Bea was professional, extremely skilled, and the turnaround time was very quick. The alterations for my wedding dress were perfect. My dress had a plunging neckline/back, and Bea thought of everything, including "a sit test" to make sure the dress did not gape with sitting. The bustle was simple but beautiful and functional with moving around. Although the alterations were pricey, the quality was well worth it. This review is waaaaaaay overdue but I wanted to make sure I got it done because Bea has done such wonderful work for me, that I am willing to drive the two hours to Dallas and back in order to get her professional touch on my clothes. If you spend your hard earned money on high end things, you want to be assured that they will fit you well and the quality of tailoring matches the quality of the clothes. If this sounds like you, look no further! Bea has altered various items for me, from pants to dresses to my wedding gown and everything has been immaculately altered and finished. I first brought a few trousers and jeans and I could tell that Bea is meticulous and a perfectionist, but also such a pleasant and generous person to work with. At the time we were still in the middle of the Covid pandemic and she had so many fun custom made face masks on display and after learning I worked in healthcare she graciously gifted me a few (that I always got complements on while working in the hospital!). My dog also loves her and always appreciated her treats! After seeing Bea's excellent work on my first few items I felt confident that she would help me look my best for my wedding and she truly delivered. I had three dresses altered, one for rehearsal dinner, one for reception and of course my wedding gown. She actually helped take my measurements for my wedding gown so the designer could make it, and lo and behold the gown fit like a glove. Bea did help to shorten the shoulder straps and train for better mobility and I felt so confident and beautiful wearing my gown! For my reception dress, I had a Rick Owens gown picked out, which has a lot of draping. Bea expertly altered the length while maintaining the complex draping at the back of the dress and even made a custom face mask out of the excess fabric. Talk about going the extra mile to make my experience so wonderful! Overall I can't say enough good things about Bea and her team. She also designs her own beautiful clothing! With a 3 month engagement, I brought Bea a dress I had inherited from a great aunt and adored. I needed her to let it out a 3-4 inches and she did a marvelous job with fabric I sourced from Richard Brooks. It looked as though the added panel was an intentional part of the dress. With the extra fabric a custom wrap was made and materials that was a sash went into my custom veil. She also did some minor but impactful alterations on my mom's mother of the bride dress. Everything about the process was amazing. Bea is more than a pleasure to work with and she is a true designer. Her staff are geniuses. I wasn't worried during any part of the process that she would capture my vision for my winter bridal look. If you need alterations or bespoke clothing. Start here. Time to complete is 10 days Depending on the type of shirts and the seams,Thus type of alteration runs anywhere between $26-56. Per shirt.) I have received quotes from 3 others in my area with great reviews this place is 2 to 3 times the price. While they may be exceptional for maybe for a wedding gown and your perfect day. When I had, with serendipity, said 'Yes to THE dress"* over a year ago while at a work conference down in ATX (*found dress at Blue Bridal Boutique), I knew I had plenty of time to research for a reputable seamstress in Dallas to alter my size 10 sample sale dress. Months later, I began my initial research on Yelp. Here is where I found The Fitting Room (TFR), among a few other tailoring shops that were carefully vetted. Even though TFR is pricey compared to the others, you are going to get your monies worth with Bea Harper. I chose this place not only because of superior quality in craftsmanship and attention to detail, but because of the convenient location (directly across from Wholefoods on Lemmon). The shop is merely a short distance from my office and I could make 3 or 4 trips for fittings during the middle of the week. Overall, scheduling my time during the week made my weekend schedule more flexible. If I had gone with the other stores, I would have wasted too much on time and gas. After working with her, I have to frankly say, Bea lives up to her reputation. To echo the other Yelp Reviews, she is a delight to work with; extremely professional, detail-oriented, and efficient. Her tailoring team is also top-notch too. There is a really sweet Vietnamese tailor who has been with her for over 10+ years. They seamlessly collaborated in making my dress exquisitely fit my petite frame. I hope to come back again and get future tailoring done at the Fitting Room. They did a good job tailoring my clothing; however I was treated as if I was intruding when I entered the store. Both times I was greeted rudely as if it was a bother for me to be there, giving them my money. I would prefer to take my business somewhere that does not treat me as a nuisance. I recently moved to Dallas and had no idea where to go to get quality alterations. I needed a bridesmaid dress altered for an upcoming wedding (6/15/19) and decided to turn to yelp. I requested a quote and got a very quick response from Bea. I went in for my first fitting and the dress needed more extensive work than I had thought. (The top was too tight on the dress (zipped but not comfortably), needed shortened, and straps sewn in.) Bea was very reassuring, and even though the price was higher than I had planned you really do get what you pay for! I dropped the dress off on 5/9 and picked it back up on 5/21. I am SO happy and relieved with the results!! They got it right the first time and you can't even tell where additional fabric had to be sewn in the top to make it work. I have a jacket that they only made 250 of and then the company went out of business. Needless to say, this was a very important piece of clothing to me and I didn't want to trust just anyone with the alterations. I brought a size 10 sample sale wedding dress here and Bea not only altered it perfectly to fit my size 2 body, but she did so quickly and professionally. She also designed a short pencil skirt for the reception that is better than anything I could have found elsewhere. I feel like Bea really took time to understand my tastes and style. Bea Harper has an innate understanding of her clientele and their needs. Her expertise runs from fitting or re-imagining an older outfit to the creation of complex garments. She has made two shirts for me incorporating fine lace items from the 1930's, inserted leather adornments to a cocktail dress, made a quilted tapestry for a bedroom and pieced old Venetian lace together for a curtain. Repairs to a 1930's rare silk Chinese wedding robe were impeccable. Bea added trim to a rain hood from an old fur stole, and it's simply terrific. Her staff is lovely and extremely competent. Wonderfully gifted and talented. My wedding dress has essentially been butchered at another Dallas tailor, and Bea and her team completely restored and reconstructed the entire dress. She meticulously reattached all the godets that had been torn off, hand-sewed missing sections of tulle that had been ripped out, reconstructed the cage bodice and adjusted the overlapping lace to lay perfectly as the original dress had been designed, correctly altered the length of the 8+ layers of tulle, and repaired tears in the train of the dress. The wedding dress was a 2015 Oscar de la Renta with lace backing (a large section which had been cut out against my express wishes at a different Dallas tailor); to my amazement, she had the exact lace to fill in the missing section in the back of the dress and restore the dress to its original condition. I would venture to say no other tailor in Dallas, or even the state of Texas, has the lace to complete this type of repair. The team at The Fitting Room has the talent, material resources, and capability to deliver any and all tailoring needs and get your clothing to look exactly the way you want.
