The char-grilled burgers were cooked perfectly--juicy, flavorful, and loaded with fresh toppings. The Italian beef sandwich was tender, juicy, and even better with the hot and spicy peppers that added the perfect kick. The French fries were hot, crispy, and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. And if you're ordering fries, the cheese sauce is a must--it takes them to the next level! Daughter had the Chopped Salad with spicy chicken, and it was fresh, crisp, and packed with flavor. The spicy chicken added just the right amount of heat without overpowering the salad. The portions were generous, the food came out fresh, and the staff was friendly. Drove all the way from Beaumont to try Portillo's for the first time as I heard they use Vienna Beef hot dogs with a nice snap to them. I ordered the chili dog with onions and got a side of nacho type cheese to dip it in and for the Fries...... Not bad overall, but the chili had BEANS in it and was too watery. It needs to be THICK like at Tommy's and Cupid's. The fries were no big deal. Speedy service, as the inside was just about empty on Thursday around 3 p.m. How about selling just the raw dogs so we can take them home and make our own? My ordered double dipped Big Beef Sandwich with Sweet Bell Peppers, melted Mozzarella Cheese, and Giardiniera was enormous, and after initially having my breath knocked away by the Giardiniera's overwhelming spiciness, my intestines soon settled down and I greatly enjoyed the melting concoction. The hoagie roll supporting this mammoth edifice of tender roast beef and embellishments nicely sopped up the au jus, and sank under the heat. The Chicago Dog that accompanied the Big Beef was a classic all-beef Hot Dog with a snap, rounded out with Emerald Green Relish, White Onions, Sport Peppers, and Yellow Mustard. I wish there was a Portillo's closer to my home. Instead I try to go to this Portillo's on my way to Vegas or back. I really like their chopped chicken salad. The salad comes with ditalini pasta, tomatoes, bacon, and green onions. I ask for no Gorgonzola cheese. The house dressing is like Italian and it's delicious. The crinkle cut fries are my favorite. Extremely friendly service at the counter. A great customer experience from the counter representative. I order a Hot Dog and a Polish Dog. The Hot Dog itself was outstanding. We were driving back from California and decided to make a pit stop here - a friend had taken us a few years ago and we really enjoyed it, so it was an easy choice. Staff was friendly and efficient, turnaround was quick, and the dining area had a decent vibe - music at a reasonable volume and conversations weren't overly loud. Prices felt fair for the huge portions you get. The only downside for me was the beef + sausage combo - it fell a bit flat. The sausage wasn't as flavorful as I remembered/expect, and the "spicy" peppers were mild at best, nothing close to what's advertised. We totally forgot to grab the giardiniera mix that our friend specifically recommended, but the 2-pound meat bag saved the day for home. One of my favorite restaurant chains in SoCal. This location in Moreno Valley is much closer to me than the Buena Park location, and it's not nearly as busy as that one either. I get the larger size, dipped, and then save half of it to heat up in the air fryer for another meal. You have to get the cheese sauce as a side, to either add to your sandwich or dip your fries in. And I love crinkle fries, so this is another plus. Last time I went, I also got a piece of the chocolate éclair cake to take home to my Mom. It was delicious, and tasted exactly like layers of flattened éclairs! They have a rewards app, and your first checkin earns you a free fry on your next purchase. It might be as simple a matter as what you order, but the value seems to vary--I had the jumbo hot dog this time, and it was definitely not jumbo at all. I'm actually curious what the normal hot dog looks like, considering this was about as average a hot dog as they come. It tasted all right; I liked the toppings, especially the peppers, but the sausage could have used more char. I also tried the fish sandwich. Sort of expensive for how thick the breading was compared to the amount of fish, but it did come with a comically large piece of lettuce. Signing up for perks on website or app is a horrendous experience in frustration. I was notified of an available Perk of free large fries with a $5 order. Kept getting an error attempting to apply the Perk so it went unused. I waited for my order at the pick up counter and when my number was called I repeated the number and showed my receipt and the staff just pushed the bag indifferently toward me with the back of his hand. Then spotted the same guy as we left, parking his large self next to the soda fountain getting his fill of soda. My friends swear by this place and made the long drive to pick up a catering order for our monthly game night. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the meats and freshness of the bread. The toppings for the wet beef sandwiches were literally the cherry on top of yumminess.
