I'm new to the area and gave this place a try based on the reviews. I will not be coming back. Disappointed in the quality of her work. You'd think have many years she'd be better. Also extremely overpriced. I wish i saw a review like this before trying so hope this helps save someone a trip and $$! read more

Eta is the real deal. She altered a bridesmaid's dress for me and did a beautiful job. I'm having her alter my next bridesmaid's dress as well! My dress needed to be hemmed, and the bodice needed to be brought in significantly, with alterations to the neckline as well. Eta immediately assessed what needed to be done, and she was meticulous yet quick on measuring and pinning. The result was outstanding. As a plus, she is a delightful and warm person, and I felt totally comfortable with her. I can't recommend her more (but also kind of want to gatekeep her haha). read more

Quick and always the best ! You must make an appointment . Keep that in mind for best experience .

Nice person. Not great with taking in waistbands for her professional level. I expected a much better outcome.

She quoted me $35 for a basic hem on straight pants, and then said she could suggest other tailors that are cheaper. Enough said.

Martha is great at what she does and a pleasure to meet with. I was getting a bridesmaid dress altered for an upcoming wedding and she did a great job and had a quick turnaround as well! read more

We've followed Eta for decades. She is skilled, thoughtful, and talented. There has not been a piece she could not make fit like a glove. I am particularly hard to fit and my husband is very tall. Eta keeps up looking well dressed and we very much recommend her expertise. read more

I've taken probably 20 items to Martha's over the last year or two and all have been treated with care and skill. Most especially, Eta took such great pains with my rehearsal dinner outfit. It could not have been more perfectly tailored. She used multiple appointments to get it just right and clearly cared so much about the result. read more

Martha's Alterations - Both dresses altered by Eta - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Dallas, Texas

I went to go see Martha Alterations for my wedding dress and I walked up to the door AFTER calling and getting a busy signal. So I pulled UP, she proceeded to ignore me and not answer the door as I went back to my car I waited to see if someone else would come and to my surprise someone else did. That someone else was a Caucasian female who couldn't even make it up the stairs before ms Martha answered and opened her door to her. Someone explain THAT. This place is not for the blacks. read more

Eta knows her stuff! i brought in a Tom Ford suit with very challenging lines (a wide peak lapel with a dramatic curve). she was able to make the suit fit extremely well, while maintaining both freedom of movement and integrity of the design. to do so, she went through two jacket iterations and three pants iterations. not only does Eta know what *to* do to clothes, she knows what* not* to do, and will advise against unreasonable changes (in my case, shortening the length of the jacket. it'd make the wide lapels look imbalanced!). i also had seven dress shirts tailored across several brands/cuts. with an athletic build, even the slimmest fit dress shirts aren't slim enough. other tailors i've tried produce a shirt that spreads along the button line when moving shoulders/chest. Eta was able to edit each shirt to be form-fitting, while miraculously allowing movement. finally, talking with Eta during the tailoring process is a delight. she's exceptionally kind and caring. read more

I went to Martha's for alterations on my grandmother's wedding dress. My grandmother was 6 ft tall and as thin as a broomstick, so my 5'6" self needed help. Martha did an amazing job with my dress (for an incredibly low price!) and it fit me perfectly for my wedding day. She even tailored the dress without cutting it, so none of the vintage fabric would be lost. She understood the importance of this dress, and treated it with the utmost care. I would trust her with anything vintage. She does an amazing job. Her work is impeccable, but her kindness and love for her customers is why she deserves more than 5 stars. I felt like I was going to my grandmother for alterations. She was so excited about my wedding and so supportive. This was especially meaningful to me as a LGBTQ+ bride. She didn't have a word to say about my now-wife, except that she was happy for us. read more

Forever grateful for this place! I had my baby shower March 18th, needed someone to fix my jumpsuit from a rip on the back waistline. I took it in the morning around 10 and they had it ready for me by 1pm! It was perfect, so happy we found this place read more

I looked at the reviews that people gave 1 star. Mostly was price. I could care less about the price for how amazing of a job she did. Sure one place may do the "same" job for cheaper, but they're just going to take it and start altering it and be done with it. Eta on the other hand will make it where your item is yours. It's not anyone else's. It fits your body perfectly. Not too tight, not too loose. She is doing an outstanding job and I would recommend her before I even received my final product. She did an outstanding job measuring, finding what I wanted, having me come back to see if I like how it looked, asking questions, seeing that I am active in my calves so she would make adjustments that would allow me to get more use out of my pants. Seriously, please take the chance and visit her as you won't regret it once you start getting compliments on your item. I literally went to work immediately after picking up my items (and chose to wear them) and was complimented not just by my coworkers but an actual customer too. read more

Dress to impress, yo! And no, I refuse to make an Edna Mode comment (although I do love The Incredibles). Make sure all of your suits and dresses are form fitted by visiting Mrs. Eta at Martha's Alterations. I cannot recommend her work enough. Plus, in addition to doing a fantastic tailoring job, Mrs. Eta is just such a delight to see and talk to. Love her. I came in with 2 suits that needed to be tailored, with one of them being an outfit I needed the following weekend for a wedding. After some meticulous measurements and getting to feel like a prince from a drama (:D), *wind blowing my hair* *slow mo close up of my face* Mrs. Eta worked with me closely on what she thought would look best for my suits on my body, and figured out a good schedule for me to revisit the suits before my big day (^^). Thank you so much for being so prompt! For everyone else, I would say definitely give yourself a 2 week window for any work you wanted done, especially if it is something more complicated than a cuff/pant leg job! All this was done at a very reasonable price of $50. Mrs. Eta is also an amazing person in general. If you just took a few moments to speak with her, you will realize she has a great life story to share with you. She will always will greet you with the warmest hug and make sure you are satisfied with your outfit. Thank you so much, Mrs. Eta. You the best. :) read more

Martha is a doll! She is quick, and really knows what she's doing. I came to her with a turn around time of only 3 or so days. She squeezed me in , and had my dress altered in time before my event. I am so thankful I found her, and will be back again soon! read more

Martha did a wonderful job and my dress and I'll definitely go back if I need anything else done!

Martha's does a good job! She's very flexible with scheduling and had my dress ready when she said she would. A little pricy but the fabric of my dress wasn't the easiest to work with. I'll be taking my clothes back here for sure! read more

Martha is THE BEST. I was in such need to have a dress altered for my daughter in very little time. Not only did Martha help me, but she did so with so much warmth and friendliness that my daughter and I fell instantly in love with her! Precious lady and I highly recommend her! Nothing is too difficult or complicated for Martha! read more

Yea her work is good. But she values her time way to highly and isn't transparent about cost upfront. I will not be going back to her, I didn't feel I should have paid 175$ to take in the waist and hem a dress. Very disappointed in how her business is conducted. read more

Martha is the sweetest lady and takes such special care of all of her clients. She did an amazing job on both of my gowns and paid great attention to the detail and my requests. She even used the extra fabric from my gowns to make matching masks!!! Will never go to anyone else for my alterations! read more

This review comes a bit late because of travel and just my overly busy schedule. I got married a year ago overseas and had my wedding gown altered at Martha's Alterations. Let me tell you, Eta is a miracle worker. I had my dress delivered about 4 sizes too big and ugly as war. With not enough time or money to get a new wedding gown, I took my dress here and Eta not only altered my dress to fit but it also looked gorgeous by the time she was done with it. Through tears and fittings that I thought were futile she kept her sense of humor and scheduled me in as much as possible. She went above and beyond the call of duty. Bless her and her talents! I haven't been in Dallas long enough since the wedding to visit but I plan to as soon as I am able! Thank you again, Eta for making my dress, beautiful. I plan to post photos of the dress and come in to visit as soon as my schedule permits. If you are on the fence about coming in or worried about your beautiful garments being altered DO NOT. This woman works miracles and is such a pleasure! read more

Ms. Martha did an awesome job on my wedding dress, my maid of honor and my mother in law's dresses. She had such great tips and unique tricks to make anything look stunning! A true gem with lots of hugs and I love yous lol. My sister and I have gone back already and will continue to! Would recommend her to anyone. Unless they don't like hugs lol. read more

I recently lost 100+ pounds and my wardrobe has been in overhaul status since last October. I took a few pieces to Martha's that I couldn't bear to part with. I am currently a size 4 and all of the clothes I took were size 12 or larger. Eta worked a miracle! Everything fit and nothing looks "altered". I am very impressed. I'm 5"4 and I alter everything. Eta is the best in Dallas. Before going to Martha's I was a regular at Harry's Tailor Shop. Eta is better and her prices are amazing. Keep in mind she doesn't take credit cards so have a check or cash ready when you pick up. You get quality work without the arrogance of some other local shops. She very easy going and very humble. I forgot about the clothes and went to get them 2 months later and she remembered me. I recommend her to everyone. If you want more info about Eta check out the article in the Dallas Morning News. http://www.dallasnews.com/lifestyles/headlines/20130302-dallas-life-the-owner-of-marthas-alterations-in-dallas-a-transylvanian-immigrant-worked-her-way-up.ece read more

Excellent customer service and quality work. I will be using this tailor for a long time to come.

Its a little hard to find if you don't know what you are looking for, cute little house on Lovers Lane with a circle driveway. I took seven pairs of jeans to be altered after loosing some weight and the service was fantastic! The seamstress was very nice and sociable, and quick with getting the measurements done and me off to work on time. I picked up the pants today and they fit perfectly. I feel like I have a brand new wardrobe! I couldn't even tell the pants had been altered by looking at them. I will use them again for any alterations I need done. read more

She is a lifesaver! She took a bridesmaid dress from impossibly small to a perfect fit in a week! She is literally a magic worker - I don't know what I would have done otherwise. Sweetest lady ever, to top it off! Truly a hidden gem. Keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss it! I will forever take everything to Martha's Alterations - no questions asked, darling! Ps - I second the comment about Edna Mode. If you're a fan of the Incredibles, she is the real life incarnation of Edna! read more

I was extremely pleased with her alterations on multiple on my work blazers. I would 100% use her again!

I know Eta will never read this but the world needs to know that this woman is a complete treasure! She's the sweetest, warmest woman in the world and sounds just like Zsa Zsa Gabor, dahling :) I was in a bit of a bind and needed my wedding dress hemmed one week before I was set to leave for my destination wedding. A friend's daughter referred me to Martha's, as she'd taken a formal gown there in the past for an emergency alteration. Eta, the owner, worked total magic on the hem and fashioned the most beautiful French bustle on my designer gown. I can't wait to bring other clothing to Martha's Alterations. I know that the work will be masterful and look absolutely perfect, no matter the deadline. read more

Eta saved my wedding day. Two weeks before my wedding, I received my wedding dress from an alterations place in my hometown- completely botched and ill fitting. A friend told me about Martha's Alterations and I called her crying. She met with me multiple times to help restore my dress to its full glory. She is a miracle worker- with an absolute heart of gold. I am beyond thankful to have found her. My dress fit perfectly and looked better than it ever had on my wedding day. read more

Have you ever seen The Incredibles? Remember Edna Mode? This is her, only taller. No joke. I had a very unique situation. I have been preparing a detailed and realistic costume for Comic-Con in San Diego. First, I had the cape made somewhere in Wisconsin, it took them 6 attempts and they still only got it sort of right (that was after I had to hand pick fabric to send them). Then I took it to yet another local tailor who only sort of fixed it. Then there was the problem of the upper body armor. This piece started as a motorcycle jacket that was dyed and modified to the nth degree and I knew alterations to this needed to be done by someone who really knew what they are doing. Thank goodness for yelp, I needed the best, and yelp helped me find her. She altered the upper body armor and cape perfectly, (something the others failed at). She took the time needed to do the job right. She cares about her work very much, and surprisingly, she charges very little to do so. I am a very picky guy, and can be a bit of a perfectionist, especially in situations like this, and for my best suit for the next ComicCon, I am headed straight to her. read more

She work is beautiful (men's suit alterations) and she is also just such a nice person.

Does absolutely amazing work. I stopped getting my suits fitted and altered at Neiman's and Nordstrom(free when you buys a suit there) just so I can start having her fit them for me. Yes I pass up complimentary alterations at Neiman's for her work. Has never disappointed and has always over delivered on all of her promises. There is no suit too expensive, too fragile or too complicated for her to tailor. Besides that, I've become great friends with her. read more

Literally the sweetest lady you ever did meet!! She will make you wish you had more things you needed tailoring for because she's just so sweet and great with customers. Parking is tricky bc there's so many small businesses along lovers with limited parking for each. If her lot is full I just park around the corner and walk. Also: if you've seen The Incredibles she will definitely remind you of Edna Mode #loveher read more
