We were looking for a place to stop for dinner on our way to Coachella from San Diego, and this is right along the way! We found the name of the restaurant to be funny, and ended up being very pleasantly surprised by the food there. I got the beef kebab plate and we got a side of falafel to share for the table (the falafel isn't on the menu but you can ask to order it as a side). The falafel came out piping hot and was crispy but not dry. The beef kebab plate was huge and enough for two people to share. The meat was cooked well and flavorful, and the garlic sauce (toum) was amazing. It wasn't super busy when we were there (on a Thursday evening), but our server was very nice. Salad- cucumber, tomato, onion lettuce and etc. with the dressing. Fresh and tasty. We also ordered 4 pc fried chicken not knowing wit was a full on plate. Comes with potatoes mojos, hummus and garlic paste. My son said it was the best fried chicken he ever tried. Last we had the traditional pizza with veggies and feta cheese. Delicious. Hidden gem!! I got a sampler of a good amount of their food. I got the baba ganoush which is one of the best I've had. The falafels were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their pictures on yelp are not what they offer on their menu they need to update it. The woman in the front was not very helpful. How are people supposed to know what you sell when you don't offer pictures of your sides. When I showed her a picture of what is on their yelp she said they don't offer cucumbers because they would go broke. Are you serious?? I walked out she was too lazy to explain what the sides were. Been here a couple of times and their food is consistently fresh with good portions and reasonable prices (approx $20 a plate) I get the chicken plate and it comes with a good amount of protein and the chicken is juicy and seasoned well. It's over a bed of rice and comes with hummus and pita bread . One of my favorite Lebanese spots, hands down. I've been coming to What The Falafel for over a year now and they've never disappointed. The chicken kebab plates are always juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the lamb plates are just as good--tender, flavorful, and cooked right every time. I'm Palestinian and grew up eating traditional Middle Eastern food daily, so I was genuinely excited to try this place for the first time. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing. I ordered my go-to gyro sandwich and it was absolutely drenched in oil. I had just come from the gym and was starving, but it still lacked flavor. The meat itself was tender, but the garlic sauce had no flavor at all and tasted watered down. Every bite started and ended with grease, and the sandwich was literally dripping oil -- pretty gross overall. My boyfriend ordered the shawarma fries. Presentation-wise, they looked much better than my gyro, but they also lacked flavor, especially the sauce. They also sell dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), which were clearly store-bought and straight out of a can. I immediately recognized them, especially since the cans were visible on a shelf in the restaurant. That was pretty disappointing for a Middle Eastern spot. We ordered baklava and were charged $4 for what they called a "large," which turned out to be a single triangle. Every Middle Eastern place I've been to considers a serving two pieces, so that was off-putting. The baklava was also store-bought, which is usually fine if it's fresh, but this one was extremely dry and had no attar at all -- the sweet syrup that's typically served with Middle Eastern desserts. Lastly, we ordered our food to go and there was no plastic silverware included in the bag. Customer service was decent, and the ambience is pretty nice. They had Arabic music playing which really gave me high hopes hah. but overall the food was very disappointing, especially given how much better and fresher Middle Eastern food can and should be. read more

After years of eating here, my family and I will not be coming back anymore based on my last experience with the manager, her treatment of workers, and her overall lack of customer service skills. Not to mention the 50 minute wait for my food that I called in ahead of time. I ordered two tours of Beirut chicken and two small baklavas, as I walked in to pay for my food the manager and one of the workers were having and argument that eventually led to the worker walking out. The manager charged me with a different order then blamed me for paying for it. What she lacks in customer service she makes up for in gaslighting skills. She kept talking over me (like she did her worker) then proceeded to blame the worker that walked out for putting in the wrong order, when in reality it was her on the phone I placed the order with and who rang me up at the register. It's hard to capture how rude and disrespectful I was treated in a yelp review, which I don't normally do, but I felt the need to share my experience to bring awareness and to hopefully inspire introspection in the manager and the whole establishment. I hope they never treat customers this way again and that they learn to treat their workers with the dignity and respect they deserve. read more

I used to love WTFalafel and even recommended it to others, but NEVER again. I placed an order through Grubhub and it arrived with a missing item. This place is not cheap, so I called to ask what happened. Instead of an apology or a solution, the girl who answered the phone was extremely rude and argumentative. They made the mistake, yet she refused to fix it. When I asked for a manager, she told me there wasn't one available. I later found out the manager's name is Nadia--so Nadia, please know your employee is actively driving loyal customers away. I've been coming here since they first opened, and the staff used to be kind and helpful. Sadly, that's no longer the case. Because of how poorly this was handled, you've lost a loyal customer. Been here twice while coming from Joshua Tree or from Las Vegas and it's definitely a great stop to go to for some great Mediterranean food! Parking is very spacious so definitely easy to come here. I've been coming here at around 8pm and the inside is pretty empty and some people come here to get food as take out or as doordashed. The service is good as well where they get your order while seated and check on you constantly if anything else is needed. The food portion here is really good with lots of other varieties! I personally am able to eat everything but I'm sure this could be worth two days of food since the portion is somewhat big, but it's a good thing! This place is definitely my go-to if I need a pitstop going back down to San Diego and would recommend to try it out if you're in the area or want some good Mediterranean food! read more
