I could not be more thankful for picking Altered For the Altar for my wedding dress alterations! During my first appointment I was in the middle of having to postpone my original wedding date. The kindness that the AFTA team showed me during that appointment will never be forgotten! On my final alterations appointment, I noticed that I felt like the waist needed some adjusting and Ruth was so helpful and knowledgeable to let me know about adding in wiring to the bust area. I honestly expected to have to come back while they made the adjustment. But, no! Ruth quickly told me they would work on it right then and there and bring it back out! She poured me and my mom a glass of champagne and we were able to relax while they worked on my dress. We were so impressed and when they brought my dress back shortly after it was PERFECT! My dress fit and felt exactly how I imagined the day of my wedding. I will always recommend AFTA!

    The finished look.

It's been almost 6 months since I got to wear the perfectly altered wedding dress by Altered for the Alter. The dress: An Allure Bridal one of a kind. I was so blessed to find this little gem, off the RACK, on the very first day I went wedding dress shopping. This apparently was the only model in this style so what I saw was exactly what I walked home with - which meant that I would have to risk paying a lot of money to get it altered to my size. The details of this gown were ever changing, each time I tried it on I noticed details I hadn't seen before. I knew this had to be the one and I knew I had to find the best tailor in Dallas to get it just right. Ruth was an absolute DREAM!!! I had a scary experience with another tailor who took one look at my dress and told me there was nothing she could do about it. I was so terrified that I spent money on a dress that wasn't my size and that there would be no way to let it out. After I found Ruth's shop on Yelp, she took every concern I walked in with and from the moment I stepped into the dressing room she made me feel so calm and assured me that she could create something I would feel so beautiful in. Ruth was able to add in a corset to the back of the dress allowing it to fit my size perfectly!!! It's an intricately laced mermaid ivory-champagne bodice with a modest sweetheart neckline all sitting atop soft blush layers of tulle and the most beautiful train following every footstep. As you can see the details are insane so I have no idea how she did it! But I have recommended her to all my bride friends in the Dallas area and will continue to do so for years to come!! Throughout my entire wedding process, AFTA was the most professional with quality customer service, an incredibly efficient work ethic and a pristine waiting room and dressing room (comfortable for both the stressed brides and their supportive family and friends who visit). THANK YOU RUTH AND TEAM!

Ruth is precious and this shop treated me so well and made my day after visiting two places prior who were awful! They saved the day, it won't be cheap but it will be worth it! Thank you all for your kindness!

The team at Altered for the Altar is a machine in the best way possible! They took care of the alterations on my wedding dress for my October 2021 wedding and I really didn't have to do any work other than showup, put on my dress, and sip some champagne as they nipped, tucked, and pinned. I really had no idea what sort of alterations were needed on my dress, other than adding a layer of tuelle to the skirt, and the seamstresses knew EXACTLY what to do to make sure it was a perfect fit and that I would look my best in the dress! I am so thankful to her and the AFTA team for ensuring my dress looked perfectly on me so that it will be captured in pictures perfectly forever! I cannot emphasize enough what an efficient operation this team is and it is so helpful to have that level of professionalism brought to something that can be so emotional for so many!

Ruth, Rylee, & their team are seriously the best! They will always be real with you & customize your dress & accessories perfectly for your special day! My favorite part of my sessions are looking around the shop with a glass of champagne & speaking with the staff. They are always making me feel welcome. One of my sessions, I had a few too many plus ones tag along, & Altered for the Alter were able to accommodate them. I just love this place & they make me feel at home! I seriously can't wait to be back! Thanks for everything y'all do! Xoxo Jess

The BEST place to get alterations! The staff was so kind and helpful!! They went above and beyond to design a bustle that best fit my dress- and it stayed ALL NIGHT and did not rip the fabric or pull off any buttons!!

The tailors are nice and friendly. I believe they had good intentions but they didn't do a good job considering a 5-star rating. I paid almost $700 on two of my wedding dresses. Here's why. 1. They left a needle in my wedding dress (See attached photo). I should have checked the dress when I picked it up. However, leaving a needle in the pick-up dress was unacceptable regardless whether or not I have checked my dress. Too bad that I have signed the consent form that the dress was okay when I picked it up without checking it. 2. I ended up with 6 visits (5 for fittings and 1 for pick-up) because they didn't do the job right based on what we agreed upon and what I paid for. On my last alteration, my alteration stylist's mother had to alter my dress because her daughter was on honeymoon. 3. They didn't put new buttons on one of my two dresses that I requested and paid extra for until the fourth fitting visit (this dress was done after the third visit and I reminded them to change buttons every time). They only initially cleaned the buttons instead of changing the new ones which I was charged extra for. 4. They lost my designer tag (Mila Nova - Jeneva) and told me that it wasn't their fault. If it was attached to the dress, someone would keep it. Instead, the owner gave me another Mila Nova tag from a different style and size and said that this was the only one she had). I asked the person who helped me change the dress initially whether or not I could leave the tag on and she said yes because everything would be kept as is). I told them on my first visit that I needed the original tag kept because I planned to sell my dress. If the owners read this comment and have any issue or concern, please let me know because everything I said was true.

Beyond impressed with this team and the store owner!! Quick, efficient, champs ready at every fitting, and the perfect alterations for my much loved wedding dress. I would suggest them to every bride. THANK YOU!!!

The location was great and I love the set up of the shop- trendy, modern with old fashion excellent service! So happy with the results and my experience! .

I LOVE a&bé bridal, but Alexi E. is out-of-this-world incredible. Alexi reached out at the beginning of February (my appointment was at the end of February) to introduce herself, gather initial information about what I was looking for, and get to know me. She instantly made me feel at ease opening up to her. I was anxious as this was my first time trying on dresses. Alexi was so kind and understanding. I shared that I did not want to know my measurements, and she completely respected my wishes the day of my appointment. On the day of my appointment, she made me feel like the most important woman there and the most beautiful human. She found my dress on the first try (I kid you not), but allowed me the space to try on others. She never pushed me or rushed me. She allowed me to try it on again at the end of my appointment, with it completely done up (veil, flowers, sleeves). It was truly one of the easiest shopping experiences I've ever had. I attribute a lot of that to Alexi; she is such an amazing person! Everyone at the salon, though, was kind and welcoming. I am sure every other stylist is just as great! The parking out front was not an issue for me; however, it is mentioned in their email when you book your appointment, so keep that in mind. I felt the price of the dress was very good. It is raw silk - so it has a texture to it, and it is so unique. But we did not pay over the top for what I got. I cannot wait for my wedding. Thank you, Alexi and A&Be!

Absolutely five stars…read more After getting engaged, I started looking into bridal shops around DFW to get a feel for designers and pricing. When it was time to book appointments, I chose five shops close to home and visited them all within two days. Even before stepping foot in the door, I had a strong feeling A&Be (and shout-out to their sister shop Anna Bé) would be where I found my dress. From the way they showed up online to how warm they were over the phone--I just knew. And as it turns out, I was right. I was paired with Gabby--my stylist, my hype girl, my Queen. From the moment we met, she made me feel comfortable, heard, and totally at ease. I had a list of dresses I wanted to try, and she had them ready to go. No pressure, no rushing--just genuine support and guidance. I didn't say yes that day. I left with a lot to think about, tried on dresses at the other shops, and gave myself a couple of weeks to let it all settle. But even with so many beautiful options, nothing felt quite right. So I reached back out to Gabby and asked to come in again--this time with a clearer idea of what textures, shapes, and feelings I was after. She welcomed me back with the same joy. And when I told her I wanted to try Cosette by Rue De Seine, she smiled and said she knew that was going to be the one. She had connected all the dots from our first appointment, and somehow, she just felt it. If you're thinking about booking with A&Be: do it. And if you're lucky enough to get Gabby, you'll be in the very best hands.

I showed up on time for my appointment on a weekday afternoon (not typically a peak time), was shopping by myself since my family lives out of town, and tried on a number of dresses before it became clear they didn't have "the dress" for me so we ended the appointment a little early. There was nothing extra provided here - just someone to help you try on dresses as it is at every bridal salon, a dressing room, and a mirror. After the appointment, I noticed my credit card was charged $27.06. I figured it was an oversight so I emailed them to get it reversed, and they informed me that's not a deposit - that's what they charge customers to shop here and refused to refund it. I never would have made an appointment had I realized I would be charged to shop here, and it seems like a shady practice to charge brides to shop at your store. Before it even came to my attention that I had been charged for my appointment, I told my fiancé this was the one place I would not consider going back to since I felt like I was there to buy a used car, not my wedding dress. I was repeatedly asked what was keeping me from buying today and was told that there would be a discount only if I bought my dress there that day. The couple other salons I've been to have not pressured me at all to move forward that day and have told me to sleep on it and come back to try my favorite dress on again to make sure it's the right dress for me since buying your wedding dress is a special thing and not something you should feel pressured into.
