 2 female workers who were very efficient! I got to the front in no time! It was a Saturday when the Post Office is only open half a day. No wonder it's kind of crowded... especially with tourists... LOL! I had to ask a question about the current rate to mail a letter. I have lived here for over 17 years and have always had great experiences at this location. They are fast (sometimes understaffed- but that's not the only site staffs fault). Today they were open early and no line and the postal worker was friendly. Please be kind to customer service workers and don't be in a rush when trying to get things done! read more

This is the worst post office. I've been living at the same address in Waikiki for more than 10 years. All of a sudden a usps carrier decides to STEAL MY PACKAGE. Now I'm out $400 and hours of my time trying to get ahold of someone who can help me. I planned on going to a wedding in March. I ordered a dress online to wear to the wedding in late January. Everything was great. I was notified that my package was shipped and en route. On Feb 10, I was then notified that my package was delivered while I was at work. I excitedly drove home in anticipation of trying in my new dress. I searched everywhere. In the mail area of my apartment, near the parcel locker in the garage, by my door. Nothing. I immediately thought the worst and submitted a missing package service request form online through usps.com. Days go by and I hear nothing. I try calling and leave a few messages. Finally, some idiot named Ann calls me back and leaves a message saying my package was returned to sender and she closes the service request. I had specifically requested that I be contacted through email because I cannot answer my phone at work. I call back. Maybe 20 times. No one answers. I leave voicemails. No one returns my call. I open more service requests and they automatically get marked as "resolved". I take off work early one day to go into the post office to talk to someone. They say they'll give me a call. They don't. I call some more. Nothing. The customer service procedures are terrible... if you call the call center, you'll spend at least 20 minutes going through all the voice automated options and info about getting free Covid tests. On top of that, the call center people can't actually do anything. WhT is the point of a customer service call center if they don't provide customer service.... At this point it's a week before the wedding and I can see through the tracking number that my package is on the slow boat back to the mainland. The wedding comes and goes. I'm out $400. USPS won't give me any answers. Ann the idiot finally calls me and I answer. She asks for Karen. I almost flipped a shit at that moment but I waited until she asked me "what do you want me to do?" DO YOUR FUCKING JOB AND DELIVER MY PACKAGE. It has been a week since I've talked to Ann. Still nothing. I've tried to file a postal inspection case because at this point I have determined that USPS has stolen my package. read more

There's a whole list of go to post office and this one is mine, It's not my actual one for my area but strange enough it's closer and has enough parking that I'm never waiting forever for one. What actually makes this place special is that it still has the self service mailing kiosk, no need to stand in line I use the provided Priority flat rate shipping box. The medium flat box already has a self seal on each end so no need for tape all you do is pack and ship...super super easy!! They do have a small area to buy any needed necessities to make your package that I haven't seen in any other post offices. Give this one a try lots of parking it's sure to make your mailing needs a lot easier! Thank you! read more

The line was ridiculously short (only two people waiting in front at around 11:30am) and the worker was super helpful when I told him I wasn't sure which envelope to use and that I didn't have an address slip. This office serves as a big help for those who don't have a permanent place to live in for a while or people who just recently move here in the island. In short, they allow renters to have a physical address. In a world full of paper mail, better put them in a safe place for any parcel or documents expected to go in or out. Recently we ordered trekking bag packs and other things needed for the car. And using this post office address, it helps a lot to ease the stress on receiving parcels especially in bulk sizes. Customer service by far is good. Some are friendly others are just a total snob. Hormonal imbalance I guess. You can pay the rent in here annually or half a year. What's cool is that if a renter come after hours, you are able to get your mails in your mailbox if you got a code requested from them. Just inquire the cashier/counter area. Yes I still send postcards and this is the only gift they are getting from me, LOL. Do yourself a favor and just go to the Kahala post office, where the employees are polite and helpful. The Waikiki office smells like urine, and is staffed with the rudest employees I've ever encountered. And there is always just one employee working. The others pretend to be busy in the back and don't bother to come up front even when the line wraps around the building. The manager Will not assist with anything. And they overcharge on packages. Also, you have to pay for parking. It can be difficult to judge how much time you need to pay for considering there is one employee working. they need to set up appointments for people getting post office boxes or applying for passports. The woman in line today around 1:30 PM was being helped by the only employee for over 45 minutes. The rest of us were standing online basically aging. The line extended back through the building., yet the one employee Ikaika almost seem to appear happy that one customer was taking close to an hour to assist. He kept disappearing into the back to check on some thing or see if they had something in stock. Another clerk who was busy sorting mail in the back reluctantly, came up to the front to complete a few transactions then disappeared again stating it was her lunch break. During Covid the employees would show up sick. Yet the office was still understaffed. Avoid this location like the plague. read more

It is Waikiki, $7 for 2 hours or $12 for 3 hours and $5 for each additional hour after that. There is a kiosk that accepts credit cards (no Discover card) and cash. They delivered or misdelivered my packages to wrong addresses and lost my packages twice in the last 6 months. First time, they sent me an apology email and I thought, okay, mistakes happen. The second time, I got the initial response and waited 3 weeks before I wrote them again. About 3 days later, I got an apology email saying that I should maybe check with neighbors. Seriously, I live in an apartment building, do they expect me to just randomly knock on people's doors? Of course, the emails didn't include any options of compensation. This is the main Waikiki Post Office making it perfect for tourists looking to send souvenirs and post cards, or for temporary residents to set up a convenient PO Box. Located on Saratoga Road just off of Derussy Park, it's easy to get here on the bus or just walking from anywhere in Waikiki. The location has free parking in front of the lobby perfect if you're just stopping in. The facility is large with plenty of space to be in the air conditioning while waiting in line. Post Office Boxes are to the left, with the counter lines to the right. Kiosks and stands are on the wall with free and premium packaging items. One thing that makes this location unique is a separate dedicated line for international shipping on the far right. To make waiting shorter, employees often go around with forms to expedite the process when you finally get to the front, just hand them the slip. Employees here are generally friendly and very fast. I never complain about customer service but here I am. Today I went to this location asking Ikaika for advice on how to ship my package. I asked him if I could switch shipping options before checking out and he got infuriated for some reason. He started yelling at me not letting me speak. I left and asked another cashier for advice and he stated loudly "She doesn't know anything it's her first week." I was appalled by his tone of voice and how rude he was to me as a customer and his coworkers. I had a guest behind me come up to comfort me because he brought me to tears. I kindly stated "I am sorry but ai will come back another day" and he responded "NO let's just ship it the way you want to." This is a fairly busy station, but they had only two people at the windows when I went. Very slow, resulting in a long line. When I was there a few days ago, a woman went on a rant about the service. She said the only reason she was at the window in the first place was that the self service machine was hamajang (Hawaiian slang for messed up, broken, etc). She said they needed more people on duty, which is true. She made it clear that she didn't blame the employees on duty, but she also said that their supervisor needed to get his excrement together and fix the staffing. Very funny stuff. Another problem? Parking. The US Postal Service is apparently is leasing out the parking lot to a private company for after hours parking. There is a machine to pay for parking, but it's not clear that the whole parking lot is free for USPS customers during open hours. If I could leave this particular USPS office with less than 1 star, I would. Watch out for Elena and Jenny, they both have major attitude, and not only are they extremely rude, but they don't listen to what USPS service is being requested of them. Both women also had insisted on talking over me, when it was clear they were in the wrong, especially when you consider both were unfamiliar with the products and services that the USPS offers. The worst customer service I've ever witnessed at a post office. I have a bright blue note on my mail box stating to the delivery driver to call my number for delivers, which s/he neglected to do. So I had to go to the post office to collect my package. I tried to call before hand to see if my package was there, the phone went straight to a disconnected tone. So we headed to the post office. While we where in line A women came in 2 mins before 4:30 and they denied her service because the clock on the wall said 4:30 but it was 4:28. Everyone in line was begging for them to just let her pick up her package but the lady with the big beady eyeballs was so rude and inconsiderate. She stated that they go by the clock on the wall but that clock was inaccurate. When it came to my package they wouldn't check and see if the deliver truck came back yet. not sure if it's intentional or just a recurring mistake, but the local 808 number to reach the station directly is always "busy" when you call in the afternoons. in the mornings it just rings through until it clicks off as if someone picked up the receiver and immediate hung up. i get the message, they don't wanna speak to you directly for any reason. but when your postman is being unprofessional and you need immediate attention put on the matter, it can be frustrating. i had a post delivery man not allow me from grabbing my mail and requested to see my ID (which I'm not required by law to show even law enforcement if I choose not to, let alone someone on the street simply identifying as a postman. the aesthetics of things with the uniform and handcart do not guarantee he is who he says he is). This was not my usual cheerful post lady that calls me "sweetie" in the best neighborhood auntie kind of way. No, it was someone I had never seen on my route before arguing with my building management's maintenance guys because he was trying to replace the key on my mailbox. I explained to the postman that USPS specifically states on their website that if I loose the key to my community box (the kind where one key opens all the boxes so the postman can sort mail), I should reach out to my building management to troubleshoot. Trust me, USPS' website was the first place I went when I lost my key because I knew the community mailbox we have is considered to be USPS' jurisdiction. My manager did not have a copy of the key and chose to change the lock out for a new one, which I did not know. I thought I was getting a replacement key, but the maintenance guy was already drilling my box, at which point the postman showed up to stop him. What timing! He asked if I had contacted USPS and i told him I had checked their website for guidance and was taking the steps outlined there. Maintenance guy agreed with me that this was the option since the post office had not supplied another copy to the mailbox, which is something that the postman confirmed USPS initially provided since the mailbox is technically theirs. then he said he would not let my maintenance man drill because there was mail inside and i needed to show him my ID to clear the box before anyone could drill. I reluctantly handed over my ID, which he didn't like because my maiden name was on the mailbox. But my maiden name is still my middle name, not hard to put it together. There's also mail that matched my ID inside the mailbox so not sure what his argument was. But the kicker was that there's also my husband's mail inside which he only told me i couldn't grab only after we went through the whole ordeal. He was being dodgy about my questions and he was getting heated, raising his voice and repeatedly saying "contact USPS!!!" At this point he was speaking in a questionably inebriated sort of way and moving clumsily about, which made me wonder if he was of sound mind. He told me he felt threatened by me, woman of petite stature in tiedye running shorts, a pink cloth mask, and pink sandals on, all the while getting right up in my face to tell me so. I mean talk about a pot calling the kettle black because this man trying to prevent me from getting my mail while acting as if he were enforcing some kind of law that I was implied to be breaking is what was actually threatening, if you ask me. If there was something wrong with the building management's proposed plan of action, then explain it, don't just scream contact USPS while being hostile and generally unprofessional while representing the very organization you insist i contact. overall an unnecessary drawn out process and confusion that kept me from accessing my mail for close to five days due to the weekend + building management completely forgetting to do their job on monday as promised. read more

How weird is it to visit, check in to, or rate a post office when you're on vacation? I guess not that weird, because I'm doing it, and I'm seeing a few other people who are referencing tourism in their reviews. This post office was located about halfway between our hotel and Kuhio Beach. It's in the middle of what seems to be a very touristy area without much permanent residential surroundings, but there are a ton of people who work in the area, so it's probably better situated than I realized. My wife wanted to send some post cards back home to people in our wedding party, so we grabbed the post cards from local shops just up the street, came by here, bought stamps, and dropped the cards in the mail. This facility doesn't open until 9 a.m., which is a little late to me. There are long lines with all the tourists trying to mail things home; however, all customer service counters are never open. Sometimes the wait can be 20 minutes more, which is frustrating when you're on lunch break. Optimally, all counters should be open during peak hours to alleviate the long lines and long waits. This post office in Waikiki is pretty reliable for quick service. I also had a question about how to send coconuts in the mail - not a question that comes up often probably. The clerk talked to me for a solid 5 minutes about how to best do that. I was impressed with his knowledge and helpful, friendly attitude. On our recent three day retreat to Honolulu I failed to bring US pre-paid postage with me, so before breakfast one morning, and before the Waikiki Station had even opened, we were at the doors of USPS hoping for an auto-kiosk. With only one person in line ahead of us at the only automated machine, we had a short wait before our turn in front of the computer. She happily printed us a designated number of boring stamps. Came here the day after Thanksgiving to mail out my many souvenirs (pic enclosed) Here in LB the post office opens at 8:30am for the staff to serve you. I also had bad luck receiving one of my packages from Honolulu to LB, the mail carrier delivered MY BOX to an address down the street. In Waikiki, this post office opens at 9am for the staff to serve you, but the lobby was open after 8am. I had time to pack everything in my boxes and at 8:45am they started taking customers. There was already 5 or 6 people in line and even a side window that opened up. Wow aloha spirit, 100 star+ service! Will definitely visit here again to mail out my stuffs. This review is overall USPS service on Hawaii, I only listed this post office because it is my current parcel place. Since moving here to Hawaii, most of my packages are delived from the Mainland, stuff from school, mom, and general online purchases. But 8 out of 10 of my packages delivered to me by USPS have come damaged, lost, or blantanly opened by "someone" and no one can do ANYTHING about it. I say if my package comes delivered damaged, shipping cost should be refunded, or at least discounted. Why is it that we just have to sit back a watch as we get screwed over by our government employees (im talking about you too TSA). On the mainland I can't think of any instant that my mail arrived damaged for any reason, but in Hawaii it is almost a given that something I recieve will have already been opened by some accident, or if I send back my NetFlix they never seem to arrive to Netflix. I have no idea who is getting their jollies out of opening my packages and stealing my previously watched DVDs... why steal 'Solaris'? that movie SUCKED! I would give a one star, but Im forced to use USPS because I can not control how people send me things, Meh. I've experienced better. read more

This is Waikiki's Post Office: it has the best of Hawaii and sometimes the not so best of Hawaii. I'll try not to be too long winded. Like most full service post offices, this one has PO box rentals, service counters, and various postage supplies for sale. I selected this post office when I first moved to Oahu due to the proximity of the place I living at the time and since then have learned rental prices of boxes vary by location (ahem...Waikiki is more expensive than the Makiki Post Office-aka the one under the freeway). Customer service here is better than Makiki but worse than the downtown Post Office, I think partially because lines here can be full of TOURISTS who don't know USPS system of mailing things such as international declarations forms. It can challenge the patience of anyone, even me watching them, especially during peak times or holidays. During those times, just go to USPS.com and read and pre-print your labels using flat rate boxes. So why do I continue to renew my PO Box rental and use this post office even when it's now the farthest from my home? 1. Parking (there seems to be a stall no matter what time of day I come) 2. Availability of USPS supplies, they keep it stocked unlike other locations 3. Secure, if you come after hours, the lobby is locked unless you're a renter and need a code to get it 4. Automated Postal Center (APC) is fast, convenient, and #2 goes well with this 5. This location allows renters to have a physical address to receive other shipping carriers deliveries. Yup, Fed Ex, UPS, etc will deliver to this post office if you rent a box. Ask them at the service counter how to do that AND you can even get emails announcing when you have mail. (NOTE: this is something other Post Offices offer BUT it's something that seems to work consistently here compared with other Post Offices that friends are renting at). Finally, if you need to get something mailed out of state FAST, go to the airport post office. Based on experience, priority mail items I've shipped, get to people faster when you go directly to the airport post office. I'll write a review of that post office soon too. read more

I normally love coming to this post office, but today when I showed up at 9:30 AM, there was a tall caucasion employee with no mask, not even trying to cover his face, in the middle of a pandemic. I was shook. The thought of being in an enclosed space with someone with so little regard for the law made me so uncomfortable that I even let him ring me up. I only had one customer in front of me to decide if I was going to even go to his window. His other employees I have seen there before and they're so chipper and so lively, but they did not seem very lively today. I'm sure that they feel just as uncomfortable as me. I tried to call the location to let them know that they should probably not let this go on any longer, but the number said that there was a overwhelming amount of calls and I was never able to speak to someone. Every US Post Office that I have been to (and I have been to many), whether here in Hawaii, or on the mainland, have all been designed very similar to each other. Same colors, same employee uniforms, same blue boxes, and same post office boxes. Some things that I like about this location is the convenient parking (for some reason, I always get VIP, right in front parking), professional service, and Saturday hours. One thing that I don't like is that sometimes the line can be long. One thing that might be helpful is that part of their parking lot is paid, public parking. I'm not sure what the rates are, but it could be helpful if parking is hard to find. You could park here and take a stroll around Waikiki. read more

Terrible!! Asian man who name was Nilo, Nelo or whatever...That guy was really mean to us!!! We didn't understand when he explained to us about what was the differences between Media mail and Priority mail. So we asked him about it again, then He sighed and became very angry. He called another lady and told her about us like we were slow and dumb. After that, the lady yelled at us "other customer is waiting" and made us look bad in front of other customers. Without hesitation, this is a ONE-star branch of the US Postal Service. It's branches like these where I understand why the USPS is losing money. I came here to send a T-shirt to a friend. She left it in her hotel room and I was going to ship it back to CA for her. Simple, yes? Not having a box or anything, I walk in and the only choices available to you are the Priority Mail packages. I grab one, fill out the slip and head to the counter. "No rush, so I'd like to send this as economically as possible, please," I say. "This is the wrong package. You see? It says PRIORITY MAIL. You see? This is the express way. You need a package that doesn't say this on in." "Oh, sorry. Do you sell packages for non-express mail?" He then points behind me and I turn around. "You see those plain blue and white boxes?" "Yeah," I say. ''No, no! You're looking in the wrong spot! More to the right!!" I'm thinking to myself, how in the hell do you know where my eyes are looking when you're standing behind me?? I look more to the right, as directed, and this only frustrates him even more. "Why are you looking at the entrance?! Don't you see the blue and white boxes?!" I look back at where I was originally looking and frustratingly say "Yes, yes, I see them." I turn back around and WHILE IM LOOKING AT HIM, he rolls his eyes and does a little huff. Like, what the f*ck? "Write directly on the package where you want to send it and then bring it back." I do, as told, and then bring it back. My unluckiness brings me back to him. Not much is said, I pay, and then I leave. There are several issues I have with this place: 1. Being in the middle of Waikiki, I am sure there are TONS of foreigners not familiar with the USPS that use this location. It is NECESSARY for the clerks to exhibit patience when providing service to these customers simply because they may not know how to send things correctly. Not their fault! But based on my experience, I almost feel bad for ANYONE that uses this branch because its not fair someone has to go thru the same hissy-fit the clerk gave me...just to send a simple item. Where's the aloha spirit?! 2. Package and box placement. AS SOON as you walk in, you only see the Priority Mail boxes. The regular parcel boxes are almost hidden behind the corner leading into the main office of the branch. Why not place them NEXT to the Priority Mail option? Give customers the choice as soon as they enter instead of throwing a product in their face they may not need. 3. No bicycle parking. Why not? I WILL NOT RETURN. I don't like giving one stars and up until now, I have't given one. But it's almost like the mail clerk I dealt with doesn't give a crap about my business.
