There is nothing like a dependable UPS store to get your shipping and other service needs done. To be honest with you, most UPS stores I have used are pretty decent. This one is near where I live, so I drop in for various services above and beyond shipping. I've done a couple of live scans there, and they do an efficient job. Decent turnaround in and out. Also, I've used their notary service. Again, a decent turnaround time. But, you should call ahead since the notary doesn't work there during the entire day. read more

I'm posting this review to warn others about a serious issue I experienced at this UPS Store involving a questionable shipping weight adjustment. This is the second time I've reported this location in about five years. I shipped a lightweight golf bag that was accurately weighed at 4 lb 11 oz. I took photos of the item, the packaging, and the box on the scale (see attached photos), and I received a UPS receipt confirming that weight at drop-off. Despite this, UPS later sent a "price adjustment" email, claiming the package weighed 18 lb, which is completely inconsistent with the item shipped and the documentation provided. I have formally reported this issue to both the selling platform and UPS, and I am escalating it further with The UPS Corporate Fraud and Compliance Department and consumer protection authorities, such as: -The State Attorney General's Office; -The local Consumer Protection Agency; -The Better Business Bureau (BBB); -The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) I strongly recommend that customers document everything with photos and keep their UPS shipping receipt for at least 6 months (and ideally up to 12 months) in case of issues. read more

When checking out, this UPS store asks if you would like to purchase a book of 20 Forever Stamps. The price is $21 which is a 42% mark-up of the retail value of the stamps at $14.70. The receipt says that items designated NR are NOT eligible for returns, refunds or exchanges. The book of stamps on the receipt was NOT designated NR, but the store refused to accept a return when I discovered the surcharge on the receipt. Please be careful when purchasing items from this store. The package of stamps was NOT marked with $21 price tag. read more

This location, like most UPS stores, is on a main thoroughfare however this particular store is surrounded by lots of general parking meters. Chances are good you won't have to circle, a big plus. So I drove over this huge flat of a box going back to Amazon and they greeted me, scanned the 4' tall flat and sent me on my way with a receipt within 20 seconds. They have a small business center and mailboxes for rent. The entrance is "garden level", down two small sets of stairs, but they also have disabled access with elevator to the right of the main door. It's the easiest UPS store to use because of the plentiful meters all around that'll minimize your chances of getting a DPT ticket. I asked them to pack an item today. They charged me $75 - roughly $20 for the 24"x24"x24" box, $25 for materials, and the rest for labor. I asked why so expensive, because I shipped an item of about the same dimensions that this store also packed, but they charged $35. This was only a few weeks ago. The employee mumbled about it being fragile and needing space for padding. My other item was also fragile. Why is the price double? No explanation. When I moved to the Lower Pac Heights / Japantown area for school, my apartment sometimes had trouble letting mail couriers in. Thus, I decided to get a UPS mailbox to receive my packages, and it was the best decision - for the last 5 years, the staff have ensured all my packages were received and handled with care; they were also very timely with sending out notifications for when my packages were ready for pick up. Three years ago I hit my limit with having my packages stolen off my front porch... I decided to get a mailbox near the job I currently had. The Post St./Japantown UPS store got me all signed up with a box right away and I immediately began what became a three-year relationship with the greatest UPS store ever! Every employee that has worked there has been positive, helpful and always professional. They are so efficient and actually understand the concept of "customer service" as they anticipate our needs and help with a smile. Almost every time I came to the store, if nobody was in line, I would often have my packages waiting for me at the desk before I even got there...that's how good they are! Robbie runs a great store, Jessica is literally the nicest person I've ever met, Paulo and Chris are quick and professional and friendly....and little Pearl gave the best "human support" ever, bless her! I lived in the Sunset district, and even though my job changed from Japantown, right by this to Noe Valley/Bernal area I chose to stay with this particular UPS store because of the customer service I received. I willingly made the drive through frustrating San Francisco traffic anywhere from one to three times a week every week for three years because of these folks professionalism. read more

They force you to use their computers to print then charge outrageous amounts of money for it. Used their computer for less than 5min and paid 20$. I tried to talk to their employees about it and if they could undo the order cause I wouldn't want the prints for that amount, but they wouldn't help. I feel completely ripped off. Go to STAPLES instead...there you just pay for the prints only at a much better rate. read more

I go here a lot to pick up packages as well as to return Amazon packages. Usually every one there is very friendly and efficient except for today. There is an older man that I suspect is the owner Robert based on the pictures below with other reviews. I pay $20/year by the way to UPS that allows me to have packages held there for pickup at my convenience. So I receive an email from UPS telling me my package is ready to be picked up. When I arrive, this guy (Robert) claims it is not there without bothering to look. I should come back later and call first. I tell him that these email notices has always been accurate before but still he refuses to check for my package. I leave, go home, print out the proof of delivery that show it was in fact delivered at 10 AM (I was there at 11:15) and left there with someone named Leonard. I take this printout back at 2 PM and sure enough, the package was there now given to me by Robert off the shelf. When I tell him it says delivery was at 10 AM, he claims that the drivers lie about delivery time and dismisses me with curt "have a good day." I believe very strongly that Robert lied to me because couldn't be bothered to get my package forcing me to make a second trip to the store. Why would the driver lie about the delivery time? What possible reason? In the future I will waste some paper and printout the proof of delivery with the time and person who accepted the package so I don't have to deal with this nonsense with some so called customer service person having a bad day or whatever. I mean, if you hate your customers, why go into customer service. Stupid. One way I know he's lying - he offers not apology for his company messing up their notifications to me which would not be his fault but normally he would have apologized on their behalf. Instead, he dismisses me before I ask too many more questions. Hopefully, he won't be there serving customers next time I go in. I tried shipping a magazine which was sold by the publisher in a thick rigid box. The clerk upsold me on a bubble mailer claiming the package wasn't protected enough to ship. Just because a box is colorful doesn't mean it fails these mysterious UPS packaging standards. This location wants to sell more boxes and mailers, plain and simple. I guess I'll find a new drop off spot like a Walgreens who will ship the package that you hand them. Edit to respond to response: the tape issue could have been resolved with... a piece of tape. I used their computers for a simple internet usage. The first computer froze and did not let me finish my application. I went on to use another computer with the help of a nice emplyeee Chris. When I went to the register to get a refund on my first computer usage I was told that the second computer time was comped by the ups store. I asked for verification. She said she had to look into it. Anyways, I was charged for the second computer time abd was denied a refund. The owner agreed I did not deserve a refund because I swiped my card for the second computer time even though I explained this was not communicated to me before hand abd I should not be charged twice. He was rude and when I went in to try abd find a solution and explain he refused to communicate regarding the issue and threaten to call the police. I am appalled. General printing , shipping both UPS or USPS and their service has been excellent. All the staff have been very professional and friendly. This place has literally the worst customer service of any retail store in my 51 years of living just plain awful. I was issued a return label to be put on a box to return an item told place it on the box and to take it to a ups store . Did that gave it to them they said unless they sell me a shipping box they would refuse to take the box . These criminals attempted to extort money to force me to buy a box not accepting the shipping box that was shipped to me via Ups . Take your business anywhere else as this place has a policy of trying to stick it to you against their ups agreement. Update ten minutes later took it to the ups store on Franklin took the box with a smile said have a nice day(learn something). Today I am at UPS store on POST St. location and got a bad service from the guys who is working there name's "ROBERT or ROBBIE" I think he's only one always working there. I asked him to buy the emtpy box to fit with my bag to ship it out. He said $10 for the empty box and I thoght expensive just only 24"/24" emtpy box but since I was there already..well it's fine to pay $10 for my waisting times...but when I looked on my bills it said box only $7 and he was TRICKY to charged extra for the type to close my box $3 total on my bill was $10 EVEN I bring my type want to do by my own but he said it is ok he will do it for me (I thought oh free service because I bought the box from him) He charged me extra $3 without asking me and tell me the box only $7 and his type to closed the box $3 total $10 :( if I knew $3 to closed the box!! I understand that a place such as the UPS store isn't a restaurant or a healthcare facility...but when you've got a guy coughing all over his hands, wiping his nose with his fingers, and proceeding to notarized your paperwork whole rubbing his grimey hands all over your ID...that's just plain disgusting and against every common sense sanitation rule out there. He was efficient with the notarizing though. Got it done quickly...$10. In and out. Just wished he would've sanitized or washed his hands or at least coughed into his arm. Instead of saying "yes, you're right, we shouldn't charge you $6 for 6 inches of tape, he says the cost of oil has increased, and tape is made from petroleum, so we need to charge for it" Are you kidding me? I'm sorry to say, this specific location fails business services in a big way. The printers don't have WIFI or USB, and unlike other UPS locations, they refuse to accept an email to print your prepaid label. In order to print even a prepaid shipping label customers are required to log into their PC, only to be charged by the minute on top of printing fees. This level of technical incompetence is seemingly by design. I have been a longtime local customer who relied on the many of the services here, but unfortunately leave frustrated every single time. Worse yet, their PAPER SHREDDING SYSTEM IS NOT SECURE! Although the staff are doing their best, they seem to be struggling under poor policy and lack of resource. Due to street parking (a plus!) and proximity in the center of Japantown they remain frequently busy so expect lines, or save the headache and use the Franklin Street location. read more

Do not use this store. The employee refused to accept a prepaid shipment because the package looked "UGLY"and required an additional box purchase for repackaging. This store forces unnecessary purchase/charge and ultimately refuse service if you do not comply. If you ever want to pay $7 for five (5) 8 1/2" x 11" prints in black and white then this is the place to come! Using their self service computer will cost you $3, as soon as you plug in your flash drive clock starts and I love that they don't even put a sign anywhere saying that using their computer will cost you. What a wonderful trap! Yes go and enjoy your really overpriced prints and the most conceited behavior as if they are doing you an immense favor helping you hit print!
