Delicious sandwiches on focaccia bread! We ended up trying the Club and SoCal sandwiches. The flavors were great and the bread tasted so soft and fresh. I do wish they had a little more substance to them but I do feel satisfied. Also got to try the enchilada soup, which was a little salty and most likely from a can. Still helped my soup craving though! I've had the cookies before and they were really good but today it was way too sweet and "sticky". The dough kept sticking to my teeth and it was not a good way to end the meal. read more

Decided to try out this new place with one of my friends. We were looking to eat a more nutrient-dense and filling meal and we definitely chose the right spot. The baja bowl was amazing & I especially loved how the nutritional information is available for every item on the menu. The cashiers and servers were so helpful and knew their menu very well. I'm a regular customer here and very much enjoy the healthy choices of food as I have a specific diet. However, after today I probably won't be returning back. My sister and I had just driven 13 hours in the rain from Northern California and I had flown from Maryland just before that. We were tired and needed some healthy food. Urbane Cafe was near our hotel and looked good. It really was!! My sister had the UC Banh Mi which she enjoyed. I saw the Mediterranean Bowl on the wall menu and didn't even look at the rest of the menu. It was perfect! Flavorful mixed grain rice, red pepper hummus, pickled onions, tomatoes and cucumbers with a 1/4-round of focaccia. I'm not a huge kale fan, but it was good too and nicely marinated. The star of the dish was the roasted sweet potato that brought a hint of sweetness to each bite. I sure wish you were in Maryland!! Healthy, whole food and vegetarian options are much harder to find out here. read more

Honestly blows Panera or any other sandwich cafe I've been to out the water, so good!! All the sandwiches we ordered tasted super fresh and delicious you can taste the quality of ingredients and the bread is so soft and pillowy. I love how they use the same bread for all sandwiches. The cilantro, bbq, and the pesto were all so good. The bowls are excellent as well super refreshing and nice portions, we ordered the Baja bowl love the Mexican infusion of black beans and corn! The enchilada soup is one of a kind it's as if tomato bisque and chicken tortilla soup had a baby lol! Super creamy and taste amazing. Lastly the white chocolate cookies were great super chunky and love the whole pieces of cranberry they added in. We were on a road trip from La Quinta to San Diego and stopped at this Urbane Cafe location and are so glad we did! We love Urbane Cafe and had never tried this location before but everyone working there was so kind. It is a bit small inside and it was too windy to sit outside but there was a table for us and high chair for the kiddos. The food was delicious!!! The store manager was so sweet and made our road trip and day special by taking the time to talk to us and give chocolate chip cookies. She was kind to everyone and it was a busy lunch time with lots of pick up orders but the whole staff stayed calm and cool. Thanks for being awesome, we will make sure to stop here everytime we are up this way! read more

Just moved to the area and was looking for something fresh and healthy that wasn't Subway. Luckily Urbane Cafe had just opened last week and I happened to be in the nearby strip mall parking lot. The menu offers a wide variety of fast casual dining options (sandwiches, salads, soups, and bowls), but with elevated flavor profiles. The current specials that I saw when I was there included a seared ahi tuna bowl, a shrimp po boy sandwich, and a shrimp bowl. I ordered The Ahi salad which had a generous portion of ahi tuna on top that was perfectly seared. The Japanese chili dressing that comes with it was very tasty, but not particularly spicy. It reminded me of a more flavorful, less thick version of Kewpie mayo. I also appreciate that all salads are served with the dressing on the side as the default. Even though they just opened all of the staff was well trained and very friendly. I can't wait to come back to try more! read more

Terrible service! The managers Chris and Patty are extremely rude, inconsistent, and do not have any customer service skill. How you treat your community matters. It does not feel good to spend one's hard earned money, just to be treated poorly. I will not be back to this location and I will not recommend anyone else to this location. maps say they open at 10, went in at 11:20, looked at the menu for a good 3-4 minutes before an employee came up and said we had to leave because they weren't opened yet & us being in there was a liability. Subbing fruit for the side salad was way overpriced for the tiny amount of fruit, vs the sides salad, so I don't recommend unless you really prefer fruit. History

Established in 2003.

It all started in 2003 when owner Tom Holt realized there was a missing niche in the Ventura restaurant scene. He wanted a great sandwich and salad, something different, while still being dedicated to delicious-tasting food. He understood that every great sandwich starts with the freshest of bread, so he designed the cafe around a hearth oven. Working with his friend Pete, they came up with a bread recipe that was soft, delicious and baked fresh, right in front of your eyes. It didn't stop there though, he created a menu centered around locally sourced ingredients, juicy-roasted meats, and crafted sauces to give each creation its own unique flavor. Urbane Cafe loves being the place where friends, family, and communities gather to celebrate and make memories over delicious food. Our passion is to have our guests walk out happy every time and keep them coming back for more.

Meet the Business Owner: Tom H.

Tom Holt is the owner, founder and Chief Bread Head of Urbane Cafe. As a young child Tom developed a love for motocross racing. His first career was at the age of sixteen when he became a professional motocross racer. In 2003, Tom Holt's vision was to bring a great-tasting, healthy, and affordable sandwich and salad restaurant to the friendly people of Ventura, California: a nice, small town where he grew up. Urbane Cafe quickly became the gathering place where people meet to engage, relax and enjoy a great meal at a great value. The success of that first location proved that Tom had struck a chord with the local community. Urbane Cafe is all family owned and has continued to expand since 2003 to multiple locations across California.

We were sat right next to where they made the tortillas and can see them being made since they had glass windows around it. However, there was one gentleman that was making tortillas who was on his cell phone texting or whatever CONSTANTLY at the same time while doing this. He had a glove on one hand and no glove on the other, and was touching the tortilla dough.....We all know how dirty a cell phone is! And what made it worse is at one point he itched the inside of his nose with his finger, and didn't even wash his hands or have gloves on after that. Definitely made my stomach turn and what caused me to go and write this review. I suggest a camera be placed at the tortilla station, add the notes about bacon in the beans and chicken in the rice, and add bell peppers to the fajitas. Also, maybe give the option of meatless beans and rice for the non-meat eaters
