This is the Artesia one, with the small parking lot. Got packed real quick, but the manager or head guy or time saver as I like to call him was sorting people out at the front. I just needed to get a new mailbox key for our condo so luckily I didn't have to wait more than 5 mins in line until the guy up front started walking up and down the line. He got to me and went and got the key in like a minute and I was out of there. I've been here before and its a pretty busy place. The postal service is refusing to deliver the mail because there was a dog complaint at the other end of the block. So now to receive mail we have to go into the post office, which is the most poorly ran post office I have ever seen. There's a line out the door because of how nonchalant and slow they are. I had to show my ID and a previous envelope addressed to me in order to get my mail, for which the clerk, Maria, took out of my hands without my permission and then took out of my sight to her "supervisor," for a period of no less than 10 mins. This is shockingly unethical. I then had to plea in order to get my ID and mail to the supervisor who was extremely rude and said "I'll give it to you when I'm ready." I am not only shocked at the unethical and rude behavior, but the levels of complete disregard for common sense. Not only are they refusing service, they are forcing me to come in to their office for a reason that does not have to do with me or my address, give them my ID and then without explanation or consent, take it behind closed doors for an unsettlingly long time, again without my permission, and then when I ask for it back I get met with extremely grotesque attitude. I visited this location yesterday at 10:40am. The agent clerk #11 was tremendously slow with two customers. I was there for about 20 minutes. He was having extended conversations and did not apologize to customers for the long wait. Once I walked up to the register he looked at me with an angry face and was rushing me through my process of purchasing a priority mail envelope. He spoke very fast with a thick accent and kept reiterating what I physically saw as prompts on the card reader device. He made me feel uncomfortable. The clerk was possibly Asian, Chinese or Korean. 5"6 male around the ages of 50 +. The clerk was extremely conversational and friendly with the previous customers, but when I walked up his demeanor changed drastically. read more

I came in to send a package. I did not have a box to put my item in and when I went to ask about prices, a "older" woman employee told me to go look for it myself. After choosing my box, I asked if I could use the tape really quickly and she said "no, that I need to come back after I've taped it myself." After going back home to package my box myself, I went to deliver and watched her help someone else package their item and tape all visible openings with their own tape. I don't want to say I was racially profiled but I did not need her to make me stupid for asking for basic assistance. read more

This post office has some real crooks. They stole a package that I did not get a receipt for for the SECOND time. Guaranteed someone stole it because I have always scanned my packages for a receipt without issue, with the exception of that time when I didn't have time to wait in line and get a receipt for this one either, which was the same situation as the first package they had "lost" (which never made it to any scans or facilities, btw). Went in a few days later to confront about the issue and they acted like they never recognized me in their life, asking which post office I go to and where I come from, even though I am a frequent customer there (as I often sell items online) and they ACKNOWLEDGED that. I am now out a package and am trying to get some kind of support and reimbursement with Depop. Too bad they do not work with other couriers that would hold some kind of intregrity in their provided services. Don't come here if you are looking for reliable service where thieves aren't handling your packages. This post office is a piece of crap the least to say. I have a P.O. Box here and it's always been a mess receiving my packages as they never can organize them correctly and constantly have to look for them in the back. Furthermore, today has been my final straw with this shady post office. They literally put a key in my P.O. Box for one of the bins in the back to get my package, and literally put someone else's stuff in there and 2 of my packages have been lost and they have no idea where they're at. The worst person at this post office is Sam, the guy acts like he's above everybody and wants to talk down on you and doesn't like when he gets confronted about his customer service and management skills. He literally responds to me saying 'well I don't have your package what do you want me to do' like how unprofessional are you to even say that ? I told him I pay for a P.O. I did not like the service here. I immediately asked for help when I came in because I had no idea what to do in order to deliver a package. (Something I've never done before at a USPS, always gone to UPS). However, I did come prepared with my item that needed to be delivered and my labels were already printed. I got a random box, asked the African lady for help and she told me to remove the plastics from it to use as tapes. I did tell her I have all my items with me hoping she can assist me on putting it together for me but she seemed annoyed when I asked for her help. I have no idea how secure my box is, and I really hope the way I put the box together holds. I did show it to the other short lady that works there and she said it should be fine. When I went ahead and purchased the box turns out my shipment was labeled as priority and I didn't need to pay for a box. LIKE REALLY? So I asked her if she can waive the price since that was not my fault especially when I asked for help when I came in. Apparently she spoke to the manager and he or she refused to waive $4. Really? My whole confusion of selecting a box and putting the box together and everything could have been prevented if they actually did their job by helping me when I asked. UPS is so much better because they can do everything for you, but for this package I had no choice but to come to a USPS. Staff needs to be more helpful when we need it. Not everyone knows what to do especially when it's the first time sending out a package. Could have saved me a headache and $4 if I got the help when I asked. read more

Id come to this Post office location sometimes when I lived in Cypress. Its a small location, but it is almost always crowded at this location. Parking lot is pretty spacious. People here are real professional and work very hard in getting you packages delivered. But its a wonderful place I recommend for anyone. read more

Ive met different usps workers across the country and most of them are unfriendly but the short hair lady with glasses is the worst usps employee Ive ever met. She is always angry, rude, and does not want to help out. Every time I ask something she would play dumb not wanting to help out. Most of the time she would tell me to go back home to do the work she was suppose to do but when I get different employee I get things worked out perfectly fine. Oopsies - what happened to the self service weighing scale? I had a larger sized envelope and only four stamps on hand, so I needed to know how many this was taking. They also aren't open till 9:00 am, but as soon as that window in the lobby was opened to another customer (Apple Store- i heard the man say), I quickly asked the postal lady inside how many stamps the parcel needed. I had a package returned to sender due to insufficient/incorrect address. Called and spoke with Laneisha. First of all I've had numerous encounter with different USPS branches and either they put you on hold forever or doesn't even answer. However, my experience with Laneisha was nothing but great. She looked in my issue and tried to resolved it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this 2 star rated doesn't not reflect all employees. I paid for Priority Mail Express with tracking ($70). They said guaranteed should arrive in Philippines within 5 business days. My envelope stayed in Los Angeles County for 18 days. Yes, the lines can be long. Yes, it is often slow. But really, it's not their fault. Some people don't know what box they want, if they want first class mail, do they want it certified, etc. I am often one of those people. The workers are great- helpful, patient, knowledgeable. They've helped me understand things countless times, and never once have I been rushed or given I get attitude. It's pleasant there. Came here to mail a package and some envelopes and the manager was trying to decrease the line by asking what we were there for and efficiently helping. The line was gone so quickly! Then the line came back with new customers and they opened a new kiosk. It was efficient and the workers knew what they were doing. No real complaints! Just a good working post office. read more

I will give one star because I can not rate less! I was sent by a mail woman to this office since the package (first class) was too heavy. We were sent to this location on a Saturday before 3, we knew the front desk will be closed. We were told to speak to the supervisor and be able to retrieve our package. This lady was giving us attitude telling that she would not give us the package out of business hours even when the package was right there. The point is not the package but the attitude. At any moment we insisted, we told them that we understand and than we would return on Monday, and this unfortunate lady didn't even say bye. This is actually the central post office for this region of southeast Los Angeles. And if you ever have the misfortune of trying to beat the clock here (they close the doors promptly at 5pm on weekdays), you'll realize that truth right away. People try to barge their way in and at least have a spot in line before the doors are closed at 5pm on a weekday. If you're at the tail end of the line, and even if you're "outside" the doors, they'll at least let you curve the end of the line in such a way so they can still get the doors closed behind you. It's nice of the staff to let you stay in line even after 5pm, but I've seen so many people plead to let them reopen the doors to get their urgent package in, especially if these poor souls just missed the cut-off by mere seconds. That pitiful sight is truly one of the most heart-wrenching things you'll see in your day, especially if it's near the holiday season and people have loved ones on the receiving end affected. The fundamental problem here is that most honest-to-goodness working people don't even get out until around 5pm on Mondays through Friday, so it makes perfect sense that people would rush here (or to any post office, for that matter) immediately after work and that there would be an end-of-day rush. Given this reality, I would hope that this post office, and all post offices really, would consider keeping the doors open another hour or two after the traditional end of the workday. If post offices closed at 6pm, there would be a tremendous appreciation by the many who normally get out of work at 5pm, I'm sure. I would rather the post office open an hour later in the day, if it means that they can stay open until 6pm. I suppose one can alway try to buy their stamps or get postage/certificates during their lunch hour, but honestly, nobody wants to spend their lunch hours waiting in a DMV-ish line. Lunch hour should be spent eating lunch and not playing roulette as to whether or not you'll be able to get your package processed timely in your 30-minute break. Though there is increasingly more self-service for postage and drop-off, it's only one minor solution to a much bigger issue: which is that the work day ends at the same time as the post office normal business hours. The Artesia Post Office is actually a central hub for mail in this part of SELACO. It's where I had my mail re-routed for pickup when I was replacing my mailbox a few years ago, because it's where the mail from outside the region ends up first, before going to smaller substation and outposts later in the day for direct mail distribution to my address. Despite being a central hub, unfortunately, there isn't even enough parking to support this reality. Even if the existing parking were to be tripled, it would not be enough to accommodate the rush of people trying to get their last minute issues with mailing resolved. The congestion that results on 183rd Street here is ridiculous. FOR A POST OFFICE! Honestly! Street parking is limited, and is, frankly, something that shouldn't even be on the table when talking about going into a post office for routine mail processing. Despite all these problems, I'm glad the staff is at least helpful and will try to identify people's issues while they are in line, to try and see if it's a "quick hit" and something that can be resolved right away and get them about the rest of their day. Given that the Christmas season is also a busy time of the year for the Post Office, this extra courtesy goes a long way in helping get people out of the line right away. It worked for me on my last visit a couple days ago. As the Stamps.com commercial testimonial claims: "There's nothing worse than standing in line at the post office." I didn't realize how true those words would be until I came here during the holidays. I now totally concur. read more

This review is for the Caucasian woman working the stall furthest to the left of the entrance at 1130AM, on November 17, 2014. I was tracking a package that wasn't able to be sent to my address, and the last location was in Cerritos. My package was supposed to be delivered by UPS, but was requested by the sender to be delivered by USPS, so the package was transferred. Anyway, I was in line, and this woman calls me up. I explain my situation, and how I only have a tracking number from UPS (original guys delivering package). She rolls her eyes, points to the kiosks to my left, and says in THE rudest tone ever "put it in there". Put WHAT in there. I'm not a mind reader, the f*??! So I tell her I don't have any USPS track number. Basically I had to answer my own questions and call the company and have them locate the other track number. Went to the kiosk. Put the number in. Found the info I needed. And while I was doing this, the woman was "helping" someone else, and I hear her, loud and clear as freaking day, mutter "stupid dumb people.." as she's walking her salty a$$ to the back of the room. I didn't catch her name, but this woman needs to be straight up fired. The other two ladies at the other stalls were really kind, and did their duties earnestly. USPS, please put this woman out of her misery and send her packing. She obviously hates her job and would rather work somewhere else, where she does NOT need to interact with customers. The workers at this post office have been friendly and knowledgeable. One of the ladies goes out of her way to offer tips for mailing to save you money. However, they are so slow. Sometimes, but only sometimes, I'll drive by this post office when I really mean to not just drive by it. It's not an easy feat to turn around to drive back to this place, as 183rd can be a busy little side street. This little post office has an equally little parking lot, but have some patience because the parking spots open up fairly fast. This seems to be a high volume place... People are constantly walking in and out of the doors. The wait in line varies, as most post office lines do. This is my favorite post office of all time! I have lived in the area for about 14 years and this has been my favorite post office. There is another post office in Cerritos that has a bigger parking lot and less lines but I always end up here. Lines do get long here and I agree parking sucks but it also moves fast. You can be in and out of here in minutes if you have things ready. Also, I use the self service postal machine a lot of the times I come here. Its very easy to use.. I have never had any of the clerks treat me with hostility, I guess you receive what you give, I was raised to treat people with respect and so far, it works great to my advantage. One of the clerks even helps me tape up my pack ages because at times, I don't seal them well enough. My busy schedule leaves me no choice but people are helpful here. What can be said about this post office, I got a notice saying my package was delivered at 4:04pm today, when I went to the door at 407...nothing and nothing in the mailbox. Checked the video cameras and no mail was delivered at this time. No mail delivered at all today. I called the post master general and acourse they said it was delivered. This is the third time this has happened with in a year. Post office always says its not the postal worker fault its missing that someone must of taken it even though the cameras show it never being delivered. Then the have have the balls to say this is why you should get insurance on your packages....why? So I can spend the day trying to convince the company that sent me the package that I didnt get it and want my money back....all the while someone at post office has my package at there house or sold it to someone. My dad worked for the post office for 35 years and always told me stories about how the mail carriers were with packages they thought were of value...or how the workers in the back took packages...and other stuff... Once, I was able to process the online application, I returned to Maria who was quick to get me the keys and further assist me. I will definitely continue coming here.
