The hours listed on the usps.com website for the self-service kiosk at this PO and actual physical access to the lobby are not the same (see photo). This PO's lobby and self-service facilities are MUCH more limited than listed on the USPS website, and either usps.com or the West Roxbury PO needs to change either their data or their opening times, respectively. This discrepancy is very frustrating. Additionally, there is constantly a wait for counter service, even if there are postal workers at the counter and no customer is presently being served by them. The postal clerks at the counter will literally look down and around their workstations rather than make eye contact with customers or call them up promptly. They consistently make customers wait until they "deem" it time for the customer to approach. In private business, any company that would behave this way would be out of business within three months. The only reason this review got 2 stars instead of 1 is because of how good the postal delivery personnel in the field are from this PO. As unpleasant as the experience is in the PO itself, I have NEVER had a bad experience with a postal delivery person from this PO. read more

We have had a horrible experience dealing with this post office. The 'Interim' Manager is rude/not helpful and our letter carrier is no better (not wearing a mask during COVID and cutting through yards/walking on grass). A couple of the clerks are nice as well as the supervisor. Long lines and lack of help. I came in today around 2:00 pm. Best experience I've ever had at a post office! Luis was very knowledgeable about the right type of postage to put on each of my different kinds of wedding invitations. He took great care in handling the invitations that might get destroyed in the machine. He made sure I wasn't overspending by trading stamps with me and handling all the international envelopes individually. He was extremely polite and friendly. If his manager is reading this, then please promote him or give him a bonus because it's well deserved since he was working overtime today. read more

The guy behind the counter does not say one word to you even when you say hello to him, and when you clearly need guidance on sending a package he completely ignores you. Is incredibly rude and bad customer service to not even speak to the customers especially when they ask questions because they clearly need help. This place is a joke, the lift is broken and has been for months. Every other day the kiosk is broken. There's one younger lady here that's cool and does the best she can, but the guy who looks like he had a stroke is a jerk. He expects you to know everything about the postal service and starts going with different rates and insurances and all this other stuff. Like dude put a stamp on my letter and put it in the outgoing box. I don't need to know the science behind sending a letter. He also has a bad attitude overall. And I agree with the other reviews. If there's a line longer than 5 people be prepared to be there for an hour or more. We have been getting other people's mails and if it is within the neighborhood we just drop it off at their mail boxes. Twice I was charged over due fee for late payment but I never got the bills. It's honestly a hit or a miss here. Some days you're treated great & the line isn't long. Other days it's dreadful. Like today. The line was long & really uncomfortable to be in. One of the postal workers had music playing that was very inappropriate. She seemed more interested in the music than what the customer was asking. I was waiting on a gift for my wife, didn't want her to see it in the mailbox when she got in from work so I decided to go pick it up 1st thing in the morning. Got there when they opened at 8:30 sharp. Rang the bell for assistance. The lady comes to the door, then explain my story to her. With out even asking a question. Oh no sir, mail is already gone for the day. For starters, she didn't even ask my address or for an ID, or even bother to take 3 mins to check! Secondly I can see all the package trucks still parked out back. Third, my guy doesn't drop my mail off until 6 pm at night. Okay, thanks for at least checking and wasting my time. West roxbury po is the worst post office ever. The male managers are rude and extremely lazy. I went to pick up my mails only to find out it was locked. These extortionists lock out your box and deny receipt of payment in order to receive fee payments. Presented a returned check post dated b4 the due date and the blockheaded manager refused to issue a refund. Thieves. Slow and incompetent ! With one or 2 seldom exceptions, most of the postal employees there are slow and incompetent ! I've asked a clerk that took my package to mail it to APO as Priority Mail -(that was the label I filled out) - and he instead placed the postage for regular mail, and ignored my label. I asked that he uses the tape to cover one of the box openings, he refused - although it was tape written "priority mail" on - but of course he did not pay attention and instead threw a sheet of paper at me with their "instructions" as to why they should not provide tape for customers for free! - The tape for priority mail is to emphasize that it is priority ! - I got so irritated that I took my parcel and left ! I have never had a problem with this post office but my mailman???? My mailman has waited until my wife leaves to work before going to the mail box with parcels on three occasions. How do I know ? I'm home !!! He doesn't even ring the bell because he loves making us go to the post office. He is just giving me a hard time. Huge lines EVERYDAY! I started using the 24 hour drop box. I have 6 priority mail packages that I have used the drop box on and 4 out of six of them do not show shipped after nearly 10 days! This place is a joke. Who ever manages this branch should be fired. I had to file my second "lost package" claim with USPS today!!! Other branches have told me that those drop boxes should be cleared at least three times a day and processed so you can track your package online. read more

Living in an apt building, and everyday the postal worker scribbles on my mail. If 4 out of 5 pieces have the Apt number and one does not, he scribbles that the apt number is required....UGH!!!! Lazy, considering that my name is clearly marked on the mail box, and all other pieces of mail do have the apt number. It amazing me the amount of time it must take him to write on my mail daily. I have never been treated more rudely in my life by people. I went in to get a passport. It clearly states on their website the hours and that no appointment is necessary. I was told in the most snide condescending way that they don't do it all the time and 2 people called in sick. Didn't I know there is storm today. We sent a package to Pensacola Fla. cost 26 bucks and they said now this is friday that if they didn't get by 3 the next day we could get are money back. well it didn't show til monday Pensacola u.s, postal claimed it was there before 3 on saturday they are out and out LIARS . There is no recourse with them absolutely the worst ,nevere ever will I send anything thru these useless sleazes . They get some mail from UPS and they screw that up ,they say they leave a redelivery note ,they dont , have to sit on the line waiting for one of their useless overpaid workers to reschedule delivery. If I could give this review less than one star, I would. I have had a few uncomfortable events with this branch. I hate writing a negative survey, as I am retired with the USPS, support it, and mostly they do a great job, but something is wrong here. The workers seem to be very irritable and do not enjoy what they do. I went in to mail a package once and someone was being helped with a passport (a very long process). There are specific hours for this. My visit was not within that time frame. Today I called to find the status on a package in which I was monitoring the status. My data stated that it was in West Roxbury last week and out for delivery. I had not received it and still haven't. It seems it was "forwarded to Miami and delivered". I have never lived there. An employee told me very abruptly this morning that it was now in Denver (never lived there either). She would not even let me tell her what my concern was. She just said that was the way it was routed. The package originated in Maryland on November 3rd. Over 10 days.... Really?? I'm aware things go wrong sometimes, and mistakes happen, but for me, there is no excuse for rude customer service. read more
