This location for sure is the reason why the postal service is going out of business. Their customer service is atrocious. Every time I go in there I come out in a worse mood. I try to limit my interactions by using the self service machines and yet I still have issues. Today, I went to use the machine, there were 2 people being assisted, the women said I had to wait in line. So I went out into the mailbox area which had 20 people waiting, (so much for social distancing) and asked if anyone needed to use the self service machine. EVERYONE said no. So I went back inside and asked, why I would need to wait if no one intends to use the machines. She said, I couldn't just come in there when they're only allowed 4 people and since the people in the lobby had to wait, so do I. Literally the most idiotic reasoning especially since being there were only 2 people working the counter, meaning they weren't gonna reach their 4 person cap. Utterly ridiculous. This is why people pay to the 20% markup to use fedex and ups and I can't blame them. read more

GARBAGE. 95% of the mail carriers who work here are lazy and don't ensure they delivered all their packages and mail. I can't count how many times I expect a package and they "forget" to drop it off or like today they say "business wasn't open". This place is the absolute worst! They lose my priority mail packages all the time because they put them on some shelf and don't update tracking, then you can't get them on the phone. If you're lucky and they answer, they promise to check with carrier, search for your packages and call you back but never do. There was a time where I got a delivery notification slip and I didn't realize the pick-up date on it was for the next day and went to the post office the day I got the slip to pick up my package and the lady told me that I was supposed to pick it up the next day but that I could come back at the end of the day and I could get my package before the post office closed. This time I went to the post office to see if I could get my package the day of because I was going out of town for 2-3 weeks and some other lady there said there was nothing I could do but pick it up when I get back. I didn't get any email notification saying that my package was going come in today so I had no reason to wait around the house for a package I wasn't expecting. I got home and found out that I missed the delivery by a few hours so I figured since they were so helpful last time that they would be just as helpful this time. I was wrong. How hard would it have been to go in the back and check to see if the postal truck driving around my area was back? I'm sure they have some sort of tracking system letting them know which vehicles go to which areas and when they come back from their route, whether it be electronic or just a pen and a piece of paper. I'm sure they have some sort of scanning system to see which items are still out and which items have been returned and are back in their care and where they are keeping the items. I bet all she had to do was check the confirmation number to find the item but she couldn't even do that. If the truck was still out then I would've been more understanding but the lady didn't even bother to check. Horrible service. Worst customer service ever. My tracking number said my package was in Artesia, when I get there an ask one of the clerks or manager George D. If he can look up for my package, he asked for my address, as soon as I told I'm long beach, he assumed I was mistaken and didn't even bother looking at my tracking number. And tells me it's in long beach if that's your address. I told him it says here that it's in Artesia. Again he doesn't bother in seeing my phone screen or the tracking number. And tells me is 200% that's in long beach. I leave, come back in because I wasn't sure which post office in long beach. I told if he can help me find out in which post office in long beach my package is. And he said No. I'm sorry I can't help you. This Artesia location services many businesses in the Cerritos and Artesia area and we are not getting dependable mail service. Often our mail is not delivered for 2-5 days in a row and frequently we get mail for other businesses. We notice many different carriers, particularly in the summer, who can't seem to locate the business mail slots. We desperately need better service from this post office! read more

In the not too distant future, our children's children will marvel at the novel and quaint idea of people sending letters to one another written on pieces of paper to be delivered by another person whose sole job it was to hand deliver them to the proper person. In fact, aren't we already there? I mean, how often do you actually send a letter to anyone these days? Seems like everything nowadays is digital - mail, advertisements, magazines, applications - except Netflix (which is transitioning to streaming it seems). And that's the only reason why I stop by this post office on occasion - it's the main postal hub in the area and I've noticed that if my Netflix discs are deposited before 5 p.m. that day, Netflix gets it the next day without fail. So if you want the quickest turnaround for your Netflix movies, stop by this post office. It's always busy and the parking lot is small, but if all you have to do is drop off your disc, it should be a rather painless 5 minute stop. read more

I live in Los Alamitos and the Artesia post office is the 'headquarters' for mail coming into my city. I receive mail that requires tracking. services. When my mail arrives in Artesia everything gets screwed up. In the tracking notes it says "wrong address" "undeliverable" "sent to wrong carrier". These knuckleheads will send my mail to Long Beach and Long Beach will send it back to Artesia and Artesia will send it back to Long Beach. This goes on 3 or 4 times before I receive my mail..and sometimes I don't (see below) .USPS sends mail from across the country with no problems until it hits the Artesia post office on 183rd St. Is it no wonder USPS is having financial problems when NO ONE quality controls offices which can't function properly? If there were less stars than one, I would have gave it. I have never been treated like I was treated last saturday. One previous reviewer said that he too was rudely turned away by the maintenance guy that closes the inner shipping room where all the clerks are. Post office closes at 1 pm sharp on Saturday. I knew that already. I arrived at 1:05 pm and was worried if the mail had been picked up because if It HAD, I would just wait until Monday to drop off my envelope. I wasn't trying to enter the room since it was closed however there are drop-off bins outside that are available at any time. So as this worker lets out the last customer, I quickly ask if he knows if the mail has been picked up yet. He literally shuts the door in my face, almost jamming my hand while I held on to the door and yells "WE'RE CLOSED, IM NOT A CLERK". I stood there in awe, knocking on the glass and said I just had a quick question. He literally just keeps shouting the same thing over and over and closes the blinds. So i called his supervisor DANIEL, and let him know of the incident. He didint seem to care much unfortunately (they're all the same really) Turns out its the maintenance guy and his name is EFRAIN, and old "gentleman". I was assured by DANIEL that he would talk to his employee about this behavior. I cant believe my taxes are paying for this guy's salary. read more

I went here because I needed a pre-paid pre-addressed envelope to send to send a paper exam to my university after I take it at a proctoring center. This man in a red shirt (I didn't catch his name) told me I could use the priority mail cardboard envelope but the weight would have to be 13oz or less. I was so confused because I didn't know there was a weight limit. I just wanted a shipping label that was prepaid with tracking. I asked if there was an alternative because I didn't know how much my exam materials would weigh. He said no there was no alternative. I paid $7.35 for a stamp with no shipping label. I went home later and didn't feel content because I had no tracking information and no guarantee it wouldn't be sent back to the post office because it weighed too much. I looked online at the USPS website and found that I could create an account and create my own shipping label for the same price. PRE-PAID, PRE-ADDRESSED and WITH tracking information. It was Priority mail flat rate, which is what I wanted. The saying goes, IF IT FITS IT SHIPS. I don't understand why this wasn't the alternative he could give me. I am so upset that he couldn't come up with this answer. The weight limit is literally 70lbs, which is WAAAAY more than 13oz. I now have a shipping label with accompanied tracking to use. I am so upset that I spent 2x the money to do the work on my own. I want my money back but I didnt even get a receipt for the stamp I had purchased at the post office. I don't know who this person was but he did not know what he was doing and should not be in the front as a clerk helping customers if he doesn't have the right information. I would like to personally thank everyone working at the Artesia Post Office location today 12.17.20. I called at around 9am and was very flustered because I could not retrieve a package that was delivered to my old address I recently moved from, the lady on the phone was very kind and quick to get me a resolve. She took my phone number down and told me she would contact the courier to pick up my package and bring it back to the post office. The gentleman that called that they had my package was lovely, and the woman that handed me my package when I arrived was nothing short of kind as well. I got here before the office closed, I didn't need to to see any postal employee I just needed to purchase postage from the the machine. I hate to criticize a fellow Asian but my experience with the tall Asian man behind the counter was so bad that I need to inform others and most importantly whoever is in charge of this location. I asked the guy that I need to take a photo of my letter so I can show my business partner that I sent out the letter. The guy told me that it's not allowed after 9/11 and that if I do take a photo, he will take y phone away. First all, there were no signs saying no photos allowed and on top of that, this is not a class room or communist country. Taking my phone away? Are you kidding me? This guy was flipping attitude to other customers inquiring about passport and waiting over 30 minutes trying to pick up packages. It's not any of our fault that there's not enough workers to meet the demand so don't take it out on us! We are already paying taxes to help paying your salaries and rich benefits so do your job to provide services, not attitude. Whoever is in charge needs to do something or just close it down to save our tax dollars and the pains of these workers since it does look like they want to work anyway.! read more

Takes: No frills--it's a small branch and basically, your quaint neighborhood post office. I didn't have issues on parking mainly because I walked to the post office. There were a bunch of parking spots open for folks who are driving here. Location: near Jack-in-the Box, residential areas, and the Cerritos mall isn't to far away either Service: I didn't have much interaction with the employees mainly because I was just dropping off letters to mail. I needed to send packages and had already had them prepared so the issue wasn't necessarily slow service my issue was wowowowow there were SO many people in that post office. They have it so that only a small number of people can actually be in the room but there are some nervy people who walk in and out from there without standing in line. It was making me really nervous especially for the workers who see so many customers a day but barely have adequate means of protection for themselves. They also don't have hand sanitizer readily available nor do they wipe down systems used. I have been to quite a few post offices - living in a few cities now - and this one has great customer service BUT THE PARKING LOT SUCKS! Most of the time the service stinks and the employees are rude and impatient, but my experience was quite great! The parking lot however is quite tragic and horrible. The location is just not ideal and I am not sure there is much you can do about it, but if you can avoid this location I would. but .. again .. the service was great! read more

II had gone to this post office before many other times before and never had major problems. Like most government workers i got loads of cranky workers but i let it roll off my back as "whatever" as i had more important thinkings to worry about. But this last weekend was the cream of the crop horrid!!!!! i was in the process of moving last month but didn't know where i would be moving to but didn't want the mail to continue to move to the old address so i went online and put a mail hold. a few days later i was able to find a place to move to so i immediately went back online to do an address change. logic would dictate that the change of address would cancel the mail hold. 3 weeks later none of my or my husbands mail was being forwarded and with extremely sensitive packages expected i went back 3 times to find out whats going on. 1st 2 times the manager took the information and checked the system and said they didnt know whats going on and would check with the carrier and call me back. which didnt happen. 3rd time i went from furious to livid. the manager didnt even give me 5 secs to tell her what i needed and made an excuse that she needed to go into the back and that a lady by the name of Deanna would help me. she did not inform deanna of this and just stormed off. so when i approached Deanna she was blindsided but at least tired to help, although was extreamly rude about it. one of the packages we needed did have tracking (which had a delivery attempt after the mail forwarding date should have begun should it SHOULD NOT have een been attempted to be delivered there!!!!) and she said accordig to the system it should be in the office. she went in the back and returned empty handed and informed me and my husband that she did not know where it was. fortunatly we were able to call the people to sent the mail and it had been sent back to them so they were able to send it back to us at our new address no problems. but this shouldnt have happened. we still dont know where our mail is. if i could give negative stars id give -100 read more

Wow this place really really horrible!!! now i see why this place has such a bad review. I walk into this post office to buy some stamps. and knowing that the line in post office is typically long.. i wanted to use the self check kiosk machine to buy my stamps and be out of there quickly. I walk in and go to the self check kiosk machine and there is a sign that says you have to wait in line to use the kiosk. When they say wait in line... they mean wait in the long line with the rest of the people trying to see the actual post office worker not wait in line on the "kiosk line" so i ask the post office worker i just want to buy some stamps do i really have to wait in line? and she says with a smart arse attitude yes you have to to wait in the line just like the other customers as posted in the sign on the kiosk. What is the point of a self check kiosk if we have to wait in line? then i'd rather wait in line and just talk to a person. isn't the whole purpose of a self check kiosk is so that we can avoid talking to a person and avoid the line and just be in an out? I understand that we are in a weird covid times right now. But that kiosk was away from the rest of the line in a corner. I just have to say wow. this place is horrible... the workers are horrible. just go to the one in carmenita where you can actually use the kiosk without waiting in line!!!. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but my experience here was so bad that I felt inclined to. I called in to schedule an appointment to renew my passport and was met with absolutely terrible service. There was a younger guy who picked up the phone, and after telling him that I needed to renew my passport, he said, "Yeah, let me find someone for you." He sounded bored and unwilling to help me, which was surprising because all I wanted was a time and a day for when I could come in. At this point the line went silent and I figured he must've put me on hold. The hold lasted thirty minutes before I became extremely irritated and hung up. I tried calling again but as soon as the line connected someone hung up from the other side. I'm sure not ALL the employees are as unhelpful as the one I dealt with, but the fact that he completely ignored my simple request gives this post office a bad reputation. I won't be coming here for any of my future postal services. read more

I don't know why this post office has such a low rating. This is my first time going. So, my review may change. But, it's Friday at 1pm. No one is here besides eager to help workers. The parking lot is pretty big- so, I think i don't foresee a problem with parking at any time of day. As soon as I walked in, they were asking to help and everyone was happy and enthusiastic. They have lost 2 of my sent packages, one was for delivery and the other for pickup in their office. Both were Priority Mail. There is clearly an incompetent handling of packages via this PO. How can you lose 2 packages in a month's time more especially a Hold for Pickup? None reached my recipient. Tracking for the Hold for Pickup shows it with "picked up", "out for delivery", "departed PO". All within the same hour. When my recipient is trying to pick up the package, they responded that it hasn't been sent out yet and she has to wait in her house. WHAT??? Frustrating. read more

When you walk inside, the post office is small, unkempt and claustrophobic. But most pronounced are the incredibly rude, unfriendly and suffering postal workers. Usually I have a great experience with US post offices. But this is the absolutely the worst one by far. They have absolutely the worst customer service ever, employees act like working is a punishment for them. A lot of people in this world need a job, therefore feel free to quit anytime. Don't bother calling this location because they do not pick up your calls or they will just put you on hold for 30+ minutes. Every time my packages gets ship to this location, I dread of coming here. I came to this location today, and I had to wait the long lines and by the time I got to the front the women said "Can you please send by the kiosk, I will have someone get you your package." Then I stood by the Kiosk for additional 20 minutes!!! On top of that as the staff member was saying "NEXT!" they were yelling at people in the line saying "NEXT! C'mon we need to go home people!!" Oh you guys need to go home? That's great but I thought customer service is top priority? And does that mean no one else in line have a life? Or that they need to be somewhere? I come here about two or three times a week to get certified mail postmarked for work. I usually go between 3:30 and 4:45 and the lines are almost always long and there usually only seems to be two workers (when there are three workstations available). If possible, try going in before 2 because I believe the lines are significantly shorter. If you only need your mail postmarked, skip the line, head to the counter and ask for the postmarked date stamp and you can be on your merry way. I think they allow this for me since it only takes 2 seconds to stamp the date and no money transaction is involved. The drive-thru drop off mailboxes are on Alburtis Ave. Parking after 3ish can be crazy too. If you see a long queue of cars to get in, just street park on 183rd street. They have green colored sidewalks right in front of the post office where you can street park for free. I have yet to experience bad service but don't expect to be treated like a king or queen (this ain't no 5 star restaurant or hotel). If you approach them in a friendly manner and treat them with respect, they'll return the gesture. read more

Biggest issue is the attitude of these workers, they lost my package and when I showed up with all the info. they still couldn't locate my package and when THEY said they'll contact the mail carrier and call me back. They never did a thing. LIARS. And when you or the LA Post Master calls, surprise... No Answer. Boycott this place for new workers - go to the one off of telegraph and you'll see a huge difference. I'm going paperless with all my bills and sending Christmas wishes and Birthday wishes via E mail. The workers are rude and lazy. They refused to hand cancel my cards. I was pretty impressed that it's a few days to Christmas and they were able to process customers very quickly and with courtesy. There was also a gentleman who helped folks who were just there to pick up packages so they didn't have to wait long. You also have the option to use machines to send small packages and buy postage. read more
