This is a good alternative if you don't live close to a post office. Be prepared to get charged extra. I bought a postal stamp here once and got charged almost 3x the price of a normal post office. Remember to bring cash because below a certain amount they charge you for a credit card fee! They also do label printing for $1.08 per page. read more

One thing I believe reviewers must remember is that the PostalAnnex+ is in many ways a substitute for the U.S. Post Office. Its a private post office, with some extra bells and whistles. As I write this review, I'm mindful of the customer service and pricing at that alternative. The PostalAnnex+ sits in the NorthPoint Shopping Center. Parking is easy. Just park in the covered lot in front of Safeway. The service lack attention to detail, but keep in mind, so would the U.S. Post Office. Packages get lost, and mail gets misdelivered. The big rub of this location is the pricing. The smallest personal (not business, which is more expensive) mail box costs $340 per year. Yes, that's $340 US dollars! To compare, the U.S. Post Office down the street rents out mailboxes for $64 per year. read more

A package from work accidentally got shipped as a "hold" to this location which does not hold packages. They did everything in their power to get in touch with me and the sender to no avail. When I arrived to pick up the package it had been given back to the driver as a return to sender 30 minutes prior. They called the driver in the hopes it was still on his truck and he came back to drop off the package. This place deserves 5 stars for their diligence and customer service! read more

The past times I've shipped stuff it was a chill dude that worked there, but when I went last time the guy told me to tip him so he can tape the printed shipping label I had on the boxes and got frustrated while tapping the shipping label shaking his head and telling me that what I had done was "pathedic." Not only that but when I asked him for the receipt to confirm I had dropped the items off he slammed the receipt on one of the boxes for me to get it. It was by far the worst customer service I've experienced. They still ship things right at least that's how it's been all the time for me just that the attitude they had was awful. read more

I had a similar experience as Camille. The price I was charged to mail a few envelopes seemed suspiciously high. I finally asked for a price breakdown and they told me they add a service charge to USPS transactions. It literally doubled the cost. I paid double what the Post office charges. What makes me mad is that they didn't disclose this information until I specifically asked. I live next door to a post office so it would've been helpful to know this prior. I only went in there to buy envelopes, mailing them was an add on. And money is super tight right now. I feel like I was cheated. I would give them zero stars. I had to ship some documents to India and I used their service. The guy at the counter said that the package would be delivered in 10 days and he charged $75 for it. But it actually took 18 days to be delivered. I guess they sent it using the cheapest service in USPS. I will not recommend them to anyone. read more

I'll never go to the post office again. The post office in North Beach on Stockton and Union is always packed. I walk up the street and see that line out the door and just keep right on walking. The Postal Annex on Bay Street in North Point Center is just as close and much faster. If I have a package to send, this is a one-stop shop. They carry cards, wrapping supplies, and boxes/envelopes of all sizes. The patterned padded envelopes are great for sending gifts. (birthday & holiday themes) And there is never a line. read more

The charge for each printed or copied page is $1 which is simply unfair as there's no headsup or warning or price list displayed anywhere. The same print job costs times less at FEDEX while I was charged $28 in this place (completely unexpected and no, I didnt ask about the prices in advance as I assumed they wouldn't differ from other places THAT significantly). Not even any warning from the personnel that even last pages with tiny little leftover of text would also cost me a dollar each. read more

RUDE RIP-OFF!! GO TO THE REAL UPS STORE ON POLK STREET I went here to send a computer in for repairs via UPS, which of course I wanted to also get insurance for. Despite the fact that the box I was using had zero damage (it was a box I was reusing from an Amazon purchase) and the computer was perfectly wrapped inside of it, the people at this store literally were con artists. They told me "oh, if you don't buy a brand new box UPS will likely deny your insurance claim." Really? I don't think so. When I expressed my doubts about the need for a new box, the husband of the Asian couple who own this place became verbally rude. I then told them I didn't trust them with my package, and promptly went to the official UPS store a few blocks away on Polk Street. I specifically asked the UPS store if there were any issues whatsoever with my box and packaging for an insurance claim (if it came to that), and they said not at all. I then used the UPS store on Polk Street to send my package at the actual cost. The real UPS store had no rip-off cost hikes involved, no rude people trying to force-sell me stuff I didn't need, and also there was no wait I might add. Postal Annex at North Point mall should go annex itself! I will never go back. read more

Dropped in to ask if they could make an oversized print for me by a deadline and was told by James no problem. Project turnaround was fast and results were outstanding. James worked with a local printer and I received print next day. Would recommend using Annex for large color print work. All employees were courteous and knowledgeable. read more

This place makes shipping easier. They offer US Postal, Fedex, UPS and.. "Wine shipping".. I like it when I can compare my options.. Parking validation is a big help in our neighborhood.. I usually walk but like the option if I need to drive to ship some bigger items.. Staff are friendly and helpful.. I am glad I found this place. read more

Really Disappointed. I bought a stamp for international mail on early May this year and thought it took a week to arrive at the person. It's been end of May now and it still does not reach the person. Ultra-delay in mail service. The man in the counter was not sure how much I should pay. He was hesitant, went back and forth and asked me to pay an extra stamp finally. I was like...are you intern? I remembered that I was asked to purchase two stamps priced 3.95 (tax included), but it only costed only USD 2.25 (excluding tax) on USPS website. I gave it a try as it was not a big deal, but I could not imagine that the shipping took far longer than USPS international shipping (usually more than a week). I will think twice before choosing PostalAnnex next time. I will rather go to USPS for more reliable and promising service. read more

I've been mailing here in and out for the last 4 years, never had an hiccup, staff is always all super friendly and willing to help and guide trough what's the best way to do it, many times James the manager as helped figure out how to ship pack, I have a small business and I ship on a daily basis, all my customers are always raving of fast my product got to them. this postal annex is as good as it gets, and I have over places I could go and ship, but I always come here no matter what, cause I know my packages get there fast plus these guys help you alot, prices for shipping , materials is cheap, beans, cartons, envelopes, bubbles etc, all around a great postal service, big thanks to James the manager and all the staff Wich is also friendly and knowledgeable.... see ya tommorow :) read more

Bad service, messed up the mailing address, wouldnt listen my request properly and gave me prices for things i never even asked for. After 30 mins of talking at me telling why they charge so much, finally told me they dont do what i needed. Please never come here. read more

If it were possible to give less than a star I would. I was charged DOUBLE for a priority flat rate box (compared to normal usps location pricing) and my package hasn't even been scanned by usps a day later and is still sitting at their facility. Not only is this place a RIP OFF, but the priority packages and mail don't even go out and now my package will be delayed. As painful as usps is, don't risk a mailing experience even worse than usps. read more

Don't be tempted to do business here. The store is a total rip-off. Everything is overpriced by A LOT. Need a First Class stamp? Be prepared to pay $.58 instead of the normal $.44. To top if off, the employees are rude and act as if they're doing you a huge favor by answering a question, or ringing up a purchase. read more

On a visit to drop off some returns, i needed to print 2 copies from my email. I notice the print sign so I asked. Rip off!!!!! I have been sending packages from here for YEARS. I always thought they seemed expensive, but it never hit me until yesterday. I had 2 books to send via Media Mail. I weighed the packages and found they would be about $2.50 each to send, unfortunately I was unable to pay for Media Mail online through USPS. Went to Postal Annex where they told me it would be $11.70 to send the books. WHAT???? I told them they should only be about $2.50 each, and they said I was right, and " that is the actual postage cost, but we charge more here". More than 100% more????? I get they need to make a profit, but WTF? CRAZY! I took my packages back, went to the Post Office, and sure enough, $2.50 each. NEVER AGAIN. I cannot imagine how many hundreds of dollars I have been over-charged there. Seriously, I have spent A LOT of money shipping things from Postal Annex over the years. Shame on me. I rented a small private mailbox here so FedEx and UPS could leave packages for me. I have only good things to say about the people who work here. Everyone is efficient and friendly and I'm glad to be able to pick up my Amazon packages at my convenience rather than waiting around for my door bell to ring. read more

I needed to print out an egift card to use at Safeway and was very frustrated at having to do this rather than scan from my phone. The representative very kindly printed it for me and explained that other customers have been in to his shop to do the same. He explained logically how the process works and knew more than the Safeway reps did about their own services. I am very thankful for the expedient and kind service. read more

After tonight, I had to write a review. Initially, James, the employee on staff tonight, wouldn't come out of the office to hand me my package tonight. I had to pick up my package and stood there looking at him, when he came out I mentioned to him that each time I enter, no one greets me or says good bye, and when I ask for them to get my packages they don't speak they just bring it. He said, that they don't have to do more. I disagreed, and told him I am going to mention the lack of customer service to the owner, and asked for the owner's direct line. He said he didn't have to give it to me with a rude voice. I said this isn't an argument, I just want to share my thoughts about the lack of service. Then James says----" I don't have to treat you well, or treat you badly" and he walked away. I realize that he may feel self conscious about his English, but there is no excuse for talking to me this way. I spoke to two other customers outside and asked if they experienced similiar rude treatment or just being ignored. They both began to share their stories, and we all agreed that we would not extend our mailbox leases. I told them that I found a friendly UPS store two blocks away on Columbus at 1288 Columbus Ave. San Francisco. I can't wait until my lease is up. Until it runs out, I will only go to this store when I am already having a bad bad because I don't want them to ruin a good day. read more
