I never post reviews, but this postal experience merits one. If it were possible to grade this place a zero, I would. Some of the most poorly prepared employees in the world! Trained monkeys could do a better job. Most of the time I limit my inactions with the Post Office to their kiosk in the lobby. Today, I needed to mail a box but unfortunately the kiosk was not generating postage for packages today. So had to deal with one of their customer representatives. OH BOY! The Postal Employee was either unwilling or did know how to generate the same type of label that the kiosk in the lobby did. The kiosk in the lobby generated a label with the intended address, just the same type that Amazon, Nike, and Macys use. The postal representative said it wasn't good enough. I said, ok and asked why not. The postal employee could not provide an answer, so I decided to use UPS. Post Office you need to do a much better job. read more

I just moved to Chula Vista from Serra Mesa. The usps at Serra Mesa on greyling dr (Francisco) had amazing customer service and very helpful. When I saw that a package arrived at Serra Mesa usps I was always able to pick up same day. I went today to my new usps location in Chula Vista and was given nothing but excuses by a manager at the "package pick up" area. I was told that they have 20k packages and it would be impossible to locate. Not even willing to try to make an attempt to find my package, use the computer, going in the back, just excuses and a flat out no sorry. It is blatantly clear on people who want to help and people who don't want to help. My hat goes off to the Serra Mesa usps for making it clear on great customer service and a big thumbs down to the Chula Vista usps! read more

I own a business that I need to use the post office daily, even though I don't live near this one I always drop off my orders here. They always listen to my concerns and work with me to resolve any issues. Monica is exceptionally helpful, goes above and beyond what an employee needs to do, she has been a lifesaver for me and my business. This is my livelihood and without Monica's help things would be more difficult. No words can express how grateful for her help in getting my packages scanned, which is critical for my business. I have to say that for a Post Office the staff in there are pretty darn cheerful, friendly, and just sweet! All of those ladies working at the Post Office handling all your mail requests have a great attitude! They smile at ya, make conversation, they don't look at ya like they wanna snap your head off, or that they hate their job. (I've seen some bitter, angry postal workers in my day). I go in there frequently during the week and each and every time I have been there I have had a nice experience. In my line of business I have to deal with local Post Offices. Day one, I called this Post office and spoke with Rueben, he seemed nice and gave me the information that I needed. Later on that day, I called.....waited on hold for 20 minutes...I needed to get to a meeting, so I hung up and tried calling back after my meeting. Called back.....got a busy signal......20 minutes later, I called again, received a busy signal....10 minutes later, called again and received a busy signal....called again an hour later, received a busy signal....called again 10 minutes later, received a busy signal...called again, and again and again...received a busy signal. It was as if the business had taken the phone off the hook. There was a busy signal up until the close of business. It's no wonder why the Postal Service is going out of business. I could not move forward in my own line of work, until I spoke with someone at that location about one of my clients mail being held. It seems that this location is obsolete and should save money by closing the location and annexing it services out to a more competent location. This location is a complete money sucking vacuum that does not provide any services. If you live within the routes of this location, I am sorry, they are probably stealing your mail or they will deliver your mail sometime with the month. read more

Missed a package being delivered that apparently required signature. Usually I only use the automated machine because there is ALWAYS a line at the counter. Ran into a couple things that rubbed me wrong: 1) The missed package slip says they close at 530pm. I got there at 450pm and they were already closing up. At 5pm, they locked all the doors. Even the website and Yelp! both state 530pm vs 5pm. . 2) heard the manager/supervisor try to blame her bad attitude and crappy customer service on "short person syndrome" 3) my package specifically calls for signature confirmation (hence the reason I'm even at the post office), and they didn't have me sign anything 4) the woman working the package pick up line was outside talking to someone rather the helping the 4 people waiting on her. I get the impression that customer service isn't their high point. I think my mail man has been evidence enough of that in many cases not stated here. All around they could use some help. read more

Very convenient post office location. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Never had a bad experience here. There is even an automated postal machine, or you can buy stamps and mail those packages and letters. Very convenient and centrally located. read more

I've only been to this post office a couple of times, the most recent was right before the holidays (yes, when everyone and their mother's brother was there to send or pick up packages). The line was really long, but one of the workers was walking down the line to give assistance even before customers made their way to the front, so that was nice. Staff has always been friendly and helpful so I never end up minding the wait all that much anyway. Parking, though? Atrocious. The worst ever. Impossible if you're trying to run in "real quick" during lunch. read more

This is the least competent post office I have ever had to use!!! I hand delivered a key to our security door and it was immediately lost!! I called them and it was NEVER found nor did I get any kind of response!! So I then gave them a security code and they still can't deliver our mail? I'm filling a formal complaint!! I don't usually vent on the internet and I am a very cheerful individual, but I left here pretty annoyed. I almost gave them the benefit of the doubt in that maybe it was a bad day, but then I read the reviews and it looks like it's pretty standard business here. So here's my small tale. Entered 15 minutes before closing on a Friday, (bad idea) and the line was almost out the door. I didn't move for about 6 minutes and then I heard a customer scold what seemed like the manager, "Why are you closing lines when you have so many people still waiting?" I smiled while waiting for a response. "You don't make those decisions, we're going to..." bla bla bla, didn't get the rest but it was all with a sharp tone.Then I heard more sharpness come from a customer and a cashier but couldn't gather why. Then I heard a guy get into it with the security guard trying to get in after the doors closes and by this point I felt like I was in some sort of coo-coo bin. I planned on telling my cashier in a humorous way "Everyone's so hostile today, huh??" Then I arrived to my cashier, after maybe 15-18 minutes of waiting. I had one small box (size of two shoe boxes) and a paper package for clothes with a t shirt inside, neither of them sealed. Each needed a small strip of tape to close up, so she says to me in a very robotic voice that sounded scripted "Umm.. I see you don't have your packages sealed, we sell tape right here for $3.95 please step out of the line, seal them u..." "Can I borrow some of the tape you have right there? I only need two strips to..." "We sell tape right here for $3.95, please step out of the..." No, nope, I'm outta here." So I stepped out of the line and walked out the door mumbling obscenities under my breath and I immediately realized where all that hostility towards them was coming from. Although $3.95 isn't a big deal, I needed .001 cents worth of tape. We need to be human once in a while. Yeah, maybe it's the company's policy to force the customer to buy some tape, but if we can't make our own decisions, we might as well have robots taking over cashier's jobs and have those soulless machines point a red light arrow point at the tape when requesting a strip. Sidenote: I went to my nearby Fedex after this experience with the same situation and the guy took my packages and taped them up without asking. I told him my story and he said he'd heard that before. read more

This place has its days. Half of the people are nice and the other half just hate their job and need to retire.

This place is only good because it has an after hours lobby and mail slot big enough for boxes, but do not ship from here unless you want mail lost, stolen, or guaranteed three to five days of unexplained delay. On the phone they say it's because it goes to another sorting location or "because it's a county post office, not a town post office" or "because your return address says San Ysidro" is why there's no tracking updates for almost a week. Other post office clerks laughed at these explanations. Also, these have to be the most disgruntled postal workers in all of San Diego County. Even the ones at the San Ysidro border post office don't talk down to people like this. read more

Tl;dr: They don't pay attention to hold mail requests, terrible customer service. I had to travel out of country, so I put a hold mail request in. A package was on the way, the post office disregarded the hold mail request, and left the package at the front door of my apartment where it would have waited for two weeks had it not been stolen. The post office admitted the mistake and told me there is nothing they can do, so I filed a claim. Same result. They just told me to have the shipper send another. Then they closed my claim. This is an absolutely asinine response and shows total lack of responsibility and ownership. read more

Every time I order from one of my favorite stores in the area, they drop it off here to be "delivered". it takes 3-5 days after receiving the package before they even decide to ship it out. I am a 2 hour drive away, why does it take over a week for a package to be delivered? Staff accordingly or time manage better. People relay on you to do your job effectively and efficiently. read more

Literally made a yelp to let everyone know this post office is the most unproffesional place of buisness i've ever come across , the line is always busy called atleast 50+ times during buisness hours for the last 3 days. Supervisor Maricar was extremely rude and inconsiderate when it came down to questions I had regarding my po box at the location 750 3rd Ave, Chula Vista. Not only would she not listen to my concerns, but made me stand in line again so that someone else could assist. What is the point of standing in line to begin with and what is the point of a supervisor role if you are not going to try to assist or guide to an answer or options. Terrible customer service. It's unbelievable that we have such bad delivery system in this ZIP 91910 I do most my shopping online. ! I will have packages tracked to the post office stating they have been delivered: after a month later they still are not here. I have even received small packages that appear to to be opened and then resealed. If I could give this place zero starts I would! Not only are they always short staffed (the most cashiers I've seen were 2) and in a crappy mood, but they don't check identification when picking up a package! I went to pick up a package because I received a note on my door stating that since I wasn't home it was ready for me to pick up at this location. Upon arrival no one could find the package. 10 minutes later, the lady helping me comes back and says "oh you picked it up yesterday, it says right here." #1. I didn't pick it up #2. How did someone pick up a package without showing ID? My name isn't common at all, there's no way! #3. They didn't have a tracking number to show either. After speaking to a supervisor, she let me know that I could file a refund claim. Little did I know they were not refunding what I spent, just shipping, which was $3. Finally, they let me know I wouldn't even get that back. That they were sorry and it was a mistake and there was nothing they could do, but I could call the store I made the purchase from and see if they could give me my money back. I know this is a place where people are employed by the government, and it is not likely the employers will look at it and make change...and also I would like to add that this particular comment is not in reference to this particular post office on 3rd only, but to both...and mainly to the one on Oxford St. in Chula Vista between 4th and 3rd. I am writing it here simply because the other address doesn't have a yelp page. So here goes: First and foremost, every single time I walk into the oxford street one (I RARELY ever go to the 3rd avenue one) the line is out the door and moves as slow as Christmas. There are always two ladies there. A blonde haired lady and an Asian lady, both middle-aged who talk very rudely to many customers, get off topic, and take far too long to take care of one person, and then in addition to this, are always bickering with each other. Like they are always trying to one-up the other or getting upset because they felt disrespected. They both have a superiority complex for sure. Secondly, I do not know who runs the mail to the residents from this place, the only thing I can say is that I never have a problem getting my bills, but ALWAYS ....and I do mean ALWAYS have a problem getting any packages. Whether it be something I order online through a store or through Ebay or anywhere that uses USPS, it never makes it to my box. Maybe once or twice it has. However I can tell you that I have gotten packages weeks later from my office manager at my apartment complex because some random person who happened to be honest that day turned it in when it turned up in their box. And there have been some times that they never turned up at all, even though tracking says it has been delivered, probably because the person who's box they stuck it in happened to not be such an honest person that day. In this case, I visited family in Georgia with my children this past week for Christmas. My children were mainly given money or gift cards cause I told everyone the issue with receiving mail, but I, however, got a box of picture frames and a picture frame collage filled with sentimental photos of my family and I. There was no way to board the plane with these so I had them mailed to myself. Tracking says they were delivered this past Saturday and it is now Wednesday of the following week. Not only this, but my children's grandmother on their dad's side bought them both Nintendo 3DS games and had them mailed here. Tracking says it was delivered Friday, and again...it's the following Wednesday. What happens when you notify them of the missing package? They take a name and number and leave a message. The last time they did that, they didn't call back until two weeks later. By that time I got a refund from the seller, and the package still never showed up and the issue was never resolved by the USPS...they literally just called to ask me "Did you get your package yet that you called about a few days ago?" ...really? more like weeks ago. -___- Now I am calling back because the picture collage my sister made me for Christmas that was mailed is irreplaceable and the others were purchased by others. I am actually writing this comment as I am on the phone with them as a matter of fact. Want to know how long I have been on the phone waiting for a representative? 1 hour 16 mins and 42 seconds. -_____- Insanely ridiculous. Just a bonus for you: I actually got mail on both Friday and Saturday. All the mail I got that day had my name clearly written and my address as well. How do you put that much mail in the right box and just so happen to leave out the packages with the SAME EXACT NAME AND ADDRESS on them ???!!! And then mark it as delivered. Either it got put in the wrong box and some dishonest person took it for themselves...or maybe they haven't checked the mail...idk OOOOORRRRRR....someone from the post office is stealing packages because this happens like I said.....EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.I.ORDER.A.PACKAGE. What gets me is that my tax dollars pay for this seriously incompetent service, and I hear and see people complaining about government programs all the time when it comes to aid for the less fortunate and what not. I am seriously wondering why we haven't demanded the government hire more competent employees to carry out the job duties of their mail service. I would like to add, that I am a server. I deal with the public on the regular. I understand there are frustrating days and that people are human and DO make mistakes. I'd like to put zero stars if i could. I was expecting a package this afternoon after receiving confirmation that it was delivered at noon today. Low and behold no package was found at my door step. As has been said in so many reviews, one star is too much! It was great up until now with minor problems such as surly customers, long lines, not enough people and a few grouchy clerks. The reason for one star actually started on the 4th of this month. We knew we were going away for a few days, and put a mail hold starting on the 7th and ending on the 10th. Before we left, I saw a package had been left at a parcel box but we didn't have a key to get into it. I didn't know another package was delivered at the same time because Amazon Prime doesn't send me notifications to my email address. On the 7th, I saw that the package was delivered on the 4th of November, and, as stated, no key was left in our main box. Called the PO and they said the package was delivered. Really?????? An investigation was started (laughing hysterically) and it said it would be redelivered. Ok. Back to reality on the 9th. NO packages were in our box, BUT there was mail, so, the mail hold was a joke. Called the Chula Vista PO, Jester said, good news and bad news: the mail that was in the boxes WAS taken out and back to the PO. Confused yet? So far, the key was never left, the mail hold wasn't actually honored, mail that was delivered was taken back. Jester promised me that the mail they had was going to be delivered on the 10th personally to our door. Uh....didn't happen. Called them again, they never answered. Called the 1-800-ASK-USPS, and of course had to go through the whole thing again. Got a case #. Today, it's Veteran's Day. Not open. So, the delivery that I was made on the 4th minus the key is now going to be able to be either picked up or delivered on the 13th. That is 9 days (7 days counting work days) that my items were not delivered. Customer service? If you consider being told one story and it's not true ok, then you have a very warped sense that the PO is doing their job. read more

If I could give this post office NO stars I would! Had a package go out for delivery on December 9th...no further tracking updates after that. Been trying for a week to get a hold of someone in this office. Had to call the main 800 number and file a case. What do they do??? Give me the phone number to this post office! Either the phone is always busy or just rings and rings! Finally spoke to the route supervisor for my area yesterday and he was going to investigate and call me back in 30 minutes. 24 hours later, still haven't heard from him and once again...STILL can't get ahold of anybody!
