I often use them for package drop offs for FedEx and UPS. But they offer other services too. I used them last week for a notary service on some legal documents. They made it VERY easy and the price was VERY affordable. They performed the whole thing for me in under 10 minutes for start to finish. I was very grateful for the fast friendly guy who helped me. TLDR - consistently awful person and service The man who usually works here speaks softly and has the gentlest "energy" But for the umpteenth time I had the weirdest interaction. I gave him a document to notarize. He asked where the rest was. Omitting details for brevity, but I explained myself. He immediately escalated by asking why I was being difficult. I disagreed with the premise and pointed out that I was literally holding *all* papers out for him to grab. Instead of noticing and focusing on the actual task/service, he was more interested on "winning". I turned around and was bummed we didn't have an audience. Very similar things have happened in the past when I've asked simple questions and he just creates friction and unavoidable conflict. Hate to be an armchair psychologist but this delusional man - operating under the guise of charm - needlessly turns basic interactions (e.g. "just dropping off, where do I put this box?" or "hey can you help me with this label issue?") into degrading, gaslight-ey situations claiming the opposite of the the objective, visible truth while it is happening. Really unpleasant person working here. He's non-assisted me 4 or 5 times over the last year and each time it's been way more difficult than it should be. My brother tried to send me a 2-day UPS package in time for Memorial Day weekend. Matthew at the counter didn't make sure it went out, then blamed the driver. It sat for two days--clearly not placed where it should've been. We paid for expedited shipping, got 6-day delivery, and zero accountability. Matthew's excuse? "The driver left it behind." I don't get the low ratings here. I've lived in the neighborhood for years and used postal chase for all kinds of services - packing, shipping, accepting packages, packing, shredding, and in recent years, an alternative to the post office for small envelopes and packages. The staff has always been super friendly although when they are busy, I'll admit they can be a little gruff. But they've never been rude and they always have answered my questions helpful,y and without rushing me. I was concerned about the fact that packages sit in the front of the store, but in all the years I have used them for UPS, over 20 years, I've never had a package disappear from the boxes in the front. They actually scan them once they are there, so they have a record that they have accepted the package even if UPS hasn't shown up yet. They also have notary services, which I haven't used very often to be honest, but a few times I've had to use them. It's great to not have to go to the ever shrinking list of banks that have them. Especially as I don't have a a car, being able to bring packages there and get all the services I would get from a UPS store, FedEx and post office is really convenient. If I could give a negative 10 I would. I have lived in this neighborhood for decades. The male employee who works there is rude and dismissive with basic questions. I am not sure why the owner continues to employ this person. I stopped going there 5 years ago due to this employee's lack of basic decency, and this past weekend I had to drop off a package. I had a question to clarify which bin to place my package for return. The tall male employee with a beanie and glasses was rude, angry and abrupt while telling me what to do. Now, I find my package was never received. How long will the owner tolerate such unprofessionalism? I am out 110.00 because this employee either instructed me incorrectly, or tossed my return. I am really disappointed I have to write this review because the people I worked with here were nice in person. I had 2 items packed and shipped from this place and both arrived damaged. One was an marble table top and the other was a sewing machine. I have no idea how this happened but I am very disappointed and also feel there has been a pretty serious lack of communication from the people there about the status if my reimbursement for my table. Everytime i go in there, the man behind the counter seems annoyed. Today i asked about Notary services. He said they start providing those at 10am. It was currently 9.30am. I said, "oh does the Notary come in at 10am?" He said, "we provide the service at 10am". So i waited until 10am. No notary arrived, and mostly the guy sat there looking at his phone. Then at 10am THAT SAME GUY was providing notary services (eyeroll). BTW nowhere on their website does it say that notary services start at 10am. The Postal Chase is the ultimate luxury to have in your neighborhood. Being able to just walk over and drop off virtually any piece of mail or package is the best, especially in the days of online shopping. In my experience staff has been helpful. I appreciate that they try to save me money when I ship items. Is it a good value? I really can't speak to comparable rates. The Postal Chase is so convenient I stopped looking. Unfortunately, even if the person at the counter was joking, by the second or third time of telling me about me breaking the printer, I felt very uncomfortable. __________Original review: I'm so disturbed by this location. I came to print and followed their instructions to put in my USB, select the items to print and press print. I did just this and got a sign saying the printer will not print unless the black toner cartridge is changed. I told the tall looking man this. His response is I broke the printer for selecting documents with an "_." I re did it and made sure all the correct items were selected. Note these are one-pager documents that are exhibits (like for a trial). Again I got the error message. They told me "You broke the printer for the whole day for trying to print too much." While moaning and groaning. You would have thought it was a joke, which I did initially but this dude could not function. It looks like printing 8 one sided single 8x11 pages destroys their printers. I learned from other businesses to patronize a different shop that does printing at the Haight. We don't live in Alaska. Walking an extra block is not only easy but an enjoyable use of your privilege to walk. To all who have given "good reviews" of this place: the worker knows you somehow. Instead of blaming the person coming in and following your verbal instructions, why don't you make a piece of paper with instructions so that you don't have to interact with customers. Tall guy hazed me over sending some papers in a bubble envelope instead of a paper one. "Why didn't you ask, that's what we're here for?" Because it doesn't matter and I'd like to get it over with without a conversation that it appears he need us to have--but I say I'm sorry, I just wanted to get in and get out, plus I'm sending cash. He drops it for a second until he sees the price. "You would've saved $4!" Imagine caring about $4. Are we living in 1920? I tell him that it's fine, I'll never have to do this again, but I'll do my best to remember it for next time just to get him to stop talking to me, again. This guy then continues to say "Wow, that's the attitude that gets us into wars (???), glad we have your type." Charged $3.50 to print one page. That is ridiculous! Was not told I'd be charged a credit card fee (as all merchants do before giving you the total amount due). Rude and disrespectful tone of service from the older man. Just because you're in Cole valley doesn't mean you can just without transparency expect customers to want to pay for all the surcharges that exist. read more

Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago. Got two documents notarized and then dropped them off for FedEx pickup. I had a short wait and then received excellent service. The Postal Chase in West Portal made a custom box for a family heirloom antique table I was shipping from California to New Hampshire. The Postal Chase did an excellent job with the packing of the table and the shipping by a method that worked for the recipient. The table arrived on time and with no damage at all. I have had my PO Box here for over 20 years. It used to be nice when the owner was there he would greet you by name and happy get your mail instead of having to get out your key. Is it legal to charge someone extra for stamps? Beware, this place charges 10 cents over the normal asking price of stamps. I was surprised and asked the staffer about it. All I can say is my labeled Amazon UPS return was stolen from the unmonitored bin up front, by the front door. They "take" UPS returns but don't really see, watch or care about that big open bin. am a courier and drop off packages all over the city to multiple mail centers such as this one. Today when I attempted to drop off to a customer who has a postal box here I requested to take a picture of the employee's hand holding the package, a policy issued by my company to bypass the unsanitary practice of physically signing for the package. Dropped of a package for shipment that contained bottles. Tjey were surrounded by bubble and the inside of the box was insulated. The tracking never picked this up as sent to fedex. After numerous calls, non answers, i got the owner who said the box was broken and they threw it out . I dont really know what happened to this parcel. They opened it and i dont know if items were stolen. I doubt everything in it was broken and by discarding it, they claim i have no recourse. Avoid this place. read more

I left feeling completely baffled by my experience at this business. I walked in and was met with an incredulous response to my arrival like I was bothering the worker when I walked up to the desk. The attitude was one of disdain. Then someone else walked in - they stopped "helping" me and with the most annoyed tone asked what they needed. This other person was as confused as I was. NOT RECOMMENDED. I took about 5 pieces of framed professional artwork, and a few articles of clothing to be shipped to a friend. I was told by the guy (Mathew, I think...) at the counter that he would personally pack the items, that I could not insure the items unless I put them all in separate packages (false statement I found out later), and that he would call me with the UPS tracking number once he package it himself. When I called back to get the tracking number, he gave me an incorrect one. Long story short, after much run-around, talking to the owner (Mario), them blaming UPS, not their usual driver for pick-up, etc, they "LOST" all of my items, and of course as they told me I couldn't get the insurance, I just got the basic value that comes standard with shipping... and I didn't use my credit card or I would have disputed all of the charges. The main point is the artwork is lost forever to my friend and myself, and I had told the guy that it was important to me which is why he said "oh, don't worry, I will pack it myself..."... I honestly am not sure they even packed up my items. I think this business is dishonest and I would not ever recommend them to anyone. This happened maybe two years ago and it took me this long to even think about it as I was very busy at the time, and really could not believe what happened as it was truly the most unprofessional and sketchy (for lack of a better word) experience I have dealt with, maybe ever. I scarcely know where to begin. I would like to offer all holders of PO Boxes here a serious warning: know your legal rights when it comes to forwarding your mail from this place!! The owner, Maryo, claims that he is under no obligation to forward ANY MAIL once you decide to cancel. That is completely untrue. He is under the same obligatory terms as the Post Office to forward mail for up to 18 months. I had my account with them for 14 years. Let me repeat that:14 YEARS. When I recently relocated, it did not make sense to keep it there any longer. I approached Maryo one day when he was there, and asked him politely about mail forwarding. I explained I was not interested in any junk mail/catalogues/flyers, and that I intended to notify any and all agencies I could think of regarding my change of address, but that I had concerns I might overlook something important and would expect him to keep an eye out and forward such mail to me. He was so incredibly rude about it that it shocked me! First he suggested I keep my box for another three months in case mail came for me (at $120.00) I found that confusing, and said that I expected my mail to be forwarded the same way the post office would. Again, he responded rudely and told me my contract with them prohibits mail from being forwarded; a LIE!! When I called him out for how rudely he was behaving, and demanded a copy of my contract, he then said he wouldn't even let me extend my contract even if I wished to! I had my lawyer review the contract, which clearly states the agency, i.e. the Postal Chase, IS responsible for mail forwarding, so dont let him try to tell you otherwise!! It costs money to forward mail, so that is very likely the reason he claimed it was not his responsibility. In the end, I sent him a check for$25.00 to serve that purpose. MAIL TAMPERING IS A FEDERAL CRIME! Dont let him bully you! Absolutely shameful behaviour. I am still shocked. What a delporable way to treat customers. read more

Matt and Kimberly are both very outgoing and positive, and have helped me with literally hundreds of shipping and receiving transactions with absolutely no negative issues at all. I love Postal Chase, but like many others, I have had pretty much only rude treatment from the tall guy. I finally called him out on it after perhaps 10 rude experiences, "you don't have to be rude about it. I didn't do anything but ask to fax something". Perhaps no one has called him about before, but he somehow became overly nice and I immediately thought that I should have called him out after two times. I called to ask what what time they close on a holiday weekend, and I was lied to. I was told they close at 3:30 when they close at 4. Really? They charge you $0.50 to bring your own USB stick and print on the copier. Copies are $0.15 plus tax. This place will nickel and dime you for everything imaginable. Mediocre bordering on negligent customer service. I only came here because I needed to print a shipping label, and the library is closed due to covid. Came here to mail a letter. I wasn't sure of the best way to send it, as it had an important delivered by date. I was berated and felt to feel stupid/incompetent by the staff here by not knowing about different mail options. I left without my letter being mailed, simply to avoid any further interaction.
