It was busy when I came in and I had to stand in a line to use the dressing rooms. They cuffed the pants and put in a pin to hold it in place. They told me to return the next day and gave me a receipt. Easy as pie! I received my pants and paid a nominal price for the work. I recently got these 2 dresses that I just absolutely loved and also for a great deal. They are just not my sizes. I knew that one dress should be easy to fix but the other dress I wasn't so sure because of the neckline on the dress. So I started the hunt for the tailor to get them fixed. I asked around and I was directed to this place by a lot of people. When I got here there were couple of people in line in front of me. The setting of this shop is little weird. There are couple of dressing rooms where you change into the clothes you wanted to be altered. But then you have to Step out and stand in front of everyone to be measured. So there is not really much privacy. Out of the 2 dresses I tried the guy told me that one of the dress is hard to alter because of the neckline just like I thought and he told me if possible its better to just return it. I appreciated his honesty. The other dress was fixable so he measured me but the total was not as cheap as I thought it would be. He charged 10 bucks for resizing the straps and 14 bucks for resizing the sides on the waist. So 24 total to re-size a simple dress. I got the dress on a great deal so I didn't mind paying this time. But not sure if I will pay that much again for a simple non event dress. I picked it up couple of days later and they did a great job overall. So I will give them 3 stars because even though they did a great job - it was not complicated altering and I felt they charged little too much for it. read more

I'm not quite sure why there have been so many negative reviews, but I have never had a bad experience here. I will admit that sometimes the staff is not the most "friendly", but they have never been rude to me, just more neutral and unexcited. There have been a few customers that were unsatisfied because something was missed, but the owner agreed to fix things, no charge, and admitted fault. They do a GREAT job with pants and make sure that the stitching, such as on True Religions, stays intact. They actually use the original stitching and sew it back in. I have had numerous pairs of pants altered here over the years and they have all come out great; you can't even tell there's a stitch. I have also taken shirts in to be re-sized, have straps adjusted, etc. Same story. Prices are reasonable too, and you can get your items back within a few days. read more

These folks are busy and working themselves to death. I went to pick up my items and was yelled at for not having the pink slip ready. I removed myself from the line until I found the pink slip. When I brought it to the counter, I was yelled at again. I recently bought the jeans of my dreams. Unfortunately, said jeans were designed for the likes of Gisele Bundchen. Enter Unique Tailor. The hemming was done in a week, only set me back $9.99, and was done perfectly. I held my breath the entire week, as I have never used a tailor before and wasn't sure what the outcome would be. As it turns out, I didn't have to do that. The aforementioned line is a real thing, but it moves fairly quickly and only serves as a testament to the competency of the shop. Does everyone have perfect bodies? Is everyone a supermodel? If you answered "no" to one or both of these questions then you need a tailor for your clothes. Read about a bajillion reviews that say this is the place to go for jeans. Hubby and I each had a pair we needed hemmed, so we checked it out. We went on a Saturday or Sunday in the early afternoon-ish and there were about 3 people in front of us getting measured so there was a bit of a wait but it wasn't too bad. One girl was VERY indecisive and had several items to be altered so she took awhile but the other folks zipped in and zipped out. Ours were quick too. I had brought a pair of heels to make sure the length was right but they actually have about 10 pairs of shoes to choose from in different heel heights/sizes so you don't need to bring your own. That was convenient. They've got 3 tiny dressing rooms for you to change into and once they measure you, you just drop it off at the counter and get your pink ticket. They quoted us 9.98 (4.99 per pair) and told us they'd be ready on Tuesday after 3pm. I picked them up and the hems were fine but I was told that the total was actually $15. Apparently my pants were a special hem because they were not straight leg, but bootcut. #1, most women's jeans are not straight legs so I thought that was kind of unfair. #2, that's fine if you want to charge more for that kind of hem but I wish they had told me that up front. My claim ticket said 9.98, and he scratched it out and wrote 14.98--not cool! I asked him if he would have known that ahead of time and it took him like two seconds to show me how to tell. So I know now, but they could have easily told me that straight up. Lame. read more

I've used Unique Tailor over the years to fix simple hems, shorten my jeans, and such. The quality of work is there, I will say that. Jean hems, even when I don't keep the original hem, never look like they've been taken in. This, I love. I am a short girl, and I have to hem nearly every pair of jeans I buy. They consistently do a good job for very little money. The only other things I have taken there to get altered are vintage items. And this is where they are just a tad bit deficient. Vintage clothing takes a great deal of skill and knowledge to do correctly, given the fact that many of the fabrics used back then are not commonly used now. Their tailors are not quite up to par in this department. For my non-vintage, less expensive pieces, I will keep going here. This is my go-to tailor. I love the speedy, professional service and that they can put the original hem back on my jeans. They have even been able to salvage 2 pairs of very expensive jeans when the seams split from wear and tear. Yeah, I'm a jeanaholic. I highly recommended giving this place a try. I've used Unique tailor to hem my jeans and dress pants before. Never have been let down by the Service, Prices, and speediness of the alterations. They take the time to get your measurements and discuss what YOU want. Not what they want. Even though if they have concerns, they will bring it to your attention before doing anything. I brought 4 pairs of pants and they had them done the same day and it didn't even go over 20.00. When I looked at the hems, they looked the wat they should be. Perfect. DON'T GO THERE! I just left there and I am very upset. I took in a dress for tailoring a few weeks ago and the service was 35. This past weekend, I bought the exact same dress in a different color for cheaper. I took it in to Unique Tailor and they were going to charge me 45. instead of 35. I explained to them I had previously been charged 35. and the Asian man started arguing with me in front of customers saying there is more work involved. I told him "How could that be since it's the exact same dress?" He continued to argue with me and didn't even offer a solution or compromise. I WAS WARNED ABOUT THIS PLACE so I am not surprised that they eventually tried to sc*ew me over and, today, it happened. I go to this place all the time.....but today was horrible! They over charged me. They did not complete the original receipt they gave me so when I picked up my item the just put what they thought and over charged me big time. I come there all the time and have things altered and the prices are great but today I had a waist adjusted... so easy... and they charged me double of what I paid!!! I tried to ask her why they were charging me so much for this it was a very simple thing to do and what I have had done all the other times when I come in there are much hardier alterations. The service was friendly and they talked me through what they were doing and how much it was going to cost. I took in two garments and it only cost me about $60 after tax. Waited 15 minutes and got my measurements fairly quick. The lady asked when I needed the jeans and I told her I wasn't in a rush. She asked me if Monday was okay. Monday?! Two days?! Slow?! That's pretty much an order being expedited at any other tailor store. They did a great job hemming my jeans and only cost me $8! The lady told me if I was ever in a rush, they can complete a job within a few hours. GREAT SERVICE! I've heard really good reviews from my friends and family previously so I came in there hopeful. As like Tricia S., I brought in a "straight leg" jean that apparently wasn't actually "straight", slightly more bootcut, and I wanted original hem to begin with, but if your jeans are straight/skinny, original hem is 4-5 dollars. So I thought it was 4-5 dollars. Then the person writing the receipt wrote down 10 dollars and I was confused but he explained that because the "straight leg" on women jeans tend to not actually be straight, so it would be 10 dollars. Long story short, original hem is 10 dollars and just to cut and alter is 5 dollars. Then I went in another day and altered two Juicy velour pants and they charged me 10 dollars each! I was shocked because I thought hemming velour is easier than hemming jeans. I asked the front desk person why and he explained that to do the original juicy hem is 10 dollars even though I did not ASK for it, so word of advice: SPECIFY if you want original vs. regular sew & hem on ALL items. and they ONLY take cash if the cost is less than 10 dollars and if it's over 10, they'll accept credit cards. I will continue to go to them because I have not found anyone who does a decent-good job for that price. read more

I've been to a few tailors around the metroplex and this is the best place I've been to. My first pair of altered jeans were $12 ($5 hem and $7 for customization). They did a good job and it didn't take a week to finish like all the other places. Maybe 3-4 days. The second time I came back, I decided to get the original hem for a few more pairs of jeans. It was interesting... they cut off the original hem and sew it onto the bottom of the jeans after they've been cut (to shorten). I probably would have been fine w/o the original hem, however. It was $20 per pair. Original hem looks better on darker jeans. Not too bad on the lighter jeans, however, you will see the flaws if there is any in the sewing. It's a pain to go there from Garland but it's worth it for the quality of work. read more

I made sure that the tailor knew exactly what I was asking for, I even had a second tailor confirm what I wanted done because I was having the hem messed with I wanted to make sure it wouldn't get messed up since they were fringe jeans... I told them if hemming fringe jeans couldn't be done that it was no biggie at all and to just not mess with them. They assured me it would be totally fine and I wouldn't notice a difference... picked them up and 1) they were hemmed about two inches higher than what was decided and most importantly they are NO longer FRINGE jeans (the reason I spent money buying them!!). Very disappointed especially because this could have been avoided if they were honest with me and told me that it couldn't be done! read more

I come here multiple times a month and always recommend this place to friends and I'm super disappointed to be writing this review. I dropped off a duvet cover that had multiple holes in it. I explained to the woman that there were multiple holes in various places that needed to be repaired. When I picked up the duvet cover there were still unrepaired holes. They explained to me that she only marked three holes and that I was only charged for three holes so if I wanted the other holes repaired I would have to pay more and leave it again.
