Great customer service! If you need to send anything via mail this is the place to go!

Location can get very busy, very quickly. There's been times when only 1 employee is behind the counter during "commute" time. The self service machines don't work and there really isn't an "express" lane. So be prepared to be on your feet. read more

I stop by this post office on my way to work and always use the self-service kiosks. They have three of them, which is great compared to the Pine St. location that only has one. Because of that, I never have to wait and I'm usually in and out in under five minutes. I mainly use the kiosks to create and scan labels for tracking, and it's always quick and easy. On top of that, the place is clean and spacious. Definitely one of the best post offices in the city! read more

The clerk/associate is spot on and have me taken care of right up. It's a turn-head experience compared to those US Post Office the last 3 years who work like a zombie with a poker face on it. read more

I was mailing a parcel to Germany and the woman helping me filled out the necessary paperwork making it a very pleasant day! This was at the main post office in Daly City. Thank you to that woman who made it painless! read more

The lead clerk here is very nice. She's efficient and has great professional demeanor. I didn't catch her name but she helps move the line. The only reason the lines are so long is because of people who are not prepared and go into the lines. I admit , this has happened to me before because of mailing something international. Overall, I would come here again. Just not during lunch (that's when the longest lines are formed) fYI they do not accept a lot of mail after 4:30pm for tracking. And the cut off for express is 2pm! Plan accordingly. read more

I used to really hate the post office. The long lines, the bad customer service, the slow and antiquated processes. But during the pandemic, this post office has been great. They're really trying to up their customer service, which I can tell. Everyone who works there is pretty nice. They really try to help you if you need it. One of them is a little more spastic but he's actually kinda funny. The place is clean and there aren't too many lines anymore. The machines are super old though. And this location definitely isn't winning any interior design awards any time soon. read more

I got P.O. Box and was informed there would be access (to the front room) at anytime, yet unfortunately I discovered it's entirely inaccessible/closed on the weekends. A "fast-track" line for P.O. box customers to pick up packages would be nice. As a box holder who pays a premium for the service it's frustrating to wait 15 + minutes every time something larger than an envelope is delivered. However, I'm happy to support the US Postal service as a valued part of the nations infrastructure, although these issues are easily remedied and do not exist with private mailbox services. The bald guy at the end of counter always a smile and a great attitude. Avoid lunchtime visits as lines are much longer. read more

This is a well run Post Office. The staff keep the line moving, are professional, and polite.

Luckily, when my friend and I went here, there was only one person in front of us! By the way, 3 stars is a high rating for a post office. The packages, envelopes, and cards were all fully stocked. The employee that helped us out was very friendly too unlike the usual USPS employees. Although, looking at other reviews, it could get pretty bad so make sure to come here early. read more

On a recent weekday Morning, you would have found me at the Brazilian Consulate as I was applying for a Visa. At the end of my appointment, I was informed that I could pick up my newly upgraded Passport between Noon and 1 PM the next day. I wasn't about the make yet another trip (during work hours) into the City for Martinez, so I handed the staff person a stamped self addressed envelope. I understand now that passports need to be mailed in secure and trackable mail, not just regular stamped mail. My handler gave me directions to this Post Office to get the $20 option. So I ran down to get the envelope, waited for awhile is slow line (with counter staff wandering in and out), got what I needed (debit or cash only), and ran back to deliver what staff wanted. Sure enough, in a day or 2, my Visa enhanced passport arrived in the mail. Earthwatch Brazil here I come! read more

Customer service here wasn't bad, but isn't great either; it was actually rather robotic, which I don't mind as long as they get the job done and aren't rude. The facility itself is commodious as well as clean and orderly. It's conveniently located adjacent to Bart station and one of my school's buildings. I've just mailed in my passport renewal application, and the process was pretty convenient and quick. I recommend this post office if you're in downtown San Francisco. This is my regular post office, but I usually just drop off packages with already put on shipping labels in the package drop box. The other day I went in to ship a book to a family member without a shipping label so I needed to wait in line and speak to a staff members. The line wasn't too terrible, and there were 4 people working at the desks so it went pretty quickly. I was informed that USPS has a book/CDs/DVDs/media flat rate of $3.99 when I told the staff member that I was shipping a book - which I did not know was a thing - so I was pleasantly surprised to pay such a small fee for a pretty heavy book. Make sure to tell them if that's what you're shipping so you can get this rate too! This location is well stocked and relatively clean. read more

This is the closest post office to the W Hotel (about a 10-15minute walk) and it's within walking distance to many of the hotels in the financial district. When I got here around 2pm...there was at least a twenty minute line to mail something and the post office didn't seem to sell any postcards, so I ran to the mall around the corner and stopped in Under One Roof --- they had all sorts of little gifts and trinkets that I used to make up a few care packages that I wanted to send out. Even though the line at the post office was large, there were these electronic self-mailing machines that I ended up using for the first time. They didn't have any wait at all. Within minutes, I was able to print out labels, pay and mail out two packages via priority. Bam! So my pro-tip: don't neglect those electronic machines to self-mail. You don't have to be super savvy to do it. read more

The US post office seems to constantly lose packages. I try to avoid using USPS for anything I ship as there seems to be a 15-20% chance the item will get lost. Once that happens your pretty much screwed (i've tried collecting the insurance they offer and it is a pain). I decided to write this review as I purchased something off of Amazon, Amazon is really good about delivering their items, however they recently started sending some of their packages to USPS for final delivery and its seems a lot of what I am ordering is getting lost. I wish there was a way to request how Amazon ships your item. Just really frustrated with the US Post Office. I prefer FedEx and UPS, they never seem to lose items. read more

I came in today because I had a money order that I had purchased and I was trying to see about getting a refund. I explain to the postal clerk "Carmen" my situation and that I was trying to find a way to get my money back she told me she couldn't help me there because they didn't have any dollars and that I could cash my check at my bank, I told her my bank wasn't in the area, she told me to go to another post office that was busy and had a line because that meant they had a lot of money. I was not about to go to all these post offices around my area in hopes that maybe they would have $5,800 dollars available. I asked her if there was any other way I could get a refund there because I used my card and asked if I could talk to someone else about the situation because she kept talking over me and did not take the time to listen as she was set in her own ways. She started to get irate with me and told me that there was no one else I could talk to like a manager, There was another man that was very helpful that I asked if I could talk to him and she told me no, she was the only manager. I did not believe her with the way she was acting toward me and the situation. So I went back in line to talk to the other man "andres". She then ran over to him and started telling him very loudly to not give me any help or a refund, I went over to tell him I would like to talk to him about the situation and I did not need her to tell him not to help me, she started yelling at me to get away because he was helping someone else at the time and I told her I was trying to get help that she was not giving. Andres told me he would help me as soon as he was done with the other person and I told him thank you and waited in line. She then went to the other postal clerk that was coming on and told her not to help me and then went to her station. I waited in line for andres and he was able to calmly go over everything with me and was extremely helpful in finding other things out. Upon leaving she was calling for people next in line and i told her I was waiting because i wanted to get her name, she ignored me and kept yelling for the next person. I told her again i needed help and asked for her name to which she smuggly smiled and replied "Carmen" and pointed to her name tag, I told her "Carmen, got it." And she sarcastically said thank you, have a good day. I am extremely upset with the attitude and behavior this woman was displaying in front of the entire post office. She was rude, disrespectful and extremely unhelpful as she felt she was in the right, wanted to talk over me and did not take the time to listen and help what would of been an easy solution, she could take a lesson in manners and professionalism from her co workers as I have gone to this post office many times and have been helped by them and have been very satisfied with the service there. I have never dealt with this woman before and hope I do not have to deal with her again. read more

This post office is review worthy for one very important reason: the apc is available for use for a half hour AFTER the post office itself closes. Apc's are a glorious thing. No one likes going to the post office. At best, it's a tedious task. At worst, well...you know. Apc's make the experience so much better and it's a wonder that all post offices do not have them. When I get out of work and need to get postage for a package, I can come straight here during the half hour APC only hours and take care of business in minutes. That's the kind of postal experience dreams are made of. read more

I love that USPS offers these free boxes with single prices up to certain weight. I was able to ship out several Ebay items that I sold in these boxes and still feel like a professional Amazon seller instead of a Craigslist seller. I went in, picked up a bunch of free boxes and brought it back to the office. From the office, I was able to print my labels through Paypal/Ebay, slap it on the boxes and then walk back to USPS to drop off the packages in the jumbo mouth mail container. Very cool and very easy! However, I did have one odd shape package and none of the the boxes fit. I ended up wrapping this one up in a paper bag and so, I had to queue up to see a CSR at the window. There were only 2 reps working the mail section and 2 reps working the passport section. I mean, there were only about 6 people ahead of me but it took forever and a half to get to the window for servicing. That was annoying and ate up a lot of my valuable time. However, when I got to the desk, the reps are extremely friendly and helpful. I do believe their customer service has improved after online self servicing took. Back in the days when online wasn't as accessible, the reps were rude, slow and didn't care. I didn't get that vibe this time. They actually said 'hi' and 'how are you' to me! Other than the long lines, this location had friendly staff and plenty of free boxes for the taking. read more

Another one of the convenient post office locations in the Financial District. My dad, sister and I submitted an application for passport renewals at this location back in 2003. The staff here are friendly, my dad, sister and I had our passport renewal applications processed immediately. 5 stars for the neatness and postal items being well stocked. There are still many people coming here to get their post office business/transaction taken care on their breaks. Seems to me that the line here aren't always very long since the staff here help customers get their transactions taken care of efficiently in a professional manner. When I am in the border line between Financial District and Union Square with post office transactions to care of, I'd come right in here to get it done. 2/11/2014: There are three Self-Service Kiosks available which is indeed of convenience for most customers. I must openly admit that this is one of the better USPS facilities especially since it is located in the Financial District. Overall, I have not encountered any problems yet so I'll be back. read more

It's a post office. So I won't expect much here. The lines are pretty big if you come later in the day. But arrive around 8am, just right after they are opening and you will be done in 5 minutes. The staff is nice etc. etc. They have a big selection of birthday postcards from Wiener Dog. Also, if you need a box or an envelope the selection is quite big. I don't know why they charge for the tape though... Now I should remember to bring it each time I am going to send a package otherwise I will end up with tons of tape reels that I don't need. read more

Horrible customer service, rude supervisor! I went to this location to drop off a package. But I wanted the receipt. The lady, supervisor or acting manager (Carl?) was behind the counter. I was the only customer waiting, looking at her to pay attention and call me. But her head was down busy with something else. I was waiting there. Finally, one of his colleagues came to me and asked me if I had a drop-off. I told him, yes, but I want to add signature service to the package. He asked the supervisor/acting manager if I could do it. The ladies head was down, shook her head and said "No". Then I told him that I wanted the receipt. He looked at that lady (supervisor/acting manager) if she could help, but her head was still down, pointed to the scanner with her head and didn't say a word. WOW, what an attitude. I have been to this location multiple times, she is acting the same all the time. I have seen her talking to other customers with a bad attitude. I felt sorry for those customers. She doesn't know how to talk to the customers, or maybe she doesn't want to because she has been working there for a long time and her job is secure. I don't expect excellent service from USPS since its a government branch, like DMV. But at least the employees should be trained how to talk deal with the customers. read more

Conveniently located in the heart of the financial district, I come to this USPS location all the time whenever I need to make a quick drop-off of deliveries that require certified mail and return receipts. The postal workers are usually really helpful and efficient. Beware though, it can get really busy at certain times of the day (usually around noon it seems, when people run errands in conjunction with their lunch breaks), so try to come during the off-peak hours to avoid long lines. I've never had to use it, but they also have a line to process passport applications. read more

This is a good post office. There is a resident homeless person that sleeps outside in a FedEx box, ironically enough, but inside is clean and easy to navigate. Most of the time when I come in there is no line, but even with a line it moves pretty quickly, since 2 or more people always seem to be working the counter. Postal workers are wonderfully nice and polite, and very patient with those coming in that have lots of questions or are frustrated. I usually make labels with PayPal and tape up my own packages at home, which provides a discounted rate for package rates (even priority flat rate) compared to buying postage at the office itself. I've had issues at other post offices dropping off a package through the package drop in the wall. In those instances, packages sometimes didn't get scanned in for a couple days, and once even 5 days. These days, I just wait in line to go to the attendant and leave the package with them, but I always ask for a receipt so they HAVE to scan it into the system as I'm waiting. That way, the tracking number is always up to date in showing the package was dropped off at the post office. read more

Unorganized, lengthy lines, slow service. I came here to apply for my passport and the line was out the door, literally. One person behind the counter taking an average of 15+ min with customers. The hours here suck. Typical government ran office. Inefficient and slow as hell. This office makes DMV look like it's running wonderfully. read more

This is my first time to go into a post office and unfortunately, it was not a very pleasant experience. The old white guy behind the counter was extremely rude and yelled at me. There was no one to ask questions to as everyone was behind the counter. So I lined up, prepared as much as I can, and then waited for my turn. I did as much research as I could about sending mail online, too, but as I said this is my first time, I needed help. I told that to the guy "I need your help" but he wasn't very understanding. He angirily gave me direction, told me I was wasting his time and talked very loudly AT me. I understand that you've probably had to answer the same questions for hours but for some of us, this is the first time we're sending mail. Like the other review said beware of the older man with glasses. He needs a new job. If you have questions or need help, do NOT come here, or just be prepared to be treated poorly. read more

Beware of the older male clerk with glasses. Worst customer service. EVER. Rude and unprofessional attitude. When I tried telling the guy of my situation, he talked over me and kept repeating himself, raised his voice more aggressively, not listening to me at all and made disrespectful comments. I have been to this post office multiple times and unfortunately, this guy is always rude. If you need to use the mail slots, you won't have an issue. If you happen to get the older white dude with glasses as your service clerk, be prepared for a bad experience. A cup of coffee or sweets afterwards will make you feel better. Don't get a P.o. box here. My mail was lost and late a handful of times in the last two months. Generally speaking - getting your passport renewed can be a major headache. But at the Sutter Street Station, it was a walk in the park. Dearest Winnie was there, an angel sent from the U.S. Department of State in an unflattering blue postal service uniform, to hold my hand during this difficult time. I had an outdated form but she didn't bite my head off, just politely handed me a new one. I asked the difference between a passport book and a passport card and she didn't roll her eyes and sigh indignantly, but graciously explained the difference with a smile on her face. And although I was SURE she'd scowl once she saw my disgrace of a birth certificate (it's literally disintegrating and one wrong move away from ripping into pieces - I honestly didn't know if they'd even accept it) but she didn't! She simply giggled in amusement and provided me with two websites from which she promises I can easily order a new one at my convenience. I was in and out of there faster than you can say "ONLY-TWO-MONTHS-UNTIL-MY-FABULOUS-DREAM-TEAM-OF-FRIENDS-AND-I-LOSE-ALL-OUR-INHIBITIONS-IN-SPAIN-ONLY-TO-RETURN-CHANGED-WOMEN-SICK-OF-OUR-BOYFRIENDS-AND-READY-TO-LIVE-LIVES-BASED-SOLELY-ON-EXPERIENCING-PLEASURE-IN-ALL-ITS-DIVERSE-FORMS-WHEREVER-WE-MAY-FIND-IT!!!" If you want to make a passport appointment, you're probably better off coming in and waiting in line for regular USPS service so you can speak to someone to make an appointment. If you want to cut in line to speak to someone, you'll probably be asked to wait in line - staff is not the friendliest. I tried calling in at 8:30 am when they opened and probably called every 15 minutes until 12:00 pm but no one picked up. Finally gave up and went in to speak to someone about making an appointment instead. I was wondering why no one picked up because I thought I might've had the wrong number or something and was rudely told "We've been busy (hand pointed to the line to gesture me to look at how busy they are).
