The pizza is greasy but decent. The service, unfortunately, is wretched (and that's being overly generous)! I didn't expect much as it's basically counter service. However, when I was told "45 minutes" upon ordering cheese pizza, I expected my family would be eating the most basic pizza on the menu in less than an hour. Nope! They must have lost my ticket because I didn't get my food until after 90 minutes had elapsed AND a random employee asked what we were waiting for 30 minutes after close. And when we complained, we were told by an entirely unsympathetic employee that we were mistaken about being forgotten. No mea culpa. No offer of recompense. Just unapologetic rudeness. Best part? We didn't even get the correct size pizza after waiting so long. And since all the nearby restaurants were closed by this point, my kids went home hungry. Just walked by this place on our self guided tour of the tourist trap that is St. Augustine. I love pizza and this place had a lunch special for $5.50. Two cheese slices and a coke. The menu was good and we got a seat by the window. I usually don't judge a place by a waiter or server. But I did note the cute girl behind the counter gives off some attitude for sure and doesn't smile very much. Like she was too hot to be working there. Whatever. It's a good lunch spot. When my guest went to counter to let them know about her raw calzone their response was, "Would you like a box so you can cook it more at home?" They do not wait on the tables in there and it's very clear they are not working for tips. If you have to go there, just don't tip before you eat. I've always thought Borrillo's was a tourist trap, and now I know it is! I doubt, very seriously, if any locals eat in there... Borrillo's has delicious spaghetti and meatball dinners, as well as delicious pizza options. They deliver - I like that.

I've been coming here for pizza for almost 16 years. I think the pizza is better here than in NYC itself. Maybe, I have that opinion because of the nostalgia attached to it. I've never gotten bad feedback from anyone that I've suggested Borrilo's to. The service is a little slow, but the pizza is worth it! Don't get more than two toppings on the pizza, especially vegetables, because the crust will get soggy and kill the experience for you. Enjoy. read more

Do not under any circumstances order the baked ziti. I went against the warnings I've been told in the past having forgot them, then they all came back to me when I saw it. It is the weirdest thing... like marinara sauce they mixed with ricotta? The sauce is pink in color, super super weird texture, no meat, zero flavor. Food was OK. Pizza and stromboli. AC were 2 window units, struggling because it was a hot day, but not a big deal. Their prices are not that cheap, being in the tourist district. They use cheap flimsy white paper plates and no real silverware- plastic forks/knives. Cmon- give the people good eating utensils!! But the biggest thing that was a turn off was the girl at the cash register charged us $69.00 for what was to be around $55.00. Great pizza. Fresh made and very well cooked. Menu has a good variety of pasta, calzones, hot and cold subs, salads, and pizza. Also has steelers gear everywhere so that's a bonus. Haven't tried the sandwiches or pasta but this is a nice little shop. I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Oh my, please re-consider if you are venturing out to Borrillo's Pizza & Subs. The 'waitstaff' was incredibly incompetent. We asked for water no less than four times. Our four orders came out at three different times. The last one to arrive was a single slice of cheese pizza. Really, 20 minutes for one slice?. When it was time to go I asked for a pizza box to go three times. This is place is SMALL yet the waitress was unable to remember our request for said box on the journey from our table to the front counter. I went to the counter and asked again. Then again 5 minutes later as I watched her sip her water. And finally again, stating, please hand me the to go box and I will box it myself. As far as the food, it was fine. Definitely not exceptional. With so many restaurants to enjoy in the area, do yourself a favor and visit a restaurant that cares about its customers. read more

I eat here regularly and have always enjoyed it. That being said I ordered 2 Stromboli and received calzone which I despise ricotta cheese. I called back 10 min before closing because that is when I realized it when I got home and the owner argued with me about ingredients I know my ingredients because I have been classically trained in a French cooking school. Fantastic New York style pizza! Most places claim to have it and don't come anywhere near the real deal - this place has it!! A slice as big as your plate, dripping with grease, thin crust you just gotta fold over. If you want real New York style pizza, this is the place to go. My husband and I frequent Borrillo's, and we've gotten a variety of things on their menu but our favorite is the lunch special. Two slices and a drink for a fair price - and a single slice is enough for one person! They've also recently started offering a new special: one slice, a side salad (the house dressing is tasty, it's oil & vinegar) and a small drink. Other favorites are the antipasto and the cheesy garlic bread. Delicious! They also offer punch-cards for their pizzas and their sandwiches/salads. One thing you need to understand about the staff here: they are not going to be falling over each individual customer/table, but that does not mean they are not attentive. There are usually one or two girls working the counter (depending on time of day and which day of the week it is, if it's busy) and they are everywhere at once. Taking orders, dropping orders off at tables, cleaning up after the people that don't realize there's a trash can for them to bus their own tables, getting folks refills on their sodas... it's a counter-service restaurant, NOT a fancy sit-down place. It's also very often packed with people. Patience is a must if you visit Borrillo's, but the food is worth it. We've been going to Borrillo's for years, and not once has our order been incorrect or mixed up in any way. Easily the best pizza in town! Five stars all the way. :) read more

The beer and wine garden is a gorgeous addition to this locally owned venue. Although the inside is not super glam, the outdoor seating is where it's at. That is all just a bonus to the delicious pizza. If you go here, the brick oven pizza is where it's at. Upon arrival, there was a local artist performing acoustic style music. This topped off the atmosphere of the whole place. Usually live music can be a bit much when going out due to the inability to talk over the music. The performer here was the main event. He was so talented we ended up staying way past dinner just to enjoy his music. All in all, what an awesome St. Augustine experience we got here!! read more

We sat down at the last 2 booths vacant bc we were a group of 8, we were reviewing the menu when a heavy middle aged man approaches me from behind and says, & I quote "ARE YOU GOING TO ORDER BECAUSE IF NOT I NEED THE TABLES". I was in disbelief, I'm very BIG on customer service and this was just so unnecessary and unpractical; pretty much I looked back and replied "we're looking over the menu, is that ok with you?" He looks at me in UTTER MADNESS I mean this man was shaking & after 2 minutes of staring at me he says "DONT YOU GET SMART WITH ME!". I couldn't believe what I was hearing, I just arrived from a 7 MONTH deployment with the U.S. NAVY and couldn't believe what I was experiencing almost detaining himself. Absolutely amazing food. Went in on 6/24 and a sweet woman from New Jersey waited on us. She was so attentive and treated us like family. I love how they now wait on you at the table instead of having to stand and order at the counter. We tried the meatball sliders they were amazing!!! My husband and I have lived in St Augustine for 3 years and always just drove by. Tried it a week ago and have already eaten there 3 times! We've tried the Philly cheesesteaks, garlic bread with cheese, and pizza. All are excellent. Service is good, too--the owner/manager even brought our carry-out order to our car on our recent visit--unexpected, but appreciated in this cold weather! When our slice of pizza came we could not wait to get out of there the decor is depressing and not that clean. The only ray of sunshine there was the girl taking the orders. My family enjoyed a 2 day visit in this awesome town. Everyone loved Borrillo's so much that we had to eat here twice! The pizza was excellent, hand tossed and baked in stone oven, huge difference. The toppings were fresh and generous too. I especially loved my anti-pasta salad. It was loaded and very fresh also. Our server was pleasant and very helpful. The owners were also present and greeted us. Loved the mom and pop, "no-frills" atmosphere. Genuine hospitality and excellent food. We shared the best Tiramisu, which was a good as we get from our hometown bakery. Well worth the visit and hope to make it back! read more

this pizza place was recommended by the receptionist at the motel we were staying at while visiting Saint Augustine. Of course, I checked it out on YELP first. My husband is a Pizza snob, and he absolutely loved this pizza. wE ordered take-out and delivery was free as long as we spent over $18 the pizza was hot, they also brought plastic cutlery, napkins and paper plates, which was great as we were in a motel room and had no utensil. The pizza is pretty good, what you'd expect from a Florida pizza place. The service is pretty bad though. The hostess has the worst attitude I've ever seen, and they definitely don't have enough people working, because the wait can get pretty bad. weve been going to Borrillos for the past two years,weekly. i was shocked after reading some of these reveiws,i find the pizza outstanding!!! the philly cheese steaks and chicken parm subs are amazing too,the food is 8 out of 10 times perfect,every now and then the crust may be bland or burned a bit but hey,the place is busy so its forgiveable,and understanding.i think the best times to go in are between 3 and 5pm when its not so crazy busy that you cant find a set and you wount be given the opportunity to recieve bad service,and yeah i understand where some of the"bad owner" reveiws come from because he can come off a bit harsh,atleast thats what i thought when i first started eating there,but i soon learned that thats his sense of humor and loved it so if you dont have humor i dont recomend you going.relax a bit..and service? its NOT a fancy restraunt,its a PIZZA joint for gosh sakes,they arent gonna shine your shoes while you eat,the girls are great and do their best to keep up with the madness,and they may not smile 24/7 but neither would you if you had 30 things to do with one set of arms.if your smiling when you come in they smile right back everytime,if you come in rude then you get rude in return,crack a joke,they love it!
