Slow and one of the woman workers there is just downright rude, with major attitude.

Minus one star for customer service. Last time I went in, I needed a money order. I got the money order quick enough, and without issue, but since it was raining, I asked for an envelope to protect the money order slip. The cashier told me she didn't have any envelopes. How is it that a *post office* doesn't have an envelope? The post office processes plenty of small and important documents that people store in envelopes, so I can't imagine that my request is that unusual.

This post office boasts a 4.0 rating, but its actual service is an absolute joke. They claim to…read moreopen at 6:00 AM. I arrived at 7:30 AM to closed doors, which was bad enough, but by 8:00 AM, they still hadn't opened. Their excuse? 'Understaffing.' Yet, there was absolutely zero notification of this on their official website. This is a staggering level of incompetence. It's not even a question of good or bad customer service--there was literally no one there to provide it. Nearly 20 people were trapped waiting inside, all of them in a massive rush because they needed to mail their items before clocking into work. This chaotic mess is a direct result of USPS's systemic mismanagement. It is acceptable to face staffing shortages, but it is completely unacceptable to fail to update your official hours online. You mislead the public into believing you open at 6:00 AM, post a note on the wall saying 8:00 AM, and then fail to honor even that time due to a 'lack of personnel.' This is utterly ridiculous and disrespectful of people's time. Zero stars."

You must purchase it to mail all packages including priority and express. We are not supposed to help you fill out custom forms or passport forms. We are not supposed to seal your packages for you. We cannot give you held packages or mail without seeing your ID. You must wait in line even if you're just picking up your packages or mail. This goes for everyone, especially for you boxholders. You don't get special treatment. You rent, not own. One last thing, your taxes do not pay our salaries. The post office does not receive any tax dollars. Look at your receipts. There is no sales tax. Please also do not interrupt our transactions with other customers. Its extremely rude.

I usually go on my lunch breaks so I don't have much time on my hands. I also go to drop off packages that have prepaid labels and I don't need a receipt. Whenever I'm waiting in line, I get attitude from the woman inside because it seems like she just does not want to help me. This is a one minute walk from my apartment and I will be taking my packages in mail elsewhere just so that I never have to go inside again. Always puts me in a bad mood. They are grumpy mean and unhelpful

Even for those of us who love cities, I think many of us still search for some sign of old world civility and small town charm amidst the hustle and bustle. The staff at this two-window old-timey seeming post office is friendly and personable. If you're a regular, they get to know you by name. They're patient too, especially with folks like me who want to see all the new stamps before deciding on which ones I'm going to buy. They get it that wanting a cool stamp isn't necessarily a frivoulous thing. Those envelopes have to look interesting, don't they? They're also nice enough to have tape dispensers on the counters for packages if you need it a little extra. While my hometown post office in Hingham is also friendly and accommodating, this Beacon Hill branch has the added charm of it's architecture and history. And frankly, it's just so darn cute! The venerable U.S. Post Office struggling. Stop in this branch, buy some stamps, mail someone you know a card or a gift and have a neighborly chat with the nice people who work these counters. It just might make your day in an unexpected way and might change the way you view government employees for the better.

I wanted to balance out the other 2 star review at least a little bit…read more The people who work here are super nice and helpful. Sure, the place is a little slow, but it does have a neighborhood post office feel to it. Admittedly, that's not that helpful when you're in a rush, but I don't mind it that much.

I tried to mail a single sheet of 8X11.5 paper and was told when asked whats the fastest way to mail it "it's your own discretion" repeatedly. Without any help, and by saying this, clearly telling me to buzz off. I finally found the right envelope after several trials each time at which the employee yelled at me for having the wrong envelope, without telling me which envelope. At the end, she refused to take the envelope after all the back and forth. Unhelpful, rude, capricious. This is why people have no trust in government services. If a clerk can refuse services based on their own arbitrary whims, then it should be posted at the door: "Hello, we are a government service but as to the services themselves, it really depends on your skin color, how you look, or generally the temperature of the air. We're happy to keep spending your taxpayer dollars though." For the manager here, or skip-level manager here, do the right thing and show some accountability by dismissing this employee. You can do better and deserve to be represented in a manner that is not reminescent of a third world country. The video shows the employee who should be dismissed.

The lines move quickly (there are 4 windows) and the staff is attentive and helpful. They also have a wide variety of tape, envelops and stamp options. In picking my holiday stamps this year, I had a choice between snowglobes, snowflakes, a Christmas tree variety and a mother/baby jesus. Snowflakes are new this year so I got some of those, some Christmas and then a baby animals set (not holiday themed in case I have some left over). I also bought 10 international forever stamps which had a poinsettia design. I believe this location offers self checkout where you can weigh your package, pay postage and drop off your package in a box but I haven't tried this before. Lastly, this location offers a number of greeting cards and gift cards as well for purchase..

Shipping via the USPS is loads cheaper than FedEx…read more I was trying to ship a pie cross country and the quote at FedEx for overnight was outrageous. No wonder I prefer to send money or to buy online with free shipping! Need a box? It would be $5.99 or more, depending on size. Overnight to Cali would be nearly $190 for 8lbs. Even the cheaper options were pretty pricey, and it was pie, so I couldn't go with the cheapest next week delivery option. I was about to give up, then I remembered that the USPS did offer some quickish delivery options and ran over before their door locked at 6pm. Good news - if you make it in, they will take care of you. Relief! The two pies didn't fit into their large priority box with 2-3 day delivery. Given the risk to the pie quality, I ended up shipping one pie in a medium flat rate box (11-7/8x3-3/8x13-5/8 inch) for $13.65 (one rate, any weight! box included, and with a tracking #), which would have cost $56.99 for 2 day ship at FedEx (about 4 lb, and the price doesn't include a box). The other pie? I'll probably eat it. PS - the pie arrived still cold to the touch - yay!
