The seamstress does a good job, but you will pay a high price for the service, which I don't mind for the good work. With that being said, I will not be back because of the rude customer service I received from the Spanish woman who writes up the ticket and dictates the price. I will not subject myself to this rude behavior and if I was the Owner of this establishment, I would not have someone like that representing my business. I see on yelp that many customers have complained about this employee being rude and now so am I. If I ever find out she no longer works there I'll be back, until then I'm sure there other tailors just as talented with better customer service! read more

I've come to Unique Tailor a handful of times and couldn't be more pleased. After an expensive Highland Park tailor ruined a brand new suit, I found Unique Tailor on Yelp and thought I would give them a try. They are very professional and the pricing is super reasonable. They even offer 1 hour turnaround on pant hemming. Most recently I had 2 suits that were ill fitting and thought they were bound for the donation bin until I brought them in. The staff operating this business is SUPER RUDE. They overcharge and add an additional $25 to &50 fee if you need your alterations done before ten days. RUN AWAY!!!!! This was the old go-to for formal dresses but they're now a butcher shop. I had a strapless lace dress that fit perfectly that I was going to wear for a family wedding in June but due to covid they moved the wedding to September. I took the gown in last week to have it hemmed and asked if they could add a tiny bit of material through the waist on the lining only...(The lace stretches and covers the lining) just to give me a little wiggle room for dancing. They completely butchered the dress and wanted $75 for it. The dress was $995 and it's now garbage. read more

On my first visit to this unique tailor, I took three suit trousers and a suit jacket for tailoring, all brand new, all with tags attached. I picked up one pair the same day, but told them there was no rush on the others. Upon inspecting the trousers at home, I found their work was sloppy, barely of mediocre quality and there was a hole in the fabric where they made the alterations. Two weeks later, I went back to pick up the other items and show them the ruined trousers. I spoke to the the owner, who asked the seamstress if she was responsible for the tear and of course, she said no; but, maybe it had been returned by someone else at the store. I explained it was a new pair of suit trousers with the tags attached, that never been worn, especially unhemmed. Well, maybe somehow, either I or the store had torn the fabric or maybe when they were being manufactured, but they, with 100% certainty, did NOT cause the damage. I suggested that a seam ripper was used, but the owner said they hadn't done anything to alter that part. Deny. Deny. Deny. Finally, with a line of people listening to the conversation between myself and the owner, which was going nowhere fast, I agreed for them to be repaired, at no charge, since that was the only 'solution'. So, I paid the $150, yes, $150 bill for the alterations and 15 minutes later, she gave me the trousers and I left with all of my items. When I got home I looked at the other items and found another one of the trousers to be worse than the first, but no tear or hole in the fabric; however, I decided not to go back. I learned an extremely expensive lesson from my first and only visit to Unique Tailors. You don't always get what you pay for and just because there's a line of people out the door, does NOT mean they're good--it just means that the shop is tiny. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else, Dallas has hundreds of tailors. read more

I agree with most of what the other reviewers have said. Unique Tailor is very affordable and they can turn orders around very quickly.The rain jacket I needed altered was finished within 1 day when the estimate was for for a few days longer. However, at times their quality of work suffers because they do try to be so fast. My experience is one of the times where quality suffered: I brought in a rain jacket to be taken in and shortened. I tried it on and they placed the pins all the way down the sides to show me how it would look/fit once they took it in. The lady who was helping me did listen to what I wanted and took her time. The problems don't begin until I pick up the jacket a day later. I come in to pick up my jacket and I notice right away that there is a large crease down both sides on the front of my jacket. I point this out and ask if it was formed when they steamed my jacket. The lady takes a look and responds "Oh no, that's the internal seam and that's just how the jacket was made." Me: "Oh, well it didn't have that seam when I brought it in." Lady: "Sorry, that's just how the jacket was made: At this point I'm thinking in my head, "this is a pretty nice Burberry rain coat that I'm POSITIVE didn't have two ugly creases down the front when I brought it in". Since it was pretty apparent I was going to get anywhere with this lady I decided to just pay and go. However, you could tell this could have been a cop out response to a customer's questioning of their work. Fast forward a few months: I still have the jacket but I've since moved to Houston and I take the rain jacket to a tailor in Houston. I show him the creases and after taking a few moments to turn the jacket over a few times he asks me if he can try something. He then proceeds to gently tug on the outside and inside layers of the coat and amazingly the top part of the crease disappears! The tailor then explains his hypothesis: When Unique Tailor was taking in the jacket, they used a plastic hemming tape that they didn't remove once they finished the work. Then when they ironed the jacket they heat melted the plastic causing the inside and outside of the jacket to stick together. CONCLUSION: I would take jeans/pants here to be hemmed, because the speed and low-price are good positives, but would find a better tailor that has customer satisfaction as the highest priority rather than volume. Just goes to show the importance of finding a tailor you can trust :) read more

So, after looking up on yelp for a tailor I found this little gem. As I was walking up to the door I was silently hoping they were Korean. Why? Because there are two things that I feel Koreans excel at: Donuts and Tailoring. ( I'm Vietnamese and my mom owns a couple of nail salons/spas. Therefore, I'm allowed to stereotype too :D). I'm going to try to keep this short and simple; basically, in a gist, their store motto. When you walk in this little shop, you will most likely see a a customer being worked on a platform (they have two), to your right 3 dressing rooms marked, A, B, C. and to your left huge collection of clothes ready to be picked up. Jeans hem- 4.99 (heck yeah!!!) Tricky hem (where you keep the original bottom) 4.99 ( this is SUCH a bargain. Most places start at least 15 dollars) Copy - around 10 dollars. Cash only if it's under 10 dollars. Otherwise, if you spend at least 10 dollars you can pay with a cc). While I was in the store, I saw a wedding dress already ready to be picked up. I'm sure whatever you need to get done they can do it without a problem. There was a long list of prices in the dressing room, and I tried to get a picture, but I came in late, and I didn't want to hold up anyone. (Don't worry, I"ll be back soon. I'll take a picture next time.) I know they are open until 7:30pm everyday except Sunday. Sunday-closed. They give you 7 days to come back if you are not happy with the work, and they will fix it for you. However, if you brought in brand new jeans, never been washed, they will not honor it (though, it is wise to know that it's not good to dry your "good" jeans. Just pull inside out, cold-water, and air dry to prevent fading). Time: For each jean please give them at least an hour. So yes, you can pick it up in one day depending on how urgent it is. Location: Coming from HWY 75, stay on the right. It is before Greenville Ave, right across from Krogers (left), and next door to Radio shack. You can easily miss it, but due to my great girl explanation, it would be hard not to. :D Well, I must say, I am VERY pleased with my jeans. I think it looks better now than when I bought them in. How much do I love them? Well, let's just say I would even turned down Nordstroms free tailoring. They are that great. In fact, their number is now saved in my phone. I definitely felt I got my money's worth!!!! The stitching is amazing and the thread matched perfectly! It looked like I just bought it that way at the department store (does anyone know what I mean? Sometimes, when others do a good job on the hem, you can still tell that you took them to the tailors. I don't know. Maybe I'm too picky). If you invested in designer jeans I am sure you want go somewhere that will uphold the jean's worth, and for the price you get great QUALITY stitching. If you bought inexpensive jeans and you don't want to spend too much, I'm sure you can't find a more inexpensive place that goes as low as 4.99. You get the best of both worlds!!!!! Either way, to justify your purchase it is great to bring your jeans, slacks, shirts, wedding gowns, Asian formal garments, etc. to this place. I have very little experience with tailors in general, so my opinion of Unique could be skewed a bit. That said, I'm such a fan! It's really hard to find pants that will fit my son's skinny waist. He was given some really nice (i.e. expensive) jeans that were barely worn before being grown out of, but they were absolutely huge in the waist. So, after hearing from several different sources that Unique is *the* place to alter jeans, I decided to give them a try. Because he needed so much fabric taken in, we had to go with the side alteration - which costs $15/pair - rather then the $5/pair darts (and hems). But I couldn't be happier with the results. You can't even tell they've been altered. He's thrilled that for the first time ever he has jeans that actually fit him and I'm thrilled that his pants aren't falling down! read more

They were not transparent about pricing. I called them and asked for pricing specially stated I was going out of my way to go to their store when I live in Las Colinas and they are on Mockingbird. They did not quote the full price but a portion of the price, then once I arrive they finally tell me the total bill is almost $200. I will never go back. As a business owner they should know and not expect customers to interpret what they are saying or figure it out themselves. They should always quote the total price so that a customer is fully aware and not surprised when they pick up their alterations. Very bad service. I will give them as much bad publicity as I can because they should know better and not assume customers know what they mean. read more

Alterations- my new guilty pleasure! I've been going to this little shop on Mockingbird for about 2 years now and they can alter damn near anything, any way you want it, and it always looks amazing. I am constantly getting darts put in my pants (thanks to this ghetto booty). They'll even sew a button back on for ya...okay, so I realize I should really learn how to do this myself but it's a freakin buck-totally worth my lame ass not having to learn how to sew a button! I would advise against going on a lunch hour as everyone and their dog clearly has had the same idea as you! (dogs need alterations too, I'm sure!) My only complaint aside from the usual long line is having to model your clothes in front of the long line of people...can be particularly embarrassing when your thong is hanging out the back of your britches! read more

I've only had jeans hemmed here so I don't know how their work on other clothes is, but they do a good job. The price is awesome, and the turnaround time is quick as well. I don't understand how people give them a bad rating because the place is busy... Sorry they're successful. How is that a negative? Yeah waiting sucks, but there's a reason we all choose to wait instead of going to a high class place with lounge areas and no lines. Because we'd rather pay with our time than with our wallets. Most of the workers I've dealt with were really nice. Others were strictly professional. If they were rude, boo hoo. They're old foreigners who are trying to get down to business. They don't have time to pamper you. I don't understand why anyone would care anyway as long as the work is good and the price is low. read more

Let me start with the positives: Although there is generally a modest line during peak hours (after work, mid-day weekend), they move quickly and it's usually not that big of a deal. Prices are excellent, and the workmanship seems to be good from what I can tell (though I will have to let it go through a few months of wash/wear before I can be sure of the longevity). When I asked them to re-work a shirt they had already done, I was simply asked for the receipt and no further questions. And the downside thus far: I am probably a bit of a difficult customer, but it seems to me that of the 6-7 shirts I have brought to Unique Tailors to have the sides and sleeves taken in, they all vary in fit post-cut, some worse than others. I have what is referred to in tailor parlance as a larger than "eight inch drop", so no shirts fit me properly off the rack, and most need a significant amount of fabric cut from the waist, but not as much from the upper body. All of the shirts look better than they did before (barring one), but still not what I was hoping for. The one shirt still looks like I crapped a blanket because of how much fabric is still at the waist, the others are reasonably improved. I suspect they are not taking enough out of the waist, but removing the right amount, or maybe even a little more than necessary, from the upper shirt. To Unique Tailor's credit, one shirt looks almost perfect. Also as some users mentioned the staff is not the friendliest. I would not say they are rude by any means, just not really all smiles. Then again given the volume at that store, it's not easy to be cheery all day long when you've reached your 800th customer and you think you may have carpal tunnel from pinning a billion needles in endless articles of clothing - I know , I've worked retail in past lives. The point is be very very specific, they can't read your mind. I felt I was pretty clear, but now I know specifically what to ask for. As I feel part of the blame may be mine due to lack of specificity, I will re-review after I have had more visits and a longer amount of time to test the durability of the work. read more

Try on before you leave. They try anyway they can to get out of "redos" when they mess something up. The chicken scratch on the "ticket" is rarely legible, and if there's any question, you get to pay twice for the same alteration. Bottom line, If you've got A lot of alterations on various clothes. I wouldn't go anywhere else for alterations. Pros: Perfect alterations, and excellent prices. They do not hassle you if you need more adjustment after something has been altered, just keep the receipt. Cons: Everyone is so right, you have to stand in front of everyone. So if you're more of a private person, do not come here. Also, they workers are very direct and to the point. There is no small talk, so if you're the type of person that wants to get on a personal level with the business people, again, don't come here. read more

I use Unique primarily for repairs of shorts, pants, and shirts. They do a good job for what seems to me to be relatively aggressive pricing. I brought a pair of hiking shorts in today that I love and have worn a lot for a long time that were beginning to pull apart in the lower rear end seam. They did a nice job of repairing it for $9. What a place for alterations! Based on the reviews here, and what I've seen first hand, a large volume of customers use Unique for their high quality, low cost jeans alterations, which is certainly what they are known for, but I would like to add my three cents around alterations of shirts. I've got a whole slew of funky/hard to find shirts (see my review of H.D.s, on lower Greenville as the source) that are usually perfectly suited to my build, but occassionally need a minor touch up, or with other shirts I've taken, major touch ups. For about $15, you can have the sides AND arms tapered, which still puzzles me. It probably doesn't hurt to have a legion of seamstresses in the back pulling double-time, but these folks know how to fit, alter and deliver in the expected time (they usually set the time frame at a week out, if you need it sooner, ask, if you need it MUCH sooner, plan better next time). Location update: to my near horror, I drove by location a few weeks ago and noticed the whole strip that housed Unique had been razed, however, they have moved down next to the Radio Shack, to what appears to be a larger location, in case you missed it! The best tailor I've found in Dallas (I miss you Norman, OK!) specifically for jeans....and pants while we're at it. They have two clean dressing rooms for an easy on site change. Once you come out with your garment of choice on, you just hop on one of the two slightly elevated surfaces and someone tends to you and has you pinned within seconds. For jeans, they ask if you're going to be wearing them with flats or heels (I once said... both? And they said no, thats not an option haha), and whether you want to keep the original hems. I've honestly never been offered this "keep the original hem" option before and will never go back now that I have. I believe it's $5 extra for this service on top of the $7 or $8 that pants cost on their own. Even if you tell them to take their time and that the next week is fine, they usually call within 24-48 hours saying your pants are done. I mayyy even go out on a limb and take a few bridesmaid dresses here this summer! read more

Time and time again, this is the best place to get things hemmed or altered. i.e. Jeans--They can hem in as fast as an hour for $4.99 and with the original hem of the Jean. If you care about that, you will know that most places will charge you extra for original hem. So, this in itself, is a great deal! On top of that, they do an excellent job with their alterations. I'm sure we all value our clothes and appreciate quality attention to them. At least I do! read more

These people are just amazing. I found about them by a jeans shop in Snyder Plaza - and wha hoo, - they're right. Hem your jeans for $5.00? In one day? How does it get better than that? Since finding them about three years ago I've abandoned two other tailor shops (sorry, Diana and Ken,) and have had alterations on everything from jeans to a couture suit, with 100% satisfaction. Parking is a bit sticky, especially since the liquor store next door encroached on the available space, and you'll be nuts to go on a Saturday morning if you can help it, but service is quick and efficient. Pay in cash for repairs under $10 - and use the tip jar if they're extra fast to get you boot scooting. read more

This place is absolutely amazing when it comes to tailors! I have been taking my alteration needs here for years now. It's located at the busy intersection of Mockingbird and Greenville. Parking can sometimes be tricking, but Unique has their own 2 spots up front which helps. The prices for alteration here are extremely affordable and the seamstresses are willing to work with you if you have a deadline. I took at dress up here once that I was wearing to a wedding 2 days later and had no problem getting my garment back in a timely manner. Also, I have a small obsession with designer jeans and all those with my same obsession understand that most high end jeans were fitted for tall people... i.e. models. I so very often have to have my jeans hemmed and Unique is the place I would ALWAYS go... they only charge $5.00 to shorten a pair of jeans and they will leave the cuff looking exactly as it did when you bought the pants. I highly recommend Unique Tailor. It's a great family business who does great work! read more

This is the first time I'm giving a tailor a bad review. I took my suit pants to get altered. First she skips the seam, doesn't check if it needs to be altered and then asks me how long I want my pants. That's a stupid question! I want them to be a perfect fit as their suit pants, duh! When I come to pick up the pants, you can tell obviously that they stitched the pants. I went immediately after noticing and they were rude when I brought it to their attention. I've been to many tailors, this is the first that I have had an issue! This damn tailor looked at me like this is "normal" but it certainly isnt, not based on my past experiences. Good and affordable for pants/jeans but they suck for sportcoats. I recently took a new suit here to have the pants hemmed and the jacket sides taken in. The pants came out fine. However, they botched one of the sides of the jacket; the fabric was pulling and tucked with lump at the seam. Even worse, they thought it was a good idea to mark initials with purple marker on the collar tag. So after taking it back to complain, they agreed to redo it and change the tag (manager claims the marking is so they know the work was done there). When I came back to pick it up the second time, the side stitching looks fine on the outside of the jacket, but the lining stitching looks terrible (all bunched up and crookedly sewn). The lady working there just says I know the lining looks bad, but the outside looks fine right? WTF?! They managed to wash the marker off the collar tag, but then sewed it back on off center AND crooked. I give up! There is *zero* quality control here. Or they just think shoddy workmanship is acceptable. My advice is to go to Harry's for any jackets or expensive clothing. read more

I had never taken my clothes to a tailor before, and decided to go here to get a jacket taken in and two pairs of pants hemmed. The jacket was the major piece I needed for an interview, but sadly unique tailor made it look awful. While they did take the arms and sides in, the chest and shoulders were disproportionate and they didn't do anything about it. My only option was to keep it the way it was or it would be too expensive. I will not be able to wear this jacket and don't want to spend more money on it, I wanted it to look good for what I paid! At least the pants turned out okay, but I would be concerned if a tailor couldn't do a proper hem. read more

I picked up my jeans 2 days later. Two of the four were "regular" hemmed at $4.99 each. The other two were altered with the original hem at $9.99 each. Both sets came out just fine -- the quality of the work will have me returning in the future. Just a note: The shop assistants will take your hemming order any way you like it. Knowing ahead of time exactly how you want your hems done will speed you right through the fitting (and perhaps spare you the few seconds needed to move your illegally parked car...ha). read more

Dang! This place is small but mighty. When I needed my suit altered ASAP, they didn't disappoint . They are usually packed, and you should expect to wait. However, it is very much worth the wait. They were able to alter my trousers and steam them plus my jacket in just a 2 1/2 day turn around. I was very happy to pay the five extra bucks. The staff member who was pinning and measuring also took the time to suggest alterations that would make it more fashionable. She was able to take my classic sear sucker suit and give it a more slim/trim look. I was ecstatic ! I will absolutely be using this place for all future alterations. When I picked it up, I was reminded to keep my pink ticket. If I had any redo or issues I would need to have it. The entire staff was happy and smiling. And the pricing is amazing! read more

I have never trusted anyone to hem or tailor my clothes except my mom. She lives near Seattle now, and I have been known to ship her my clothes to get altered. Or, I'll save up the stuff I need done, and pack it up to get the work done when I go visit. That being said, I bought a pair of slacks for work, and they were painfully long. After seeing the great reviews on yelp, I decided to give it a go. I stood in line on a Friday afternoon, changed, got the length pinned quickly, was given my ticket and promised my pants on Monday. When I went to pick up, there was only 1 other person in front of me. Sweet. I guess I wasn't paying attention though, because pants hemming is 8 dollars, not 5 like for jeans. I'll be honest that I didn't really understand that, because with no cuff, the pants are probably easier. Well I didn't have enough cash, and the girl working asked "do you want to come back?" Uh, no I do not...The man working told her to just swipe my card, so I was grateful. The hem job looks good and although I was scared at the pinning about the length, they came out perfect. I've found a new local joint for my hem needs and I'm glad. read more

I recently used Unique Tailor ( Next to Campisi's) to alter chiffon pants I wore to my son's wedding. The alteration was FAST and affordable for what they had to do. They had to take apart one pair of pants and add the chiffon to another pair of pants. The staff is friendly and they'll call you if they have any questions about your alteration before they work on it. I like that ! They must be doing something right...there's always lines out the door. The best time to go is @2-3pm during the week, if you can. After work & Saturday's are crazy! Parking can be tricky. read more

This place used to be great but they have gone downhill considerably. There is always a line out the door. Worse then that, they are incredibly rude and have awful customer service. They charged me a rush me of $10 for three days out! They never used to charge a rush fee unless it was for 1-2 days. I needed an item on a Friday and brought it in on a Tuesday and they said it would be a rush fee for three days for that week because they were down a person for that week. You don't offset the cost on the customer because of an internal problem and then yell at the customer for questioning the late charge and say they can go somewhere else. Additionally the rush fee used to be $5. She made up the $10 late fee because she knew I really needed these items. This rush fee policy is not posted anywhere in the store. If you want to be treated with respect as a customer and not have employees making up whatever kind of fees they want, DO NOT GO HERE. read more
