Are you kidding me? Sooo not 4.5 star experience for me. Super happy I was able to get rid of my mailbox today after I wasted a half hour stressing about going in because I HATE going there so much! Pro: They have mailboxes. They have a notary. There are possibly 2 very nice employees. It would be great if their schedules were posted somewhere so you'd know when to go. They are conveniently located (muni stop in front) They are open when they say they'll be open. Cons: Those people are total aholes. They have arbitrary stupid rules they randomly tell you when they just don't want to do something. Whoohoo I'm done with them forever!! No more incredibly mean comments! This review has been a long overdue. We have been with P.O plus for over 8 years even before the Pandemic, it has been the best investment and value of our money for our privacy and safety and peace of mind of our mail and precious packages especially when we are traveling or not at home. Not only they go the extra mile of helping you with any mail questions you have, they offer notary services, international mail service, dropping off of packages and much more and the key benefit is not worrying that our packages might be stolen. We love seeing happy people that works there and even in their busiest day they are professional and courteous and helpful. won't accept Fedex ground packages. Owner told us that they cannot accept our packages unless its before 2PM, what sort of made up BS policy is this? I didn't know that Fedex allows its contractors to make up random policies because they feel like it. read more

I normally choose to use PO Plus in the Castro as opposed to the post office as the service at PO Plus has always been great. Today I went in and it that service was nowhere to be found. In a nutshell 2 rude, uninterested staff members who apparently have zero desire to actually help customers. Their idea of assisting me was to wave their hands at the wall when I asked what kind of packaging I would need; and when I returned to the counter their lack of interest continued when they tossed scissors at me when I asked for them. The final nail in the coffin was when I asked them to look at the return shipping label instructions that weren't clear to me and the guy's answer was "Oh I don't know what you need." So I just paid for the shipping envelope and left. I won't be using their services again for the foreseeable future. read more

The service here is fine but their prices for shipping are a bit too inflated. After shipping an item with them via UPS Ground, I decided to look up the actual cost on the UPS website (using the exact info P.O. Plus used) and found that the P.O. Plus charged me almost twice the cost. I shipped an item with them earlier in the year as well and thought the price seemed a bit high but didn't look into the details. I understand the cost of business in San Francisco is expensive but almost doubling the cost is a bit much. If you're in a pinch, and need something shipped, P.O. Plus is a serviceable operation but you can definitely save money by shipping with other businesses in the city. read more

Wow! Just. Wow. The incredibly skilled, creative, and friendly PO Plus folks earn more than five stars in my book. I am a repeat customer. Ten years ago, they packaged and shipped my clavichord from San Francisco to Brooklyn. When it arrived, my roommate filmed the unveiling because, as she said, "These guys know how to pack." The delicate instrument was double boxed in TWO hand-crafted boxes. Nary a dent on the interior box. The clavichord was still in tune. It was reasonably priced and such a relief to find a place that knows what they are doing and do it well. Today, I went back to PO Plus ship two framed calligraphic pieces to Wisconsin. Same people. Same level of attention to detail, friendliness, competence, and skill. I have complete confidence that all items shipped here will be in impeccable condition upon arrival. I certainly cannot say that for other shipping services. I have also stopped in to purchase fun cards and print files. Three cheers for PO Plus. read more

Let's start at the beginning - I handed a very nice gift bag with an extremely nice card inside that I intended for my niece to keep ... the guy took the bag and rolled it up, therefore damaging the card. As her graduation was days away, I grimaced and continued with the send. Had to flatten everything out and box it myself. Price seemed high, but I was in a hurry. Now the package is lost, I called and the staff person didn't know how to read the tracking and didn't know what to do. I had to ask for someone to call me and suggest he take my number ... I just had an usually poor experience there. A little after nine am, i walked in and tried to blow a photo up on b&w xerox machine. It didn't work. " I think I just wait till your free", I said to the lone clerk. " You're on your own with that", he responded, " I dont know anything about that machine" Gave him a quarter to cover my bad copy. The gentleman who helped me open my box 1.5 years ago was really friendly and helpful. The location is central, clean, and I love the texts you get when your package arrives. It's great to know my mail is safe with P.O. Plus. I would recommend them. There is one staff member who is very rude and condescending to people when they enter. At first I thought he just decided to hate me off the bat just for the sport and joy of acting superior to someone else. After observing him over the years I realize he is only nice to certain people. I dread when I go in there and I see he is working. I was in San Francisco a few weeks ago and needed to get something notarized. I called on Friday late afternoon and was told I could come in Saturday morning after 10. Showed up at 10:15 only to find the notary was not in. Had to quickly find another solution to get a notary. Long story short. Don't tell your customers a notary is available when they are not. read more

I used to love this place and used them several times a year for pack-and-ship...for years and years. The employees were efficient and friendly. Over the past year or year-and-a-half, the attitude toward customer service has become lackadaisical and there always seem to be about five employees around while only one helps customers. In a low-margin business in the middle of an economic downturn and pandemic, you'd think there would be an adult in charge. PO Plus used to be top notch, but I guess ownership changed and with it, the mindset. On my last visit, the guy managing the queue to get inside was incredibly haughty and unclear in his directions (and, strangely, kept referring intently to his clipboard for no apparent reason). The clerk helping me kept getting distracted by side conversations with coworkers and so a (should have been) three-minute interaction stretched to over ten minutes - he repeatedly kept literally turning completely away from what he was doing to complain to his colleague for like a minute at a time. And no "welcome back or "good morning" or "how's it going" -- just "what do you need today." Yes, I'm 58, so courtesy counts. On top of all that, I was told my shipment via FedEx would be going out that afternoon, but I could tell from the online tracking that it didn't go out until the next day, hence the arrival was a day later than expected. Though my shipment was not terribly time-sensitive, I find it irritating that the clerk at a shipping store couldn't accurately provide that very basic information. I like the idea of taking my business to local places, but I'll be heading to the FedEx-Kinko's henceforth. They're friendlier and more focused on their jobs. It feels like PO Plus needs a good, solid operations manager on site, that is actually paying attention to the customer experience. read more

Had to ship a camera lens halfway across the country and really, really did not trust USPS to provide the necessary service or assurance for that cause so I came to P.O. Plus. I was greeted by Paul who took the necessary measures to ensure that the lens would be protected. He literally pulled out a measuring tape and chose the box just snug enough to give it that extra protection. Yes, I did pay significantly more here than I would have had I gone with Flat Rate Shipping from USPS, but at least I left with peace of mind. Oh, and I got to play with Tucker, so yeah. :) read more
