Inner Sunset

I use this place regularly and have for more than the last 10 years or so. I'm leaving this review…read morejust as a counterweight to the endless bad reviews this place seems to be getting. I like using this place. It's the same couple young workers there all the time. They don't remember me and that's fine. They just deal with an endless line of people all day long sending packages, making copies, or shipping back returned items. It's the same repetitive routine with them having to keep explaining the same instructions and corrections because we don't do this every day like them. Are they incredibly friendly and customer service oriented - not exactly but they do get you what you need to know and try to get you along on your way. This is not the kind of place where people would want to ooh and ahh and leave an A+ review because it was so great, or something. So all they seem to get are lousy reviews from people that were frustrated. That's not fair. They will try to help. One time, i recall, the fellow (i guess "erik" per other review comments) even was really kind and just paid for my fax fee himself because I'd forgotten to bring anything with me in rushing out to catch them just before they closed. Anyways, many thanks to you folks there at the irving str ups store for always being there and putting up with all of us all day long day after day. (Oh yes, and the self service kiosk where you can just scan the UPS return shipping QR code and print out your own shipping label is just da bomb...)

They made it VERY easy and the price was VERY affordable. They performed the whole thing for me in under 10 minutes for start to finish. I was very grateful for the fast friendly guy who helped me. I'd happily got back for any of their services.

TLDR - consistently awful person and service…read more The man who usually works here speaks softly and has the gentlest "energy" But for the umpteenth time I had the weirdest interaction. I gave him a document to notarize. He asked where the rest was. Omitting details for brevity, but I explained myself. He immediately escalated by asking why I was being difficult. I disagreed with the premise and pointed out that I was literally holding *all* papers out for him to grab. Instead of noticing and focusing on the actual task/service, he was more interested on "winning". I turned around and was bummed we didn't have an audience. Very similar things have happened in the past when I've asked simple questions and he just creates friction and unavoidable conflict. Hate to be an armchair psychologist but this delusional man - operating under the guise of charm - needlessly turns basic interactions (e.g. "just dropping off, where do I put this box?" or "hey can you help me with this label issue?") into degrading, gaslight-ey situations claiming the opposite of the the objective, visible truth while it is happening. Pattern behavior, not a one-off instance. Passable place if you don't need to interact? ‍

I just had one of the most pleasant experiences I believe I have ever had visiting a post office…read more The person helping me out, Mustafa, seriously is one of the nicest, most helpful people. Greeted with a smile as people walk in and was so incredibly upbeat, just the vibe alone in that place truly elevates your day. I hope he is there for the long haul because that man really loves his job.

I just…read moremoved to the neighborhood so I don't know what it used to be back on their glory days, if they had any, but there's always only one person working behind the counter and you know most government employees have to abide by the speed efficiency to sloth level, unless if they're SFMTA meter maids. I decided to open a mailbox with them and in 2 months having one, they lost my packages twice already. There's no accountability cause every person you talked to would just say 'Oh it's not me who worked that day' We showed on one of our tracking receipts who received/signed for the package and conveniently that person has retired but somehow their name was still in the system and being used. I understand maybe it's not specifically 'you' that lost my package but you happened to be the person I'm talking to and you're wearing the uniform that represents that government entity you're working for, so have some accountability and pride in what you do. It's frustrating when you lost your valuables and all they could say "Oh it's not me. It's not my fault. I don't know. Check your address." This branch is very much neglected and they just keep rotating people who work here. Most of them can't really help you with anything more than shipping your packages or selling stamps. No other services provided here. I don't even know why people still want to wait in line just to mail something. I'd recommend invest in a cheap printer and just print your label at home, or a couple blocks from there you can go to a mail and photo service on Haight and Masonic. They also have mailbox service. It might be a bit more expensive than the USPS but it's better managed and not having the constant fear of losing your packages is worth it!
