I hope this is for the right post office I live on Winfield and had a small package to mail postage paid- it didn't fit in the mailboxes that are secured these days. I saw a carrier at the bottom of Winfield and he was amazing! As busy as this guy is- he took the time to answer my question. I asked if they still pick up outgoing mail from residences these days and we both kind of laughed at the change in the times. He asked where I lived and said "sure he would do that for me". He certainly didn't have to do that- I'm certain many would have just directed me to the post office on 29th street or even waived me off before I got to the question. I'm sure delivering mail on foot isn't an easy job especially considering all the variables. These men and women do it faithfully in spite of ongoing challenges and this particular carrier- who I'm hoping will read this and remember our interaction- went above and beyond. I taped the small item to our mail slot (on the garage like many others) with a note thanking him. I was a little nervous until I saw the item was scanned and tracking. THANK YOU DO MUCH sir- please know your kindness and professionalism make a huge difference and today even several days later, I'm still thinking about it and smiling. Simple kindness especially these days- has a profound uplifting effect and every person like this guy, who do things the way he did, makes me want to emulate and carry that spirit to others. I just want you to know the effect was much more than convenience- it was confirmation that good hardworking and kind people are still in the world and it reflects very well on the postal service! The clerks Always have a fucking attitude when coming in. Only been in ever to ship a prepackaged label which requires absolutely no thought or effort yet they come off as if im asking them to do the most complex thing. The one in the mission is slower but at least they somewhat act like humans. read more

This is the third time I've been screamed at by the clerk named JOE. He told me he was the manager, I find that hard to believe. This guy is a total jerk. Not professional and seems discriminatory. I had to stand there and listen to him scream at me, red in the face, unit he FINALLY handed me the stamps I had just paid for. Yes, AFTER I PAID AND RECEIPT PRINTED, he refused to give me my stamps until he was done screaming at me. Great service. read more

Been waiting for my new prescription eyeglasses to arrive all day, according to USPS informed delivery. The package has been in SF for three days, just riding around town to different facilities, to be delivered by 9pm tonight. Surprise! No delivery. What good is informed delivery if they aren't going to deliver the package when they say they will???? Guess they will deliver it tomorrow, or whenever they feel like it. read more

I just went here to mail a package, and the agent, Joe, is very unfriendly and condescending and talks like everyone is dumb. I made the mistake of coming here instead of UPS. Some people just don't know how to value their customers, who are the reason they have jobs. read more

I always come to this post office whenever I want to send out any packages and the process is always super efficient despite there only being one gentleman manning the desk everytime I've shown up! I've come at all hours in the afternoon and it's never super busy - I've only had to wait for at most one person whenever I'm here. FYI, priority labels are free but you do have to ask for it! read more

DO NOT use USPS for international shipping. I sent a birthday gift to a friend in Guadaljara, Mexico on April 30 for his birthday on May 10. The tracking followed the package to Mexico City, then it disappeared. I suppose it was stolen. There was no way to track the package after it got to Mexico. Complete waste of $25. I wish I had sent it Fedex. read more

I seriously thought this was going to UPS or FedEx facility, but it turns out to be a USPS facility in Bernal Heights. This is a good location for a United States Postal Service Facility. I do have to confess that I did hear gospel music when I walked in to mail a letter today. It's of convenience to have a USPS facility nearby when consumers need a place to mail their letters or ship their packages. Brief Edit for 7/20/2015: Lobby opens at 8:30 am and the window counter opens at 10:00 am. The associate on duty was very nice and prompt. read more

This is the most relaxed post office i've ever been to. It's clean, it's quiet, it's kind of like no one knows it's there but me. Had to ship a book I sold on Amazon, and was in and out in less than 3 minutes. The guys behind the counter looked bummed that their conversation had to be paused, but they didn't screw around or try and upsell me like most post offices do. Parking sucks, and if you don't pay for street parking like me, you'll probably get a ticket (like I did). I guess you could always park at safeway across the street. That, and they aren't open on Saturdays apparently. I hope people don't start coming here and ruin this for me. read more

Not open on Saturday. On weekdays they "open" at 8 AM but don't actually do anything service-wise until 10:30. Even dropping off a prepaid package is off the table before then. They take forever to take care of customers, and so even a short line takes forever to be seen. When you do finally get to the front, they act as if they're doing you a giant favor by even bothering to give you the time of day. read more

Wow. Did I just have a good experience at a USPS? Yes! NO line. FRIENDLY, efficient staff. PLEASANT gospel music playing on decent-quality speakers. What's not to love? Mission accomplished in less than one minute. (I've grown accustomed to waiting at least 15min in line...) So happy THIS is my local post office. ** UPDATED 1/30: Revising from 5 to 4 stars. May have had an abnormally good experience my first time... have been back a few times since, there's usually a short line. Also, learned the hard way today they're closed on Saturdays (all day). It took me about 3 years to figure out that this place existed. Every time someone told me there was a Post Office on 29th behind Safeway, I said, "No, you must be confused. There is a UPS store on 29th, not a Post Office." Turns out, I was the confused one. There is a Post Office around the corner on Tiffany! Hurrah! I love that this place is so close to my house. Postage is WAY CHEAPER THAN UPS! It's small, and sometimes has long lines, but just be patient or come back another time. It's not a crazy, chaotic post office, it's more relaxed. The people are friendly enough if you're friendly to them. Smile once in a while, you'll usually find people will smile back! read more

I know- five stars for a post office sounds crazy. But this post office branch is the best I've been to in the city. Every time I come here, I feel like i've stumbled across a secret only I know about - probably because it's hidden on a little side street and there's hardly anyone ever there. Still, it's still super convenient at just a block down from Mission. Don't know what people are talking about when they say there's always a long line? I've never - not even during the holidays- seen a long line here, maybe 5 people max - most of the time, it's just one or two. read more

One of the best post office locations in SF! The gentleman working behind the counter is a super juggler: efficient, courteous, and kind. I feel really extra writing this, but this is the friendliest USPS office I have been to. I was unsure of what size box to get, and one of the workers did a bunch of hypothetical calculations of measurements, weight, and shipping speeds for me. I came in the next day with my actual package and mailed it off in 2 minutes. And the recipient got it in 2 days, as promised. read more

This place is ridiculous. Waiting to get serviced here is the worst. There are 3 counters but always only one person working.

This is one of my favorite post offices in San Francisco. It's never too crowded except during tax season and the agents are absolutely wonderful. This is the office closest to my house but somehow, I'm technically stuck going to Diamond Heights which is always crowded and never fun. I especially love Jeff and since I'm often there a few times a week (eBay!!), he now officially says my name in greeting me as well. Took away a star because they are not open on Saturdays. Great customer service. Best experience I've had at a post office. African American lady and Asian clerk wish I remember their names. I showed up 5 minutes before closing and they were extremely helpful and provided extra boxes for me. I stayed until 515 and not once did I sense an attitude or frustration for me being there so long. read more

My usual place to drop my letters. It's not the best or fanciest Post Office, but I'll guarantee you won't face much of a a line. I've only seen at most 3 people waiting in line. Let's face it ... it's just a Post Office and you only go when you need to. Just don't go on Saturdays, since it's closed on weekends. read more

Ever used the scale in the PO lobby to see if you need to add extra stamps? Yesterday I was mailing a job application and had to add postage --from my collection of odd stamps. Luckily there was no line, so I asked the clerk if she could assure me that the letter would be delivered in 2 days, by the deadline for applications. Yes, but when she threw it on her scale she said I still owed a few cents postage, saying the scale in the lobby was WRONG, and that she'd asked before that it be fixed. Watch out, your important mail might not get where it needs to go for the reason of "postage due." PO please fix it! read more

Great post office no line , I always have to double park, or I walk here or park at safeway and walk over, other than that nice people work here and no lines is what makes this a golden spot for mail read more

Avoid at all costs! This place used to be tolerable, but it has now been overrun and is as bad as the 23rd/S.Van Ness one!! It seems the more crowded it gets the slower the postal workers go, that is when they are even at their stations! It seems that most of the people who should be at the counter are perpetually on break (maybe watching the security cameras and laughing at people fuming or fainting to the floor from waiting so long). The faster workers are rude the nice ones are super-slow, it's a lose-lose situation! Trust me, go somewhere else. read more
