Mail Access is not only a great mail service, but also an amazing part of the Castro community. The owners make sure to remember each person and they will get your package ready before you even make it to their desk! There's always cute seasonal decorations and/or treats inside that make picking up the mail such an enjoyable experience. The location is also very convenient. I'm impressed. In the past six months since I signed up, I've only been inside three times (I don't get much mail here). Once to sign in, twice to pick up a letter. Each time I walked in to get something, I'm fumbling with my key and trying to remember where the box is - and the owner greets me with a happy smile and says "it's box nnn". I don't know if this is photographic memory or not, but I'm really impressed. The feeling is they CARE about the customer. Mail Access has been the absolute best business I have discovered during COVID times. I used to get all my mail at my office, but since I've been working from home I was having half of my packages stolen after they were delivered to my front door. Mail Access gives me the flexibility to get packages delivered at any time, whether I'm at home or not, and then I can pick them up when it's convenient. On top of the ease, everyone who works here is SO incredibly lovely and helpful. They remembered my name and mailbox number since the second time I walked in the door and have my packages on the counter before I finish walking across the store. I've been with Mail Access for...wow, it's been 16 years now... and I am very happy to write this review. Judged by any criteria you care to name or even think about, total accuracy of service, extremely friendly and good-natured-to everyone interactions, efficiency with your time spent, and rock-solid reliability for everything done right, this the best business. And when I say that, I mean the best business of any kind in the entire city. I run a small business myself and I have a lot of mail and packages coming and going all the time, and have for all these years. None of those packages or letters is all that important...unless it doesn't go out or goes to the wrong place--then it's terribly important and causes me no end of trouble. It's sort of sobering to realize that every occasional error that occurs is my doing, and never Ahmad's! When very occasionally a customer of mine says he didn't get his package it's either my error or the Post Office's or UPS's fault but never Ahmad's. Think of that, a 16 year perfect record! I also very much appreciate never missing a package delivery to me or never having a package or a piece of mail stolen. I've lived in the same apartment building for 25 years and every time there is a new or a substitute mailman for a week they always deliver mail (and packages) to the wrong apartments. It was maddening. All that stopped when I started having Ahmed receive all my deliveries. Peace of mind like this is cheap at any price but his prices are good too. If you want total security in getting all your mail and all your packages safely and on time (not to mention all the time saved for re-delivery of your packages when you weren't home) it's a no-brainer, join Mail Access. Let me get out of the way first: this is the best place to mail your packages and to have your packages safely stored until you can pick them up. My husband and I rented a personal box for a year ($340 plus $5 refundable key deposit) beginning in October this year and have been extremely impressed at the professionalism, speed and accuracy of Ahmed. While working at the speed of light, he is ready with a smile and even remembers our names. Wow! I've been meaning to write a review for a few weeks. Today reminded me I must, because today, I stopped in to ship my Christmas gifts to a few different destinations. In the past, I'd wait a long time in a long line at UPS or FedEx and end up paying a price that made me wince. Today, I had 3 gifts packaged & addressed separately and the rest going all to one address wrapped and placed in a laundry basket. I had written out my address and the destination address to a sheet of paper & taped to the laundry basket. Check out this timeline and be amazed: 3:57-4:00 PM: I parked car right outside at meter (thank you, parking gods). I paid it forward by paying for 1 hour even though I suspected I'd be out in minutes. I had no idea how fast it would really be though. Ahmed had placed my 2 incoming packages on the counter before I even got all the way inside. I asked Ahmed if I should bring the separately addressed packages to the Post Office myself, or if that was a service he offered. "Oh no, we can do that for you!" he said. More time saved! 4:01-4:03 PM: He quickly laid out the 3 packages after weighing them plus the address paper for the loose gifts and placed a USPS tracking label next to each and asked me to take a photo of each one with my phone. While I was doing that, he took all the loose gifts away to a table behind the counter and weighed them as well, to be boxed up securely after I left. 4:04 PM: He rang me up while telling me "I know how valuable your time is!", swiped my credit card and handed me the receipt. TOTAL TIME: *** 7 minutes *** and all gifts will go out USPS Priority Mail in time for Christmas and at an extremely reasonable price. I have been a happy customer here for almost 20 years now and have no plans to ever get a mailbox elsewhere. The people who work here are amazing, courteous, helpful and charming. They always remember who I am & my box number when I walk in & run to grab my boxes without me having to say anything other than "thank you." They've helped me through various logistical situations regarding mail & packages with a can-do, calm & professional attitude. I hate the idea of amazon boxes or important mail going to unsecured apartment buildings so I absolutely recommend the security of having a mailing address at this business. There's so many reasons why: #1 is that they have outstanding personal integrity. Your mail & packages will be safe & secure. It's not outrageously expensive, and they're at a central location that most of us can get to easily from most parts of the city. Let's say you're traveling. You can call them from another city & have them send you particular items & have someone else pick something up for you, etc. these people are solid & will work with you in whatever situation you might be in. I was late paying my rent once & they still let me pick up my mail & didn't get ugly about it when I explained I had to wait until my next paycheck. Other places might get sketchy & hold your mail hostage in that kind of situation. Not this place. You can trust them to keep your mail & packages secure & they will go the extra mile to do that for you, even when you're not a perfect customer (like me). There's lots of reasons to get a mail box. A private mailbox can give you address continuity, so all your mail & tax stuff & whatever can stay the same even if you move every couple years. After a couple moves the ease of not having to update every agency, business and family member with a new address every time your living arrangement changes really adds up. You can have the safety of keeping your personal home address more private by using a mailbox address on your Driver's license, etc. Stuff you order won't get stolen. You won't worry that important checks or legal documents are getting mixed up your Roomate's mail or picked up by people down the hall. And this is definitely one of the good places to get a mailbox. Open reasonable hours, but you can get 24 hour access with your own private key anyhow. Genuine people who are not ripping you off. Family business where the few people working have high integrity & are happy to be there & not disgruntled low paid wage slaves. Instead, over the years I've been their customer I've only seen them in good spirits. You can see thoughtful intelligence in how they operate their business. I've watched them renovate several times, adding more mailboxes & changing the counters a couple times, each time making intelligent improvements that seem smart & efficient with clean lines. It's not dingy, dusty, cluttered or neglected like some other sketchy mailbox places. This Mail Access is solid, stable, secure, affordable, clean, and run by people you can trust. Every so often when I go to Mail Access, all I usually need is a small envelope or package to be sent which isn't very costly (a few bucks here and there). Amad, the owner is extremely friendly & professional and treats me like I'm his best customer! I'm always in & out of there very quickly.
