I had the most amazing experience working with Annette to tailor my wedding dress. She was kind, professional, experienced, and did an amazing job! After another tailor in Austin ruined my first dress, I rushed to Dallas to find a dress designer or tailor who could fix it. Unfortunately it was too far gone. Annette is amazing. I visited a few tailors for my dress and ultimately chose Annette because she was so personal and had the best solves for making my dream dress a reality. I am tall and had a bought a sample dress which needed a bit of length for my shoes, Annette steamed my dress to add an additional 2 inches in length, while all other tailors suggesting adding lace to the bottom. Truly the worst experience I could have imagined as a bride. I actually waited months to post this review to make sure I wasn't being rash or emotional. I am not - this is poor craftsmanship and she is not professional. I went to Annette because my sister used her for wedding alterations and was happy. Unfortunately my experience was far from pleasant. Annette was rude, responded days to weeks after I contacted her for my initial appointment, follow ups, etc. and didn't do the work she promised. She was extremely disrespectful and rude. She made disrespectful comments about my body which no one wants when trying on a wedding dress. While I was in the middle of a fitting a woman from a local bridal shop (actually the one where I bought my dress) came in and she immediately switched her persona to be bright and cheery. I wish this had been my experience as well but she went right back to being rude as soon as the woman left. I had to make multiple unplanned visits to have some basic mesh added because she "forgot" to do it in between original appointments - even though that was the only thing I needed her to do. She also failed to sew in my monogram as I asked her to do on multiple occasions. This resulted in me not having it sewn in on my wedding day. My alterations we so minimal and she couldn't even get that right. I had puckering that should never have been in the fabric for what I paid for her services. I hesitated leaving a review but after several weeks I am still sad about my experience and I'd like to let other brides know so they can make a different decision. Annette made multiple unkind comments about my body throughout this process. During the initial call she asked for my size and when i told her she said, "are you going to lose weight?" ... do you ask all your brides that? When I came to pick up my dress, she seemed to have forgotten about our pick-up time and even had forgotten who I was (it was my third time there). I reminded her of my name and she went to get my dress and said "you don't need to try it on. Do you have your veil so I can steam it?" I did and I handed it to her. It is a cathedral veil, so it's very long. She gave me grief and asked why hadn't I given it to her at previous appointments (I had brought it every appointment. She never asked.) and said "I'll see if I can make a miracle happen between appointments. You may have to wait a bit." As if I wasn't one of her appointments... so I told her "no problem, I'll go to the donut shop next door" to buy some time and grab her something and before I could get out another word she told me "you should not be eating donuts or you won't fit into your dress." I said "I was going to ask if you'd like one..." she replied "no. I don't want anything." The top of my dress was big and I asked her if she could tighten it. She said I would have to use tape. I'm paying $500, and you're telling me I need to tape my dress to my skin? I was supposed to have her steam my dress again after my bridal portraits but I didn't go back because I had left in tears at the last appointment. I steamed it myself. I would not recommend her. Find someone another seamstress who is positive and uplifting and KIND. Getting your dress fitted should be a wonderful experience. read more

I went somewhere else to get my wedding dress altered, it cost a fortune, I had been recommended the other place as the best place to get Berta dresses altered. Boy was that wrong! Fast forward 4 months, I went in to other said place for my fitting I left upset my dress didn't fit me at all. It bunched terribly around my stomach. With less than a week until I left for my destination wedding someone encouraged me to get a second opinion. I found Annette on yelp. Friday morning I showed up with my mom as she opened- I was in a panic. Not only did Annette let me try on my dress for my second opinion, she insisted on fixing it overnight so I didn't have to move a single appointment and I could leave on time for my wedding 36 hours later. Annette is so sweet, so kind, and talented, and my dress now fits perfectly. Summary: go nowhere else to get your wedding dress altered and give yourself at least two months to get it altered. Annette is a miracle worker. I fell in love with my dress in the salon but it needed a lot of work to make the fit just right. I'm larger in the bust area than I am anywhere else, so it was decided that I would order my dress 3 sizes too big so that there was enough fabric for Annette to make the necessary alterations around the bust. What she ended up doing was essentially remaking the dress. She listened to every concern I had, she was meticulous in her pinning and fitting, and her calm demeaner didn't leave any room for stress or worry. I have no idea how she could look at what the dress was and see what it should be, but she did.
