I often overlook this chain for quick munchies ,but I've slowly come around to try more than just the excellent chili cheese dogs, especially the upgraded all beef franks. The chili fries are another recommended must-try. Their burgers are now banking on the "smash burger" trend and if you order accordingly, they can be a surprisingly affordable price. The chili is good they sell cans of it for $5, which is great to keep in the pantry for home-cooked chili dogs. I favor the jumbo Hebrew National dogs for that. My new favorite discovery? Their milkshakes! They embarrass that swill pushed by McDonald's, Burger King, and Carl's Jr. Try the Oreo cookie flavor, you'll see. At $5.99 it's not cheap, but it is 100% superior. Here and the location on Central Ave. 1 Mustard Dog and 6 Mini Corn Dogs Central Ave - $5.31 Mission Grove - $6.94 Your choice. This place is closest to my house so I will probably still visit this place, just not as frequent. Went through the drive thru at 1pm which should have been just after the lunch rush so you'd think the food would be fresh. Nope. Ordered two corn dogs and they were so soft. Not a hint of crunch at all which means it had been sitting there for a while. The fries were incredibly wilted and mushy like it had been steamed. My bill was 8.70 and I gave a 20 dollar bill. I got back $10.70 in change. The receipt clearly shows 11.70. I asked where my other dollar is and the lady didn't apologize. It was more like a " oops, you caught me". Won't be going back. I've always found certain things at Wienerschnitzel to be a bit pricey. The last time I asked for a pretzel bun upgrade, it was like 90 cents, which may just be this location, but still, too much. So tonight I went to pick up some Sunday special sundaes for everyone, only to find out that there are no more specials. So I asked for some mini-sundaes and was told that they had been discontinued also. At this point, I just cancelled my order. When you establish specials over a period of years that people come to expect, it's no different than massively increasing your prices. I have never seen one of these crowded. When I walk in there is usually one other person there and they are usually leaving. I guess hot dogs are not so popular anymore. Just went thru the drive thru to get some sundaes to satisfy our sweet tooth. They took my son's card and says it was declined. He went online to check to see if the money was there. It showed a pending transaction for the order. The girl claimed since her register didn't open it was declined so if we wanted our food we would have to pay again. My son showed him his bank account showing it went thru. She was bitchy saying she couldn't do anything about it saying if he didn't swipe his card again we needed to leave without our order. So we left. Called the store when we got home to talk to the manager. I think it was the same one who helped us in the drive thru because she had the same bitchy attitude saying the same thing she said to my son. She refused to help in any way and was extremely rude. Called the bank and they confirmed my son's card was fine and the transaction was pending. They canceled the transaction for me. Unreal waited 15 minutes for a banana split and when the guy went to make it he touched the banana's with out gloves or washing his hands after handling money. I asked for a manager and I'm told I can come back in the morning as they will be there. Then I ask for a corporate number and I'm told not sure there is one but here is our number to call. Last I knew when you handle money you wash your hands or use gloves before handling food. That's how people get sick. Got money back walked out. Good luck if you eat here. I have been to this particular location many times over the past several years. The quality of the all beef hot dogs are always excellent. Now, what weinerschnitzel's don't have is the Americana feel that Pinks does... But then again, it does have a Tasty Freeze inside... And you can't go wrong with that. I must comment on the freshness of the fries... Have you ever been to a place where the fries almost burn your mouth? This is the place folks...mmmmmmm deep fried mouth!
