The workers are straightforward and clear. If you're doing a passport application/renewal you have to make an appointment or LIMITED walk ins on Tuesday,Thursdays and Fridays from ONLY 9am-10am. If your doing walk in I highly suggest being there at9am. You will be last to be served but if more walk ins come after you, you will be served before them. I came on a Thursday around 1 pm to pick up my mail that wasn't delivered to my community mailbox. It wasn't super busy, but because this was late February, a few people were mailing off their taxes and holding up the line. They have a self-service machine that can help with printing postage for those with enveoples and packages to go. If you are only there to pick up mail, they do have a dedicated pick-up window for mail pick up with a bell on the left side. Overall what I expected from a USPS. I really want to emphasize the Passport Staff was really helpful friendly. They made sure every question was answered and every bit of information was appropriately documented. Unlike the other Post Offices, who thumb their noses at your questions and made it that much harder to get your Passport. I came in on Tuesday when the office was open for a little less than an hour. I lined up to pick up a package. The wait was considerably long, but I got some of the best help ever. The ladies were attentive and had a calm demeanor while assisting me. The main person to help me was a lady with blue frame glasses. My additional questions were answered and I was able to successfully able to pick up my package. This lady also helped at the same time as another customer (who had needed more help than I). I also learned that the main employee in the pickup package area was not present at the time, hence why there was a longer than usual line. I'm still impressed with how the ladies in this area of the office were able to do their best with assisting the customers. I may have come on a bad day, but I didn't feel any frustrations that other customers felt. read more

I have requested several mail holds, filled out proper cards, have done on line AND in person. THEY DID NOT HOLD MY MAIL. One request and they could not do this. I'm not asking for something out of the normal. Just a mail hold since we have mail thefts in the neighborhood. And they still delivered the mail. My partner is 85 and has dementia, so he doesn't travel well. I live with him and this morning I tried to pick up a package for him. The desk person told me I could not pick it up because I wasn't him. So I went back home, got him dressed, packed him in the car, presented him with two forms of id only to find out that I could have been given the package anyway because it didn't need to be signed for. He had no idea why he had to be there and was very upset about it. The lack of empathy displayed by the desk person was stunning. Bad customer service! Clerk took my letter and ended up being returned to me because "the to/from format was incorrect." We talked beforehand to confirm that the formatting was correct and she took my letter, so I assumed that everything was fine. Why tell me that the formatting was fine only to send it right back to me and tell me it was incorrect? Waste of $7 and time. If anybody notices something is off with your letter, you have to be responsible to take care of it yourself because you can't depend on the workers to really help you even if they point it out. I have felt welcome and been helped by a person in the maintenance department several times over the past few years. This employee is always polite, friendly, paying attention to his work, and has good energy and motivation. Sometimes , they have helped me by giving me information. Other times, this employee has helped me in a practical sense, like today. I couldn't open the door to an auxiliary box in the lobby. It seemed the key to it didn't fit. It took both of us perhaps 5 minutes , trying several things, to get the box open. Finally, the maintenance person got it open. Odd situation. I appreciated the help. Thank you for this employee. I send out 3 pieces of mail every week on average. Sometimes I drop off and sometimes I let the mailman pick up. In the past 6 months, I've had to file three missing mail requests. I get that this is the last stop before the Oakland hub. But this post office fails at doing initial scans. Without an initial scan, it is impossible to file for insurance claims. Since I work during the week and I can't get to the post office, this was one of the post offices in Hayward that was open on the weekend. I needed a money order and express mail services to pay a bill. And I got my money order, I waited maybe 5 minutes in line and was helped. Got the Priority Mail Envelope filled out the envelope and got back in line.... About 5 minutes again so that was great! Again I like how this was open on the weekend. The one on C street in Hayward was not , boohoo! Staff was very nice and there was someone there checking in on the line to see if anyone else needed help. So I hope this location continues to be open on Saturday as it's a great asset to the community. And also a great walk from Jackson Street to get your exercise. read more

I always dread going to the post office because I've had such bad experiences at the Emeryville location (where I mainly go to). However, I was pleasantly surprised how kind and helpful the USPS workers here were! I came in with a few items that I wanted to ship to a friend, and they recommended me several affordable options. I felt they really cared and didn't want me to waste my money. Instead of getting frustrated with my indecisiveness, they continued to smile and try to help me choose the right packaging. The line went fairly fast and I didn't feel I was waiting for very long (unlike the Emeryville location). The post office itself was clean and orderly. There is always issues whenever I go here. Specifically the ones that work the mail pick up and customers. It makes sense why their yelp review is low. Terrible service and zero sense of urgency. I feel like they are lazy if it's inconvenient for them to do something extra. I really dread coming here to do stuff. So, we came to this post office yesterday afternoon where very few people were in line and we were helped by Ms. Rosa! She took time to show us all the different stamps for sell. Loving stamps so much, it was difficult for us to make a decision, but she was very patience, as she helped both of us simultaneously with a smile on her face! (We could see it past the mask!) This post office is a fucking joke.. carrier lost my package and didn't deliver it marked it as delivery, so I filed a claim for missing package, a young lady had a called me on the phone and told me she will follow up with the carrier, a whole week goes by and I still haven't heard anything so I happen to show up to the post office to follow up and I talked to two ladies who says they will check their with mail person to see what happened just so happens the person who usually delivers to my apartments he was on vacation and the one who was taking his place didn't have it, therefore it was nothing that could be done then the lady proceeds to say I can file a claim online, I didn't want to waste my time cause I didn't receive my package and by this point it's been a whole damn month so I file a claim and guess what I get a letter In the mail that says that my claim is being denied cause it's shown it was delivered on the date it was supposed which it WASNT, if you can, if you have any packages that's being delivered from this post office GO PICK YOUR SHIT UP CAUSE THEY WILL LOSE IT! The absolute worst almost every time I've ordered a package and had it delivered via USPS I've had issues as soon as the tracking reaches its destination at this post office. Today again i had another issue where i was lied to and my alert said there was a delivery attempted when there clearly wasnt. I swear there is something shady going on at this post office and I dont trust them with deliveries at all. Once again I'm going to have to pick up up YET AGAIN ANOTHER PACKAGE from the post office itself because they can't even do there jobs and deliver my package to the right place. How are you going to lie and say an attempted delivery was made when i was waiting here the whole time. So not only are you messing up my deliveries but now you're lying really? I get nervous every time a shipper uses USPS to deliver my packages because i know eventually it'll go to the Hayward post office where who knows where it'll end up. Worst part is my neighbor has had the same issues so i know its not just me. He's had to file claims on lost items. Pull it together guys i shouldn't have to pick up my packages at the post office because its your job to deliver them. Problem is if i don't pick it up front the actual post office tomorrow that leaves them mpre time to make more excuses and time to find a way to lose my package. I obviously can't reschedule another drop off because we already know what can happen if i do that. Really? A review for USPS? I don't even know why I bother writing a review for a government agency. They are not a corporation so there is no customer service and no customer complaints. If everything falls in your favor, everything would go easy and smooth. Unfortunately, that's not the case all the time. The workers do not care and just want the benefits from a government job. They do not go an extra mile to serve the people in the community. The extra star is for the self-service kiosk. Thank you for keeping it working whenever I need. I try my best to limit my interaction with any USPS workers because I will get so frustrated with them. The capacity of the workers behind the counter is package drop off and stamps purchases; anything beyond that - it is a disaster and frustration! They all work in slow motion. When you ask to speak to the supervisor or manager, they don't always show up. My recent experience with a human there was to pick up a package with a pink slip. I came to pick up the package as written. The lady couldn't locate the package or provide any reason why the package could not be found. She asked for my name and phone number and told me that I would be contacted by the end of the day about the package. I acknowledged and left because I didn't want to waste any time or energy to investigate or interrogate her because she didn't seem to be helpful. Of course I didn't get any call from the post office. As expected, so not going to trip about it. I went back the next day and hoped for a better luck. I got my package. ~~Hallelujah~~~~~ And when I got home at night after the first attempt at the post office, there was another pink slip for another attempted delivery.
