This post office is kept rather clean and is organized at most times of the year, minus the holiday season. While there can be long lines here on weekends and near closing, I have found that this is the post office to visit when sending out packages. Compared to the Artesia location it is much newer and bigger, but still operates on a small staff. There's also a guy here who seriously has a long beard, and I've been seeing him there since I was a kid. The beard just grows longer. I'd say to come here if you're nearby, have some time during your lunch break or otherwise, or are a local. They surely beat other postal service prices. read more

They have a self-service kiosk here that works during business hours when you don't need it. The point of the kiosk is so you can mail things or buy stamps after hours. I've gone in after hours at least 10 times in the past year and, with one exception, it greets me with a screen saying the kiosk is unavailable due to daily maintenance. I have come in at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm...never working. Hello, USPS, wonder why you are losing billions every year? Because your service sucks the BIG ONE! read more

Okay, it's just a post office right? Nothing special. I'd have to agree with you for the most part, but if you're in the Cerritos, Artesia, La Palma area. Definitely use this post office rather than the others nearby. This location is a little bigger than the one on 183rd closer to the mall. Not much but just a little. The parking is a whole lot better as well. A ton better. The employees are actually nice and very helpful. The wait time is not too bad, but it's the post office. It's not quick either. There's a gentleman there with a really long beard that is always super friendly and helpful. He'll give you all the best rates and let you choose. I always hope to get him in the roulette wheel of employees. The biggest reason I like this place the best is because I've never had a problem with a shipped package that originated from here. Other post offices have missed the departure scan and that can be frustrating. This place has 100% accuracy for my packages. It makes t so much easier for me when I'm not wondering if they lost my package. Other post offices in the area have missed the scans and when you ask them about it, they blow you off and usually with a bad attitude. Can you say defensive? If you're in the area. DUDE. I love this post office. Why? Because it remains unlocked at pretty every hour of the day and night. This allows me to use the automated postal machine (APC) at any time, day or night. Also, if I purchase my postage online, I can just drop off my parcel in the giant parcel drop at any hour, I have dropped many a parcel here in the wee hours. Hooray! It also has (or at least used to have) an actual stamp machine (the kind that gives you gold coins). The service desk is usually fully staffed and they have the "drive-thru" type mail boxes. The early closing time 4:30pm? Yikes! It didn't used to be so bad several years ago, if I remember correctly, but budget cuts, man, budget cuts. Still the greatest thing about it remains the fact that it is unlocked at all hours...you could live in this post office, you could get it on in this post office! Very convenient place to drop off your mail since they have 3 big mail boxes outside in the parking lot where you can "drive-thru" and drop off your mail without leaving your car. They also sell stamps through self-service kiosks and have an ample amount of P.O. boxes. One thing that I don't like is that it appears that the Post Office in Artesia (on 183rd, across from Diho market) is the "headquarters" for mail for Cerritos residents. This means that if you go on vacation and put your mail on "hold", then you have to go to the Artesia P.O. to pick it up. What a bummer that I have to drive to the narrow and park-less streets of Artesia to pick up my mail! Oh well, still giving this a 5 star since it's easy and convenient enough for me to send my mail through this place. And Mike, please don't let one bad employee ruin your opinion on this place. I think that employee was just being utterly careful in ensuring that your package gets to its destination safely and on time. Maybe in her mind, she was doing the best job she can. read more

What the hell kind of post office is this? They lock all the self service Station and post office doors after hours and have locks on all the outdoor mail boxes so you cannot even so much as buy stamps at the machines or drop a stamped envelope in the mail unless you go inside and stand in line during business hours which are posted according to the door 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday only? No Saturday hours at all? No wonder the world went away from using the mail as a means of communication! Would give zero stars if I could! Forced to mail my package at my work outgoing mail because I can't put it in the mailbox on my way to work! Insanity at its finest! Don't get me wrong... The staff here gets a five star... The crowd here gets a one star.. Equals 3 stars... Every time you come here, the line is out the door to get to the counter. The reason for this seems to be a, there is a shortage of personnel behind the counter... I get that. Obviously, the federal government is cutting corners and this in no way reflects on the competency and friendliness of the staff here... They are great . B, it seems like 95% of the people here that stand in line have no idea what it is they are trying to do... This seems crazy to me as most of these folks are well into their adult years and even though many of them are foreign, it seems that every one of them is making their first trip to the post office every time I am here... And that is a lot of times... When you have two or three people behind the counter, and every single customer needs step by step guidance all the way down to filling out the simplest forms, then this is what makes for crazy long lines and 20 minute waits... The other thing this place has a lot of, is bulk mailers... Beware of those people in line with white crates filled with envelopes... This Post Office used to be so nice but since 2016 they have locked it down every night after 5:30 and on weekends. I cannot access my PO Box unless I take off from work early. And now they have padlocks on all the outside mailboxes! What's the point of having a drive-up mailbox if you can't use it? Is vandalism in this area really that bad? So sad. This business of locking the lobby was supposed to be temporary while they improved security. But now it's been over two years and still no change. I may have to close my PO Box and move it elsewhere since I can't access my mail during hours that are convenient to me. read more

The staff here are extremely friendly and courteous. The facility is clean and the grounds are always manicured. My only complaints are the lines are always long. They have four windows but there are normally just two clerks helping customers. The other beef is access to the post office boxes are restricted to day time hours only. There is no way to mail a letter at this post office when they aren't open. They lock all of the outside boxes when the lobby isn't open. They removed most of the blue boxes in the surrounding neighborhoods, so you have to take any letters you want to mail to that post office. And you have to take them there when the post office is actually open. If you have a day job..tough luck! This morning at 7AM six people were trying to find a box to mail their ballots on the way to work, and they were all locked. read more

I've been going to the post office on Carmenita Road in Cerritos for years and I used to loved it. (The man with the long beard is my favorite because he is the kindest and most knowledgeable at that office. He also keeps things professional. No bullshit). Yesterday, however, I had an awkward experience dealing with another clerk, the elderly Caucasien lady who, when you are facing the counter, she operates out of the far left side. I believe she is identified as Clerk #7 (according to the info on my receipt). I was mailing 4 boxes. She only took one of the boxes and told me I'd have to repack the other three boxes because I supposedly used the wrong boxes. They were not the wrong boxes but this lady insisted I should use another type of box. She got me some samples of what she thought I should be using and slapped them on top of the counter one by one. Then she said, "You're supposed to order them yourself online!" She was loud and everyone could hear. I didn't want to make things worse (believe me, I have no problem making a scene!) but I thought it be best for me to stay professional. So, I just maintained my cool by staying upbeat and not letting her trigger me. Finally, when she was done bitching about the boxes I used, I took the 3 remaining boxes and left. After that, I went straight to another post office nearby on 183rd Street in Artesia. The line was longer but worth the wait. When it was finally my turn to go up to the counter, I brought my 3 boxes and put them on the counter. The clerk (Clerk #17) was so kind and welcoming. She took my boxes, scanned them with no questions asked, and gave me a receipt. She even said, "Thank you! Have a nice day!" Straight, simple, and courteous the way it should be. Anyway, I will just go to this post office (183rd St. in Artesia) from now onward. I will not be going to the Carmenita post office if I can help it. If I do go there, I will not deal with Clerk #7 ever again. What a bite-in-the-ass! It's not worth the hassle! read more

EVERY PACKAGE FROM UPS HAS BEEN DAMAGED (as well as from FedEx). Luckily, the items inside have escaped damage because of the sellers packaging, not due to the poor handling. Packages must not be squeezed into spaces that are too small for it, thrown onto porches (I have a video) or placed wrong side up. This season has been the worst. What are we paying for. read more

Never drop your mail in the outside mail box, my mail got fished out one night and some checks were stolen. I walked inside to inform the postal workers about what happened and all they said to me was bring your mail inside next time and use the drop box. The lobby closes early so that is impossible if you work and want to drop off at night. I've been hearing from others that this has been going on for a awhile and this post office does nothing, poor lighting and no cameras around the outside mail box. This is the slowest post office I've ever visited. I've been here more than a few times. I thought well maybe today is busy. This is every day! The workers are nice but slow as molasses! I think driving further to another location may be faster. Last week there was 4 people in front of me and I waited for 45 minutes! I listened to see what was taking so long. Everyone was sending 1 piece regular mail except 1 person sent certified and needed a signature. Today I was in the 5 people ahead of me and I was in line 43 minutes. Ridiculous!! I came in with this bulky box with masking tape on it, and she taped it up with her cellophane tape so I wouldn't have the box falling apart by the time it reached Kansas. I was at the Cerritos Post Office to RENEW a passport by mailing it out to Philadelphia. I picked up the proper blue renewal form and completely filled it out. I stood in line and waited till a tall gentleman with a very long beard called me over. I told him that I was here to renew my passport and he immediately told me "we don't do that here". I was a bit shocked because the post office carries the renewal form yet they don't allow you to mail it out from there? He told me I needed to have an appointment to renew it. I rushed quickly to the Artesia post office where they helped me mail my renewal with no issues. All I needed to do was pack my passport in an express mail envelope with my completed form plus my payment, that's it. I didn't need to have an appointment or see someone special. The workers in Artesia were shocked that "The Beard" turned me away. You guys in Cerritos need to retrain that guy so he doesn't waste anyone else's time. read more

This post office seriously sucks. The employees are never helpful and being that I have a complicated work schedule, I have a PO Box so I can access my mail whenever I need. How does this location have 4 stars? Each time I go to this location, average waiting time in line is 20-25 minutes, service is slow, and the staff members are rude. You guys mis-routed my package. Supposed to be from CA to HI except you sent it to GUAM and now I won't get it in time for my trip. So far it's been delayed a week (plus the 3 days I already waited after it shipped) and still stuck in GUAM plus I can't even call you because I keep getting a busy signal. I can't track it because USPS tracking doesn't give any info except "arrived here, on it's way to there" I was told by the 800 number service that now because you sent it to GUAM it will take even longer because it will have to go through customs to get back into the US. This would have never happened if whoever sorted it could read or at least paid attention to what they were doing. And by the way it happened to 2 of my packages, not just one. You guys suck. What are the employees doing there anyway? How do you route it to GUAM? The extra delay due to customs is really frustrating because it shouldn't have been like that all. read more
