I ordered Harissa Cauliflower as a veggie side dish. I really enjoy the menu and portions at Urban Plates as opposed to some competitors. The portions and food options go beyond sandwiches, salads and soup. Many people enjoy the side dishes so much that they order 3 or 4 side dishes as a main meal. The lemonade is not overly sweet as well, and tastes like real lemon juice. I feel like the offerings are organic and healthier options. We enjoyed our meals without guilt. I love this place because it reminds me of Tender greens. I feel like this place is even better than tender greens. Meats and sides are way fresher and better quality. We ordered steak with chimichurri and sides were Parmesan mushrooms and hummus and I added on some mushroom stuffing. Ok so the stuffing super dry and no flavor so yeah I think it's seasonal but I won't order that again. lol but everything else was yum. I'm excited to ordered different meats next time and sides. This was my first time visiting Urban Plates. The decor is sleek and modern with some farmhouse charm. Staff was young and friendly, and the self-order system was easy to navigate. I really liked the outdoor patio, with plenty of seating and even a dog-friendly area. The food, though, was a bit underwhelming. Portion sizes were small for the price. Just two slices of tofu and a mini corn on the cob, both of which were surprisingly spicy. Not ideal. Vegetarian and vegan options were limited (just two), and the dessert menu was pretty sparse too. I sometimes view fast-casual joints with restraint, as they can overpromise and be gimmicky. Let's see how this one fared. First impressions -- industrial décor, modern and clean -- like a high-end cafeteria, with counter or kiosk ordering, where you mix and match your proteins, sides, or salads and get assembly-line convenience. The indoor seating is deceptively large, with communal tables, and there's an outdoor patio as well. We ordered two mains for date night: the Beef & Mushroom Braise, and the Grilled Grass Fed Steak with Brussels Sprouts, Truffle Aioli, and Beet Salad with Goat Cheese. The beef braise was quite comforting -- buttery beef chunks, earthy mushrooms, and a gravy-like sauce accented by wine, garlic, and herbs. It reminded us of beef bourguignon. The grilled steak was well-balanced -- rich, savory, earthy, with sweetness and crispiness from the vegetables, while the tangy finish from the goat cheese cut through the fattiness. For a long period of time I had foolishly dismissed and avoided this restaurant for one reason or another. Quite frankly, I don't even know what the reason(s) were, but I simply never gave it a try. My lady recommended I let the bad feelings go and give it a try, so we took the machine for a cruise and tried it out.. I was blown away at the size of the facility. Plenty of indoor and covered patio seating. Very clean and modern location. The cheeseburger reminded me of a solid backyard BBQ style burger. The grilled chicken plate with macaroni and cheese was definitely better tasting than it looked. The macaroni and cheese, while plain, was an excellent side choice. The grass fed steak was cooked to medium rare perfection, full of flavor and very tender. The hummus was an unfortunate upset. Flavor was there, but to me, it was not the right flavor one would be seeking. I wish they had broccoli for a side choice. Rumor has it that they once did, but the cashier told me its not the broccoli season apparently.. I will say the gentlemen working the counter were very friendly. Heavy respects to the guy dealing with the grandmas and grandpas. I was hurting for him as they were playing their games, but he trucked through it like a champ. read more

I gave this place a few chances, but the quality of their food is terrible. I've tried their salad, sandwich, and plates. The meat always looks and tastes undercooked, and the portion gets smaller each time. The only good thing here is their chocolate vanilla cake, even though it costs $8.25 for a slice. There's a 3% surcharge added to every order, which is ridiculous when their prices are already high and the food isn't good. I saw a few other reviews mention the surcharge and people are upset about this. They should get rid of it or they will lose more customers. read more

My wife and I were there last Thursday (April 30th) and had a great experience. My wife had the beet salad, and I had the grass-fed steak, and it was great as usual. What stood out was the incredible customer service the that was given by Jay, and Fidel. My wife had some questions about other menu items for our next visit, and they went above and beyond taking care of her, answering question, offering samples of what she was asking about, and then sent her home with a nice treat.
