It's open 8:45-4:30 Mon-Fri, and it's a lot less crowded than the Harvard Square post office, plus they're often friendlier, or at least less harried. If you can't decide between the Harvard and Central post offices, come here instead! There's a Harvard Coop branch in the suite next door with greeting cards and packing materials, and a Harvard-subsidized-but-open-to-the-public cafeteria next door.

There's social distancing norms in place with little indicators on the floor and masks on policy. There was only one counter open at my time of visit around 4pm but, there wasn't a big line so it was ok. Contrary to all the reviews I saw about this place before my visit, I was leaning towards a bad experience but, i didn't have one. It was a standard drop off for my package and I was done within a few minutes, got the receipt and headed home.

The guy (older guy with a heavy grayish beard) behind the counter said 'I don't know' to every question I asked. He was clearly getting frustrated and so was I. He finally said he didn't know anything about sending packages internationally and suggested I go to the main office...definitely seemed to want me to leave. I wanted to ask how he was able to continue working in a post office knowing so little about sending things in the mail but whatever. If you want to buy stamps I guess he could handle that but don't waste your time and I guess his time for anything beyond that.

Off the beaten path I over heard some of the locals talk about swinging by the Post Office. In my experience I haven't had much luck swinging by the Post Office. Typically I go in with my Yelp app in hand. I had to check this out and to my amazement I found this Post Office tucked into the shopping plaza near the Green Chili and the hardware store. Yes it is out of the way in Saxonville but the drive over beats the time I've had to wait in line at the Cochituate location. The line there is long and NO one. NO ONE is happy on either side of the counter. Don't get me wrong, I feel for the clerks that come in to do their job to get the huff and puff of those having to stand in line. I guess if you don't' know and you are in a hurry then I can see how the frustration can begin to build. However, I have yet to see where tapping your foot got anyone closer to the front. So depending on which side of town I am on I will either venture to a UPS Store or to this location.
