I run a small photo business out of my garage and have had a mailbox here for some 4 years already…read more They've always taken care of my mail and packages and said a friendly hello whenever there's no line. I probably have the smallest box size, but they take my biggest packages - light stands, flash heads, etc. No fuss, no airs, just reliable and good service. I'm typically in and out in 20 seconds if there's no package. It's a plus for whenever I go on vacation and redirect my mail there. No more lost/stolen packages! Total bummer about the lack of outbound FedEx, but personally, I think it's no hassle to print my own label and drop it off at Sloat. The lines are really slow at FedEx Sloat, actually. 15 mins wait or more just to grab a pickup - I think it's a good reason to extend service here. Just a suggestion for the owners - consider some way of adding a sensor to each box that indicates whether a box has mail/packages, notifies the customer. That way, us customers can save a few trips.

If they're going to be closed all day they'll email you, but if they're closing for several hours in the middle of the day there's only a sign on the door, so you end up making a trip and putting money in a parking meter for nothing.

TL;DR: more than you can imagine. I went in yesterday needing a passport photo, a photocopy, and a notary service on a Federal form. I was able to get all three in one place. At first I tried a photo place on Clement but they were closed for vacation, so I was happy to learn Balboa could do all three. The man behind the counter was quick and detail-oriented. For example the person in front of me was shipping something across the country and he had her double-check the mailing address and they found an error. When it was my time for the passport photo, he was very attentive to the lighting, my head position, even asking me to square my shoulders so the photo would be accepted. Not the old DMV "look at the dot - boom" photo shoot. Since it is a one-person operation, and the transactions are not simple, things take a little time. I had to wait a few minutes, and my stuff took about 10m more, in the meantime a small line formed behind me. But everyone there needed help that took several steps to complete. There a package drop-off area for people who produce their own labels and postage, those customers were in and out in seconds. Small shops like the BBC are the heart of a neighborhood, making these few blocks on Balboa a special enclave where you can eat, drink, see a movie, do yoga, and get your business done. It increases the walkability of the Outer Richmond in a way that a giant Kinkos would not.

I recently joined a clothing rental service called Nuuly and I was hoping for a quick way to ship the clothes back without going to the post office. I went inside Post and Parcel to inquire and I saw another Nuuly bag that was ready to ship out. I had a packing slip and was in and out within a minute. Everyone who works here is so nice.
