I give FuFu's a solid 3.5. It's a nice, quick Mediterranean eat in a food court. I came to visit my friend and visit nearby businesses in Riverside in a food court. The food court had a variety of options and there was ample seating inside and out. All the indoor tables were taken but ambiance was nice and seemed busy with plenty of patrons. We decided to try Fufu's and it was pretty good. It reminded me of a Mediterranean chipotle and I thought the food was pretty fresh. The cashier was nice and gave me the option to choose half lettuce and half rice. I liked the chicken with the buffalo sauce and the rice + lettuce combo tasted nice with the protein. I liked the additional toppings of the pickles and tomatoes because it tasted refreshing with the other foods. My friend unfortunately did not really like his meal. He got a beef kabob and other toppings but the meall overall didn't taste good to him. He also only had the option of just rice and wish he was presented with the option of half rice, half lettuce. I was trying to decide between the Chicjem kebab bowl and chicken shawarma bowl for a late lunch at 2 (difficult to make decisions when you're too hungry) so I asked Shakirah the staff person there which she would recommend. She said definitely the chicken kebab but it would take 10 minutes. So I followed her advice and asked for it on a bed of 1/2 rice, 1/2 salad, with green pickles, turnips, and grilled onions on top. Garlic and tahini sauces as well. (You choose 3 toppings and two sauces). It was worth the wait! The chicken was so tender and the pickles and turnips so flavorful, the onions grilled perfectly, the sauces a savory delicious blend with everything. A solid place to grab some food at the Riverside Food Lab. My brother ordered and grabbed some food here while I was perusing some of the other vendors. As always, the best plan is to spread out, separate, order several different foods at the lab, reconvene and share dishes so you get a little bit of everything. He ordered the lamb chop plate which comes with 2 sides that you can choose. We got the fries and hummus for this. Both are solid choices. Lamb was moist and didn't need to be dipped in the hummus or anything else. Nice slight char at the edges. It comes on top of a bed of seasoned rice. A bit oily, on top of the meat being a bit oily too, but it's the nature of the cut of meat and the cooking style. The lamb chops weren't enough to cover the amount of sides and carbs in a portioned of proteins to carb ratio, but it's alright. Service was efficient and cordial. Vibes are lively as there's lots of people at the food lab on the weekends. Sometimes they have events going on or a game on too. Finding seating can be a tad difficult, but you just circle around until you find a spot. read more

I will just say last night there was barely anybody in the food lab and only a couple people waiting at this restaurant I placed my order and left for about 15 minutes and came back and asked where my order was and the lady working behind the counter told me it'll just be a couple minutes. I left again and came back about five minutes later and I noticed they had not even started working on my order. Obviously, this is very disappointing. No apology given it just seemed to be a matter of fact and most of them did not even make eye contact when they knew I was visibly upset by having to wait for one simple item that should've only taken about 5 minutes to make at the very most. read more

We came here on valentines night, super crowded, hot and sticky inside the "Foodie Lab", but Mediterranean is what our group wanted to eat Our cashier was super friendly, and the reason why they're getting any stars. He must have been the shift manager, because he carried himself well, and had the best customer service, especially for such a crazy night. We placed our order. 1 3 item skewer plate and 1 steak skewer plate. We waited about 20 min, that wasn't too bad because our group was able to score a table right in front. The problem started when we opened up our order. They got the sides wrong for my husband. He had asked for hummus and fries, but gave him a salad. I went up and let one of the line staff know, he looked at me and just turned around. I said excuse me and told him again. This time with his plate in hand and the receipt showing the order was wrong. He grabbed a small dip container and stared scrapping the crusty sides of the hummus pan and filing the dip dish, he would not even give us one scoop from the middle fresh portion. He did add olive oil and paprika for visual appeal (thanks sir, for your generosity) I took it and went back to our table. I open up my plate and notice I have no dressing for my salad. This time my husband goes up there, same guy looks at my husband, and says "there's dressing on the salad already" husband comes back and tells me what he says, I grab my container and go back to the counter. This time ignoring that rude kid, and making eye contact with the man who took our order. He comes to the counter and ask how he can help. I show him my salad and let him know what his staff told my husband, he apologized and said the salad is usually dressed in the back, and they were so busy and probably forgot. He gave me two of their vinegarets, and I thanked him. Now we can finally start to eat our food. The rice was soft and fluffy, the fries were super crispy and seasoned well. But the steak, was so dry and overcooked. We have eaten here before and the meat has always been so tender and cooked to a med rare. But this time, just bad! Again, busiest day, super crowded, loud, hot, but your food should still be up to standard. She says something but not clearly so I ask, "ohh, so is there vegan meat in it?" She snaps back that there is no meat because it's vegan. And again reiterates that it has "beyond it in". This time understanding her, I said "ohh ok. Got it. So it's fake meat. Sounds good" (and about to order it) She's gets upset and says "it's beyond and vegetables. No meat. It's vegan so there is no meat. Do you not know what beyond is!?" (Mind you, Beyond is a company, not a type of food). This whole time my friend was reading the menu over to the side and missed the conversation. She walks over and asks what's in the vegan wrap. The lady lashes out and says "you didn't just hear me explain this to your friend!!?" (For all she knew, this could have been a completely separate customer as my friend wasn't even in the area when she explained it to me). I understand that some people would prefer not to call plant based meat substitutions "meat". And also it's customary for people to call it meat. It wasn't a big deal and she could have just kept her calm and accepted we use different words to talk about the same thing. It was unnecessary to have a nasty attitude. A solid Mediterranean spot that serves big portions. They have two locations that really do well. Currently they are in Riverside food lab and Redlands Public Market. The service was very fast and efficient. My order came out within 7 min and was super excited to eat. I chose the plate where you get two sides and a protein on a bed of rice. I don't think Fufu's is doing anything particularly special that sets it apart from other similar restaurants, but the flavors are good, the spices are on point, and the pita is excellent. I like the kabobs here more than the shawarma, which is often a little too minced and a little too dry. That said, I highly recommend the baba ganoush and the batata harra. Service is quick and friendly even when the Food Lab is busy, which is a major plus. Prices are a tad inflated, but not any more than other places in the Food Lab. read more

I love that they've been almost indefinitely running a BOGO on their chicken shawarma bowl on DoorDash. However, I wish they would allow more than three additions to the bowl without paying extra. The chicken is usually really good (sometimes it's dry) but everything tastes fresh and yummy, especially the pickles! The stuffed grape leaves are also really tasty. Our food was terrible, the meat wasn't cooked properly and was freezing cold, everything was extremely gross and seemed like they barley put any effort into it. Most of all, it gave both my daughter and I FOOD POSIONING. The meat had to been extremely old or wasn't prepared right because it was freezing cold in our bowls and not cooked all the way. Too bad this is something we can only go to when we are in the Riverside area, but nonetheless, we are excited to come back here and try other items on the menu! The star of the show, which I was hoping to be the falafel was kind of a let down. It was crunchy but kind of on the dryer side.
