Ah man, I really wanted to love this place. It's close to home and it's a Philly cheesesteak--it should be a win....but was just ok. We ordered the classic cheesesteak, and honestly, it was not bad, just not great--especially for the price. I was hoping for a roll to soak up the juices or just for the cheese to be melted on the meat. The staff was very nice. I've only been here once and wanna give it another shot and try a different sandwich--maybe the Philly's Best or the Philly Philly instead of the classic. I wanted it to be better. I ordered a regular Philly cheesesteak sandwich and a meatball sandwich. The meatball sandwich tastes like it was regular frozen balls heated up. This Place Absolutely Lives Up to the Name! I stopped by to get the new Couper Classic Steak and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, the service was top-notch. The gentleman at the counter was very friendly, and the entire restaurant was clean and welcoming, it seems like a great spot for a family dine-in. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. After a 25-minute drive home, I was shocked to find the food was still perfectly hot! The cheesesteak was excellent, but the sides truly stole the show. It was alright. I don't think it deserves to be called "Philly's Best." We ordered the Classic Philly, the Philly's Best, both wit wiz, and they left the white American cheese off and only put the wiz. The meat was tender and not fatty, which was good, but the meat had zero seasoning. The Bacon Ranch Chicken Philly was decent, but the meat also had no seasoning. A little salt n pepper goes a long way, people! The bread was soft but still left something to be desired. I will say the onion rings were excellent, and that's what got the 3rd star in this review. It was definitely overpriced, though. We spent almost $75 on three Philly's and one order of onion rings. Hopefully, they'll take note of some suggestions, and if so, we'd be willing to try it again. read more

Placed order for pickup at 3pm. Got to Philly's and was greeted by a friendly woman behind the counter. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my order. Took me about 25 minutes to get home, and surprisingly the food was still hot. Ordered a mushroom cheesesteak with melted American cheese and it was absolutely amazing. The bread was fresh and made exactly like I asked for it. Received a cheesesteak and peppers with grilled onions for mom, and she was ecstatic that they even remembered to put the salt and pepper on it (most places ignore that). I went to MOD but it was crowded and I've been wanting to try this place, 8:30 on Sunday night, I was the only one there.... at least they weren't cleaning up yet. It hurts me to speak ill of Philly's Best, but this one is deserved. I've been a Philly's Best fan for years and years, visiting many locations in Southern California, but the new location in Riverside at the CA91 Arlington exit is a disaster. At the outset, I'm a native of Philadelphia, so, I know of what I speak. Yesterday, I stopped by and ordered an Italian Hoagie and a Cheesesteak and a Mushroom Steak sandwich. The illuminated LED sign board suggested getting the hoagie "the Philly Way" with oil, vinegar, and onions. That what I asked for. The cashier replied, "with dressing?" and I responded, Well, the Philly Way, just as your board says. She then entered the order, which displayed on the screen as including Mayo. I replied, there's no mayo on a Hoagie; that's a sin. (I was wearing my Philadelphia Eagles shirt and cap at the time.) Her curt reply was "Well, that's how we do it!" Anyhow, I waited for my order, and the steaks were soon done, but they hadn't even begun to make the hoagie. I asked, "why are my steaks getting cold waiting for the hoagie. She retorted, "Hoagies take longer to make." Since I was treating others and noticed that Birch Beer sodas were available for $3.49 (per the board), I asked that 3 be added to my order. The cashier then rang them up, and the display showed $3.99 each. I pointed out that their board said "$3.49." She replied, well, they're $3.99. I then asked to speak to the manager. They replied that there was no manager available (at 12:30 p.m. on a weekday). I don't think these folks have a clue what the "Philly" in "Philly's Best" means. Beyond that, they are pretty clueless about fast food service in general, including advertising one price for a product and charging a higher price. I remain a Philly's Best fan, but I won't return to this one, even though it's my closest location. I went in there two months ago to grab some cheesesteaks for the Eagles game and asked them if they were going to be playing the game at their store. They looked at me blankly. Cheese steaks are an emotional food and many of us Philadelphians want to feel the ambience of Philadelphia when we go to a place that represents Philadelphia. So my suggestion would be to have eagles, 76ers, Flyers, Phillies, etc. games playing at all times. Brand new location. Upon arriving, It was awkward, NOT once greeted by staff or offered suggestions. Cashier did not know how to ring up the order on the register. $53 for myself and two children to dine! Kids meal did not include a drink and it was basically $21 per COMBO which had a regular sized sub, one side and regular size fountain drink. Cashier did not ask if chicken or steak was preferred and they had to remake my sub. I had to ask for napkins. We dined in and for new construction i feel the ac should have been working properly! This is my first time coming here and I loved it. The meat was tender, not fatty, and not too salty. My usual complaint with cheesesteaks is that they are usually waaaaay too salty, but not here. It was perfect. The mushrooms and onions were cooked right and delicious and the bread was so soft and fresh. I savored every bite. I really want to love this place, so I keep going back, but each time (4) they manage to get something wrong with the order. $18 for a sub and drink, the least I expect is for it to be made how I ordered it. For example, the first time I ordered, I asked for the barbecue chicken and got steak, second time I asked for no peppers and I swear it was like I got extra peppers, and so on. I'm giving two stars because the restaurant was clean and service was fast. As for the food, very disappointing. I ordered the tuna salad which consisted of tuna with mayo on a bed of lettuce and tomato slices. The tuna was barely cool, the tomatoes had no flavor and these were placed on a bed of romaine lettuce that was mostly yellow and very bitter. This is the part of the romaine that I always throw away when making a salad. My boyfriend ordered a cheesesteak sandwich. While the sandwich was beautiful to look at, absolutely flavorless and very dry. So sad that we spent almost $25 on a lunch that was so underwhelming. No drinks included in the price. We probably won't be dining there again but would have always wondered if we hadn't tried it. Lesson learned. read more
