Customer service? Not really! Mail carrier competent? Not really! Tracked my parcel online at stated was attempted delivery on 09/17/15 with notice left! NO NOTICE LEFT. Ok, so I waited another day hoping that it will be delivered then(HAPPENED BEFORE) but NOTHING! 2 days later go into the Santa Clara location on a Saturday and the covering supervisor there Mike said the normal supervisor Virginia will contact you no later than Monday. Guess what?! No call! Shocking I know! Attempted to call multiple times.. I mean multiple times with no luck. Also, it says leave a message but the mailbox is full(awesome! I know!). So yesterday 09/22/15 I go again to the post office and the line is long as usual with only 2 employees(some nice, some grumpy..its hit or miss). I asked an employee if I can speak to Virginia the supervisor and the women behind the counter says get in line and I will page her for you when its your turn. I said really?! I have to get in line just to speak to the supervisor with a problem I had previously. Yes! She said. Now, another employee comes out and I ask her to contact Virginia for me. She said ok. So, I wait and guess what! "Oh sorry, I forgot that she left for the day!" Hmm... Great!! Now, I give her the same information with tracking number and no luck. She says someone will contact you in a day, and says that Virginia is not the supervisor for your area! Again, GREAT!! I also have been calling everyday since as well with no luck! I am going to be that one guy that leaves 5 stars because who goes out of their way to give a post office a good review...well me. I mail a lot of stuff, recently I have been printing all my postage at home through stamps.com and then I come here to drop it off if I want it to go out the quickest. I have shipped from here before and Mondays are horrible because they are closed on the weekends, so try to plan ahead of time or buy online. As far as customer service, the people that work here are no BS, so don't BS them and they wont BS you. USPS is the cheapest route for a lot of your mailing needs. 90% of the time I find it cheaper than UPS and Fedex for smaller things. read more

What is the deal with this post office and its mail carriers? Since when is it ok to harrass someone you deliver mail to? When did it become OK to skip my house all together? Why is my mail being opened before I get it? For the past year someone (mail -male- carrier) has been messing around with my mail and it's not cool, ever heard of FEDERAL OFFENSE? I work from home so I need my supplies and materials in a timely manner, not when the post offices decides they want to deliver it. i pay for the shipping NOT for the post office to hold my packages hostage! I've been tracking a package since it shipped, someone over the past day there has been extreme weather conditions from Santa Clara Street to Downtown Hayward. Unless there was a tornado that I was unaware of, it's just cold, and the carrier who delivered to my neighbors yesterday had shorts on! WHAT EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS? In addition, simple items like a card hadn't been delivered, instead it was returned to the sender with the reason being undeliverable....WHAT???? The address was/is correct and the writing is VERY CLEAR...how was it undeliverable? We've had 10+ different carriers in the past year...10!!!!!!!!! That's insane and most of them are assholes, bery rude, leave gates open, pound on the door or rings the doorbell like they're the police (sign says DO NOT RING BELL too). When did customer service disappear and why is it ok for these carriers to be such jerks!!!!??? Time to get a personal mail box!!! UPDATE: According to usps.com tracking, the mail carrier is a liar!!! I was out side yesterday when I noticed him pull up deliver mail to my neighbor, pass me up and deiver to the apartments next to me. His reason for not delivering my mail: animal interference. Unless he is stating that I am an animal then he is highly mistaken. I was just me outside in my front yard, NO ANIMALS IN SIGHT. So it's ok to lie about why you didn't deliver my mail, but to just not deliver it all together. I know who the carrier is by description not name. When did it become ok for carriers to decide whom to deliver mail to and whom to skip? NEVER are there any animals outside when mail is delivered here and I have cameras to prove all of this!!! Had great experiences up until a mail carrier lied about attempting delivery. I waited all day for a package that never arrived, then the next day it was updated post mortem that they had attempted delivery so that they would not be found negligent. Even the time they threw on there I was literally sitting in my house waiting, and i further know they didn't come since there was no slip left (so they didn't even come by and just not try- it literally never happened). This is the second time I've had the mail carrier lie about attempting to deliver a package- and when I'm paying for upgraded shipping and the items are important, it's just another great reason to always use UPS. read more

So I had a less than stellar experience attempting to get my passport processed at the Fremont post office, which is basically DMV 2.0. I generally never set foot in such places unless I REALLY have to, because no matter how blatantly rude they are, apparently bitch-slapping them is still considered a federal offense?? Ugh, whatever. But I'm trying to think positive here. There's a silver lining in every cloud and that day, it was the staff at the Hayward branch. First of all, I don't know who decides these hours, but whoever did must think that people who want passports evidently don't work. They all close at like 2:30-3pm at the latest. We got there at a few minutes before closing, and I really thought we were just going to get turned away, but because we arrived before closing time, we got a number and were still helped! Granted it took another hour or two, but when it was finally my turn, the first thing I said to the lady was thank you for staying open. We chatted for a bit, and turns out that folks have also been having similar experiences at other local post offices, so the rule here is if you're around before the official closing time, and it's not a crazy line, they'll do what they can to help out. The only thing I'm confused about is that when you look on the official Passport Acceptance Facility page (https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/), search by zip code and filter by "Photo On Site", the Hayward Post office doesn't even come up as an option, but I did see a sign inside that states you can get the clerk to take your photo for $15? If I knew this I wouldn't have wasted 20 minutes at Walgreens, because this basically makes the post office a one-stop shop. Maybe the only other thing that might be as helpful would be a photocopy machine. Give them a chance for your passport needs, anything's better than going to SF or Fremont. read more

my packaged was delivered to my old address last Saturday which is still an EMPTY place after 5 months, and usps still delivered it to the door, I made a claim about my package and 3 days later I get an email that looks generated or just copied and pasted say'n "Instruction was given to the carrier to retrieve this package and forward it to your new address." This after 5 days after my package was delivered to my old address which is clearly empty! with the subject line in the email "Has Been Resolved!" How has my claim been resolved if I don't have my package! My reply to the email and usps responds with "Please contact the sender for any recourse to help resolve this inquiry. And provide them your new address. The carrier tried to retrieve the package but as of right now the house is vacant." Clearly the place is empty when it was delivered, SMH what help I got from this Virginia Joaquin(supervisor) to anyone who has issues with your mail here is a direct line to a supervisor 510-783-6637 this is a phone line they will answer unlike the number posted on Google search or yelp, bottom line is my package is gone, empty place for 5 months and they still delivered a package, very smart carriers! read more

The Staff here really are great and want to help but unfortunately there's usually only like 2-3 of them working. Horribly understaffed and things get lost there all the time. Both incoming and outgoing mail disappears and if you want to come get your mail prepare for an eternally long line. I haven't gotten a passport here but from what I've seen it's pretty dismal so prepare for a long wait. read more

I dont usually comes here. I prefer the one at Union City. Let's talk about this PO. My friend mail me an 2 days priority package from OC CA a few months ago. I tracked the package and it clearly said it arrives to this post office (on the 3rd) days. So I guess it will get to me on the 4th day but guess what. Nope, upon tracking the package again it was then transfer back to Oakland facility, then to New Jersey and finally delivered to a PO box No there. Go figure. How the hell that happened? Went to the PO, waited half an hour in line just to speak to the supervisor and she freaking insist that I probably instruct them to reroute it to New Jersey. Till today I don't really know what happe. Now let's talk about recent episode. We moved to our new place in June. We went USPS website to change our address or reroute our mail to our new address. We actually contacted all our billings company on the changes already but still a few mails will definitely get to the old address. Guess what, after a month not a single mail reroute to our new address. We have to go to our old house to pick them up. So, their excuses, they don't know what happen. The mail carrier was on vacation and it will takes 3-4 weeks to get into the system. Bull $&@$ the website clearer stated it will only takes 7-8 days. I like to go to USPS because usually they are cheaper than the competitors, but due to the extreme waits for any sort of service, it is not only a waste of time but money. To make things worse, there are different forms to fill out for different services, so God forbid you don t have the correct form, you may be turned away to correctly fill out said form and get back in the 1-2 hour line. Even if you need to mail one simple letter, be prepared to wait in line 40+ minutes just to buy one stamp. The self-serve machine works about 50% of the time. Review for the passport service (d11): I read reviews to show up an hour early, so I gave it a go. Nope. I showed up at around 8am on a Tuesday, and was told later that at my position I would be at the absolute cut-off - that is, I would only be seen if some people ahead of me couldn't have theirs done (mistakes or didn't show up when their number was called) AND it would likely be around 2 or 3pm. I came back that Friday at 6am. By the time I got there, I was in about position 10-13. The first people probably got there around 5am. True to their timing of 15 minutes per application, I was seen at around 12:15pm. Let that sink in for a second. I showed up at SIX in the morning and waited for a little over SIX hours for a walk-in. They only staff one clerk. Why?? The process itself was fine. checklist: -Application (filled out online, one sided) -Drivers license (+ photo copy front and back 1 sided) -Expired passport -Birth certificate (+ photo copy) -Photo (from costco, about $5) -Debit card -Social security card - I didn't bring mine and was fine, but it would be nice to have. The guy who did my application was through, nice, and efficient. I was done in 10 minutes or less. If it weren't for the insanity that was the wait time I would highly recommend it and rate 5/5. The lady that comes out every morning to address everyone about how she will not be able to help every one (bless her soul) is helpful and will come around to make sure the gist of your application is correct to save you from waiting hours in line only to be rejected later. read more

I quit shipping items on Saturday because the C street office was closed and I had to goto this one. There were days where I would wait for 30-45 minutes to mail a package. For some reason we don't live in this post code but we have to go here to pick up our packages. There is a "dutch door" to pick up your packages. You can pick up your packages at 6am though. Why this post office deserves less then one star. 1) It is ALWAYS understaffed. At 8:30 am (when they open) there is a line to get in to the counters. This happens every day. However, there is always only one person ready to accept the customers. 2) They close at 5 pm. There is always a line out the door and never get everyone in on time. 3) The staff is mostly unfriendly. Once in awhile one of the people will be friendly or smile but this is not usual. 4) I think, just for fun, they request for me to do silly things. One week, I have to fill out a form one way. The next week it's another. The week after ... 5) Just a personal peeve. If you need stamps -- buy them from the machine in the lobby. You don't need to stand in line. They have also have a machine where you can weigh your packages, pay by credit or debit and print your postage. You can't do this with international packages (the only reason I need to stand in line). AVOID!!! read more

Worst. Post office. Ever. The parking lot has poor traffic flow. It's probably not helped by the people from nearby ghettoland yelling at each other about who parked where first. 20 minute parking is obeyed by very much nobody on Saturdays, because of the long lines. Speaking of those waiting lines, inside they are confusing and unlabeled. Every time I've been there, many people people asked if "this was the right line" for what they wanted. There are two categories of workers here: 1) Rude, like the lady who didn't even turn around to address me when I asked politely for help. She briefly said, "Yes?" without even turning as she kept doing some menial task. 2) Slow, like the underpaid guy with the turban who fetches parcels for those poor folks who are growing beards from waiting in line for eternity and forever. Self service kiosk. Mostly friendly staff. Sells basic postal items. I had to review this place after seeing all the horrible reviews. I've never had a real problem here! I have always found parking, and have only experienced extremely long lines a few times. The lines I have been in moved relatively quickly. They sell basic envelopes and packaging. Usually there's at least three people working the counter. I also did my passport photo prep type stuff here. That went smoothly as well. Sometimes I have to pick up packages here when they can't be left at my door, and there is a separate window just for pick ups that goes pretty fast. I have yet to experience bad service here. Wow, this has to be one of the most pathetic government agency's there is, and the location on Santa Clara St. in Hayward takes the cake . With frequently damaged packages thrown on my porch (while the lowly mailman runs away) to misdelivered mail (also on a frequent base's) they actually rate less then a one, but I had to start somewhere. Today my sorry mailman ,(who often is seen lounging on a neighbors porch) advised me that I was not receiving my mail because my house "is quarantined",which it is not . Numerous attempts to call their local phone number (510-783-5963) yield no response . After trying to reach the Supervisor Ms. Tafolla, only to have the phone disconnect after approx.45 rings, I gave up and filed a complaint within the USPS website. When i do come here which isnt very offten i just dump my mail inside the post office and leave. Whether its just a package or just a couple of letters. I would never want to go here unless i absolutely have to. When we get in after it opened, we were told we needed a birth certificate. Now I'm pissed! What the Public doesn't know !! While my real issue is with the San Leandro Post Office for 94577 , 94578 and San Lorenzo 94580 , It really does matter where you go, post offices are all the same like DMV !! You may want to read this.. If you decided you want to rent a post office box, from a UPS store, Mail Box Ect they are called contractors for the United States Postal. What does that mean to you? Good questions. It means once you complete a change of address from your house to the post office box. According to the USPS rules and regulations, It means you will never have normal mail service at your home again... did I mention forever ! When you rent a post office box from a contractor, you fill out a change of address form at the post office which is required. When you attempt to change your mail delivery back to your home address. Most if not all of your mail will be sent back RETURN TO SENDER The post office will not delete the mail forward from the post office box back to your home. Incoming mail addressed to your home is flagged, re-routed to the post office box whice is closed. The contractor (UPS Store) blacks out your name and address, then is given back to the post office to return to sender ! I have spoken with 5 different supervisor at different post offices, Written to the investigations unit who refers me back to customer service where I started and it is all the same they can not fix the problem The contractor blames the USPS and the USPS blames the contractor and you get no assistance. I have recently written the Post Master General in Washing DC , I will see if I get a response to my hand written letter. read more

He get sick of our parking spots in our OWN house where we are authorized to park and says if you leave you car here, I won't deliver to you. Machines are supposed to be easier to navigate with, this is seriously worse! After 15 minutes talking to this broken machine, I get put on hold, to no one's surprise, 50 MINUTE WAIT TIME. What kind of communications they have, PIGEON CARRIER?! So I'm like let's go out and go there directly. I get there and guess what? There is no one there, like no customers!!!!!! I get my item which i requested 5 TIMES to get redelivered and it's just sitting in the back. Oh and another fun story. So I pay $5 for shipping an item and they want $38 to ship the item which this item was delivered for $5 a month ago. So I pay $15 and then they send it back YET AGAIN asking for $38 again! Great so I cancel the tracking and label and they REFUSE MY REFUND. For them sending it back to me over and over?! Worse USPS I have ever known. No wonder they are falling under! Two staff hadn't finished helping and answering my questions yet, but they already looked away and talked to other people waiting in line. I wish they could say, "do u have more questions? If U don't, I will help the next customer." When they talked to me, they didn't have eye contact with me. They knew there were more n more people coming in n tried to clear the waiting line, but they totally forgot about the service quality. If they provide good service, I don't mind waiting in line.
