Hong Kong Tailor is awesome and very efficient! They are very busy but they will definitely have your items by the time they promise, usually a week. My husband and I went to get my wedding dress bustled and his dress shirts adjusted. The process is quick, you try in your clothes, she'll pin the clothes accordingly and will give you the prices. Do note: the times on the stub she gives you isn't correct. They open at 10 AM not 9:30 AM. They're also really busy, so they don't pick up the phone or call you to tell you your items are ready. My house burned down and I had to have all new jeans. I took in 9 new pairs of jeans and had to have all of them hemmed up After trying all of them and being measured, I felt confident that she would fix my pants. I returned to pickup my jeans. I then went to the apartment to start putting my jeans on, only to start crying. All of my Jean's were too short. They had been cut off and were entirely to short. At that point all I could do was cry and be angry for I had spent a lot of money that I didn't have, as I am elderly disabled person on a fixed income. Now every time I have to wear a pair of these jeans, I am reminded of how much I dislike them, even though I can't afford to replace them. Now winter is upon us and my ankles are very cold. She is amongst the best I have ever had I have taken more than 50 suits and Sport coats and at least 75 pair of pants to her over a 3 year period. I am extremely picky on tailoring and I have high standards when it comes to my clothes. She makes the clothes become one with your body. Not just make them fit. There is a difference that real fashion men and women truly understand. A little pricey but just slightly. However the quality of work in her shop is unmatched. I have went to many tailor and alteration shops over the last 30 years. I have probably been to 8 to 10 in that period. She may be the best or top 2 at the very worst. Highly recommended. To all my Lakewood yelpers: please drive the extra few miles to another tailor place (such as the one off mockingbird and greenville) instead of making a quick stop here. I was in the area a few weeks ago and needed to get a pair of jeans altered to wear the same evening. Because I am always doing things last minute I was already prepared to pay some extra money but definitely not ready for the experience I had. I walked in and a woman who was on her phone waved at me to come to her. I stood there for a good 5 minutes for her to finish her phone conversation about where she should go on vacation until she showed me a room where I could change my clothes. When I came out to get fitted she picked up a conversation with someone who walked in for over 10 minutes and offered to help them until they told her to help me first (duh!). She pricked me with a needle while fitting me and we had a conversation that went like this: Needle lady: "What are you?" Me: " I'm Laotian" Needle lady: "oh no! You look Mexican" Me: " oh yea I get that a lot " Needle lady: "Maybe you lose curvy you look Lao because Mexican girl more chubby" Me: "excuse me?! " Not only was she rude (this was not a private conversation, there were people waiting in front of us) but damn expensive! Here's a breakdown of my receipt: Jeans (original hem): $16 +$4 (same day) Cotton sun dress strap alteration: $7 Cotton long sun dress to be shortened: $12.95 What?! Most places I've been to charge 8-10 bucks AT THE MOST for this type of service and they are far more faster. It took a whole week for my other two items to be ready, what a rip. read more

Not only was she happy to do the job, but she let me have her 40% off coupon for Joann's Fabric Store so I could go purchase the fabric and materials. The final product was phenomenal and her attention to detail is the result of a true professional (and the turnaround time was only 2 weeks). Wonderfully helpful. She knows her stuff. I brought my jeans I got tailored at Nordstrom to her. Nordstrom had messed them up and done a basic job - the bare minimum without actually thinking the hemming through. She immediately knew what they had done wrong and told me what to tell the other tailor who ended up finally fixing it. She hemmed my other pants nicely. My mother-in-law recommended HKT for my wedding dress alterations, she had been going to Kathy for years. Kathy is very experienced and altered the bust of my gown to fit my petite torso, and she even added boning on the sides. A dedicated bridal alteration shop could've easily charged me several hundred dollars, and I paid less than $100. Kathy explained that she knew exactly how to fix the issue due to her years of experience, whereas an alteration shop charges so much due to the lack thereof. All in all, she spent less than an hour fixing my gown (but I agreed to pick it up within two weeks ) and it fit like a glove once she was done.
